وَإِذْ
And (remember) when
قُلْتُمْ
you were saying,
يَٰمُوسَىٰ
[O Moosa!
لَن
Not can
نَّصْبِرَ
we persevere
عَلَىٰ
over
طَعَامٍۢ
a provision
وَٰحِدٍۢ
that is singular,
فَٱدْعُ
so call
لَنَا
for us
رَبَّكَ
your Rabb to
يُخْرِجْ
sprout
لَنَا
for us
مِمَّا
from what
تُنۢبِتُ
germinates
ٱلْأَرْضُ
the Earth
مِنۢ
of
بَقْلِهَا
her herb (shopkeeping),
وَقِثَّآئِهَا
and her cucumber (hoarding),
وَفُومِهَا
and her corn (commercial grain production),
وَعَدَسِهَا
and her lentil (magnifying original value),
وَبَصَلِهَا
and her onion (hiding original in layers upon layers, like an onion).]
ۖ
قَالَ
(Moosa) said,
أَتَسْتَبْدِلُونَ
[Do you exchange
ٱلَّذِى
that which
هُوَ
is
أَدْنَىٰ
lower
بِٱلَّذِى
by that which
هُوَ
is
خَيْرٌ
better?
ۚ
ٱهْبِطُوا۟
Be of lower standard
مِصْرًۭا
perpetually;
فَإِنَّ
surely
لَكُم
for you is
مَّا
what
سَأَلْتُمْ
you asked for!]
ۗ
وَضُرِبَتْ
And took
عَلَيْهِمُ
upon them
ٱلذِّلَّةُ
the humiliation,
وَٱلْمَسْكَنَةُ
and being stagnant,
وَبَآءُو
and they drew upon themselves
بِغَضَبٍۢ
with wrath
مِّنَ
of
ٱللَّهِ
the One.
ۗ
ذَٰلِكَ
That is
بِأَنَّهُمْ
because they
كَانُوا۟
were
يَكْفُرُونَ
denying
بِـَٔايَٰتِ
about signs of
ٱللَّهِ
the One,
وَيَقْتُلُونَ
and they killed
ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ
the revolutionary leaders
بِغَيْرِ
without
ٱلْحَقِّ
the right;
ۗ
ذَٰلِكَ
that is
بِمَا
due to
عَصَوا۟
rebellion,
وَّكَانُوا۟
and they were
يَعْتَدُونَ
being hostile.
٢
٦١
وَإِذْ قُلْتُمْ يَٰمُوسَىٰ لَن نَّصْبِرَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامٍۢ وَٰحِدٍۢ فَٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُخْرِجْ لَنَا مِمَّا تُنۢبِتُ ٱلْأَرْضُ مِنۢ بَقْلِهَا وَقِثَّآئِهَا وَفُومِهَا وَعَدَسِهَا وَبَصَلِهَا ۖ قَالَ أَتَسْتَبْدِلُونَ ٱلَّذِى هُوَ أَدْنَىٰ بِٱلَّذِى هُوَ خَيْرٌ ۚ ٱهْبِطُوا۟ مِصْرًۭا فَإِنَّ لَكُم مَّا سَأَلْتُمْ ۗ وَضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلذِّلَّةُ وَٱلْمَسْكَنَةُ وَبَآءُو بِغَضَبٍۢ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ يَكْفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ ۗ ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوا۟ وَّكَانُوا۟ يَعْتَدُونَ
And (remember) when you were saying, [O Moosa! Not can we persevere over a provision that is singular, so call for us your Rabb to sprout for us from what germinates the Earth of her herb (shopkeeping), and her cucumber (hoarding), and her corn (commercial grain production), and her lentil (magnifying original value), and her onion (hiding original in layers upon layers, like an onion).] (Moosa) said, [Do you exchange that which is lower by that which is better? Be of lower standard perpetually; surely for you is what you asked for!] And took upon them the humiliation, and being stagnant, and they drew upon themselves with wrath of the One. That is because they were denying about signs of the One, and they killed the revolutionary leaders without the right; that is due to rebellion, and they were being hostile.

And when ye said: O Moses! We are weary of one kind of food; so call upon thy Lord for us that He bring forth for us of that which the earth groweth - of its herbs and its cucumbers and its corn and its lentils and its onions. He said: Would ye exchange that which is higher for that which is lower? Go down to settled country, thus ye shall get that which ye demand. And humiliation and wretchedness were stamped upon them and they were visited with wrath from Allah. That was because they disbelieved in Allah's revelations and slew the prophets wrongfully. That was for their disobedience and transgression.

And when you said, [O Moses, [We will not put up with one kind of food. So invoke your Lord for us, so that He may bring forth for us of that which the earth grows—its greens and cucumbers, its garlic, lentils, and onions.] He said, [Do you seek to replace what is superior with that which is inferior? Go down to any town and you will indeed get what you ask for!] So they were struck with abasement and poverty, and they earned Allah]s wrath. That, because they would deny the signs of Allah and kill the prophets unjustly. That, because they would disobey and commit transgressions.

When you demanded Moses to provide you with a variety of food, saying, [We no longer have patience with only one kind of food, ask your Lord to grow green herbs, cucumbers, corn, lentils, and onions for us,] Moses replied, [Would you change what is good for what is worse? Go to any town and you will get what you want.] Despised and afflicted with destitution, they brought the wrath of God back upon themselves, for they denied the evidence (of the existence of God) and murdered His Prophets without reason; they were disobedient transgressors.

And when you said: O Musa! we cannot bear with one food, therefore pray Lord on our behalf to bring forth for us out of what the earth grows, of its herbs and its cucumbers and its garlic and its lentils and its onions. He said: Will you exchange that which is better for that which is worse? Enter a city, so you will have what you ask for. And abasement and humiliation were brought down upon them, and they became deserving of Allah's wrath; this was so because they disbelieved in the communications of Allah and killed the prophets unjustly; this was so because they disobeyed and exceeded the limits.

When you said, [Moses, we cannot bear to eat only one kind of food, so pray to your Lord to bring forth for us some of the earth's produce, its herbs and cucumbers, its garlic, lentils, and onions.] Moses said, [Would you take a lesser thing in exchange for what is better? Go to some town and there you will find all that you demand.] Abasement and destitution were stamped upon them, and they incurred the wrath of God, for having rejected His signs, and they killed His prophets unjustly, because they were rebels and transgressors.

اور وہ وقت بھی یادکرو جب تم نے موسٰی علیھ السّلام سے کہا کہ ہم ایک قسم کے کھانے پر صبر نہیں کرسکتے. آپ پروردگار سے دعا کیجئے کہ ہمارے لئے زمین سے سبزیً ککڑیً لہسنً مسوراور پیاز وغیرہ پیدا کرے. موسٰی علیھ السّلام نے تمہیں سمجھایا کہ کیا بہترین نعمتوں کے بدلے معمولی نعمت لینا چاہتے ہو تو جاؤ کسی شہر میں اتر پڑو وہاں یہ سب کچھ مل جائے گا. اب ان پر ذلّت اور محتاجی کی مار پڑ گئی اور وہ غضب الٰہی میں گرفتار ہوگئے. یہ سب اس لئے ہوا کہ یہ لوگ آیات الٰہی کا انکار کرتے تھے اور ناحق انبیائ خدا کو قتل کردیا کرتے تھے. اس لئے کہ یہ سب نافرمان تھے اور ظلم کیا کرتے تھے

یاد کرو، جب تم نے کہا تھا کہ، ——اے موسیٰؑ، ہم ایک ہی طرح کے کھانے پر صبر نہیں کرسکتے اپنے رب سے دعا کرو کہ ہمارے لیے زمین کی پیداوار ساگ، ترکاری، کھیرا، ککڑی، گیہوں، لہسن، پیاز، دال وغیرہ پیدا کرے—— تو موسیٰؑ نے کہا: ——کیا ایک بہتر چیز کے بجائے تم ادنیٰ درجے کی چیزیں لینا چاہتے ہو؟ اچھا، کسی شہری آبادی میں جا رہو جو کچھ تم مانگتے ہو، وہاں مل جائے گا—— آخر کار نوبت یہاں تک پہنچی کہ ذلت و خواری اور پستی و بد حالی اُن پر مسلط ہو گئی اور وہ اللہ کے غضب میں گھر گئے یہ نتیجہ تھا اس کا کہ وہ اللہ کی آیات سے کفر کرنے لگے اور پیغمبروں کو ناحق قتل کرنے لگے یہ نتیجہ تھا ان کی نافرمانیوں کا اور اس بات کا کہ وہ حدود شرع سے نکل نکل جاتے تھے

اور جب تم نے کہا اے موسیٰ ہم سے تو ایک کھانے پر ہرگز صبر نہ ہوگا تو آپ اپنے رب سے دعا کیجئے کہ زمین کی اگائی ہوئی چیزیں ہمارے لئے نکالے کچھ ساگ اور ککڑی اور گیہوں اور مسور اور پیاز فرمایا کیا ادنیٰ چیز کو بہتر کے بدلے مانگتے ہو اچھا مصر یا کسی شہر میں اترو وہاں تمہیں ملے گا جو تم نے مانگا اور ان پر مقرر کردی گئی خواری اور ناداری اور خدا کے غضب میں لوٹے یہ بدلہ تھا اس کا کہ وہ اللہ کی آیتوں کا انکار کرتے اور انبیاء کو ناحق شہید کرتے یہ بدلہ تھا ان کی نافرمانیوں اور حد سے بڑھنے کا-

اور (وہ وقت بھی یاد کرو) جب تم نے کہا اے موسیٰ! ہم ایک ہی (قسم کے) کھانے پر ہرگز صبر نہیں کر سکتے۔ اس لئے آپ اپنے پروردگار سے ہمارے لئے دعا کیجئے کہ وہ (من و سلویٰ کی بجائے) ہمارے لئے وہ چیزیں نکالے (پیدا کرے) جو زمین اگاتی ہے جیسے ساگ پات، ترکاری، کھیرا، ککڑی، مسور اور لہسن پیاز۔ موسیٰ نے کہا کیا تم کمتر و کہتر چیز لینا چاہتے ہو اس کے بدلہ میں جو برتر و بہتر ہے۔ اچھا شہر میں اتر پڑو۔ بے شک (وہاں) تمہیں وہ کچھ مل جائے گا جو تم مانگتے ہو۔ اور (انجام کار) ان پر ذلت و خواری اور افلاس و ناداری مسلط ہوگئی۔ اور وہ (اللہ کی نشانیوں کا ) انکار کرتے تھے اور انبیاء کو ناحق قتل کرتے تھے (اور یہ اس لئے بھی ہوا) کہ وہ نافرمانی کرتے تھے اور حد سے بڑھ بڑھ جاتے تھے (سرکشی کرتے تھے)۔

وَٱلصَّٰبِـِٔينَ
and the hard workers
مَنْ

ءَامَنَ
became sure
بِٱللَّهِ
about the One,
وَٱلْيَوْمِ
and the day
ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ
that is to come,
وَعَمِلَ
and worked
صَٰلِحًۭا
constructively,
فَلَهُمْ
thus for them
أَجْرُهُمْ
their reward
عِندَ
originates
رَبِّهِمْ
their Rabb,
وَلَا
and no
خَوْفٌ
intimidation
عَلَيْهِمْ
upon them
وَلَا
and not
هُمْ
are
يَحْزَنُونَ
they depressed.
٢
٦٢
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ وَٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ وَٱلصَّٰبِـِٔينَ مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحًۭا فَلَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ
Surely the ones who have conviction, and the ones who are intimidating, and the helpers, and the hard workers who became sure about the One, and the day that is to come, and worked constructively, thus for them their reward originates their Rabb, and no intimidation upon them and not are they depressed.

Lo! Those who believe (in that which is revealed unto thee, Muhammad), and those who are Jews, and Christians, and Sabaeans - whoever believeth in Allah and the Last Day and doeth right - surely their reward is with their Lord, and there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.

Indeed the faithful, the Jews, the Christians and the Sabaeans—those of them who have faith in Allah and the Last Day and act righteously—they shall have their reward from their Lord, and they will have no fear, nor will they grieve.

However, those who have become believers (the Muslims), and the Jews, the Christians and the Sabaeans who believe in God and the Day of Judgment and strive righteously will receive their reward from the Lord and will have nothing to fear nor will they be grieved.

ءَاتَيْنَٰكُم
We give you
بِقُوَّةٍۢ
with strength
وَٱذْكُرُوا۟
and remember
مَا
what is
فِيهِ
in it
لَعَلَّكُمْ
that perhaps you
تَتَّقُونَ
become aware].
٢
٦٣
وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَٰقَكُمْ وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَكُمُ ٱلطُّورَ خُذُوا۟ مَآ ءَاتَيْنَٰكُم بِقُوَّةٍۢ وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ مَا فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
And (remember) when We took your agreement and We raised above you the endeavour, [Take what We give you with strength and remember what is in it that perhaps you become aware].

⦿
And (remember, O Children of Israel) when We made a covenant with you and caused the mount to tower above you, (saying): Hold fast that which We have given you, and remember that which is therein, that ye may ward off (evil).

And when We took a pledge from you, and raised the Mount above you, [declaring], [Hold on with power to what We have given you and remember that which is in it so that you may be Godwary.]

Children of Israel, recall when We made a covenant with you, raised Mount Tur (Sinai) above you and told you to receive earnestly what We had given to you and bear it in mind so that you would protect yourselves against evil.

And when We took a promise from you and lifted the mountain over you: Take hold of the law (Tavrat) We have given you with firmness and bear in mind what is in it, so that you may guard (against evil).

[Children of Israel], We made a covenant with you and raised the mountain high above you, saying, [Hold fast to what We have given you and bear its contents in mind, so that you may guard yourselves [against evil].]

اور اس وقت کو یاد کرو جب ہم نے تم سے توریت پر عمل کرنے کا عہد لیا اور تمہارے سروں پر کوہ طور کو لٹکا دیا کہ اب توریت کو مضبوطی سے پکڑو اور جو کچھ اس میں ہے اسے یاد رکھو شاید اس طرح پرہیز گار بن جاؤ

یاد کرو وہ وقت، جب ہم نے طُور کو تم پر اٹھا کر تم سے پختہ عہد لیا تھا اور کہا تھا کہ ——جو کتاب ہم تمہیں دے رہے ہیں اسے مضبوطی کے ساتھ تھامنا اور جو احکام و ہدایات اس میں درج ہیں انہیں یاد رکھنا اسی ذریعے سے توقع کی جاسکتی ہے کہ تم تقویٰ کی روش پر چل سکو گے——

But
تَوَلَّيْتُم
you turned around
مِّنۢ
from
بَعْدِ
after
ذَٰلِكَ
that.
ۖ
فَلَوْلَا
Then had it not been for
فَضْلُ
a favour from
ٱللَّهِ
the One
عَلَيْكُمْ
upon you,
وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ
and His blessing,
لَكُنتُم
you would have been
مِّنَ
of
ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ
the losers.
٢
٦٤
ثُمَّ تَوَلَّيْتُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ فَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ لَكُنتُم مِّنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ
But you turned around from after that. Then had it not been for a favour from the One upon you, and His blessing, you would have been of the losers.

Then, even after that, ye turned away, and if it had not been for the grace of Allah and His mercy ye had been among the losers.

And certainly
عَلِمْتُمُ
you had knowledge of
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
ٱعْتَدَوْا۟
were in disagreement
مِنكُمْ
from you
فِى
in
ٱلسَّبْتِ
the restfulness (being lazy and not being active)
فَقُلْنَا
so We said
لَهُمْ
for them,
كُونُوا۟
[Be you
قِرَدَةً
ape-like,
خَٰسِـِٔينَ
of diminished intellect!].
٢
٦٥
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱعْتَدَوْا۟ مِنكُمْ فِى ٱلسَّبْتِ فَقُلْنَا لَهُمْ كُونُوا۟ قِرَدَةً خَٰسِـِٔينَ
And certainly you had knowledge of the ones who were in disagreement from you in the restfulness (being lazy and not being active) so We said for them, [Be you ape-like, of diminished intellect!].

And ye know of those of you who broke the Sabbath, how We said unto them: Be ye apes, despised and hated!

And certainly you know those of you who violated the Sabbath, whereupon We said to them, [Be you spurned apes.]

You certainly knew about those among you who were transgressors on the Sabbath. We commanded them, [Become detested apes,]

So We made it
نَكَٰلًۭا
a suffering
لِّمَا
for who was
بَيْنَ
between
يَدَيْهَا
their hands (present with them)
وَمَا
and who was
خَلْفَهَا
behind them,
وَمَوْعِظَةًۭ
and an admonition
لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
for the aware ones.
٢
٦٦
فَجَعَلْنَٰهَا نَكَٰلًۭا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهَا وَمَا خَلْفَهَا وَمَوْعِظَةًۭ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
So We made it a suffering for who was between their hands (present with them) and who was behind them, and an admonition for the aware ones.

And We made it an example to their own and to succeeding generations, and an admonition to the Allah-fearing.

So We made it an exemplary punishment for the present and the succeeding [generations], and an advice to the Godwary.

And when
قَالَ
said
مُوسَىٰ
Moosa
لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ
to his nation,
إِنَّ
[Surely
ٱللَّهَ
the One
يَأْمُرُكُمْ
commands you
أَن
that
تَذْبَحُوا۟
you slaughter
بَقَرَةًۭ
a cow (your unfounded beliefs)].
ۖ
قَالُوٓا۟
They replied,
أَتَتَّخِذُنَا
[Do you take us in
هُزُوًۭا
sarcasm?],
ۖ
قَالَ
(Moosa) said,
أَعُوذُ
[I seek refuge
بِٱللَّهِ
with the One
أَنْ
that
أَكُونَ
I be
مِنَ
of
ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ
the ignorant ones.]
٢
٦٧
وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَن تَذْبَحُوا۟ بَقَرَةًۭ ۖ قَالُوٓا۟ أَتَتَّخِذُنَا هُزُوًۭا ۖ قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِٱللَّهِ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ
And when said Moosa to his nation, [Surely the One commands you that you slaughter a cow (your unfounded beliefs)]. They replied, [Do you take us in sarcasm?], (Moosa) said, [I seek refuge with the One that I be of the ignorant ones.]

And when Moses said unto his people: Lo! Allah commandeth you that ye sacrifice a cow, they said: Dost thou make game of us? He answered: Allah forbid that I should be among the foolish!

And when Moses said to his people, [Allah commands you to slaughter a cow,] they said, [Are you mocking us?] He said, [I seek Allah]s protection lest I should be one of the ignorant!]

When Moses said to his people, [God commands you to sacrifice a cow,] they asked, [Are you mocking us?] [God forbid, how would I be so ignorant,] said Moses.

And when Musa said to his people: Surely Allah commands you that you should sacrifice a cow; they said: Do you ridicule us? He said: I seek the protection of Allah from being one of the ignorant.

اور وہ موقع بھی یاد کروجب موسٰی علیھ السّلام نے قوم سے کہا کہ خدا کا حکم ہے کہ ایک گائے ذبح کرو تو ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ آپ ہمیں مذاق بنا رہے ہیں. فرمایا پناہ بخدا کہ میں جاہلوں میں سے ہوجاؤں

پھر وہ واقعہ یاد کرو، جب موسیٰؑ نے اپنے قوم سے کہا کہ، اللہ تمہیں ایک گائے ذبح کرنے کا حکم دیتا ہے کہنے لگے کیا تم ہم سے مذاق کرتے ہو؟ موسیٰؑ نے کہا، میں اس سے خدا کی پناہ مانگتا ہوں کہ جاہلوں کی سی باتیں کروں

قَالَ
(Moosa) said,
إِنَّهُۥ
[It is that
يَقُولُ
He said
إِنَّهَا
that it is
بَقَرَةٌۭ
a cow (your unfounded beliefs)
لَّا
not
فَارِضٌۭ
having any maturity
وَلَا
neither
بِكْرٌ
any innocence,
عَوَانٌۢ
just dangling
بَيْنَ
between
ذَٰلِكَ
that.
ۖ
فَٱفْعَلُوا۟
So do
مَا
what
تُؤْمَرُونَ
you are being commanded to do.]
٢
٦٨
قَالُوا۟ ٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّن لَّنَا مَا هِىَ ۚ قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ يَقُولُ إِنَّهَا بَقَرَةٌۭ لَّا فَارِضٌۭ وَلَا بِكْرٌ عَوَانٌۢ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ فَٱفْعَلُوا۟ مَا تُؤْمَرُونَ
They said, [Inquire for us your Rabb to make distinct for us what it is.] (Moosa) said, [It is that He said that it is a cow (your unfounded beliefs) not having any maturity neither any innocence, just dangling between that. So do what you are being commanded to do.]

They said: Pray for us unto thy Lord that He make clear to us what (cow) she is. (Moses) answered: Lo! He saith, Verily she is a cow neither with calf nor immature; (she is) between the two conditions; so do that which ye are commanded.

They said, [Invoke your Lord for us that He may clarify for us what she may be.] He said, [He says, she is a cow, neither old nor young, of a middle age. Now do what you are commanded.]

They demanded, [Ask your Lord to describe the kind of cow He wants us to slaughter.] Moses explained, [It must be neither too old nor too young, thus do whatever you are commanded to do.] Moses then told them to do as they were ordered.

They said: Call on your Lord for our sake to make it plain to us what she is. Musa said: He says, Surely she is a cow neither advanced in age nor too young, of middle age between that (and this); do therefore what you are commanded.

They said, [Ask your Lord to make it clear to us what sort of heifer she should be.] He answered, [God says she should be neither too old nor too young, but in between, so do as you are commanded.]

ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ اچھا خدا سے دعا کیجئے کہ ہمیں اس کی حقیقت بتائے. انہوں نے کہا کہ ایسی گائے چاہئے جو نہ بوڑھی ہو نہ بچہ. درمیانی قسم کی ہو. اب حکم خدا پر عمل کرو

بولے اچھا، اپنے رب سے درخواست کرو کہ وہ ہمیں گائے کی کچھ تفصیل بتائے موسیٰؑ نے کہا، اللہ کا ارشاد ہے کہ وہ ایسی گائے ہونی چاہیے جو نہ بوڑھی ہو نہ بچھیا، بلکہ اوسط عمر کی ہو لہٰذا جو حکم دیا جاتا ہے اس کی تعمیل کرو

بولے اپنے رب سے دعا کیجئے کہ وہ ہمیں بتادے گائے کیسی کہا وہ فرماتا ہے کہ وہ ایک گائے ہے نہ بوڑھی اور نہ اَدسر بلکہ ان دونوں کے بیچ میں تو کرو جس کا تمہیں حکم ہوتا ہے،

انہوں نے کہا ہماری خاطر اپنے پروردگار سے التجا کیجئے کہ وہ ہمیں کھول کر بتائے کہ گائے کیسی ہو؟ (موسیٰ نے) کہا وہ (اللہ) فرماتا ہے کہ وہ نہ بالکل بوڑھی ہو اور نہ بالکل بن بیاہی بچھڑی۔ بلکہ ان دونوں کے بین (اوسط عمر کی ہو) جو حکم تمہیں دیا جا رہا ہے اس کی تعمیل کرو۔

ۚ
قَالَ
(Moosa) said,
إِنَّهُۥ
[It is that
يَقُولُ
He said
إِنَّهَا
that it is
بَقَرَةٌۭ
a cow (your unfounded beliefs) of
صَفْرَآءُ
yellow
فَاقِعٌۭ
brightness;
لَّوْنُهَا
its colour
تَسُرُّ
pleasing for
ٱلنَّٰظِرِينَ
those who are watching.]

٦٩
قَالُوا۟ ٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّن لَّنَا مَا لَوْنُهَا ۚ قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ يَقُولُ إِنَّهَا بَقَرَةٌۭ صَفْرَآءُ فَاقِعٌۭ لَّوْنُهَا تَسُرُّ ٱلنَّٰظِرِينَ
They said, [Inquire for us your Rabb to make distinct for us what is its colour.] (Moosa) said, [It is that He said that it is a cow (your unfounded beliefs) of yellow brightness; its colour pleasing for those who are watching.]

They said: Pray for us unto thy Lord that He make clear to us of what colour she is. (Moses) answered: Lo! He saith: Verily she is a yellow cow. Bright is her colour, gladdening beholders.

for sure be of those who are guided.]

قَالُوا۟ ٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّن لَّنَا مَا هِىَ إِنَّ ٱلْبَقَرَ تَشَٰبَهَ عَلَيْنَا وَإِنَّآ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَمُهْتَدُونَ
They said, [Inquire for us your Rabb to make distinct for us what it is, as it is that the cows (our respective beliefs that divide us) appear the same upon us, and we will — if willed the One — for sure be of those who are guided.]

[It is now that

بِٱلْحَقِّ
with the truth.]

فَذَبَحُوهَا
Finally, they slaughtered it,
وَمَا
while not
كَادُوا۟
they were close to
يَفْعَلُونَ
doing that.

قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ يَقُولُ إِنَّهَا بَقَرَةٌۭ لَّا ذَلُولٌۭ تُثِيرُ ٱلْأَرْضَ وَلَا تَسْقِى ٱلْحَرْثَ مُسَلَّمَةٌۭ لَّا شِيَةَ فِيهَا ۚ قَالُوا۟ ٱلْـَٰٔنَ جِئْتَ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ فَذَبَحُوهَا وَمَا كَادُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ
(Moosa) said, [It is that He said that it is a cow (people's respective beliefs that divide them) not tamed to plough the land, and not waters the cultivation — absolutely nothing substantial is in it.] They said, [It is now that you have come with the truth.] Finally, they slaughtered it, while not they were close to doing that.

(Moses) answered: Lo! He saith: Verily she is a cow unyoked; she plougheth not the soil nor watereth the tilth; whole and without mark. They said: Now thou bringest the truth. So they sacrificed her, though almost they did not.

This website is a work of passion. It exists only for a couple of reasons:

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.

Because the process must be transparent, the entire website is available for you to download. You can go through the code, and if you can make any improvements to this process, you are most welcome to. It is a humble request to update me regarding the improvements so I can also update myself.
