وَقَالَتِ

وَقَالَتِ ٱلْيَهُودُ وَٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ نَحْنُ أَبْنَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱللَّهِ وَأَحِبَّٰٓؤُهُۥ ۚ قُلْ فَلِمَ يُعَذِّبُكُم بِذُنُوبِكُم ۖ بَلْ أَنتُم بَشَرٌۭ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقَ ۚ يَغْفِرُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ ٱلْمَصِيرُ

The Jews and Christians say: We are sons of Allah and His loved ones. Say: Why then doth He chastise you for your sins? Nay, ye are but mortals of His creating. He forgiveth whom He will, and chastiseth whom He will. Allah's is the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, and unto Him is the journeying.

The Jews and the Christians say, [We are Allah]s children and His beloved ones.] Say, [Then why does He punish you for your sins?] No, you are humans from among His creatures. He forgives whomever He wishes, and punishes whomever He wishes, and to Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and whatever is between them, and toward Him is the return.

The Jews and Christians call themselves the beloved sons of God. (Muhammad), ask them, [Why does God punish you for your sins? In fact, you are mere human beings whom He has created. He forgives and punishes whomever He wants. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens, the earth, and all that is between them and to Him do all things return.

اور یہودیوں نے یہ کہنا شروع کردیا کہ ہم اللہ کے فرزند اور اس کے دوست ہیں تو پیغمبر آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ پھر خدا تم پر تمہارے گناہوں کی بنا پر عذاب کیوںکرتا ہے ... بلکہ تم اس کی مخلوقات میں سے بشر ہو اور وہ جس کو چاہتا ہے بخش دیتا ہے اور جس پر چاہتا ہے عذاب کرتا ہے اور اس کے لئے زمین و آسمان اور ان کے درمیان کی کل کائنات ہے اور اسی کی طرف سب کی بازگشت ہے

یہود اور نصاریٰ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم اللہ کے بیٹے اور اس کے چہیتے ہیں ان سے پوچھو، پھر وہ تمہارے گناہوں پر تمہیں سزا کیوں دیتا ہے؟ در حقیقت تم بھی ویسے ہی انسان ہو جیسے اور انسان خدا نے پیدا کیے ہیں وہ جسے چاہتا ہے معاف کرتا ہے اور جسے چاہتا ہے سزا دیتا ہے زمین اور آسمان اور ان کی ساری موجودات اس کی مِلک ہیں، اور اسی کی طرف سب کو جانا ہے

اور یہودی اور نصرانی بولے کہ ہم اللہ کے بیٹے اور اس کے پیارے ہیں تم فرما دو پھر تمہیں کیوں تمہارے گناہوں پر عذاب فرماتا ہے بلکہ تم آدمی ہو اس کی مخلوقات سے جسے چاہے بخشتا ہے اور جسے چاہے سزا دیتا ہے، اور اللہ ہی کے لئے ہے سلطنت آسمانوں اور زمین اور اس کے درمیان کی، اور اسی کی طرف پھرنا ہے،

یہود و نصاریٰ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم اللہ کے بیٹے اور اس کے چہیتے ہیں۔ ان سے کہو (پوچھو) پھر خدا تمہیں تمہارے گناہوں پر سزا کیوں دیتا ہے؟ (نہیں) بلکہ تم بھی اس کی مخلوقات میں سے محض بشر (انسان) ہو۔ وہ جسے چاہتا ہے، بخش دیتا ہے اور جسے چاہتا ہے۔ سزا دیتا ہے اور اللہ ہی کے لئے ہے، سلطنت آسمانوں کی، زمین کی اور جو کچھ ان کے درمیان ہے اس کی اور سب کی بازگشت اسی کی طرف ہے۔

يَٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ قَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولُنَا يُبَيِّنُ لَكُمْ عَلَىٰ فَتْرَةٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلرُّسُلِ أَن تَقُولُوا۟ مَا جَآءَنَا مِنۢ بَشِيرٍۢ وَلَا نَذِيرٍۢ ۖ فَقَدْ جَآءَكُم بَشِيرٌۭ وَنَذِيرٌۭ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرٌۭ

⦿

O People of the Scripture! Now hath Our messenger come unto you to make things plain unto you after an interval (of cessation) of the messengers, lest ye should say: There came not unto us a messenger of cheer nor any warner. Now hath a messenger of cheer and a warner come unto you. Allah is Able to do all things.

O People of the Book! Certainly Our Apostle has come to you, clarifying [the Divine teachings] for you after a gap in [the appearance of] the apostles, lest you should say, [There did not come to us any bearer of good news nor any warner.] Certainly, there has come to you a bearer of good news and a warner. And Allah has power over all things.

⦿

People of the Book, Our Messenger has come to you to guide you at a time when none of Our other Messengers are living among you. (We sent him) so that you will not complain about having no one to tell you of what is good or warn you of what is bad. Now a bearer of good news has come to you. God has power over all things.

⦿

O followers of the Book! indeed Our Apostle has come to you explaining to you after a cessation of the (mission of the) apostles, lest you say: There came not to us a giver of good news or a warner, so indeed there has come to you a giver of good news and a warner; and Allah has power over all things.

People of the Book, Our Messenger has come to you to make things clear to you after an interval between the messengers, lest you say, [No bearer of glad tidings and no warner has come to us.] So a bearer of glad tidings and a warner has indeed come to you. God has the power to do all things.

اے اہلِ کتاب تمہارے پاس رسولوں کے ایک وقفہ کے بعد ہمارا یہ رسول آیا ہے کہ تم یہ نہ کہو کہ ہمارے پاس کوئی بشیر و نذیر نہیں آیا تھا تو لو یہ بشیر و نذیر آگیا ہے اور خدا ہر شے پر قادر ہے

⦿

اے اہل کتاب! ہمارا یہ رسول ایسے وقت تمہارے پاس آیا ہے اور دین کی واضح تعلیم تمہیں دے رہا ہے جبکہ رسولوں کی آمد کا سلسلہ ایک مدت سے بند تھا، تاکہ تم یہ نہ کہہ سکو کہ ہمارے پاس کوئی بشارت دینے والا اور ڈرانے والا نہیں آیا سو دیکھو! اب وہ بشارت دینے اور ڈرانے والا آ گیا اور اللہ ہر چیز پر قادر ہے

⦿

اے کتاب والو! بیشک تمہارے پاس ہمارے یہ رسول تشریف لائے کہ تم پر ہمارے احکام ظاہر فرماتے ہیں بعد اس کے کہ رسولوں کا آنا مدتوں بند رہا تھا کہ کبھی کہو کہ ہمارے پاس کوئی خوشی اور ڈر سنانے والا نہ آیا تو یہ خوشی اور ڈر سنانے والے تمہارے پاس تشریف لائے ہیں، اور اللہ کو سب قدرت ہے،

اے اہلِ کتاب، ہمارا رسول جو کھول کر (ہمارے احکام) بیان کرتا ہے۔ ایسے وقت تمہارے پاس آیا کہ جب کچھ عرصہ سے رسولوں کی آمد کا سلسلہ بند تھا، تاکہ تم یہ نہ کہہ سکو کہ ہمارے پاس کوئی خوشخبری دینے والا اور ڈرانے والا نہیں آیا، تو لو تمہارے پاس بشارت دینے والا اور ڈرانے والا آگیا ہے اور اللہ ہر چیز پر پوری قدرت رکھتا ہے۔

٢٠

وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِۦ يَٰقَوْمِ ٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ جَعَلَ فِيكُمْ أَنۢبِيَآءَ وَجَعَلَكُم مُّلُوكًۭا وَءَاتَىٰكُم مَّا لَمْ يُؤْتِ أَحَدًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

⦿

And (remember) when Moses said unto his people: O my people! Remember Allah's favour unto you, how He placed among you prophets, and He made you kings, and gave you that (which) He gave not to any (other) of (His) creatures.

When Moses said to his people, [O my people, remember Allah]s blessing upon you when He appointed prophets among you, and made you kings, and gave you what none of the nations were given.

When Moses told his people, [Recall God's favors to you. He made Messengers and Kings out of your own people and gave you what He had not given to others-

And when Musa said to his people: O my people! remember the favor of Allah upon you when He raised prophets among you and made you kings and gave you what He had not given to any other among the nations.

Remember when Moses said to his people, [O my people! Remember God's favour to you, He has raised up prophets among you, made you kings, and granted you [favours] such as He has not granted to anyone else in the world.

اور اس وقت کو یاد کرو جب موسٰی نے اپنی قوم سے کہا کہ اے قوم اپنے اوپر اللہ کی نعمت کو یاد کرو جب اس نے تم میں انبیائ قرار دئیے اور تمہیں بادشاہ بنایا اور تمہیں وہ سب کچھ دے دیا جو عالمین میں کسی کو نہیں دیا تھا

یاد کرو جب موسیٰؑ نے اپنی قوم سے کہا تھا کہ ——اے میری قوم کے لوگو! اللہ کی اُس نعمت کا خیال کرو جو اس نے تمہیں عطا کی تھی اُس نے تم میں نبی پیدا کیے، تم کو فرماں روا بنایا، اور تم کو وہ کچھ دیا جو دنیا میں کسی کو نہ دیا تھا

⦿

اور جب موسیٰ نے کہا اپنی قوم سے اے میری قوم اللہ کا احسان اپنے اوپر یاد کرو کہ تم میں سے پیغمبر کیے اور تمہیں بادشاہ کیا اور تمہیں وہ دیا جو آج سارے جہان میں کسی کو نہ دیا

وہ وقت یاد کرو۔ جب جناب موسیٰ نے اپنی قوم سے کہا اے میری قوم! تم اللہ کا وہ احسان یاد کرو۔ جو اس نے تم پر کیا۔ اس نے تم میں نبی بنائے اور تمہیں فرمانروا اور خودمختار بنایا۔ اور تمہیں وہ کچھ دیا جو دنیا جہان والوں میں سے کسی کو نہیں دیا۔

خَٰسِرِينَ

٢١

يَٰقَوْمِ ٱدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْأَرْضَ ٱلْمُقَدَّسَةَ ٱلَّتِى كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَلَا تَرْتَدُّوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَدْبَارِكُمْ فَتَنقَلِبُوا۟ خَٰسِرِينَ

⦿

O my people! Go into the holy land which Allah hath ordained for you. Turn not in flight, for surely ye turn back as losers:

O my people, enter the Holy Land which Allah has ordained for you, and do not turn your backs, or you will become losers.]

⦿

Enter the sacred promised land which God has designated for you. Do not return to disbelief lest you become lost].

O my people! enter the holy land which Allah has prescribed for you and turn not on your backs for then you will turn back losers.

O my people! Enter the holy land which God has assigned for you. Do not turn back, or you will be the losers.]

اور اے قوم اس ارعَ مقدس میں داخل ہوجاؤ جسے اللہ نے تمہارے لئے لکھ دیا ہے اور میدان سے اُلٹے پاؤں نہ پلٹ جاؤ کہ اُلٹے خسارہ والوں میں سے ہوجاؤ گے

اے برادران قوم! اس مقدس سرزمین میں داخل ہو جاؤ جو اللہ نے تمہارے لیے لکھ دی ہے، پیچھے نہ ہٹو ورنہ ناکام و نامراد پلٹو گے——

⦿

اے قوم اس پاک زمین میں داخل ہو جو اللہ نے تمہارے لیے لکھی ہے اور پیچھے نہ پلٹو کہ نقصان پر پلٹو گے،

اے میری قوم! اس مقدس زمین میں داخل ہو جاؤ جو اللہ نے تمہارے لئے لکھ دی ہے اور (مقابلہ کے وقت) پیٹھ دکھا کر نہ بھاگنا۔ ورنہ نقصان اٹھا کر لوٹو گے۔

وَإِنَّا

نَّدْخُلَهَا

يَخْرُجُوا۟

مِنْهَا

[untranslated]

فَإِن

[untranslated]

يَخْرُجُوا۟

مِنْهَا

[untranslated]

فَإِنَّا

[untranslated]

دَٰخِلُونَ

[untranslated]

٢٢

قَالُوا۟ يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّ فِيهَا قَوْمًۭا جَبَّارِينَ وَإِنَّا لَن نَّدْخُلَهَا حَتَّىٰ يَخْرُجُوا۟ مِنْهَا فَإِن يَخْرُجُوا۟ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّا دَٰخِلُونَ

⦿

They said: O Moses! Lo! a giant people (dwell) therein and lo! we go not in till they go forth from thence. When they go forth from thence, then we will enter (not till then).

⦿

They said, [O Moses, there are a tyrannical people in it. We will not enter it until they leave it. But once they leave it, we will go in.]

⦿

They said, [Moses, a giant race of people is living there. We shall never go there unless they leave the land first. If they leave it then we will enter.]

⦿

They said: O Musa! surely there is a strong race in it, and we will on no account enter it until they go out from it, so if they go out from it, then surely we will enter.

⦿

They said, [Moses, in that land there is a powerful people. Never shall we enter it until they leave it: if they leave, then we shall certainly enter it.]

ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ موسٰی علیھ السّلام وہاں تو جابروں کی قوم آباد ہے اور ہم اس وقت تک داخل نہ ہوں گے جب تک وہ وہاں سے نکل نہ جائیں پھر اگر وہ نکل گئے تو ہم یقینا داخل ہوجائیں گے

انہوں نے جواب دیا ——اے موسیٰؑ! وہاں تو بڑے زبردست لوگ رہتے ہیں، ہم وہاں ہرگز نہ جائیں گے جب تک وہ وہاں سے نکل نہ جائیں ہاں اگر وہ نکل گئے تو ہم داخل ہونے کے لیے تیار ہیں——

بولے اے موسیٰ اس میں تو بڑے زبردست لوگ ہیں، اور ہم اس میں ہرگز داخل نہ ہوں گے جب تک وہ وہاں سے نکل نہ جائیں ہاں وہ وہاں سے نکل جائیں تو ہم وہاں جائیں،

انہوں نے (جواب میں) کہا: اے موسیٰ اس زمین میں تو بڑے زبردست (جابر) لوگ رہتے ہیں اور ہم وہاں ہرگز داخل نہیں ہوں گے جب تک وہ وہاں سے نکل نہ جائیں۔ ہاں البتہ اگر وہ وہاں سے نکل جائیں تو پھر ہم ضرور داخل ہو جائیں گے۔

٢٣

قَالَ رَجُلَانِ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ أَنْعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمَا ٱدْخُلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْبَابَ فَإِذَا دَخَلْتُمُوهُ فَإِنَّكُمْ غَٰلِبُونَ ۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَتَوَكَّلُوٓا۟ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Then out spake two of those who feared (their Lord, men) unto whom Allah had been gracious: Enter in upon them by the gate, for if ye enter by it, lo! ye will be victorious. So put your trust (in Allah) if ye are indeed believers.

Said two men from among those who were Godfearing and whom Allah had blessed: [Go at them by the gate! For once, you have entered it, you will be victors. Put your trust in Allah, should you be faithful.]

Two God-fearing men on whom God had bestowed favors told them, [Proceed through the gates and when you enter the city you will be victorious. Have trust in God if you are true believers].

Two men of those who feared, upon both of whom Allah had bestowed a favor, said: Enter upon them by the gate, for when you have entered it you shall surely be victorious, and on Allah should you rely if you are believers.

Thereupon two God-fearing men whom God had blessed said, [Go into them through the gate -- for as soon as you enter, you shall surely be victorious! Put your trust in God if you are true believers.]

مگر دو انسان جنہیں خدا کا خوف تھا اور ان پر خدا نے فضل و کرم کیا تھا انہوں نے کہا کہ ان کے دروازے سے داخل ہوجاؤ -اگر تم دروازے میں داخل ہوگئے تو یقینا غالب آجاؤ گے اور اللہ پر بھروسہ کرو اگر تم صاحبانِ ایمان ہو

اُن ڈرنے والوں میں دو شخص ایسے بھی تھے جن کو اللہ نے اپنی نعمت سے نوازا تھا اُنہوں نے کہا کہ ——ان جباروں کے مقابلہ میں دروازے کے اندر گھس جاؤ، جب تم اندر پہنچ جاؤ گے تو تم ہی غالب رہو گے اللہ پر بھروسہ رکھو اگر تم مومن ہو——

دو مرد کہ اللہ سے ڈرنے والوں میں سے تھے ا لله نے انہیں نوازا بولے کہ زبردستی دروازے میں ان پر داخل ہو اگر تم دروازے میں داخل ہوگئے تو تمہارا ہی غلبہ ہے اور اللہ ہی پر بھروسہ کرو اگر تمہیں ایمان ہے،

اس وقت دو شخصوں نے جو (اللہ سے) ڈرنے والوں میں سے تھے۔ جنہیں اللہ نے (خصوصی) نعمت سے نوازا تھا۔ کہا۔ کہ تم ان (جباروں) پر چڑھائی کرکے دروازہ کے اندر گھس جاؤ اور جب تم اس کے اندر داخل ہوگے (تو وہ بھاگ کھڑے ہوں گے اور) تم غالب آجاؤگے اور اللہ پر بھروسہ کرو اگر تم ایمان دار ہو۔

قَالُوا۟ يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَن نَّدْخُلَهَآ أَبَدًۭا مَّا دَامُوا۟ فِيهَا ۖ فَٱذْهَبْ أَنتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَٰتِلَآ إِنَّا هَٰهُنَا قَٰعِدُونَ

They said: O Moses! We will never enter (the land) while they are in it. So go thou and thy Lord and fight! We will sit here.

They said, [O Moses, we will never enter it so long as they remain in it. Go ahead, you and your Lord, and fight! We will be sitting right here.]

They said, [(Moses), as long as they are in the land, we shall never go there. Go with your Lord to fight them but we shall stay where we are].

They said: O Musa! we shall never enter it so long as they are in it; go therefore you and your Lord, then fight you both surely we will here sit down.

They said, [We will never enter it, Moses, as long as they are there. Go, you and your Lord, and fight, and we will stay here.]

ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ موسٰی علیھ السّلام ہم ہرگز وہاں داخل نہ ہوں گے جب تک وہ لوگ وہاں ہیں -آپ اپنے پروردگار کے ساتھ جاکر جنگ کیجئے ہم یہاں بیٹھے ہوئے ہیں

لیکن اُنہوں نے پھر یہی کہا کہ ——اے موسیٰؑ! ہم تو وہاں کبھی نہ جائیں گے جب تک وہ وہاں موجود ہیں بس تم اور تمہارا رب، دونوں جاؤ اور لڑو، ہم یہاں بیٹھے ہیں——

بولے اے موسیٰ ہم تو وہاں کبھی نہ جائیں گے جب تک وہ وہاں ہیں تو آپ جائیے اور آپ کا رب تم دونوں لڑو ہم یہاں بیٹھے ہیں،

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى لَآ أَمْلِكُ إِلَّا نَفْسِى وَأَخِى ۖ فَٱفْرُقْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ

He said: My Lord! I have control of none but myself and my brother, so distinguish between us and the wrong-doing folk.

He said, [My Lord! I have no power over [anyone] except myself and my brother, so part us from the transgressing lot.]

(Moses) said, [Lord, I can only speak for myself and my brother; keep us away from the evil-doers].

He said: My Lord! Surely I have no control (upon any) but my own self and my brother; therefore make a separation between us and the nation of transgressors.

Moses supplicated, [Lord, I have power over none but myself and my brother; so separate us from the disobedient people.]

موسٰی علیھ السّلامنے کہا پروردگار میں صرف اپنی ذات اور اپنے بھائی کا اختیار رکھتا ہوں لہذا ہمارے اور اس فاسق قوم کے درمیان جدائی پیدا کردے

اس پر موسیٰؑ نے کہا ——اے میرے رب، میرے اختیار میں کوئی نہیں مگر یا میری اپنی ذات یا میرا بھائی، پس تو ہمیں اِن نافرمان لوگوں سے الگ کر دے——

موسیٰ نے عرض کی کہ اے رب! میرے مجھے اختیار نہیں مگر اپنا اور اپنے بھائی کا تو تو ہم کو ان بے حکموں سے جدا رکھ

قَالَ فَإِنَّهَا مُحَرَّمَةٌ عَلَيْهِمْ ۛ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةًۭ ۛ يَتِيهُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ

(Their Lord) said: For this the land will surely be forbidden them for forty years that they will wander in the earth, bewildered. So grieve not over the wrongdoing folk.

He said, [It shall be forbidden them for forty years: they shall wander about in the earth. So do not grieve for the transgressing lot.]

The Lord said, [The land will be prohibited to them for forty years (during all such time) they will wander in the land. Do not feel sad for the evil-doing people.]

He said: So it shall surely be forbidden to them for forty years, they shall wander about in the land, therefore do not grieve for the nation of transgressors.

God said, [The land is forbidden to them for forty years, while they wander around the earth, bewildered; do not grieve over these wicked people.]

ارشاد ہوا کہ اب ان پر چالیس سال حرام کردئیے گئے کہ یہ زمین میں چکرّ لگاتے رہیں گے لہذا تم اس فاسق قوم پر افسوس نہ کرو

اللہ نے جواب دیا ——اچھا تو وہ ملک چالیس سال تک اِن پر حرام ہے، یہ زمین میں مارے مارے پھریں گے، اِن نافرمانوں کی حالت پر ہرگز ترس نہ کھاؤ——

فرمایا تو وہ زمین ان پر حرام ہے چالیس برس تک بھٹکتے پھریں زمین میں تو تم ان بے حکموں کا افسوس نہ کھاؤ،

ﷲ نے فرمایا! پھر اب وہ (زمین) چالیس سال تک حرام ہے وہ لق و دق صحراء میں سرگردان پھرتے رہیں گے پس آپ اس نافرمان قوم پر افسوس نہ کریں۔

The Table [ 5:27 ] المائدة

وَٱتْلُ

And recite

عَلَيْهِمْ

upon them

نَبَأَ

story of

ٱبْنَىْ

sons of

ءَادَمَ

Adam

بِٱلْحَقِّ

with the fact,

إِذْ

when

قَرَّبَا

they sacrificed

قُرْبَانًۭا

for Our closeness,

فَتُقُبِّلَ

thus was accepted

مِنْ

from

أَحَدِهِمَا

one of them two,

وَلَمْ

and not

يُتَقَبَّلْ

was accepted

مِنَ

from

ٱلْـَٔاخَرِ

the other

قَالَ

(who) said,

لَأَقْتُلَنَّكَ

[For sure I will kill you].

قَالَ

(The first) said,

إِنَّمَا

[Indeed it is that

يَتَقَبَّلُ

acceptable to

ٱللَّهُ

the One is

مِنَ

(that which is) from

ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

the aware ones.

٢٧

وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ ٱبْنَىْ ءَادَمَ بِٱلْحَقِّ إِذْ قَرَّبَا قُرْبَانًۭا فَتُقُبِّلَ مِنْ أَحَدِهِمَا وَلَمْ يُتَقَبَّلْ مِنَ ٱلْـَٔاخَرِ قَالَ لَأَقْتُلَنَّكَ ۖ قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَتَقَبَّلُ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

And recite upon them story of sons of Adam with the fact, when they sacrificed for Our closeness, thus was accepted from one of them two, and not was accepted from the other (who) said, [For sure I will kill you]. (The first) said, [Indeed it is that acceptable to the One is (that which is) from the aware ones.

But recite unto them with truth the tale of the two sons of Adam, how they offered each a sacrifice, and it was accepted from the one of them and it was not accepted from the other. (The one) said: I will surely kill thee. (The other) answered: Allah accepteth only from those who ward off (evil).

Relate to them truly the account of Adam]s two sons. When the two of them offered an offering, it was accepted from one of them and not accepted from the other. [One of them] said, [Surely I will kill you.] [The other one] said, [Allah accepts only from the Godwary.

(Muhammad) tell them the true story of the two sons of Adam (Abel and Cain). Each one of them offered a sacrifice. God accepted the sacrifice of one of them (Abel) but not that of the other (Cain) who then said to his brother, [I shall certainly kill you.] (Abel) replied, [God only accepts the offerings of the pious ones.

And relate to them the story of the two sons of Adam with truth when they both offered an offering, but it was accepted from one of them and was not accepted from the other. He said: I will most certainly slay you. (The other) said: Allah only accepts from those who guard (against evil).

Relate to them, the true story of the two sons of Adam. When they both presented an offering, it was accepted from one of them and not from the other. The latter said, [I shall kill you!] The former said, [God accepts [things] only from the righteous.

اور پیغمبر علیھ السّلامآپ ان کو آدم علیھ السّلامکے دونوں فرزندوں کا سچا ّقصّہ پڑھ کر سنائیے کہ جب دونوں نے قربانی دی اور ایک کی قربانی قبول ہوگئی اور دوسرے کی نہ ہوئی تو اس نے کہا کہ میں تجھے قتل کردوں گا تو دوسرے نے جواب دیا کہ میرا کیا قصور ہے خدا صرف صاحبان ه تقوٰی کے اعمال کو قبول کرتا ہے

اور ذرا انہیں آدمؑ کے دو بیٹوں کا قصہ بھی بے کم و کاست سنا دو جب اُن دونوں نے قربانی کی تو ان میں سے ایک کی قربانی قبول کی گئی اور دوسرے کی نہ کی گئی اُس نے کہا ——میں تجھے مار ڈالوں گا—— اس نے جواب دیا ——اللہ تو متقیوں ہی کی نذریں قبول کرتا ہے

اور انہیں پڑھ کر سناؤ آدم کے دو بیٹوں کی سچی خبر جب دونوں نے ایک ایک نیاز پیش کی تو ایک کی قبول ہوئی اور دوسرے کی نہ قبول ہوئی بولا قسم ہے میں تجھے قتل کردوں گا کہا اللہ اسی سے قبول کرتا ہے، سے ڈر ہے

(اے رسول(ص)) آپ انہیں آدم کے دونوں بیٹوں کا سچا قصہ پڑھ کر سنائیے۔ جب کہ ان دونوں نے قربانی پیش کی تو ایک کی تو قبول ہوگئی اور دوسرے کی قبول نہ ہوئی۔ اس (دوسرے) نے کہا میں تمہیں ضرور قتل کروں گا۔ پہلے نے کہا اللہ تو صرف متقیوں (پرہیزگاروں) کا عمل قبول کرتا ہے۔

بَسَطتَ

is extended

towards me

يَدَكَ

your hand

لِتَقْتُلَنِى

to murder me,

مَآ

not will

أَنَا۠

بِبَاسِطٍۢ

be extending

يَدِىَ

my hand

إِلَيْكَ

towards you

لِأَقْتُلَكَ

to murder you.

إِنِّىٓ

I am

أَخَافُ

afraid of

ٱللَّهَ

the One,

رَبَّ

Rabb of

ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

all the states of being.]

٢٨

لَئِنۢ بَسَطتَ إِلَىَّ يَدَكَ لِتَقْتُلَنِى مَآ أَنَا۠ بِبَاسِطٍۢ يَدِىَ إِلَيْكَ لِأَقْتُلَكَ ۖ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

So if is extended towards me your hand to murder me, not will I be extending my hand towards you to murder you. I am afraid of the One, Rabb of all the states of being.]

Even if thou stretch out thy hand against me to kill me, I shall not stretch out my hand against thee to kill thee, lo! I fear Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.

Even if you extend your hand toward me to kill me, I will not extend my hand toward you to kill you. Indeed, I fear Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.

Even if you try to kill me, I certainly shall not try to kill you. I have fear of God, the Lord of the creation.

If you will stretch forth your hand towards me to slay me, I am not one to stretch forth my hand towards you to slay you surely I fear Allah, the Lord of the worlds:

اگر آپ میری طرف قتل کے لئے ہاتھ بڑھائیں گے بھی تو میں آپ کی طرف ہرگز ہاتھ نہ بڑھاؤں گا کہ میں عالمین کے پالنے والے خدا سے ڈرتا ہوں

اگر تو مجھے قتل کرنے کے لیے ہاتھ اٹھائے گا تو میں تجھے قتل کرنے کے لیے ہاتھ نہ اٹھاؤں گا، میں اللہ رب العالمین سے ڈرتا ہوں

بیشک اگر تو اپنا ہاتھ مجھ پر بڑھائے گا کہ مجھے قتل کرے تو میں اپنا ہاتھ تجھ پر نہ بڑھاؤں گا کہ تجھے قتل کروں میں اللہ سے ڈرتا ہوں جو مالک ہے سارے جہاں کا،

اگر تو مجھے قتل کرنے کے لئے ہاتھ بڑھائے گا۔ تو میں تمہیں قتل کرنے کے لئے ہاتھ نہیں بڑھاؤں گا۔ (کیونکہ) میں تو ڈرتا ہوں اس اللہ سے، جو تمام جہانوں کا پروردگار ہے۔

This website is a work of passion. It exists only for a couple of reasons:

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.

Because the process must be transparent, the entire website is available for you to download. You can go through the code, and if you can make any improvements to this process, you are most welcome to. It is a humble request to update me regarding the improvements so I can also update myself.

Due Credits:

This website was possible by help of many people and forums who helped me to learn Arabic, Philosophy, Law, Psychology, and PHP and other Web scripts. To be honest, I do not even know the names of many but I did learn from them. Some of these people were already dead by the time I read their input.

The Arabic text of the Quran was obtained from Tanzil. The additional translations were also obtained from Tanzil from this link.
