The alms are only for the poor and the needy, and those who collect them, and those whose hearts are to be reconciled, and to free the captives and the debtors, and for the cause of Allah, and (for) the wayfarer; a duty imposed by Allah. Allah is Knower, Wise. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

The charities are only for the poor and the needy, and those employed to collect them, and those whose hearts are to be reconciled, and for [the freedom of] the slaves and the debtors, and in the way of Allah, and for the traveller. یہ صدقات تو دراصل فقیروں اور مسکینوں کے لیے ہیں اور اُن لوگوں کے لیے جو صدقات کے کام پر مامور ہوں، اور اُن کے لیے جن کی تالیف قلب مطلوب ہو نیز یہ گردنوں کے چھڑانے اور قرض داروں کی مدد کرنے میں اور راہ خدا میں اور مسافر نوازی میں استعمال کرنے کے لیے ہیں ایک فریضہ ہے اللہ کی طرف سے اور اللہ سب کچھ جاننے والا اور دانا و بینا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

زکوٰة تو انہیں لوگوں کے لیے ہے محتاج اور نرے نادار اور جو اسے تحصیل کرکے لائیں اور جن کے دلوں کو اسلام سے الفت دی جائے اور گردنیں چھڑانے میں اور قرضداروں کو اور اللہ کی راہ میں اور مسافر کو، یہ ٹھہرایا ہوا ہے اللہ کا، اور اللہ علم و حکمت والا ہے - Ahmed Raza

صدقات (مالِ زکوٰۃ) تو اور کسی کے لئے نہیں صرف فقیروں کے لئے ہے مسکینوں کے لئے ہے اور ان کارکنوں کے لئے ہے جو اس کی وصولی کے لئے مقرر ہیں۔ اور ان کے لئے ہے جن کی (دلجوئی) مطلوب ہے۔ نیز (غلاموں اور کنیزوں کی) گردنیں (چھڑانے) کے لئے ہے اور مقروضوں (کا قرضہ ادا کرنے) کے لئے ہے اور اللہ کی راہ میں خرچ کرنے کے لئے ہے اور مسافروں (کی مدد) کے لئے ہے یہ اللہ کی طرف سے فرض ہے اور اللہ بڑا جاننے والا، بڑا حکمت والا ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad
