إِبْرَٰهِيمُ
Ibrahim
يَهُودِيًّۭا
a Yahoodi / Sunni,
وَلَا
nor
نَصْرَانِيًّۭا
a Christian / Shia,
وَلَٰكِن
rather
كَانَ
he was
حَنِيفًۭا
an areligious person
مُّسْلِمًۭا
firmly,
وَمَا
and not
كَانَ
he was
مِنَ
from
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
the ones who add partners.

٦٧
مَا كَانَ إِبْرَٰهِيمُ يَهُودِيًّۭا وَلَا نَصْرَانِيًّۭا وَلَٰكِن كَانَ حَنِيفًۭا مُّسْلِمًۭا وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ Not was Ibrahim a Yahoodi / Sunni, nor a Christian / Shia, rather he was an areligious person firmly, and not he was from the ones who add partners.

Abraham was not a Jew, nor yet a Christian; but he was an upright man who had surrendered (to Allah), and he was not of the idolaters. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Surely
أَوْلَى

ٱلنَّاسِ

بِإِبْرَٰهِيمَ
with regards to Ibrahim

ٱتَّبَعُوهُ
adhere to him
وَهَٰذَا
and this
ٱلنَّبِىُّ
revolutionary leader,
وَٱلَّذِينَ
and the ones who
ءَامَنُوا۟
have trust;
ۗ
وَٱللَّهُ
and the One is
وَلِىُّ
protector of
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
the ones of trust.
٣
٦٨
إِنَّ أَوْلَى ٱلنَّاسِ بِإِبْرَٰهِيمَ لَلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوهُ وَهَٰذَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ وَلِىُّ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Surely closest of the people with regards to Ibrahim are the ones who adhere to him and this revolutionary leader, and the ones who have trust; and the One is protector of the ones of trust.

Lo! those of mankind who have the best claim to Abraham are those who followed him, and this Prophet and those who believe (with him); and Allah is the Protecting Guardian of the believers. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Indeed the nearest of all people to Abraham are those who follow him and this prophet and those who have faith, and Allah is the guardian of the faithful. - Qarai, Ali Quli

And desire
طَّآئِفَةٌۭ
groups
مِّنْ

the holders of
ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
the Book
لَوْ
that if
يُضِلُّونَكُمْ
they may mislead you,
وَمَا
and not
يُضِلُّونَ
they mislead
إِلَّآ
except
أَنفُسَهُمْ
their own selves
وَمَا
while not
يَشْعُرُونَ
they realize.
٣
٦٩
وَدَّت طَّآئِفَةٌۭ مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَوْ يُضِلُّونَكُمْ وَمَا يُضِلُّونَ إِلَّآ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ And desire groups from the holders of the Book that if they may mislead you, and not they mislead except their own selves while not they realize.

A party of the People of the Scripture long to make you go astray; and they make none to go astray except themselves, but they perceive not. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

لِمَ
Why
تَكْفُرُونَ
do you deny
بِـَٔايَٰتِ
regarding signs of
ٱللَّهِ
the One
وَأَنتُمْ
while you
تَشْهَدُونَ
are witness?
O possessors of the Book! Why do you deny regarding signs of the One while you are witness?
⦿
O People of the Scripture! Why disbelieve ye in the revelations of Allah, when ye (yourselves) bear witness (to their truth)? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

O family of
ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
the Book!
لِمَ
Why
تَلْبِسُونَ
do you dress up
ٱلْحَقَّ
the fact
بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ
through fiction,
وَتَكْتُمُونَ
and you hide
ٱلْحَقَّ
the truth
وَأَنتُمْ
while you
تَعْلَمُونَ
are knowing?
٣
٧١
يَٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لِمَ تَلْبِسُونَ ٱلْحَقَّ بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ وَتَكْتُمُونَ ٱلْحَقَّ وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ O family of the Book! Why do you dress up the fact through fiction, and you hide the truth while you are knowing?

O People of the Scripture! Why confound ye truth with falsehood and knowingly conceal the truth? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

وَقَالَت
And say
طَّآئِفَةٌۭ
a group (a sect)
مِّنْ
from
أَهْلِ
holders of
ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
the Book,
ءَامِنُوا۟
[Assure
بِٱلَّذِىٓ
by that which
أُنزِلَ
is sent down
عَلَى
upon
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
ءَامَنُوا۟
trust
وَجْهَ
at face of
ٱلنَّهَارِ
the day-burst,
وَٱكْفُرُوٓا۟
and deny
ءَاخِرَهُۥ
later of it
لَعَلَّهُمْ
so that they may
يَرْجِعُونَ
retreat.]

٧٢
وَقَالَت طَّآئِفَةٌۭ مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِٱلَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَجْهَ ٱلنَّهَارِ وَٱكْفُرُوٓا۟ ءَاخِرَهُۥ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ And say a group (a sect) from holders of the Book, [Assure by that which is sent down upon the ones who trust at face of the day-burst, and deny later of it so that they may retreat.]

And a party of the People of the Scripture say: Believe in that which hath been revealed unto those who believe at the opening of the day, and disbelieve at the end thereof, in order that they may return; - Pickthall, Marmaduke
⦿
A group of the People of the Book say, [Believe in what has been sent down to the faithful at the beginning of the day, and disbelieve at its end, so that they may turn back [from their religion].] - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
Some of the People of the Book say, [Believe in what is revealed to the Muslims during the day only and abandon it in the evening. This will perhaps make them give up their religion]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And a party of the followers of the Book say: Avow belief in that which has been revealed to those who believe, in the first part of the day, and disbelieve at the end of it, perhaps they go back on their religion. - Shakir, Habib

Some of the People of the Book say to one another, [Believe in what is revealed to the faithful in the morning and deny it in the evening, so that they [the Muslims] may themselves abandon their faith [in confusion]. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور اہلِ کتاب کی ایک جماعت نے اپنے ساتھیوں سے کہا کہ جو کچھ ایمان والوں پر نازل ہوا ہے اس پر صبح کو ایمان لے آؤ اور شام کو انکار کر دو شاید اس طرح وہ لوگ بھی پلٹ جائیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اہل کتاب میں سے ایک گروہ کہتا ہے کہ اس نبی کے ماننے والوں پر جو کچھ نازل ہوا ہے اس پر صبح ایمان لاؤ اور شام کو اس سے انکار کر دو، شاید اس ترکیب سے یہ لوگ اپنے ایمان سے پھر جائیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

And not
تُؤْمِنُوٓا۟

your governance;
قُلْ
say,
إِنَّ
[Surely
ٱلْهُدَىٰ
the true guidance is
هُدَى
guidance of
ٱللَّهِ
the One
أَن
that
يُؤْتَىٰٓ
may come to
أَحَدٌۭ
any one
مِّثْلَ
like
مَآ
what
أُوتِيتُمْ
comes to you,
أَوْ
or
يُحَآجُّوكُمْ
debates with you all
عِندَ
against
رَبِّكُمْ
your Nourisher.]
ۗ
قُلْ
Say,
إِنَّ
[Surely
ٱلْفَضْلَ
the grace is
بِيَدِ
by hand of
ٱللَّهِ
the One;
يُؤْتِيهِ
He gives it
مَن
to whom
يَشَآءُ
He desires.
ۗ
وَٱللَّهُ
And the One is
وَٰسِعٌ
extendedly
عَلِيمٌۭ
well informed.]
٣
٧٣
وَلَا تُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ إِلَّا لِمَن تَبِعَ دِينَكُمْ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْهُدَىٰ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ أَن يُؤْتَىٰٓ أَحَدٌۭ مِّثْلَ مَآ أُوتِيتُمْ أَوْ يُحَآجُّوكُمْ عِندَ رَبِّكُمْ ۗ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْفَضْلَ بِيَدِ ٱللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَآءُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٌۭ And not can have trust except for who adheres to your governance; say, [Surely the true guidance is guidance of the One that may come to any one like what comes to you, or debates with you all against your Nourisher.] Say, [Surely the grace is by hand of the One; He gives it to whom He desires. And the One is extendedly well informed.]

And believe not save in one who followeth your religion - Say (O Muhammad): Lo! the guidance is Allah's Guidance - that anyone is given the like of that which was given unto you or that they may argue with you in the presence of their Lord. Say (O Muhammad): Lo! the bounty is in Allah's hand. He bestoweth it on whom He will. Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And [they say,] [Do not believe anyone except him who follows your religion.] Say, [Indeed [true] guidance is the guidance of Allah.] [They also say.] [[Do not believe] that anyone may be given the like of what you were given, or that he may argue with you before your Lord.] Say, [Indeed all grace is in Allah]s hand; He grants it to whomever He wishes, and Allah is all-bounteous, all-knowing. - Qarai, Ali Quli

They also say, [Do not believe anyone except those who follow your religion, so that no one may have what you have received or may argue with you before your Lord.] (Muhammad), tell them, [The only guidance is the guidance of God. All favors are in the hands of God. He grants His favors to whomever He wants. He is Munificent and All-knowing]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And do not believe but in him who follows your religion. Say: Surely the (true) guidance is the guidance of Allah-- that one may be given (by Him) the like of what you were given; or they would contend with you by an argument before your Lord. Say: Surely grace is in the hand of Allah, He gives it to whom He pleases; and Allah is Ample-giving, Knowing. - Shakir, Habib

Believe only in those who follow your own religion.] Say to them, [Surely, the true guidance is the guidance from God.] [But you think it is impossible that] someone else may be granted [revelation] such as you were granted -- or else that they should contend against you before your Lord. اور خبردار ان لوگوں کے علاوہ کسی پر اعتبار نہ کرنا جو تمہارے دین کا اتباع کرتے ہیں.... پیغمبر آپ کہہ دیں کہ ہدایت صرف خدا کی ہدایت ہے اور ہرگز یہ نہ ماننا کہ خدا ویسی ہی فضیلت اور نبوت کسی اور کو بھی دے سکتا ہے جیسی تم کو دی ہے یا کوئی تم سے پیش پروردگار بحث بھی کرسکتا ہے پیغمبر آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ فضل و کرم خدا کے ہاتھ میں ہے وہ جسے چاہتا عطا کرتا ہے اور وہ صاحبِ وسعت بھی ہے اور صاحبِ علم بھی - Jawadi, Zeeshan

نیز یہ لوگ آپس میں کہتے ہیں کہ اپنے مذہب والے کے سوا کسی کی بات نہ مانو اے نبیؐ! ان سے کہہ دو کہ، ——اصل میں ہدایت تو اللہ کی ہدایت ہے اور یہ اُسی کی دین ہے کہ کسی کو وہی کچھ دے دیا جائے جو کبھی تم کو دیا گیا تھا، یا یہ کہ دوسروں کو تمہارے رب کے حضور پیش کرنے کے لیے تمہارے خلاف قوی حجت مل جائے—— اے نبیؐ! ان سے کہو کہ، ——فضل و شرف اللہ کے اختیار میں ہے، جسے چاہے عطا فرمائے وہ وسیع النظر ہے اور سب کچھ جانتا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

ٱلْعَظِيمِ
the might.]
[He chooses regarding His blessings whom He desires; and the One is possessor of the grace, the might.]

with singular unit of currency,
لَّا
not
يُؤَدِّهِۦٓ
will give it back
إِلَيْكَ
to you
إِلَّا
except
مَا
when
دُمْتَ
chasing
عَلَيْهِ
upon him
قَآئِمًۭا
persistently;
ۗ
ذَٰلِكَ
that is
بِأَنَّهُمْ
due to them
قَالُوا۟
saying,
لَيْسَ
[It is not
عَلَيْنَا
on us
فِى
in (matters of)
ٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَ
the unlettered
سَبِيلٌۭ
a way.],
وَيَقُولُونَ
and say
عَلَى
upon
ٱللَّهِ
the One
ٱلْكَذِبَ
the lie
وَهُمْ
and they
يَعْلَمُونَ
are knowing of it.

٧٥
وَمِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ مَنْ إِن تَأْمَنْهُ بِقِنطَارٍۢ يُؤَدِّهِۦٓ إِلَيْكَ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ إِن تَأْمَنْهُ بِدِينَارٍۢ لَّا يُؤَدِّهِۦٓ إِلَيْكَ إِلَّا مَا دُمْتَ عَلَيْهِ قَآئِمًۭا ۗ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا۟ لَيْسَ عَلَيْنَا فِى ٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَ سَبِيلٌۭ وَيَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ And from holders of the Book is that who if you trust with heaps of gold he will give it back properly to you, from them is that who if you trust with singular unit of currency, not will give it back to you except when chasing upon him persistently; that is due to them saying, [It is not on us in (matters of) the unlettered a way.], and say upon the One the lie and they are knowing of it.

Among the People of the Scripture there is he who, if thou trust him with a weight of treasure, will return it to thee. And among them there is he who, if thou trust him with a piece of gold, will not return it to thee unless thou keep standing over him. That is because they say: We have no duty to the Gentiles. They speak a lie concerning Allah knowingly. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Among the People of the Book is he who if you entrust him with a quintal will repay it to you, and among them is he who, if you entrust him with a dinar will not repay it to you unless you stand persistently over him. That is because they say, [We have no obligation to the non-Jews.] But they attribute lies to Allah, and they know [it]. - Qarai, Ali Quli

If you entrust some of the People of the Book, with a large quantity of gold, they will return it to you while if you entrust others among them with a small quantity of gold, they will not give it back to you unless you keep insisting on its return. For they say, [We are not bound to keep our words with the illiterate people,] and they themselves knowingly ascribe false statements to God. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And among the followers of the Book there are some such that if you entrust one (of them) with a heap of wealth, he shall pay it back to you; and among them there are some such that if you entrust one (of them) with a dinar he shall not pay it back to you except so long as you remain firm in demanding it; this is because they say: There is not upon us in the matter of the unlearned people any way (to reproach); and they tell a lie against Allah while they know. - Shakir, Habib

اور اہلِ کتاب میں سے کچھ ایسے بھی ہیں جن کے پاس ڈھیر بھر مال بھی امانت رکھ دیا جائے تو واپس کردیں گے اور کچھ ایسے بھی ہیں کہ ایک دینار بھی امانت رکھ دی جائے تو اس وقت تک واپس نہ کریں گے جب تک ان کے سر پر کھڑے نہ رہو- یہ اس لئے کہ ان کا کہنا یہ ہے کہ عربوں کی طرف سے ہمارے اوپر کوئی ذمہ داری نہیں ہے یہ خدا کے خلاف جھوٹ بولتے ہیں اور جانتے بھی ہیں کہ جھوٹے ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اہل کتاب میں کوئی تو ایسا ہے کہ اگر تم اس کے اعتماد پر مال و دولت کا ایک ڈھیر بھی دے دو تو وہ تمہارا مال تمہیں ادا کر دے گا، اور کسی کا حال یہ ہے کہ اگر تم ایک دینار کے معاملہ میں بھی اس پر بھروسہ کرو تو وہ ادا نہ کرے گا الّا یہ کہ تم اس کے سر پر سوار ہو جاؤ اُن کی اس اخلاقی حالت کا سبب یہ ہے کہ وہ کہتے ہیں، ——امیوں (غیر یہودی لوگوں) کے معاملہ میں ہم پر کوئی مواخذہ نہیں ہے—— اور یہ بات وہ محض جھوٹ گھڑ کر اللہ کی طرف منسوب کرتے ہیں، حالانکہ انہیں معلوم ہے کہ اللہ نے ایسی کوئی بات نہیں فرمائی ہے آخر کیوں اُن سے باز پرس نہ ہوگی؟ - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور کتابیوں میں کوئی وہ ہے کہ اگر تو اس کے پاس ایک ڈھیر امانت رکھے تو وہ تجھے ادا کردے گا اور ان میں کوئی وہ ہے کہ اگر ایک اشرفی اس کے پاس امانت رکھے تو وہ تجھے پھیر کر نہ دے گا مگر جب تک تو اس کے سر پر کھڑا رہے یہ اس لئے کہ وہ کہتے ہیں کہ اَن پڑھوں کے معاملہ میں ہم پر کوئی مؤاخذہ نہیں اور اللہ پر جان بوجھ کر جھوٹ باندھتے ہیں - Ahmed Raza

اور اہل کتاب میں سے کوئی تو ایسا ہے۔ کہ اگر تم ڈھیر بھر روپیہ بھی بطور امانت اس کے پاس رکھو تو وہ تمہیں ادا کر دے گا۔ اور ان میں کوئی ایسا بھی ہے کہ اگر اس کے پاس ایک دینار (اشرفی) بھی بطور امانت رکھو تو جب تک تم اس کے سر پر کھڑے نہ رہو وہ تمہیں واپس نہیں کرے گا (یہ بدمعاملگی) اس وجہ سے ہے کہ ان کا قول ہے کہ ہم پر امیّون (ان پڑھ عربوں جوکہ اہل کتاب نہیں) کے بارے میں کوئی پابندی نہیں ہے۔ اور وہ جان بوجھ کر اللہ پر جھوٹ منڈھتے ہیں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

Whereas certainly
مَنْ
who
أَوْفَىٰ
honours
بِعَهْدِهِۦ
regarding his promise,
وَٱتَّقَىٰ
and is aware,
فَإِنَّ
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
the One
يُحِبُّ
loves
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
the aware ones.
Whereas certainly who honours regarding his promise, and is aware, then indeed the One loves the aware ones.

Nay, but (the chosen of Allah is) he who fulfilleth his pledge and wardeth off (evil); for lo! Allah loveth those who ward off (evil). - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Yes, whoever fulfills his commitments and is wary of Allah—Allah indeed loves the Godwary. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Those who keep their promise and observe piety should know that God certainly loves the pious ones. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Yea, whoever fulfills his promise and guards (against evil)-- then surely Allah loves those who guard (against evil). - Shakir, Habib

Indeed God loves those who honour their covenants and fear Him. God loves the righteous. - Wahiduddin Khan

Surely
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones
يَشْتَرُونَ
who exchange
بِعَهْدِ
with covenant of
ٱللَّهِ
the One
وَأَيْمَٰنِهِمْ
and their oaths
ثَمَنًۭا
for a price
قَلِيلًا
that is poor,
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
they are who
لَا
do not (have)
خَلَٰقَ
anything created
لَهُمْ
for them
فِى
in
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
the forthcoming,
وَلَا
and not
يُكَلِّمُهُمُ
will communicate with them
ٱللَّهُ
the One,
وَلَا
and not
يَنظُرُ
will have consideration
إِلَيْهِمْ
towards them
يَوْمَ
on day of
ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ
the establishment,
وَلَا
and not
يُزَكِّيهِمْ
will He emancipate them,
وَلَهُمْ
and for them is
عَذَابٌ
an anguish
أَلِيمٌۭ
of pain.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِعَهْدِ ٱللَّهِ وَأَيْمَٰنِهِمْ ثَمَنًۭا قَلِيلًا أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَا خَلَٰقَ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَلَا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَلَا يَنظُرُ إِلَيْهِمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وَلَا يُزَكِّيهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ Surely the ones who exchange with covenant of the One and their oaths for a price that is poor, they are who do not (have) anything created for them in the forthcoming, and not will communicate with them the One, and not will have consideration towards them on day of the establishment, and not will He emancipate them, and for them is an anguish of pain.

Lo! those who purchase a small gain at the cost of Allah's covenant and their oaths, they have no portion in the Hereafter. Allah will neither speak to them nor look upon them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He make them grow. Theirs will be a painful doom. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

There shall be no share in the Hereafter for those who sell Allah]s covenant and their oaths for a paltry gain, and on the Day of Resurrection Allah will not speak to them nor will He [so much as] look at them, nor will He purify them, and there is a painful punishment for them. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Those who sell their covenant with God and their promises for a small price will have no share in the life hereafter. God will not speak to them nor will He look at them on the Day of Judgment nor will He purify them. They will face a painful torment. - Sarwar, Muhammad

(As for) those who take a small price for the covenant of Allah and their own oaths-- surely they shall have no portion in the hereafter, and Allah will not speak to them, nor will He look upon them on the day of resurrection nor will He purify them, and they shall have a painful chastisement. - Shakir, Habib

Those who sell out God's covenant and their oaths for a paltry price will have no share in the life to come on the Day of Resurrection. God will neither speak to them nor cast a look upon them on the Day of Judgement, nor will He purify them. For them there shall be a grievous punishment. - Wahiduddin Khan

وَإِنَّ
And it is that
مِنْهُمْ
from them
لَفَرِيقًۭا
are sectarians
يَلْوُۥنَ
who twist
أَلْسِنَتَهُم
their language
بِٱلْكِتَٰبِ
regarding the Book
لِتَحْسَبُوهُ
to make you think that it is
مِنَ
from
ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
the Book,
وَمَا
while not
هُوَ
it is
مِنَ
from
ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
the Book,
وَيَقُولُونَ
and they say
هُوَ
it is
مِنْ
from
عِندِ
nearing
ٱللَّهِ
the One,
وَمَا
while not
هُوَ
it is
مِنْ
from
عِندِ
nearing
ٱللَّهِ
the One,
وَيَقُولُونَ
and they say
عَلَى
upon
ٱللَّهِ
the One
ٱلْكَذِبَ
lies,
وَهُمْ
and they
يَعْلَمُونَ
know.
٣
٧٨
وَإِنَّ مِنْهُمْ لَفَرِيقًۭا يَلْوُۥنَ أَلْسِنَتَهُم بِٱلْكِتَٰبِ لِتَحْسَبُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَمَا هُوَ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَيَقُولُونَ هُوَ مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا هُوَ مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ And it is that from them are sectarians who twist their language regarding the Book to make you think that it is from the Book, while not it is from the Book, and they say it is from nearing the One, while not it is from nearing the One, and they say upon the One lies, and they know.

And lo! there is a party of them who distort the Scripture with their tongues, that ye may think that what they say is from the Scripture, when it is not from the Scripture. And they say: It is from Allah, when it is not from Allah; and they speak a lie concerning Allah knowingly. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

There is a group of them who alter their voice while reading out a text [that they have themselves authored], so that you may suppose it to be from the Book, though it is not from the Book, and they say, [It is from Allah,] though it is not from Allah, and they attribute lies to Allah, and they know [it]. - Qarai, Ali Quli

A group among the People of the Book when reading the Bible, deliberately mispronounce words in order to change their meaning, try to show that what they have read is from the true Bible. In fact, what they have read is not from the true Bible. They say, [What we read is from God.] In reality, it is not from God. They knowingly ascribe false statements to God. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Most surely there is a party amongst those who distort the Book with their tongue that you may consider it to be (a part) of the Book, and they say, It is from Allah, while it is not from Allah, and they tell a lie against Allah whilst they know. - Shakir, Habib

There are some among them who distort the Book by the way they speak to make you think that what they say is from the Book, whereas it is not. They say it is from God whereas it is not. Thus they tell a lie about God and they know it. - Wahiduddin Khan

ان ہی یہودیوں میں سے بعض وہ ہیں جو کتاب پڑھنے میں زبان کو توڑ موڑ دیتے ہیں تاکہ تم لوگ اس تحریف کو بھی اصل کتاب سمجھنے لگو حالانکہ وہ اصل کتاب نہیں ہے اور یہ لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ یہ سب اللہ کی طرف سے ہے حالانکہ اللہ کی طرف سے ہرگز نہیں ہے یہ خدا کے خلاف جھوٹ بولتے ہیں حالانکہ سب جانتے ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اُن میں کچھ لوگ ایسے ہیں جو کتاب پڑھتے ہوئے اس طرح زبان کا الٹ پھیر کرتے ہیں کہ تم سمجھو جو کچھ وہ پڑھ رہے ہیں وہ کتاب ہی کی عبارت ہے، حالانکہ وہ کتاب کی عبارت نہیں ہوتی، وہ کہتے ہیں کہ یہ جو کچھ ہم پڑھ رہے ہیں یہ خدا کی طرف سے ہے، حالانکہ وہ خدا کی طرف سے نہیں ہوتا، وہ جان بوجھ کر جھوٹ بات اللہ کی طرف منسوب کر دیتے ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور ان میں کچھ وہ ہیں جو زبان پھیر کر کتاب میں میل (ملاوٹ) کرتے ہیں کہ تم سمجھو یہ بھی کتاب میں ہے اور وہ کتاب میں نہیں، اور وہ کہتے ہیں یہ اللہ کے پاس سے ہے اور وہ اللہ کے پاس سے نہیں، اور اللہ پر دیدہ و دانستہ جھوٹ باندھتے ہیں - Ahmed Raza

بے شک ان (اہل کتاب) سے ایک گروہ ایسا بھی ہے۔ جو اپنی زبانوں کو کتاب (توراۃ وغیرہ) کے پڑھنے میں مروڑتا ہے اور کچھ کا کچھ پڑھتا ہے تاکہ تم یہ سمجھو کہ یہ (توڑ موڑ) بھی کتاب خدا میں سے ہے حالانکہ وہ کتاب میں سے نہیں ہے۔ اور کہتا ہے کہ وہ خدا کی طرف سے (آیا) ہے حالانکہ وہ خدا کی طرف سے نہیں ہے یہ جان بوجھ کر خدا پر جھوٹ باندھتا ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

Not
كَانَ
was
لِبَشَرٍ
for a human
أَن
that
يُؤْتِيَهُ
gives to him,
ٱللَّهُ
the One,
ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
the Book
وَٱلْحُكْمَ
and the wisdom
وَٱلنُّبُوَّةَ
and the leadership,
ثُمَّ
then
يَقُولَ
the man says
لِلنَّاسِ
to the people,
كُونُوا۟
[You have to be
عِبَادًۭا
slaves
لِّى
for me
مِن
from
دُونِ
other than
ٱللَّهِ
the One],
وَلَٰكِن
rather the man says,
كُونُوا۟
[You ought to be
رَبَّٰنِيِّـۧنَ
leaders
بِمَا
due to what
كُنتُمْ
you are
تُعَلِّمُونَ
being taught of
ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
the Book
وَبِمَا
and due to what
كُنتُمْ
you are
تَدْرُسُونَ
learning.]

٧٩
مَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ أَن يُؤْتِيَهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْحُكْمَ وَٱلنُّبُوَّةَ ثُمَّ يَقُولَ لِلنَّاسِ كُونُوا۟ عِبَادًۭا لِّى مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَٰكِن كُونُوا۟ رَبَّٰنِيِّـۧنَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تُعَلِّمُونَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَبِمَا كُنتُمْ تَدْرُسُونَ Not was for a human that gives to him, the One, the Book and the wisdom and the leadership, then the man says to the people, [You have to be slaves for me from other than the One], rather the man says, [You ought to be leaders due to what you are being taught of the Book and due to what you are learning.]

It is not (possible) for any human being unto whom Allah had given the Scripture and wisdom and the prophethood that he should afterwards have said unto mankind: Be slaves of me instead of Allah; but (what he said was): Be ye faithful servants of the Lord by virtue of your constant teaching of the Scripture and of your constant study thereof. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

It does not behoove any human that Allah should give him the Book, judgement and prophethood, and then he should say to the people, [Be my servants instead of Allah.] Rather [he would say], [Be a godly people, because of your teaching the Book and because of your studying it.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

God would never give the Book, authority, or prophesy to any person who would tell others to be his servants instead of being the servants of God. He would rather tell them to worship God for they had been teaching and studying the Book. - Sarwar, Muhammad

It is not meet for a mortal that Allah should give him the Book and the wisdom and prophethood, then he should say to men: Be my servants rather than Allah's; but rather (he would say): Be worshippers of the Lord because of your teaching the Book and your reading (it yourselves). - Shakir, Habib

No one to whom God has given the Scriptures and on whom He has bestowed wisdom and prophethood would say to men, [Worship me instead of God.] [He would say rather], [Be devoted servants of God, for you have taught and studied the Scriptures.] - Wahiduddin Khan

کسی بشر کے لئے یہ مناسب نہیں ہے کہ خدا اسے کتاب و حکمت اور نبوت عطا کردے اور پھر وہ لوگوں سے یہ کہنے لگے کہ خدا کو چھوڑ کر ہمارے بندے بن جاؤ بلکہ اس کا قول یہی ہوتا ہے کہ اللہ والے بنو کہ تم کتاب کی تعلیم بھی دیتے ہو اور اسے پڑھتے بھی رہتے ہو - Jawadi, Zeeshan

کسی آدمی کا یہ حق نہیں کہ اللہ اسے کتاب اور حکم و پیغمبری دے پھر وہ لوگوں سے کہے کہ اللہ کو چھوڑ کر میرے بندے ہوجاؤ ہاں یہ کہے گا کہ اللہ والے ہوجاؤ اس سبب سے کہ تم کتاب سکھاتے ہو اور اس سے کہ تم درس کرتے ہو - Ahmed Raza

کسی ایسے انسان کو یہ بات زیب نہیں دیتی جسے خدا کتاب، حکمت (یا اقتدار) اور نبوت عطا فرمائے اور وہ لوگوں سے کہے کہ تم خدا کو چھوڑ کر میرے بندے بن جاؤ (میری عبادت کرو) بلکہ (وہ تو یہ کہے گا کہ) تم اللہ والے ہو جاؤ۔ اس بنا پر کہ تم کتابِ الٰہی کی تعلیم دیتے ہو۔ اور اسے پڑھتے بھی رہتے ہو۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

وَلَا
Neither
يَأْمُرَكُمْ
he commands you
أَن
that
تَتَّخِذُوا۟
you take
ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ
the malaikati
وَٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ
and the revolutionary leaders
أَرْبَابًا
as gods.
ۗ
أَيَأْمُرُكُم
Are you all to command
بِٱلْكُفْرِ
with denial
بَعْدَ
after
إِذْ
when
أَنتُم
you have been
مُّسْلِمُونَ
those who have submitted?
٣
٨٠
وَلَا يَأْمُرَكُمْ أَن تَتَّخِذُوا۟ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ وَٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ أَرْبَابًا ۗ أَيَأْمُرُكُم بِٱلْكُفْرِ بَعْدَ إِذْ أَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ Neither he commands you that you take the malaikati and the revolutionary leaders as gods. Are you all to command with denial after when you have been those who have submitted?

And he commanded you not that ye should take the angels and the prophets for lords. Would he command you to disbelieve after ye had surrendered (to Allah)? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And he would not command you to take the angels and the prophets for lords. Would he call you to unfaith after you have submitted [to Allah]? - Qarai, Ali Quli

A Prophet would never order you to take the angels and the Prophets as your Lords. Would he order you to disbelieve after you have submitted yourselves to God? - Sarwar, Muhammad

And neither would he enjoin you that you should take the angels and the prophets for lords; what! would he enjoin you with unbelief after you are Muslims? - Shakir, Habib

Nor would he enjoin you to take the angels and the prophets as your lords; how could he command you to be disbelievers after you have submitted to God. - Wahiduddin Khan

وہ یہ حکم بھی نہیں دے سکتا کہ ملائکہ یا انبیائ کو اپنا پروردگار بنالو کیا وہ تمہیں کفر کا حکم دے سکتا ہے جب کہ تم لوگ مسلمان ہو - Jawadi, Zeeshan

وہ تم سے ہرگز یہ نہ کہے گا کہ فرشتوں کو یا پیغمبروں کو اپنا رب بنا لو کیا یہ ممکن ہے کہ ایک نبی تمہیں کفر کا حکم دے جب کہ تم مسلم ہو؟ - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور نہ تمہیں یہ حکم دے گا کہ فرشتوں اور پیغمبروں کو خدا ٹھیرالو، کیا تمہیں کفر کا حکم دے گا بعد اس کے کہ تم مسلمان ہولیے - Ahmed Raza

وَإِذْ
And when
أَخَذَ
took
ٱللَّهُ
the One
مِيثَٰقَ
ratification from
ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ
the revolutionary leaders,
لَمَآ
[For what
ءَاتَيْتُكُم
I give to you all
مِّن
from
كِتَٰبٍۢ
that book
وَحِكْمَةٍۢ
and wisdom,
ثُمَّ
then
جَآءَكُمْ
comes to you
رَسُولٌۭ
a messenger
مُّصَدِّقٌۭ
being a verification
لِّمَا
for what is
مَعَكُمْ
with you,
لَتُؤْمِنُنَّ
you are to have trust
بِهِۦ
about him
وَلَتَنصُرُنَّهُۥ
and are to be helpers for him.]
ۚ
قَالَ
(The One) said,
ءَأَقْرَرْتُمْ
[Do you accept
وَأَخَذْتُمْ
and you take
عَلَىٰ
upon
ذَٰلِكُمْ
that for you
إِصْرِى
as My bond?]
ۖ
قَالُوٓا۟
They replied,
أَقْرَرْنَا
[We accept!].
ۚ
قَالَ
(The One) said,
فَٱشْهَدُوا۟
[Thus be witness
وَأَنَا۠
and I am
مَعَكُم
with you
مِّنَ
of
ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ
the witnesses.]
٣
٨١
وَإِذْ أَخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِيثَٰقَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ لَمَآ ءَاتَيْتُكُم مِّن كِتَٰبٍۢ وَحِكْمَةٍۢ ثُمَّ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولٌۭ مُّصَدِّقٌۭ لِّمَا مَعَكُمْ لَتُؤْمِنُنَّ بِهِۦ وَلَتَنصُرُنَّهُۥ ۚ قَالَ ءَأَقْرَرْتُمْ وَأَخَذْتُمْ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكُمْ إِصْرِى ۖ قَالُوٓا۟ أَقْرَرْنَا ۚ قَالَ فَٱشْهَدُوا۟ وَأَنَا۠ مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ And when took the One ratification from the revolutionary leaders, [For what I give to you all from that book and wisdom, then comes to you a messenger being a verification for what is with you, you are to have trust about him and are to be helpers for him.] (The One) said, [Do you accept and you take upon that for you as My bond?] They replied, [We accept!]. (The One) said, [Thus be witness and I am with you of the witnesses.]

When Allah made (His) covenant with the prophets, (He said): Behold that which I have given you of the Scripture and knowledge. And afterward there will come unto you a messenger, confirming that which ye possess. Ye shall believe in him and ye shall help him. He said: Do ye agree, and will ye take up My burden (which I lay upon you) in this (matter)? They answered: We agree. He said: Then bear ye witness. I will be a witness with you. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

When Allah took a compact concerning the prophets, [He said,] [Inasmuch as I have given you [the knowledge] of the Book and wisdom, should an apostle come to you thereafter confirming what is with you, you shall believe in him and help him.] He said, [Do you pledge and accept My covenant on this condition?] They said, [We pledge.] He said, [Then be witnesses, and I, too, am among the witnesses along with you.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

When God made a covenant with the Prophets, saying, [When I give you the Book and wisdom and a Messenger comes to you who will testify to the guidance which you have received from Me, you must believe in him and help him, then He asked them, [Do you affirm and accept my covenant?] They replied, [Yes, we affirm it.] The Lord said, [Then bear witness to this and I shall bear witness with you]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And when Allah made a covenant through the prophets: Certainly what I have given you of Book and wisdom-- then an apostle comes to you verifying that which is with you, you must believe in him, and you must aid him. He said: Do you affirm and accept My compact in this (matter)? They said: We do affirm. He said: Then bear witness, and I (too) am of the bearers of witness with you. - Shakir, Habib

When God made a covenant with the prophets, He said, [Here is the Book and the wisdom which I have given you. When there comes to you a messenger fulfilling that [predictions about him in their Scripture] which is with you, you must believe in him and help him. Do you then affirm this and accept the responsibility I have laid upon you in these terms?] They said, [We will affirm it.] God said, [Then bear witness, and I will bear witness with you.] - Wahiduddin Khan

اور اس وقت کو یاد کرو جب خدا نے تمام انبیائ سے عہد لیا کہ ہم تم کو جو کتاب و حکمت دے رہے ہیں اس کے بعد جب وہ رسول آجائے جو تمہاری کتابوں کی تصدیق کرنے والا ہے تو تم سب اس پر ایمان لے آنا اور اس کی مدد کرنا .اور پھر پوچھا کیا تم نے ان باتوں کا اقرار کرلیا اور ہمارے عہد کو قبول کرلیا تو سب نے کہا بیشک ہم نے اقرار کرلیا- ارشاد ہوا کہ اب تم سب گواہ بھی رہنا اور میں بھی تمہارے ساتھ گواہوں میں ہوں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

یاد کرو، اللہ نے پیغمبروں سے عہد لیا تھا کہ، ——آج ہم نے تمہیں کتاب اور حکمت و دانش سے نوازا ہے، کل اگر کوئی دوسرا رسول تمہارے پاس اُسی تعلیم کی تصدیق کرتا ہوا آئے جو پہلے سے تمہارے پاس موجود ہے، تو تم کو اس پر ایمان لانا ہوگا اور اس کی مدد کرنی ہوگی—— یہ ارشاد فرما کر اللہ نے پوچھا، ——کیا تم اِس کا اقرار کرتے ہو اور اس پر میری طرف سے عہد کی بھاری ذمہ داری اٹھاتے ہو؟—— اُنہوں نے کہا ہاں ہم اقرار کرتے ہیں اللہ نے فرمایا، ——اچھا تو گواہ رہو اور میں بھی تمہارے ساتھ گواہ ہوں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور یاد کرو جب اللہ نے پیغمبروں سے ان کا عہد لیا جو میں تم کو کتاب اور حکمت دوں پھر تشریف لائے تمہارے پاس وہ رسول کہ تمہاری کتابوں کی تصدیق فرمائے تو تم ضرور ضرور اس پر ایمان لانا اور ضرور ضرور اس کی مدد کرنا، فرمایا کیوں تم نے اقرار کیا اور اس پر میرا بھاری ذمہ لیا؟ سب نے عرض کی، ہم نے اقرار کیا، فرمایا تو ایک دوسرے پر گواہ ہوجاؤ اور میں آپ تمہارے ساتھ گواہوں میں ہوں، - Ahmed Raza

اور (یاد کرو) جب خدا نے تمام پیغمبروں سے یہ عہد و اقرار لیا تھا کہ میں نے جو تمہیں کتاب و حکمت عطا کی ہے۔ اس کے بعد جب تمہارے پاس ایک عظیم رسول آئے جو تمہارے پاس کی چیزوں (کتابوں) کی تصدیق کرنے والا ہو تو تم اس پر ضرور ایمان لانا اور ضرور اس کی مدد کرنا ارشاد ہوا۔ کیا تم اقرار کرتے ہو؟ اور اس پر میرے عہد و پیمان کو قبول کرتے ہو اور یہ ذمہ داری اٹھاتے ہو؟ انہوں نے کہا ہاں ہم نے اقرار کیا۔ ارشاد ہوا۔ تم سب گواہ رہنا اور میں بھی تمہارے ساتھ گواہوں میں سے ہوں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

[Then who
تَوَلَّىٰ
turns back
بَعْدَ

فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
then they

ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَ
the liberals.]
[Then who turns back after that then they are the liberals.]

Then whosoever after this shall turn away: they will be miscreants. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
and the Earth,
طَوْعًۭا
voluntarily
وَكَرْهًۭا
and involuntarily,
وَإِلَيْهِ
and towards Him
يُرْجَعُونَ
they are to return.?

٨٣
أَفَغَيْرَ دِينِ ٱللَّهِ يَبْغُونَ وَلَهُۥٓ أَسْلَمَ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ طَوْعًۭا وَكَرْهًۭا وَإِلَيْهِ يُرْجَعُونَ Is it other than governance of the One they seek, while to Him submits whatever is in the heavens and the Earth, voluntarily and involuntarily, and towards Him they are to return.?

Seek they other than the religion of Allah, when unto Him submitteth whosoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and unto Him they will be returned. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Do they seek a religion other than that of Allah, while to Him submits whoever there is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and to Him they will be brought back? - Qarai, Ali Quli

Do they want a religion other than the religion of God when all that is in the heavens and the earth have submitted themselves to His will, either by their own free will or by force? To God do all things return. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Is it then other than Allah's religion that they seek (to follow), and to Him submits whoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and to Him shall they be returned. - Shakir, Habib

اب کیا یہ لوگ اللہ کی اطاعت کا طریقہ (دین اللہ) چھوڑ کر کوئی اور طریقہ چاہتے ہیں؟ حالانکہ آسمان و زمین کی ساری چیزیں چار و نا چار اللہ ہی کی تابع فرمان (مسلم) ہیں اور اُسی کی طرف سب کو پلٹنا ہے؟ - Maududi, Abul A'ala

Say,
ءَامَنَّا
[We are convinced
بِٱللَّهِ
regarding the One
وَمَآ
and what
أُنزِلَ
was sent
عَلَيْنَا
upon us,
وَمَآ
and what
أُنزِلَ
was sent
عَلَىٰٓ
upon
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
Ibrahim
وَإِسْمَٰعِيلَ
and Isma'eel
وَإِسْحَٰقَ
and Ishaaq
وَيَعْقُوبَ
and Yaqoob
وَٱلْأَسْبَاطِ
and the tribes,
وَمَآ
and what
أُوتِىَ
was given to
مُوسَىٰ
Moosa
وَعِيسَىٰ
and Essa
وَٱلنَّبِيُّونَ
and the revolutionary leaders
مِن
from
رَّبِّهِمْ
their Rabb,
لَا
not
نُفَرِّقُ
we distinguish (or form a sect)
بَيْنَ
between
أَحَدٍۢ
any one
مِّنْهُمْ
of them
وَنَحْنُ
and we
لَهُۥ
for Him are
مُسْلِمُونَ
in submission.]

٨٤
قُلْ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا وَمَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْمَٰعِيلَ وَإِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَٱلْأَسْبَاطِ وَمَآ أُوتِىَ مُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰ وَٱلنَّبِيُّونَ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍۢ مِّنْهُمْ وَنَحْنُ لَهُۥ مُسْلِمُونَ Say, [We are convinced regarding the One and what was sent upon us, and what was sent upon Ibrahim and Isma'eel and Ishaaq and Yaqoob and the tribes, and what was given to Moosa and Essa and the revolutionary leaders from their Rabb, not we distinguish (or form a sect) between any one of them and we for Him are in submission.]

Say (O Muhammad): We believe in Allah and that which is revealed unto us and that which was revealed unto Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the tribes, and that which was vouchsafed unto Moses and Jesus and the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and unto Him we have surrendered. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Say, [We have faith in Allah and in what has been sent down to us, and what was sent down to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, and that which Moses, Jesus and the prophets were given by their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him do we submit.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

(Muhammad), say, [We believe in God and in that which has been revealed to us and in that which was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and their descendants. We believe in that which was given to Moses, Jesus, and the Prophets by their Lord. We make no distinction between them and we have submitted ourselves to the will of God]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Say: We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us, and what was revealed to Ibrahim and Ismail and Ishaq and Yaqoub and the tribes, and what was given to Musa and Isa and to the prophets from their Lord; we do not make any distinction between any of them, and to Him do we submit. - Shakir, Habib

پیغمبر ان سے کہہ دیجئے کہ ہمارا ایمان اللہ پر ہے اور جو ہم پر نازل ہوا ہے اور جو ابراہیم علیھ السّلام,اسماعیل علیھ السّلام, اسحاق علیھ السّلامًیعقوب علیھ السّلام اور اسباط علیھ السّلامپر نازل ہوا ہے اور جو موسٰی علیھ السّلام, عیسٰی علیھ السّلام اور انبیائ کو خدا کی طرف سے دیا گیا ہے ان سب پر ہے. ہم ان کے درمیان تفریق نہیں کرتے ہیں اور ہم خدا کے اطاعت گزار بندے ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اے نبیؐ! کہو کہ ——ہم اللہ کو مانتے ہیں، اُس تعلیم کو مانتے ہیں جو ہم پر نازل کی گئی ہے، اُن تعلیمات کو بھی مانتے ہیں جو ابراہیمؑ، اسماعیلؑ، اسحاقؑ، یعقوبؑ اور اولاد یعقوبؑ پر نازل ہوئی تھیں اور اُن ہدایات پر بھی ایمان رکھتے ہیں جو موسیٰؑ اور عیسیٰؑ اور دوسرے پیغمبروں کو اُن کے رب کی طرف سے دی گئیں ہم ان کے درمیان فرق نہیں کرتے اور ہم اللہ کے تابع فرمان (مسلم) ہیں—— - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور اُسی کی طرف پھیریں گے، یوں کہو کہ ہم ایمان لائے اللہ پر اور اس پر جو ہماری طرف اترا اور جو اترا ابراہیم اور اسماعیل اور اسحاق اور یعقوب اور ان کے بیٹوں پر اور جو کچھ ملا موسیٰ اور عیسیٰ اور انبیاء کو ان کے رب سے، ہم ان میں کسی پر ایمان میں فرق نہیں کرتے اور ہم اسی کے حضور گردن جھکائے ہیں - Ahmed Raza

(اے رسول) کہہ دیجئے! کہ ہم اللہ پر ایمان لائے اور اس پر بھی جو ہم پر اتارا اور جو ابراہیم، اسماعیل، اسحاق، یعقوب اور اسباط پر اتارا گیا۔ اور اس پر بھی جو کچھ موسیٰ و عیسیٰ اور دوسرے پیغمبروں کو جو کچھ ان کے پروردگار کی طرف سے عطا ہوا۔ ہم (بحیثیت نبی ہونے کے) ان کے درمیان تفریق نہیں کرتے۔ اور ہم اسی (خدائے یکتا) کے مسلمان (اطاعت گزار بندے) ہیں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

وَهُوَ
and he is
فِى
in
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
the forth-coming
مِنَ
of
ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ
the losers.

٨٥
وَمَن يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ ٱلْإِسْلَٰمِ دِينًۭا فَلَن يُقْبَلَ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ مِنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ And whoever seeks other than Al Islam as a governing system then not it will be accepted from him and he is in the forth-coming of the losers.

And whoso seeketh as religion other than the Surrender (to Allah) it will not be accepted from him, and he will be a loser in the Hereafter. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Should anyone follow a religion other than Islam, it shall never be accepted from him, and he will be among the losers in the Hereafter. - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
No religion other than Islam (submission to the will of God) will be accepted from anyone. Whoever follows a religion other than Islam will be lost on the Day of Judgment. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And whoever desires a religion other than Islam, it shall not be accepted from him, and in the hereafter he shall be one of the losers. - Shakir, Habib

If anyone seeks a religion other than Islam [submission to God], it will not be accepted from him; he will be among the losers in the Hereafter. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور جو اسلام کے علاوہ کوئی بھی دین تلاش کرے گا تو وہ دین اس سے قبول نہ کیا جائے گا اور وہ قیامت کے دن خسارہ والوں میں ہوگا - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور جو شخص اسلام کے علاوہ کوئی بھی دین اختیار کرے گا تو اس کا دین ہرگز قبول نہ کیا جائے گا اور وہ آخرت میں خسارہ پانے والوں میں سے ہوگا۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

How could
يَهْدِى
guide
ٱللَّهُ
the One
قَوْمًۭا
a nation who
كَفَرُوا۟
denies
بَعْدَ
after
إِيمَٰنِهِمْ
their oaths,
وَشَهِدُوٓا۟
and their testimony
أَنَّ
that
ٱلرَّسُولَ
the messenger
حَقٌّۭ
is on fact,
وَجَآءَهُمُ
and came to them of
ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتُ
the clarifications?
ۚ
وَٱللَّهُ
And the One
لَا
not
يَهْدِى
guides
ٱلْقَوْمَ
nation of
ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
delusional people.
٣
٨٦
كَيْفَ يَهْدِى ٱللَّهُ قَوْمًۭا كَفَرُوا۟ بَعْدَ إِيمَٰنِهِمْ وَشَهِدُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱلرَّسُولَ حَقٌّۭ وَجَآءَهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتُ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ How could guide the One a nation who denies after their oaths, and their testimony that the messenger is on fact, and came to them of the clarifications? And the One not guides nation of delusional people.

How shall Allah guide a people who disbelieved after their belief and (after) they bore witness that the messenger is true and after clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty) had come unto them. And Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

How shall Allah guide a people who have disbelieved after their faith and [after] bearing witness that the Apostle is true, and [after] manifest proofs had come to them? Allah does not guide the wrongdoing lot. - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
Why would God guide a people who disbelieves after having had faith, who have found the Messenger to be truthful, and who have received authoritative evidence? God does not guide the unjust. - Sarwar, Muhammad

How shall Allah guide a people who disbelieved after their believing and (after) they had borne witness that the Apostle was true and clear arguments had come to them; and Allah does not guide the unjust people. - Shakir, Habib

How would God bestow His guidance upon people who have opted for unbelief after having embraced the faith and having borne witness that this Messenger is true and [after] all evidence of the truth has come to them? For, God does not guide such wrongdoers: - Wahiduddin Khan

خدا اس قوم کو کس طرح ہدایت دے گا جو ایمان کے بعد کافر ہوگئی اور وہ خود گواہ ہے کہ رسول برحق ہے اور ان کے پاس کھلی نشانیاں بھی آچکی ہیں بیشک خدا ظالم قوم کو ہدایت نہیں دیتا - Jawadi, Zeeshan

کیسے ہوسکتا ہے کہ اللہ اُن لوگوں کو ہدایت بخشے جنہوں نے نعمت ایمان پا لینے کے بعد پھر کفر اختیار کیا حالانکہ وہ خود اس بات پر گواہی دے چکے ہیں کہ یہ رسول حق پر ہے اور ان کے پاس روشن نشانیاں بھی آ چکی ہیں اللہ ظالموں کو تو ہدایت نہیں دیا کرتا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

کیونکر اللہ ایسی قوم کی ہدایت چاہے جو ایمان لاکر کافر ہوگئے اور گواہی دے چکے تھے کہ رسول سچا ہے اور انہیں کھلی نشانیاں آچکی تھیں اور اللہ ظالموں کو ہدایت نہیں کرتا - Ahmed Raza

بھلا خدا ان لوگوں کو کیوں کر ہدایت دے گا (منزل مقصود پر پہنچائے گا) جو ایمان لانے کے بعد پھر کافر ہوگئے۔ حالانکہ وہ گواہی دے چکے تھے کہ رسول برحق ہے۔ اور ان کے پاس آیات بینات (واضح معجزات) بھی آچکے تھے۔ بے شک خدا ظلم و جور کرنے والوں کو ہدایت نہیں دیتا۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
Those are the ones
جَزَآؤُهُمْ
whose reward is
أَنَّ
that
عَلَيْهِمْ
upon them is
لَعْنَةَ
damnation of
ٱللَّهِ
the One
وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ
and the malaikati
وَٱلنَّاسِ
and the people
أَجْمَعِينَ
collectively.

٨٧
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ جَزَآؤُهُمْ أَنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ لَعْنَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ Those are the ones whose reward is that upon them is damnation of the One and the malaikati and the people collectively.

As for such, their guerdon is that on them rests the curse of Allah and of angels and of men combined. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Their requital is that there shall be upon them the curse of Allah, the angels, and all mankind. - Qarai, Ali Quli

What they will gain will be the condemnation of God, the angels, and all people, - Sarwar, Muhammad

(As for) these, their reward is that upon them is the curse of Allah and the angels and of men, all together. - Shakir, Habib

خَٰلِدِينَ
Residing
فِيهَا
therein,
لَا
not
يُخَفَّفُ
will be cooled
عَنْهُمُ
upon them
ٱلْعَذَابُ
the punishment
وَلَا
and not
هُمْ
they
يُنظَرُونَ
will be looked upon.
Residing therein, not will be cooled upon them the punishment and not they will be looked upon.
⦿
They will abide therein. Their doom will not be lightened, neither will they be reprieved; - Pickthall, Marmaduke

They will remain in it [forever], and their punishment will not be lightened, nor will they be granted any respite, - Qarai, Ali Quli

with which they will live forever. Their torment will not be relieved and no attention will be paid to them. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Abiding in it; their chastisement shall not be lightened nor shall they be respited. - Shakir, Habib

In this state they shall abide forever; their punishment shall not be lightened nor shall they be granted respite. - Wahiduddin Khan

یہ ہمیشہ اسی لعنت میں گرفتار رہیں گے .ان کے عذاب میں تخفیف نہ ہوگی اور نہ انہیں مہلت دی جائے گی - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اِسی حالت میں وہ ہمیشہ رہیں گے، نہ ان کی سزا میں تخفیف ہوگی اور نہ انہیں مہلت دی جائے گی - Maududi, Abul A'ala

إِلَّا
Except
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
تَابُوا۟
repent
مِنۢ
from
بَعْدِ
after
ذَٰلِكَ
that,
وَأَصْلَحُوا۟
and take corrective measures,
فَإِنَّ
then certainly
ٱللَّهَ
the One is
غَفُورٌۭ
forgivingly
رَّحِيمٌ
merciful.
Except the ones who repent from after that, and take corrective measures, then certainly the One is forgivingly merciful.

Save those who afterward repent and do right. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

مگر جنہوں نے اس کے بعد توبہ کی اور آپا سنبھالا تو ضرور اللہ بخشنے والا مہربان ہے، - Ahmed Raza
