And the answer of his people was only that they said (one to another): Turn them out of your township. They are folk, forsooth, who keep pure. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

وَإِلَىٰ مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْبًۭا ۗ قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥ ۖ قَدْ جَآءَتْكُم بَيِّنَةٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ ۖ فَأَوْفُوا۟ ٱلْكَيْلَ وَٱلْمِيزَانَ وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشْيَآءَهُمْ وَلَا تُفْسِدُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بَعْدَ إِصْلَٰحِهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌۭ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And unto Midian (We sent) their brother, Shu'eyb. He said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other Allah save Him. Lo! a clear proof hath come unto you from your Lord; so give full measure and full weight and wrong not mankind in their goods, and work not confusion in the earth after the fair ordering thereof. That will be better for you, if ye are believers. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And to [the people of] Midian [We sent] Shu[ayb, their brother. He said, [O my people, worship Allah! You have no other god besides Him. There has certainly come to you a manifest proof from your Lord. Observe fully the measure and the balance, and do not cheat the people of their goods, and do not cause corruption on the earth after its restoration. That is better for you, if you are faithful. - Qarai, Ali Quli

We sent to the people of Midian their brother Shu'ayb who also told his people to worship God their only Lord. He said, [A guidance has come to you from your Lord. Maintain proper measures and weights in trade. Do not cause any deficiency in people's property or destroy the land after it has been reformed. This is for your own good, if you have any faith. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And to Madyan (We sent) their brother Shu'aib. He said: O my people! serve Allah, you have no god other than Him; clear proof indeed has come to you from your Lord, therefore give full measure and weight and do not diminish to men their things, and do not make mischief in the land after its reform; this is better for you if you are believers: - Shakir, Habib

To Midian We sent their brother Shu'ayb. He said, [O my people, worship God; you have no other god but Him. A clear Sign has indeed come to you from your Lord. So give full measure and full weight, and do not deliver short. Do not corrupt the land after it has been set in order. This is for your own good, if you are true believers. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور ہم نے قوم مدین کی طرف ان کے بھائی شعیب علیھ السّلامکو بھیجا تو انہوں نے کہا کہ اللہ کی عبادت کرو کہ اس کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے - تمہارے پاس پروردگار کی طرف سے دلیل آچکی ہے اب ناپ تول کو پورا پورا رکھو اور لوگوں کو چیزیں کم نہ دو اور اصلاح کے بعد زمین میں فساد برپا نہ کرو -یہی تمہارے حق میں بہتر ہے اگر تم ایمان لانے والے ہو - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور مدین والوں کی طرف ہم نے ان کے بھائی شعیبؑ کو بھیجا اس نے کہا ——اے برادران قوم، اللہ کی بندگی کرو، اُس کے سوا تمہارا کوئی خدا نہیں ہے تمہارے پاس تمہارے رب کی صاف رہنمائی آ گئی ہے، لہٰذا وزن اور پیمانے پورے کرو، لوگوں کو اُن کی چیزوں میں گھاٹا نہ دو، اور زمین میں فساد برپا نہ کرو جب کہ اس کی اصلاح ہو چکی ہے، اسی میں تمہاری بھلائی ہے اگر تم واقعی مومن ہو - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور مدین کی طرف ان کی برادری سے شعیب کو بھیجا کہا اے میری قوم! اللہ کی عبادت کرو اس کے سوا تمہارا کوئی معبود نہیں، بے شک تمہارے پاس تمہارے رب کی طرف سے روشن دلیل آئی تو ناپ اور تول پوری کرو اور لوگوں کی چیزیں گھٹا کر نہ دو اور زمین میں انتظام کے بعد فساد نہ پھیلاؤ، یہ تمہارا بھلا ہے اگر ایمان لاؤ، - Ahmed Raza

اور ہم نے مدین کی طرف ان کے (قومی) بھائی شعیب کو بھیجا۔ انہوں نے کہا اے میری قوم! اللہ ہی کی عبادت کرو۔ اس کے سوا تمہارا کوئی الٰہ نہیں ہے۔ یقینا تمہارے پاس تمہارے پروردگار کی طرف سے کھلا نشان بھی آچکا ہے۔ پس ناپ تول پوری کیا کرو اور لوگوں کو ان کی (خرید کردہ) چیزیں کم نہ دیا کرو۔ اور زمین میں اس کی اصلاح کے بعد فساد نہ پھیلاؤ۔ یہ بات تمہارے لئے بہتر ہے اگر تم ایمان والے ہو۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

وَلَا تَقْعُدُوا۟ بِكُلِّ صِرَٰطٍۢ تُوعِدُونَ وَتَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِهِۦ وَتَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًۭا ۚ وَٱذْكُرُوٓا۟ إِذْ كُنتُمْ قَلِيلًۭا فَكَثَّرَكُمْ ۖ وَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

Lurk not on every road to threaten (wayfarers), and to turn away from Allah's path him who believeth in Him, and to seek to make it crooked. And remember, when ye were but few, how He did multiply you. And see the nature of the consequence for the corrupters! - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And do not lie in wait on every road to threaten and bar those who have faith in Him from the way of Allah, seeking to make it crooked. Remember when you were few, and He multiplied you, and observe how was the fate of the agents of corruption. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Do not ambush the believers or hinder them from every path that leads them to God just because you wish to make such ways seem crooked. Recall the time when you were just a few in number and God multiplied you. Consider how terrible the end of the evil-doers was! - Sarwar, Muhammad

And do not lie in wait in every path, threatening and turning away from Allah's way him who believes in Him and seeking to make it crooked; and remember when you were few then He multiplied you, and consider what was the end of the mischief-makers. - Shakir, Habib

وَطَآئِفَةٌۭ
and a group
لَّمْ
who is not
يُؤْمِنُوا۟
convinced,
فَٱصْبِرُوا۟
then persevere
حَتَّىٰ
till
يَحْكُمَ
judges
ٱللَّهُ
the One
بَيْنَنَا
between us,
ۚ
وَهُوَ
and He is
خَيْرُ
best of
ٱلْحَٰكِمِينَ
the judges.]

وَإِن كَانَ طَآئِفَةٌۭ مِّنكُمْ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِٱلَّذِىٓ أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِۦ وَطَآئِفَةٌۭ لَّمْ يُؤْمِنُوا۟ فَٱصْبِرُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يَحْكُمَ ٱللَّهُ بَيْنَنَا ۚ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ ٱلْحَٰكِمِينَ [And if was a group from you who is convinced about that which I've been sent through it, and a group who is not convinced, then persevere till judges the One between us, and He is best of the judges.]

And if there is a party of you which believeth in that wherewith I have been sent, and there is a party which believeth not, then have patience until Allah judge between us. He is the Best of all who deal in judgment. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

ٱلْمَلَأُ
the religious clerics,
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
ٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟
were arrogant
مِن
from
قَوْمِهِۦ
his nation,
لَنُخْرِجَنَّكَ
[For sure we are to evict you
يَٰشُعَيْبُ
O Shoaib,
وَٱلَّذِينَ
and the ones who
ءَامَنُوا۟
have conviction
مَعَكَ
along with you
مِن
from
قَرْيَتِنَآ
our habitat,
أَوْ
unless
لَتَعُودُنَّ
you assimilate
فِى
within
مِلَّتِنَا
our doctrine.]
ۚ
قَالَ
(Shoaib) replied,
أَوَلَوْ
[Even if
كُنَّا
we happened to be
كَٰرِهِينَ
repulsed of it?]

قَالَ ٱلْمَلَأُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ مِن قَوْمِهِۦ لَنُخْرِجَنَّكَ يَٰشُعَيْبُ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَعَكَ مِن قَرْيَتِنَآ أَوْ لَتَعُودُنَّ فِى مِلَّتِنَا ۚ قَالَ أَوَلَوْ كُنَّا كَٰرِهِينَ Said the religious clerics, the ones who were arrogant from his nation, [For sure we are to evict you O Shoaib, and the ones who have conviction along with you from our habitat, unless you assimilate within our doctrine.] (Shoaib) replied, [Even if we happened to be repulsed of it?]

The chieftains of his people, who were scornful, said: Surely we will drive thee out, O Shu'eyb, and those who believe with thee, from our township, unless ye return to our religion. He said: Even though we hate it? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

The elite of his people who were arrogant said, [O Shu'ayb, we will surely expel you and the faithful who are with you from our town, or else you shall revert to our creed.] He said, [What! Even if we should be unwilling?! - Qarai, Ali Quli

A proud group among Shu'ayb's people said, [We must expel you (Shu'ayb) and your followers from our town unless you give-up your faith and live as our own people.] Shu'ayb asked them, [Will you use force against us? - Sarwar, Muhammad

The chiefs, those who were proud from among his people said: We will most certainly turn you out, O Shu'aib, and (also; those who believe with you, from our town, or you shall come back to our faith. He said: What! though we dislike (it)? - Shakir, Habib

The arrogant leaders of his people said, [Shu'ayb, we will expel you and your fellow believers from our town unless you return to our faith.] He said, [Even though we detest it? - Wahiduddin Khan

ان کی قوم کے مستکبرین نے کہا کہ اے شعیب علیھ السّلامہم تم کو اور تمہارے ساتھ ایمان لانے والوں کو اپنی بستی سے نکال باہر کریں گے یا تم بھی پلٹ کر ہمارے مذہب پر آجاؤ .... انہوں نے جواب دیا کہ چاہے ہم تمہارے مذہب سے بیزار ہی کیوں نہ ہوں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

ضرور ہم اللہ پر جھوٹ باندھیں گے اگر تمہارے دین میں آجائیں بعد اس کے کہ اللہ نے ہمیں اس سے بچایا ہے اور ہم مسلمانوں میں کسی کا کام نہیں کہ تمہارے دین میں آئے مگر یہ کہ اللہ چاہے جو ہمارا رب ہے، ہمارے رب کا علم ہر چیز کو محیط ہے، اللہ ہی پر بھروسہ کیا اے ہمارے رب! ہم میں اور ہماری قوم میں حق فیصلہ کر اور تیرا فیصلہ سب سے بہتر ہے، - Ahmed Raza

But the chieftains of his people, who were disbelieving, said: If ye follow Shu'eyb, then truly ye shall be the losers. - Pickthall, Marmaduke
