On the day when it will (all) be heated in the fire of hell, and their foreheads and their flanks and their backs will be branded therewith (and it will be said unto them): Here is that which ye hoarded for yourselves. Now taste of what ye used to hoard. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Lo! the number of the months with Allah is twelve months by Allah's ordinance in the day that He created the heavens and the earth. Four of them are sacred: that is the right religion. So wrong not yourselves in them. And wage war on all of the idolaters as they are waging war on all of you. And know that Allah is with those who keep their duty (unto Him). - Pickthall, Marmaduke

حقیقت یہ ہے کہ مہینوں کی تعداد جب سے اللہ نے آسمان و زمین کو پیدا کیا ہے اللہ کے نوشتے میں بارہ ہی ہے، اور ان میں سے چار مہینے حرام ہیں یہی ٹھیک ضابطہ ہے لہٰذا ان چار مہینوں میں اپنے اوپر ظلم نہ کرو اور مشرکوں سے سب مل کر لڑو جس طرح وہ سب مل کر تم سے لڑتے ہیں اور جان رکھو کہ اللہ متقیوں ہی کے ساتھ ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

Postponement (of a sacred month) is only an excess of disbelief whereby those who disbelieve are misled; they allow it one year and forbid it (another) year, that they may make up the number of the months which Allah hath hallowed, so that they allow that which Allah hath forbidden. The evil of their deeds is made fairseeming unto them. Allah guideth not the disbelieving folk. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Indeed nasee is an increase in unfaith, whereby the faithless are led [further] astray. They allow it in one year and forbid it another year, so as to fit in with the number, which Allah has made inviolable, thus permitting what Allah has forbidden. To disregard the observation of the sacred months and to observe it during the non-sacred months is to add more to one's disbelief. This causes the unbelievers to go further astray. One year they (the pagans) consider a sacred month not sacred, (and observe it during a non-sacred month) but the next year they consider it sacred at the right time. By dealing with the sacred months in such a manner, they think that they have observed the laws of God, but, in fact, they have changed them. Their evil deeds seem attractive to them but God does not guide the unbelieving people. - Sarwar, Muhammad

محترم مہینوں میں تقدیم و تاخیر کفر میں ایک قسم کی زیادتی ہے جس کے ذریعہ کفاّر کو گمراہ کیا جاتا ہے کہ وہ ایک سال اسے حلال بنالیتے ہیں اور دوسرے سال حرام کردیتے ہیں تاکہ اتنی تعداد برابر ہوجائے جتنی خدا نے حرام کی ہے اور حرام هخدا حلال بھی ہوجائے -ان کے بدترین اعمال کو ان کی نگاہ میں آراستہ کردیا گیا ہے اور اللہ کافر قوم کی ہدایت نہیں کرتا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

نسی تو کفر میں ایک مزید کافرانہ حرکت ہے جس سے یہ کافر لوگ گمراہی میں مبتلا کیے جاتے ہیں کسی سال ایک مہینے کو حلال کر لیتے ہیں اور کسی سال اُس کو حرام کر دیتے ہیں، تاکہ اللہ کے حرام کیے ہوئے مہینوں کی تعداد پوری بھی کر دیں اور اللہ کا حرام کیا ہوا حلال بھی کر لیں ان کے برے اعمال ان کے لیے خوشنما بنا دیے گئے ہیں اور اللہ منکرین حق کو ہدایت نہیں دیا کرتا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

ان کا مہینے پیچھے ہٹانا نہیں مگر اور کفر میں بڑھنا اس سے کافر بہکائے جاتے ہیں ایک برس اسے حلال ٹھہراتے ہیں اور دوسرے برس اسے حرام مانتے ہیں کہ اس گنتی کے برابر ہوجائیں جو اللہ نے حرام فرمائی اور اللہ کے حرام کیے ہوئے حلال کرلیں، ان کے برے کا م ان کی آنکھوں میں بھلے لگتے ہیں، اور اللہ کافروں کو راہ نہیں دیتا، - Ahmed Raza

سوا اس کے نہیں ہے کہ نسیئی (حرمت والے مہینوں کو مؤخر کرنا) کفر میں زیادتی کا موجب ہے۔ اس سے وہ لوگ گمراہ کئے جاتے ہیں جو کافر ہیں۔ وہ اسے ایک سال حلال قرار دیتے ہیں اور اسی کو دوسرے سال حرام قرار دیتے ہیں تاکہ ان مہینوں کی گنتی پوری کریں جنہیں اللہ نے حرام کیا ہے تاکہ اس (حیلے) سے اللہ کی حرام کردہ کو اپنے لئے حلال قرار دیں۔ ان کے برے اعمال ان کے لئے آراستہ کر دیے گئے ہیں اور اللہ کافروں کو منزلِ مقصود تک نہیں پہنچاتا۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

O ye who believe! What aileth you that when it is said unto you: Go forth in the way of Allah, ye are bowed down to the ground with heaviness. Take ye pleasure in the life of the world rather than in the Hereafter? The comfort of the life of the world is but little in the Hereafter. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

O you who have faith! What is the matter with you that when you are told: [Go forth in the way of Allah,] you sink heavily to the ground? Are you pleased with the life of this world instead of the Hereafter? But the wares of the life of this world compared with the Hereafter are but insignificant. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Believers, why is it that when you are told to march for the cause of God, you seem to linger at home. Have you given preference to the worldly life over the life hereafter? The worldly gains compared to those of the next life are but very little. - Sarwar, Muhammad

O you who believe! What (excuse) have you that when it is said to you: Go forth in Allah's way, you should incline heavily to earth; are you contented with this world's life instead of the hereafter? But the provision of this world's life compared with the hereafter is but little. - Shakir, Habib

If ye go not forth He will afflict you with a painful doom, and will choose instead of you a folk other than you. Ye cannot harm Him at all. Allah is Able to do all things. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

If ye help him not, still Allah helped him when those who disbelieve drove him forth, the second of two; when they two were in the cave, when he said unto his comrade: Grieve not. Lo! Allah is with us. Then Allah caused His peace of reassurance to descend upon him and supported him with hosts ye cannot see, and made the word of those who disbelieved the nethermost, while Allah's Word it was that became the uppermost. If you do not help him, then Allah certainly helped him when the faithless expelled him, as one of two [refugees], when the two of them were in the cave, he said to his companion, [Do not grieve; Allah is indeed with us.] Then Allah sent down His composure upon him, and strengthened him with hosts you did not see, and He made the word of the faithless the lowest; and the word of Allah is the highest; and Allah is all-mighty, all-wise. - Qarai, Ali Quli

If you do not help him, (Muhammad), God has already helped him. When the unbelievers expelled him and he was one of the two people in the cave telling his friend, [Do not worry; God is with us,] then God gave him confidence and supported him with an army which you did not see and He defeated the cause of the disbelievers and made His own cause stand supreme. God is Majestic and All-wise. - Sarwar, Muhammad

If you will not aid him, Allah certainly aided him when those who disbelieved expelled him, he being the second of the two, when they were both in the cave, when he said to his companion: Grieve not, surely Allah is with us. So Allah sent down His tranquillity upon him and strengthened him with hosts which you did not see, and made lowest the word of those who disbelieved; and the word of Allah, that is the highest; and Allah is Mighty, Wise. - Shakir, Habib

If you do not support him [Muhammad], know that God did support him when those who denied the truth expelled him when the two of them were in the cave, he [Muhammad] told his companion, [Do not worry; for God is with us.] So God sent His tranquillity down on him and aided him with forces invisible to you and placed the word of those who disbelieved lowest, while God's word remained supreme. God is powerful and wise. - Wahiduddin Khan

اگر تم پیغمبر کی مدد نہ کرو گے تو ان کی مدد خدا نے کی ہے اس وقت جب کفاّر نے انہیں وطن سے باہر نکال دیا اور وہ ایک شخص کے ساتھ نکلے اور دونوں غار میں تھے تو وہ اپنے ساتھی سے کہہ رہے تھے کہ رنج نہ کرو خدا ہمارے ساتھ ہے پھر خدا نے اپنی طرف سے اپنے پیغمبر پر سکون نازل کردیا اور ان کی تائید ان لشکروں سے کردی جنہیں تم نہ دیکھ سکے اور اللہ ہی نے کفاّر کے کلمہ کو پست بنادیا ہے اور اللہ کا کلمہ درحقیقت بہت بلند ہے کہ وہ صاحب هعزت و غلبہ بھی ہے اور صاحب هحکمت بھی ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

تم نے اگر نبیؐ کی مدد نہ کی تو کچھ پروا نہیں، اللہ اُس کی مدد اس وقت کر چکا ہے جب کافروں نے اسے نکال دیا تھا، جب وہ صرف دو میں کا دوسرا تھا، جب وہ دونوں غار میں تھے، جب وہ اپنی ساتھی سے کہہ رہا تھا کہ ——غم نہ کر، اللہ ہمارے ساتھ ہے—— اُس وقت اللہ نے اس پر اپنی طرف سے سکون قلب نازل کیا اور اس کی مدد ایسے لشکروں سے کی جو تم کو نظر نہ آتے تھے اور کافروں کا بول نیچا کر دیا اور اللہ کا بول تو اونچا ہی ہے، اللہ زبردست اور دانا و بینا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اگر تم محبوب کی مدد نہ کرو تو بیشک اللہ نے ان کی مدد فرمائی جب کافروں کی شرارت سے انہیں باہر تشریف لے جانا ہوا صرف دو جان سے جب وہ دونوں غار میں تھے جب اپنے یار سے فرماتے تھے غم نہ کھا بیشک اللہ ہمارے ساتھ ہے تو اللہ نے اس پر اپنا سکینہ اتارا اور ان فوجوں سے اس کی مدد کی جو تم نے نہ دیکھیں اور کافروں کی بات نیچے ڈالی اللہ ہی کا بول بالا ہے اور اللہ غالب حکمت والا ہے، - Ahmed Raza

اور اگر تم ان (رسول(ص)) کی نصرت نہیں کروگے (تو نہ کرو) اللہ نے ان کی اس وقت نصرت کی جب کافروں نے ان کو (وطن سے) نکال دیا تھا۔ اور آپ دو میں سے دوسرے تھے۔ جب دونوں غار میں تھے اس وقت وہ اپنے ساتھی سے کہہ رہے تھے کہ غمگین نہ ہو یقینا اللہ ہمارے ساتھ ہے۔ سو اللہ نے ان (رسول(ص)) پر اپنی تسکین نازل کی اور ان کی ایسے لشکروں سے مدد کی جن کو تم نے نہیں دیکھا۔ اور اللہ نے کافروں کے بول کو نیچا کر دیا اور اللہ کا بول ہی بالا ہے۔ اور اللہ زبردست ہے بڑا حکمت والا ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

Go forth, light-armed and heavy-armed, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the way of Allah! That is best for you if ye but knew. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Go forth, whether [armed] lightly or heavily, and wage jihad with your possessions and persons in the way of Allah. That is better for you, should you know. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Had it been a near adventure and an easy journey they had followed thee, but the distance seemed too far for them. Yet will they swear by Allah (saying): If we had been able we would surely have set out with you. They destroy their souls, and Allah knoweth that they verily are liars. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Were it an accessible gain or a short journey, they would have surely followed you; but the distance seemed too far to them. اے نبیؐ، اگر فائدہ سہل الحصول ہوتا اور سفر ہلکا ہوتا تو وہ ضرور تمہارے پیچھے چلنے پر آمادہ ہو جاتے، مگر ان پر تو یہ راستہ بہت کٹھن ہو گیا اب وہ خدا کی قسم کھا کھا کر کہیں گے کہ اگر ہم چل سکتے تو یقیناً تمہارے ساتھ چلتے وہ اپنے آپ کو ہلاکت میں ڈال رہے ہیں اللہ خوب جانتا ہے کہ وہ جھوٹے ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اگر کوئی قریب مال یا متوسط سفر ہوتا تو ضرور تمہارے ساتھ جاتے مگر ان پر تو مشقت کا راستہ دور پڑ گیا، اور اب اللہ کی قسم کھائیں گے کہ ہم سے بن پڑتا تو ضرور تمہارے ساتھ چلتے اپنی جانو کو ہلاک کرتے ہیں اور اللہ جانتا ہے کہ وہ بیشک ضرور جھوٹے ہیں، - Ahmed Raza
