وَإِذْ
And (recall) when
ءَاتَيْنَا
We gave to
مُوسَى
Moosa
ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
the Book
وَٱلْفُرْقَانَ
and the Distinguisher
لَعَلَّكُمْ
that perhaps you be of
تَهْتَدُونَ
those who are guided.
And (recall) when We gave to Moosa the Book and the Distinguisher that perhaps you be of those who are guided.
⦿
And when We gave unto Moses the Scripture and the criterion (of right and wrong), that ye might be led aright. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And when We gave Moses the Book and the Criterion so that you might be guided. - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
We gave Moses the Book and the criteria (of discerning right from wrong) so that perhaps you would be rightly guided. - Sarwar, Muhammad

اور ہم نے موسٰی علیھ السّلام کو کتاب اور حق و باطل کو جدا کرنے والا قانون دیا کہ شاید تم ہدایت یافتہ بن جاؤ - Jawadi, Zeeshan

یاد کرو کہ (ٹھیک اس وقت جب تم یہ ظلم کر رہے تھے) ہم نے موسیٰؑ کو کتاب اور فرقان عطا کی تاکہ تم اس کے ذریعے سے سیدھا راستہ پاسکو - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جب ہم نے موسیٰ کو کتاب عطا کی اور حق و باطل میں تمیز کردینا کہ کہیں تم راہ آؤ - - Ahmed Raza

اور (وہ وقت یاد کرو) جب فرعونی (تم پر ظلم کر رہے تھے تو) ہم نے موسیٰ کو کتاب فرقان عطا کی تاکہ تم ہدایت حاصل کرو۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

وَإِذْ
And (recall) when
قَالَ
said
مُوسَىٰ
Moosa
لِقَوْمِهِۦ
to his nation,
يَٰقَوْمِ
[O nation!
إِنَّكُمْ
Certainly you
ظَلَمْتُمْ
have wronged
أَنفُسَكُم
yourselves
بِٱتِّخَاذِكُمُ
by adopting
ٱلْعِجْلَ
the calf (immature ideal),
فَتُوبُوٓا۟
so turn around
إِلَىٰ
towards
بَارِئِكُمْ
your Recoverer (the Creator),
فَٱقْتُلُوٓا۟
thus fight
أَنفُسَكُمْ
your egos,
ذَٰلِكُمْ
that for you is
خَيْرٌۭ
good
لَّكُمْ
for you
عِندَ
near
بَارِئِكُمْ
your Recoverer],
فَتَابَ
thus He turned
عَلَيْكُمْ
towards you;
ۚ
إِنَّهُۥ
it is certain that
هُوَ
He is
ٱلتَّوَّابُ
the Returner (forgiver)
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
the Merciful.
٢
٥٤
وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِۦ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنَّكُمْ ظَلَمْتُمْ أَنفُسَكُم بِٱتِّخَاذِكُمُ ٱلْعِجْلَ فَتُوبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ بَارِئِكُمْ فَٱقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌۭ لَّكُمْ عِندَ بَارِئِكُمْ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ And (recall) when said Moosa to his nation, [O nation! Certainly you have wronged yourselves by adopting the calf (immature ideal), so turn around towards your Recoverer (the Creator), thus fight your egos, that for you is good for you near your Recoverer], thus He turned towards you; it is certain that He is the Returner (forgiver) the Merciful.

And when Moses said unto his people: O my people! Ye have wronged yourselves by your choosing of the calf (for worship) so turn in penitence to your Creator, and kill (the guilty) yourselves. That will be best for you with your Creator and He will relent toward you. Lo! He is the Relenting, the Merciful. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And [recall] when Moses said to his people, [O my people! You have indeed wronged yourselves by taking up the Calf [for worship]. Now turn penitently to your Maker, and slay [the guilty among] your folks. That will be better for you with your Maker.] Then He turned to you clemently. Indeed, He is the All-clement, the All-merciful. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Moses said to his people, [My people, you have done wrong to yourselves by worshipping the calf. Seek pardon from your Lord and slay yourselves.] He told them that it would be best for them in the sight of their Lord, Who would forgive them, for He is All-forgiving and All-merciful. - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
And when Musa said to his people: O my people! you have surely been unjust to yourselves by taking the calf (for a god), therefore turn to your Creator (penitently), so kill your people, that is best for you with your Creator: so He turned to you (mercifully), for surely He is the Oft-returning (to mercy), the Merciful. - Shakir, Habib

When Moses said to his people, [O my people, you have indeed wronged yourselves by worshipping the calf; turn in repentance to your Creator and slay [the culprits] among you. That course is best for you in the sight of your Maker.] He relented towards you. He is the Forgiving One, the Merciful. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور وہ وقت بھی یاد کرو جب موسٰی علیھ السّلام نے اپنی قوم سے کہا کہ تم نے گو سالہ بنا کر اپنے اوپر ظلم کیا ہے. اب تم خالق کی بارگاہ میں توبہ کرو اور اپنے نفسوں کو قتل کر ڈالو کہ یہی تمہارے حق میں خیر ہے. پھر خدا نے تمہاری توبہ قبول کرلی کہ وہ بڑا توبہ قبول کرنے والا مہربان ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

یاد کرو جب موسیٰؑ (یہ نعمت لیتے ہوئے پلٹا، تو اُس) نے اپنی قوم سے کہا کہ ——لوگو، تم نے بچھڑے کو معبود بنا کر اپنے اوپر سخت ظلم کیا ہے، لہٰذا تم لوگ اپنے خالق کے حضور توبہ کرو اور اپنی جانوں کو ہلاک کرو، اسی میں تمہارے خالق کے نزدیک تمہاری بہتری ہے—— اُس وقت تمہارے خالق نے تمہاری توبہ قبول کر لی کہ وہ بڑا معاف کرنے والا اور رحم فرمانے والا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جب موسیٰ نے اپنی قوم سے کہا اے میری قوم تم نے بچھڑا بناکر اپنی جانوں پر ظلم کیا تو اپنے پیدا کرنے والے کی طرف رجوع لاؤ تو آپس میں ایک دوسرے کو قتل کردو یہ تمہارے پیدا کرنے والے کے نزدیک تمہارے لیے بہتر ہے تو اس نے تمہاری توبہ قبول کی بیشک وہی ہے بہت توبہ قبول کرنے والا مہربان - - Ahmed Raza

اور (وہ وقت یاد کرو) جب (موسیٰ نے اپنی قوم سے کہا) اے میری قوم! یقینا تم نے گو سالہ کو (معبود) بنا کر اپنی جانوں پر بڑا ظلم کیا ہے۔ لہٰذا تم اپنے خالق کی بارگاہ میں (اس طرح) توبہ کرو۔ کہ اپنی جانوں کو قتل کرو۔ یہی (طریقہ کار) تمہارے خالق کے نزدیک تمہارے لئے بہتر ہے۔ اس صورت میں اس نے تمہاری توبہ قبول کی۔ بے شک وہ بڑا توبہ قبول کرنے والا، نہایت رحم والا ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

And (recall) when
قُلْتُمْ
you said,
يَٰمُوسَىٰ
[O Moosa!
لَن
Never will
نُّؤْمِنَ
we believe
لَكَ
you
حَتَّىٰ
until
نَرَى
we see
ٱللَّهَ
the One
جَهْرَةًۭ
openly.],
فَأَخَذَتْكُمُ
then you were taken by
ٱلصَّٰعِقَةُ
the thunder (became thunderstruck)
وَأَنتُمْ
while
تَنظُرُونَ
you were hypothesizing.
٢
٥٥
وَإِذْ قُلْتُمْ يَٰمُوسَىٰ لَن نُّؤْمِنَ لَكَ حَتَّىٰ نَرَى ٱللَّهَ جَهْرَةًۭ فَأَخَذَتْكُمُ ٱلصَّٰعِقَةُ وَأَنتُمْ تَنظُرُونَ And (recall) when you said, [O Moosa! Never will we believe you until we see the One openly.], then you were taken by the thunder (became thunderstruck) while you were hypothesizing.

And when ye said: O Moses! We will not believe in thee till we see Allah plainly; and even while ye gazed the lightning seized you. - Pickthall, Marmaduke
⦿
And when you said, [O Moses, we will not believe you until we see Allah visibly.] Thereupon a thunderbolt seized you as you looked on. - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
When you argued with Moses, saying that you were not going to believe him unless you could see God with your own eyes, the swift wind struck you and you could do nothing but watch. - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
And when you said: O Musa! we will not believe in you until we see Allah manifestly, so the punishment overtook you while you looked on. - Shakir, Habib
⦿
Remember when you said, [Moses, we will not believe in you until we see God with our own eyes,] a thunderbolt struck you while you were looking on. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور وہ وقت بھی یاد کرو جب تم نے موسٰی علیھ السّلام سے کہا کہ ہم اس وقت تک ایمان نہ لائیں گے جب تک خدا کو اعلانیہ نہ دیکھ لیں جس کے بعد بجلی نے تم کو لے ڈالا اور تم دیکھتے ہی رہ گئے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

یاد کرو جب تم نے موسیٰؑ سے کہا تھا کہ ہم تمہارے کہنے کا ہرگز یقین نہ کریں گے، جب تک کہ اپنی آنکھوں سے علانیہ خدا کو (تم سے کلام کرتے) نہ دیکھ لیں اس وقت تمہارے دیکھتے دیکھتے ایک زبردست صاعقے نے تم کو آ لیا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جب تم نے کہا اے موسیٰ ہم ہرگز تمہارا یقین نہ لائیں گے جب تک اعلانیہ خدا کو نہ دیکھ لیں تو تمہیں کڑک نے آلیا اور تم دیکھ رہے تھے ۔ - Ahmed Raza

اور (وہ وقت یاد کرو) جب تم نے کہا اے موسیٰ! اس وقت تک ہم ہرگز ایمان نہیں لائیں گے جب تک ظاہر بظاہر (اعلانیہ) خدا کو دیکھ نہ لیں۔ سو (اس پر) تمہارے دیکھتے بجلی نے تمہیں اپنی گرفت میں لے لیا۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

Then

We activated you
مِّنۢ

your unconsciousness

that perhaps you
تَشْكُرُونَ
may give thanks.
Then We activated you from after your unconsciousness that perhaps you may give thanks.
⦿
Then We revived you after your extinction, that ye might give thanks. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Then We raised you up after your death so that you might give thanks. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Then We brought you back to life in the hope that you might appreciate Our favors. - Sarwar, Muhammad

پھر ہم نے تمہیں موت کے بعد زندہ کردیا کہ شاید اب شکر گزار بن جاؤ - Jawadi, Zeeshan

تم بے جان ہو کر گر چکے تھے، مگر پھر ہم نے تم کو جِلا اٹھایا، شاید کہ اس احسان کے بعد تم شکر گزار بن جاؤ - Maududi, Abul A'ala

پھر مرے پیچھے ہم نے تمہیں زندہ کیا کہ کہیں تم احسان مانو- - Ahmed Raza

پھر ہم نے تمہاری موت کے بعد تمہیں زندہ کیا تاکہ (اس احسان کے بعد) تم شکرگزار بن جاؤ۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

And We covered
عَلَيْكُمُ
you over with
ٱلْغَمَامَ
the shade,
وَأَنزَلْنَا
and We descended
عَلَيْكُمُ
over you
ٱلْمَنَّ
the favour
وَٱلسَّلْوَىٰ
and the comfort,
ۖ
كُلُوا۟
—[Consume
مِن
of
طَيِّبَٰتِ
good things of
مَا
what
رَزَقْنَٰكُمْ
sustenance We give you]—
ۖ
وَمَا
and not
ظَلَمُونَا
We oppress
وَلَٰكِن
rather
كَانُوٓا۟
they
أَنفُسَهُمْ
themselves
يَظْلِمُونَ
oppressed themselves.
٢
٥٧
وَظَلَّلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْغَمَامَ وَأَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْمَنَّ وَٱلسَّلْوَىٰ ۖ كُلُوا۟ مِن طَيِّبَٰتِ مَا رَزَقْنَٰكُمْ ۖ وَمَا ظَلَمُونَا وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ And We covered you over with the shade, and We descended over you the favour and the comfort, —[Consume of good things of what sustenance We give you]— and not We oppress rather they themselves oppressed themselves.
⦿
And We caused the white cloud to overshadow you and sent down on you the manna and the quails, (saying): Eat of the good things wherewith We have provided you - they wronged Us not, but they did wrong themselves. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

We shaded you with clouds, and sent down to you manna and quails [saying]: [Eat of the good things We have provided for you.] And they did not wrong Us, but they used to wrong [only] themselves. - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
We provided you with shade from the clouds and sent down manna and quails as the best pure sustenance for you to eat. They (children of Israel) did not wrong Us but wronged themselves. - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
And We made the clouds to give shade over you and We sent to you manna and quails: Eat of the good things that We have given you; and they did not do Us any harm, but they made their own souls suffer the loss. - Shakir, Habib
⦿
Then We caused the clouds to provide shade for you and sent down for you manna and quails, saying, [Eat the good things We have provided for you.] Indeed, they did not wrong Us, but they wronged themselves. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور ہم نے تمہارے سروں پر ابر کا سایہ کیا. تم پر من و سلٰوی نازل کیا کہ پاکیزہ رزق اطمینان سے کھاؤ. ان لوگوں نے ہمارا کچھ نہیں بگاڑا بلکہ خود اپنے نفس پر ظلم کیا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

ہم نے تم پر ابر کا سایہ کیا، من وسلویٰ کی غذا تمہارے لیے فراہم کی اور تم سے کہا کہ جو پاک چیزیں ہم نے تمہیں بخشی ہیں، اُنہیں کھاؤ، مگر تمہارے اسلاف نے جو کچھ کیا، وہ ہم پر ظلم نہ تھا، بلکہ انہوں نے آپ اپنے ہی اوپر ظلم کیا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور ہم نے ابر کو تمہارا سائبان کیا اور تم پر من اور سلویٰ اتارا کھاؤ ہماری دی ہوئی ستھری چیزیں اور انہوں نے کچھ ہمارا نہ بگاڑا ہاں اپنی ہی جانوں کو بگاڑ کرتے تھے- اور جب ہم نے فرمایا اس بستی میں جاؤ - - Ahmed Raza

اور ہم نے (صحراء میں) تمہارے اوپر ابر کا سایہ کیا اور تم پر من و سلویٰ نازل کیا (اور کہا) کہ ان پاکیزہ چیزوں میں سے کھاؤ جو ہم نے تم کو عطا کی ہیں۔ اور ان لوگوں نے (ناشکری کرکے) ہم پر کوئی زیادتی نہیں کی بلکہ وہ اپنی ہی جانوں پر ظلم کرتے رہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

وَإِذْ
And when
قُلْنَا
We said,
ٱدْخُلُوا۟
[Enter
هَٰذِهِ
this
ٱلْقَرْيَةَ
city
فَكُلُوا۟
and thus consume
مِنْهَا
from it
حَيْثُ
wherever
شِئْتُمْ
whatever
رَغَدًۭا
abundantly,
وَٱدْخُلُوا۟
and enter
ٱلْبَابَ
the door
سُجَّدًۭا
humbly submissive (only to the Creator)
وَقُولُوا۟
and say,
حِطَّةٌۭ
— We unload (one another's burdens, our egos and self-centeredness) —
نَّغْفِرْ
We over look
لَكُمْ
for you
خَطَٰيَٰكُمْ
your mistakes,
ۚ
وَسَنَزِيدُ
and We increase
ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
the good-doers.]
٢
٥٨
وَإِذْ قُلْنَا ٱدْخُلُوا۟ هَٰذِهِ ٱلْقَرْيَةَ فَكُلُوا۟ مِنْهَا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمْ رَغَدًۭا وَٱدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْبَابَ سُجَّدًۭا وَقُولُوا۟ حِطَّةٌۭ نَّغْفِرْ لَكُمْ خَطَٰيَٰكُمْ ۚ وَسَنَزِيدُ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ And when We said, [Enter this city and thus consume from it wherever whatever abundantly, and enter the door humbly submissive (only to the Creator) and say, — We unload (one another's burdens, our egos and self-centeredness) — We over look for you your mistakes, and We increase the good-doers.]
⦿
And when We said: Go into this township and eat freely of that which is therein, and enter the gate prostrate, and say: [Repentance.] We will forgive you your sins and will increase (reward) for the right-doers. - Pickthall, Marmaduke
⦿
And when We said, [Enter this town, and eat thereof freely whencesoever you wish, and enter while prostrating at the gate, and say, [[Relieve [us of the burden of our sins],]] so that We may forgive your iniquities and We will soon enhance the virtuous.] - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
(Children of Israel, recall My favors) when We told you, [Enter this city, enjoy eating whatever you want therein, prostrate yourselves and ask forgiveness when passing through the gate, and We shall forgive your sins, and add to the rewards of the righteous ones]. - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
And when We said: Enter this city, then eat from it a plenteous (food) wherever you wish, and enter the gate making obeisance, and say, forgiveness. We will forgive you your wrongs and give more to those who do good (to others). - Shakir, Habib
⦿
Remember when We said, [Enter this land and eat freely wherever you will. Make your way through the gates, bowing down and saying, [God! Forgive us our sins.] We shall forgive you your sins and We shall give abundance to those who do good.] - Wahiduddin Khan

اوروہ وقت بھی یاد کروجب ہم نے کہا کہ اس قریہ میں داخل ہوجاؤ اور جہاں چاہو اطمینان سے کھاؤ اور دروازہ سے سجدہ کرتے ہوئے اور حطکہتے ہوئے داخل ہو کہ ہم تمہاری خطائیں معاف کردیں گے اور ہم نیک عمل والوں کی جزا میں اضافہ بھی کردیتے ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

پھر یاد کرو جب ہم نے کہا تھا کہ، ——یہ بستی جو تمہارے سامنے ہے، اس میں داخل ہو جاؤ، اس کی پیداوار جس طرح چاہو، مزے سے کھاؤ، مگر بستی کے دروازے میں سجدہ ریز ہوتے ہو ئے داخل ہونا اور کہتے جانا حطۃ حطۃ، ہم تمہاری خطاؤں سے در گزر کریں گے اور نیکو کاروں کو مزید فضل و کرم سے نوازیں گے—— - Maududi, Abul A'ala

پھر اس میں جہاں چاہو بے روک ٹوک کھاؤ اور دروازہ میں سجدہ کرتے داخل ہو اور کہو ہمارے گناہ معاف ہوں ہم تمہاری خطائیں بخش دیں گے اور قریب ہے کہ نیکی والوں کو اور زیادہ دیں- - Ahmed Raza

اور (یاد کرو وہ وقت) جب ہم نے کہا کہ اس بستی (بیت المقدس یا اریحا) میں داخل ہو جاؤ اور اس میں سے جہاں سے چاہو (اور جو چاہو) مزے سے بافراغت کھاؤ۔ (پیو) اور دروازے سے سجدہ کرتے ہوے حطہ (بخشش) کہتے ہوئے داخل ہو جاؤ۔ ہم تمہاری خطائیں معاف کر دیں گے اور ہم نیکی کرنے والوں کو کچھ زیادہ ہی (ثواب) عطا کریں گے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

But then changed,
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
ظَلَمُوا۟
are in darkness,
قَوْلًا
telling
غَيْرَ
other than
ٱلَّذِى
that which
قِيلَ
was said
لَهُمْ
for them,
فَأَنزَلْنَا
so We poured
عَلَى
upon
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
ظَلَمُوا۟
are in darkness
رِجْزًۭا
commotion
مِّنَ
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the atmosphere
بِمَا
because of what
كَانُوا۟
they were
يَفْسُقُونَ
taking liberties from.
٢

فَبَدَّلَ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ قَوْلًا غَيْرَ ٱلَّذِى قِيلَ لَهُمْ فَأَنزَلْنَا عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ رِجْزًۭا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْسُقُونَ But then changed, the ones who are in darkness, telling other than that which was said for them, so We poured upon the ones who are in darkness commotion from the atmosphere because of what they were taking liberties from.

But those who did wrong changed the word which had been told them for another saying, and We sent down upon the evil-doers wrath from heaven for their evil-doing. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

But the wrongdoers changed the saying with other than what they were told. So We sent down on those who were wrongdoers a plague from the sky because of the transgressions they used to commit. - Qarai, Ali Quli

The unjust ones among you changed what they were told to say. Then, We afflicted them with a torment from the heavens for their evil deeds. - Sarwar, Muhammad

But those who were unjust changed it for a saying other than that which had been spoken to them, so We sent upon those who were unjust a pestilence from heaven, because they transgressed. - Shakir, Habib

But the wrongdoers changed the words to something other than what they had been told. So We sent down upon the transgressors a punishment from heaven, because they were disobedient. - Wahiduddin Khan

مگر ظالموں نے جو بات ان سے کہی گئی تھی اسے بدل دیا تو ہم نے ان ظالموں پر ان کی نافرمانی کی بنا ئ پر آسمان سے عذاب نازل کر دیا - Jawadi, Zeeshan

وَإِذِ
And when
ٱسْتَسْقَىٰ
sought to quench thirst
مُوسَىٰ
Moosa
لِقَوْمِهِۦ
for his nation,
فَقُلْنَا
so We said,
ٱضْرِب
[Strike
بِّعَصَاكَ
with your force (your staff)
ٱلْحَجَرَ
the obstacle (the stone)],
ۖ
فَٱنفَجَرَتْ
thus came forth
مِنْهُ
from that
ٱثْنَتَا
a closely-knit
عَشْرَةَ
society
عَيْنًۭا
being inclusive;
ۖ
قَدْ
for sure
عَلِمَ
knew
كُلُّ
all
أُنَاسٍۢ
people
مَّشْرَبَهُمْ
their source of enrichment.
ۖ
كُلُوا۟
[Consume
وَٱشْرَبُوا۟
and absorb
مِن
from
رِّزْقِ
sustenance of
ٱللَّهِ
the One,
وَلَا
and don't
تَعْثَوْا۟
you do mischief
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the land
مُفْسِدِينَ
by being corrupt.]

٦٠
وَإِذِ ٱسْتَسْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِۦ فَقُلْنَا ٱضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلْحَجَرَ ۖ فَٱنفَجَرَتْ مِنْهُ ٱثْنَتَا عَشْرَةَ عَيْنًۭا ۖ قَدْ عَلِمَ كُلُّ أُنَاسٍۢ مَّشْرَبَهُمْ ۖ كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ مِن رِّزْقِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ And when sought to quench thirst Moosa for his nation, so We said, [Strike with your force (your staff) the obstacle (the stone)], thus came forth from that a closely-knit society being inclusive; for sure knew all people their source of enrichment. [Consume and absorb from sustenance of the One, and don't you do mischief in the land by being corrupt.]

And when Moses asked for water for his people, We said: Smite with thy staff the rock. And there gushed out therefrom twelve springs (so that) each tribe knew their drinking-place. Eat and drink of that which Allah hath provided, and do not act corruptly, making mischief in the earth. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And when Moses prayed for water for his people, We said, [Strike the rock with your staff.] Thereat twelve fountains gushed forth from it; every tribe came to know its drinking-place. [Eat and drink of Allah]s provision, and do not act wickedly on the earth, causing corruption.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

When Moses prayed for rain, We told him to strike the rock with his staff. Thereupon twelve fountains gushed out of the rock and each tribe knew their drinking place. The Lord told them, [Eat and drink from God's bounties and do not abuse the earth with corruption.] - Sarwar, Muhammad

And when Musa prayed for drink for his people, We said: Strike the rock with your staff. So there gushed from it twelve springs; each tribe knew its drinking place: Eat and drink of the provisions of Allah and do not act corruptly in the land, making mischief. - Shakir, Habib

When Moses prayed for water for his people, We said to him, [Strike the rock with your staff!] And there gushed out from it twelve springs. Each tribe knew its drinking-place. [We said], [Eat and drink what God has provided and do not act wrongfully in the land, spreading corruption.] - Wahiduddin Khan

اور اس موقع کو یاد کرو جب موسٰی علیھ السّلام نے اپنی قوم کے لئے پانی کا مطالبہ کیا تو ہم نے کہا کہ اپنا اعصا پتھر پر مارو جس کے نتیجہ میں بارہ چشمے جاری ہوگئے اور سب نے اپنا اپنا گھاٹ پہچان لیا. اب ہم نے کہا کہ من وسلوٰی کھاؤ اور چشمہ کا پانی پیو اور روئے زمینمیں فساد نہ پھیلاؤ - Jawadi, Zeeshan

یاد کرو، جب موسیٰؑ نے اپنی قوم کے لیے پانی کی دعا کی تو ہم نے کہا کہ فلاں چٹان پر اپنا عصا مارو چنانچہ اس سے بارہ چشمے پھوٹ نکلے اور ہر قبیلے نے جان لیا کہ کونسی جگہ اس کے پانی لینے کی ہے اُس وقت یہ ہدایت کر دی گئی تھی کہ اللہ کا دیا ہوا رزق کھاؤ پیو، اور زمین میں فساد نہ پھیلاتے پھرو - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جب موسیٰ نے اپنی قوم کے لئے پانی مانگا تو ہم نے فرمایا اس پتھر پر اپنا عصا مارو فوراً اس میں سے بارہ چشمے بہ نکلے ہر گروہ نے اپنا گھاٹ پہچان لیا کھاؤ اور پیؤ خدا کا دیا اور زمین میں فساد اٹھاتے نہ پھرو - Ahmed Raza

اور (وہ وقت بھی یاد کرو) جب موسیٰ نے اپنی قوم کے لئے (خدا سے) پانی مانگا۔ تو ہم نے کہا اپنا عصا چٹان پر مارو جس کے نتیجہ میں بارہ چشمے پھوٹ نکلے اس طرح ہر گروہ نے اپنا اپنا گھاٹ معلوم کر لیا۔ (ہم نے کہا) خدا کے دیئے ہوئے رزق سے کھاؤ پیو اور زمین میں فساد پھیلاتے نہ پھرو۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

وَإِذْ
And (remember) when
قُلْتُمْ
you were saying,
يَٰمُوسَىٰ
[O Moosa!
لَن
Not can
نَّصْبِرَ
we persevere
عَلَىٰ
over
طَعَامٍۢ
a provision
وَٰحِدٍۢ
that is singular,
فَٱدْعُ
so call
لَنَا
for us
رَبَّكَ
your Rabb to
يُخْرِجْ
sprout
لَنَا
for us
مِمَّا
from what
تُنۢبِتُ
germinates
ٱلْأَرْضُ
the Earth
مِنۢ
of
بَقْلِهَا
her herb (shopkeeping),
وَقِثَّآئِهَا
and her cucumber (hoarding),
وَفُومِهَا
and her corn (commercial grain production),
وَعَدَسِهَا
and her lentil (magnifying original value),
وَبَصَلِهَا
and her onion (hiding original in layers upon layers, like an onion).]
ۖ
قَالَ
(Moosa) said,
أَتَسْتَبْدِلُونَ
[Do you exchange
ٱلَّذِى
that which
هُوَ
is
أَدْنَىٰ
lower
بِٱلَّذِى
by that which
هُوَ
is
خَيْرٌ
better?
ۚ
ٱهْبِطُوا۟
Be of lower standard
مِصْرًۭا
perpetually;
فَإِنَّ
surely
لَكُم
for you is
مَّا
what
سَأَلْتُمْ
you asked for!]
ۗ
وَضُرِبَتْ
And took
عَلَيْهِمُ
upon them
ٱلذِّلَّةُ
the humiliation,
وَٱلْمَسْكَنَةُ
and being stagnant,
وَبَآءُو
and they drew upon themselves
بِغَضَبٍۢ
with wrath
مِّنَ
of
ٱللَّهِ
the One.
ۗ
ذَٰلِكَ
That is
بِأَنَّهُمْ
because they
كَانُوا۟
were
يَكْفُرُونَ
denying
بِـَٔايَٰتِ
about signs of
ٱللَّهِ
the One,
وَيَقْتُلُونَ
and they killed
ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ
the revolutionary leaders
بِغَيْرِ
without
ٱلْحَقِّ
the right;
ۗ
ذَٰلِكَ
that is
بِمَا
due to
عَصَوا۟
rebellion,
وَّكَانُوا۟
and they were
يَعْتَدُونَ
being hostile.
٢
٦١
وَإِذْ قُلْتُمْ يَٰمُوسَىٰ لَن نَّصْبِرَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامٍۢ وَٰحِدٍۢ فَٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُخْرِجْ لَنَا مِمَّا تُنۢبِتُ ٱلْأَرْضُ مِنۢ بَقْلِهَا وَقِثَّآئِهَا وَفُومِهَا وَعَدَسِهَا وَبَصَلِهَا ۖ قَالَ أَتَسْتَبْدِلُونَ ٱلَّذِى هُوَ أَدْنَىٰ بِٱلَّذِى هُوَ خَيْرٌ ۚ ٱهْبِطُوا۟ مِصْرًۭا فَإِنَّ لَكُم مَّا سَأَلْتُمْ ۗ وَضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلذِّلَّةُ وَٱلْمَسْكَنَةُ وَبَآءُو بِغَضَبٍۢ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ يَكْفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ ۗ ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوا۟ وَّكَانُوا۟ يَعْتَدُونَ And (remember) when you were saying, [O Moosa! Not can we persevere over a provision that is singular, so call for us your Rabb to sprout for us from what germinates the Earth of her herb (shopkeeping), and her cucumber (hoarding), and her corn (commercial grain production), and her lentil (magnifying original value), and her onion (hiding original in layers upon layers, like an onion).] (Moosa) said, [Do you exchange that which is lower by that which is better? Be of lower standard perpetually; surely for you is what you asked for!] And took upon them the humiliation, and being stagnant, and they drew upon themselves with wrath of the One. That is because they were denying about signs of the One, and they killed the revolutionary leaders without the right; that is due to rebellion, and they were being hostile.

And when ye said: O Moses! We are weary of one kind of food; so call upon thy Lord for us that He bring forth for us of that which the earth groweth - of its herbs and its cucumbers and its corn and its lentils and its onions. He said: Would ye exchange that which is higher for that which is lower? Go down to settled country, thus ye shall get that which ye demand. And humiliation and wretchedness were stamped upon them and they were visited with wrath from Allah. That was because they disbelieved in Allah's revelations and slew the prophets wrongfully. That was for their disobedience and transgression. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And when you said, [O Moses, [We will not put up with one kind of food. So invoke your Lord for us, so that He may bring forth for us of that which the earth grows—its greens and cucumbers, its garlic, lentils, and onions.] He said, [Do you seek to replace what is superior with that which is inferior? Go down to any town and you will indeed get what you ask for!] So they were struck with abasement and poverty, and they earned Allah]s wrath. That, because they would deny the signs of Allah and kill the prophets unjustly. That, because they would disobey and commit transgressions. - Qarai, Ali Quli

When you demanded Moses to provide you with a variety of food, saying, [We no longer have patience with only one kind of food, ask your Lord to grow green herbs, cucumbers, corn, lentils, and onions for us,] Moses replied, [Would you change what is good for what is worse? Go to any town and you will get what you want.] Despised and afflicted with destitution, they brought the wrath of God back upon themselves, for they denied the evidence (of the existence of God) and murdered His Prophets without reason; they were disobedient transgressors. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And when you said: O Musa! we cannot bear with one food, therefore pray Lord on our behalf to bring forth for us out of what the earth grows, of its herbs and its cucumbers and its garlic and its lentils and its onions. He said: Will you exchange that which is better for that which is worse? Enter a city, so you will have what you ask for. And abasement and humiliation were brought down upon them, and they became deserving of Allah's wrath; this was so because they disbelieved in the communications of Allah and killed the prophets unjustly; this was so because they disobeyed and exceeded the limits. - Shakir, Habib

When you said, [Moses, we cannot bear to eat only one kind of food, so pray to your Lord to bring forth for us some of the earth's produce, its herbs and cucumbers, its garlic, lentils, and onions.] Moses said, [Would you take a lesser thing in exchange for what is better? Go to some town and there you will find all that you demand.] Abasement and destitution were stamped upon them, and they incurred the wrath of God, for having rejected His signs, and they killed His prophets unjustly, because they were rebels and transgressors. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور وہ وقت بھی یادکرو جب تم نے موسٰی علیھ السّلام سے کہا کہ ہم ایک قسم کے کھانے پر صبر نہیں کرسکتے. آپ پروردگار سے دعا کیجئے کہ ہمارے لئے زمین سے سبزیً ککڑیً لہسنً مسوراور پیاز وغیرہ پیدا کرے. موسٰی علیھ السّلام نے تمہیں سمجھایا کہ کیا بہترین نعمتوں کے بدلے معمولی نعمت لینا چاہتے ہو تو جاؤ کسی شہر میں اتر پڑو وہاں یہ سب کچھ مل جائے گا. اب ان پر ذلّت اور محتاجی کی مار پڑ گئی اور وہ غضب الٰہی میں گرفتار ہوگئے. یہ سب اس لئے ہوا کہ یہ لوگ آیات الٰہی کا انکار کرتے تھے اور ناحق انبیائ خدا کو قتل کردیا کرتے تھے. اس لئے کہ یہ سب نافرمان تھے اور ظلم کیا کرتے تھے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

یاد کرو، جب تم نے کہا تھا کہ، ——اے موسیٰؑ، ہم ایک ہی طرح کے کھانے پر صبر نہیں کرسکتے اپنے رب سے دعا کرو کہ ہمارے لیے زمین کی پیداوار ساگ، ترکاری، کھیرا، ککڑی، گیہوں، لہسن، پیاز، دال وغیرہ پیدا کرے—— تو موسیٰؑ نے کہا: ——کیا ایک بہتر چیز کے بجائے تم ادنیٰ درجے کی چیزیں لینا چاہتے ہو؟ اچھا، کسی شہری آبادی میں جا رہو جو کچھ تم مانگتے ہو، وہاں مل جائے گا—— آخر کار نوبت یہاں تک پہنچی کہ ذلت و خواری اور پستی و بد حالی اُن پر مسلط ہو گئی اور وہ اللہ کے غضب میں گھر گئے یہ نتیجہ تھا اس کا کہ وہ اللہ کی آیات سے کفر کرنے لگے اور پیغمبروں کو ناحق قتل کرنے لگے یہ نتیجہ تھا ان کی نافرمانیوں کا اور اس بات کا کہ وہ حدود شرع سے نکل نکل جاتے تھے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جب تم نے کہا اے موسیٰ ہم سے تو ایک کھانے پر ہرگز صبر نہ ہوگا تو آپ اپنے رب سے دعا کیجئے کہ زمین کی اگائی ہوئی چیزیں ہمارے لئے نکالے کچھ ساگ اور ککڑی اور گیہوں اور مسور اور پیاز فرمایا کیا ادنیٰ چیز کو بہتر کے بدلے مانگتے ہو اچھا مصر یا کسی شہر میں اترو وہاں تمہیں ملے گا جو تم نے مانگا اور ان پر مقرر کردی گئی خواری اور ناداری اور خدا کے غضب میں لوٹے یہ بدلہ تھا اس کا کہ وہ اللہ کی آیتوں کا انکار کرتے اور انبیاء کو ناحق شہید کرتے یہ بدلہ تھا ان کی نافرمانیوں اور حد سے بڑھنے کا- - Ahmed Raza

اور (وہ وقت بھی یاد کرو) جب تم نے کہا اے موسیٰ! ہم ایک ہی (قسم کے) کھانے پر ہرگز صبر نہیں کر سکتے۔ اس لئے آپ اپنے پروردگار سے ہمارے لئے دعا کیجئے کہ وہ (من و سلویٰ کی بجائے) ہمارے لئے وہ چیزیں نکالے (پیدا کرے) جو زمین اگاتی ہے جیسے ساگ پات، ترکاری، کھیرا، ککڑی، مسور اور لہسن پیاز۔ موسیٰ نے کہا کیا تم کمتر و کہتر چیز لینا چاہتے ہو اس کے بدلہ میں جو برتر و بہتر ہے۔ اچھا شہر میں اتر پڑو۔ بے شک (وہاں) تمہیں وہ کچھ مل جائے گا جو تم مانگتے ہو۔ اور (انجام کار) ان پر ذلت و خواری اور افلاس و ناداری مسلط ہوگئی۔ اور وہ (اللہ کی نشانیوں کا ) انکار کرتے تھے اور انبیاء کو ناحق قتل کرتے تھے (اور یہ اس لئے بھی ہوا) کہ وہ نافرمانی کرتے تھے اور حد سے بڑھ بڑھ جاتے تھے (سرکشی کرتے تھے)۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

Surely
ٱلَّذِينَ

are intimidating,
وَٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ
and the helpers,
وَٱلصَّٰبِـِٔينَ
and the hard workers
مَنْ
who
ءَامَنَ
became sure
بِٱللَّهِ
about the One,
وَٱلْيَوْمِ
and the day
ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ
that is to come,
وَعَمِلَ
and worked
صَٰلِحًۭا
constructively,
فَلَهُمْ
thus for them
أَجْرُهُمْ
their reward
عِندَ
originates
رَبِّهِمْ
their Rabb,
وَلَا
and no
خَوْفٌ
intimidation
عَلَيْهِمْ
upon them
وَلَا
and not
هُمْ
are
يَحْزَنُونَ
they depressed.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ وَٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ وَٱلصَّٰبِـِٔينَ مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحًۭا فَلَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ Surely the ones who have conviction, and the ones who are intimidating, and the helpers, and the hard workers who became sure about the One, and the day that is to come, and worked constructively, thus for them their reward originates their Rabb, and no intimidation upon them and not are they depressed.

Lo! Those who believe (in that which is revealed unto thee, Muhammad), and those who are Jews, and Christians, and Sabaeans - whoever believeth in Allah and the Last Day and doeth right - surely their reward is with their Lord, and there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Indeed the faithful, the Jews, the Christians and the Sabaeans—those of them who have faith in Allah and the Last Day and act righteously—they shall have their reward from their Lord, and they will have no fear, nor will they grieve. - Qarai, Ali Quli

However, those who have become believers (the Muslims), and the Jews, the Christians and the Sabaeans who believe in God and the Day of Judgment and strive righteously will receive their reward from the Lord and will have nothing to fear nor will they be grieved. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And (remember) when
أَخَذْنَا
We took
مِيثَٰقَكُمْ
your agreement
وَرَفَعْنَا
and We raised
فَوْقَكُمُ
above you
ٱلطُّورَ
the endeavour,
خُذُوا۟
[Take
مَآ
what
ءَاتَيْنَٰكُم
We give you
بِقُوَّةٍۢ
with strength
وَٱذْكُرُوا۟
and remember
مَا
what is
فِيهِ
in it
لَعَلَّكُمْ
that perhaps you
تَتَّقُونَ
become aware].

٦٣
وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَٰقَكُمْ وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَكُمُ ٱلطُّورَ خُذُوا۟ مَآ ءَاتَيْنَٰكُم بِقُوَّةٍۢ وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ مَا فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ And (remember) when We took your agreement and We raised above you the endeavour, [Take what We give you with strength and remember what is in it that perhaps you become aware].

And (remember, O Children of Israel) when We made a covenant with you and caused the mount to tower above you, (saying): Hold fast that which We have given you, and remember that which is therein, that ye may ward off (evil). - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And when We took a pledge from you, and raised the Mount above you, [declaring], [Hold on with power to what We have given you and remember that which is in it so that you may be Godwary.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

Children of Israel, recall when We made a covenant with you, raised Mount Tur (Sinai) above you and told you to receive earnestly what We had given to you and bear it in mind so that you would protect yourselves against evil. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And when We took a promise from you and lifted the mountain over you: Take hold of the law (Tavrat) We have given you with firmness and bear in mind what is in it, so that you may guard (against evil). - Shakir, Habib

اور اس وقت کو یاد کرو جب ہم نے تم سے توریت پر عمل کرنے کا عہد لیا اور تمہارے سروں پر کوہ طور کو لٹکا دیا کہ اب توریت کو مضبوطی سے پکڑو اور جو کچھ اس میں ہے اسے یاد رکھو شاید اس طرح پرہیز گار بن جاؤ - Jawadi, Zeeshan

یاد کرو وہ وقت، جب ہم نے طُور کو تم پر اٹھا کر تم سے پختہ عہد لیا تھا اور کہا تھا کہ ——جو کتاب ہم تمہیں دے رہے ہیں اسے مضبوطی کے ساتھ تھامنا اور جو احکام و ہدایات اس میں درج ہیں انہیں یاد رکھنا اسی ذریعے سے توقع کی جاسکتی ہے کہ تم تقویٰ کی روش پر چل سکو گے—— - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جب ہم نے تم سے عہد لیا اور تم پر طور کو اونچا کیا لو جو کچھ ہم تم کو دیتے ہیں زور سے اور اس کے مضمون یاد کرو اس امید پر کہ تمہیں پرہیزگاری ملے- - Ahmed Raza
