وَإِذَا
And whenever
قِيلَ
was said
لَهُمْ
to them,
تَعَالَوْا۟
[Come up here
إِلَىٰ
towards
مَآ
what
أَنزَلَ
had descended
ٱللَّهُ
the One,
وَإِلَى
and towards
ٱلرَّسُولِ
the messenger],
قَالُوا۟
they said,
حَسْبُنَا
[We pursue
مَا
what
وَجَدْنَا
we found
عَلَيْهِ
upon it
ءَابَآءَنَآ
our elders.]
ۚ
أَوَلَوْ
Even if
كَانَ
had been
ءَابَآؤُهُمْ
their forefathers
لَا
not
يَعْلَمُونَ
of knowing
شَيْـًۭٔا
a thing,
وَلَا
and not
يَهْتَدُونَ
they were guided?
٥
١٠٤
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ قَالُوا۟ حَسْبُنَا مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَنَآ ۚ أَوَلَوْ كَانَ ءَابَآؤُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ شَيْـًۭٔا وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَ And whenever was said to them, [Come up here towards what had descended the One, and towards the messenger], they said, [We pursue what we found upon it our elders.] Even if had been their forefathers not of knowing a thing, and not they were guided?

And when it is said unto them: Come unto that which Allah hath revealed and unto the messenger, they say: Enough for us is that wherein we found our fathers. What! Even though their fathers had no knowledge whatsoever, and no guidance? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

When they are told, [Come to what Allah has sent down and [come] to the Apostle,] they say, [Sufficient for us is what we have found our fathers following.] What, even if their fathers did not know anything and were not guided?! - Qarai, Ali Quli

When they are told to refer to the guidance of God and to the Messenger, they say, [The tradition of our fathers is sufficient for our guidance,] even though, in fact, their fathers had neither knowledge nor proper guidance. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And when it is said to them, Come to what Allah has revealed and to the Apostle, they say: That on which we found our fathers is sufficient for us. What! even though their fathers knew nothing and did not follow the right way. - Shakir, Habib

when it is said to them, [Come to what God has sent down and to the Messenger.] They reply, [The faith we have inherited from our fathers is sufficient for us.] Even though their forefathers knew nothing and were not guided! - Wahiduddin Khan

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ خد اکے نازل کئے ہوئے احکام اور اس کے رسول کی طرف آؤ تو کہتے ہیں کہ ہمارے لئے وہی کافی ہے جس پر ہم نے اپنے آباؤ و اجداد کو پایا ہے چاہے ان کے آباؤ و اجداد نہ کچھ سمجھتے ہوں اور نہ کسی طرح کی ہدایت کرتے ہوں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ آؤ اُس قانون کی طرف جو اللہ نے نازل کیا ہے اور آؤ پیغمبرؐ کی طرف تو وہ جواب دیتے ہیں کہ ہمارے لیے تو بس وہی طریقہ کافی ہے جس پر ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو پایا ہے کیا یہ باپ دادا ہی کی تقلید کیے چلے جائیں گے خواہ وہ کچھ نہ جانتے ہوں اور صحیح راستہ کی انہیں خبر ہی نہ ہو؟ - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جب ان سے کہا جائے آؤ اس طرف جو اللہ نے اُتارا اور رسول کی طرف کہیں ہمیں وہ بہت ہے جس پر ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو پایا، کیا اگرچہ ان کے باپ دادا نہ کچھ جانیں نہ راہ پر ہوں - Ahmed Raza

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ آؤ اس (قرآن) کی طرف جو اللہ نے اتارا ہے اور آؤ پیغمبر(ص) کی طرف تو وہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہمارے لئے تو وہی (طریقہ) کافی ہے جس پر ہم نے اپنے آباء و اجداد کو پایا ہے اگرچہ ان کے باپ دادا نہ علم رکھتے ہوں اور نہ ہدایت یافتہ ہوں (تو بھی وہ انہی کے طریقہ کو کافی جانیں گے؟) - Najafi, Muhammad

عَلَيْكُمْ
Upon yourself is
أَنفُسَكُمْ
your ownself (you are responsible for yourself);
ۖ
لَا
not
يَضُرُّكُم
can harm you
مَّن
who
ضَلَّ
has astrayed
إِذَا
when
ٱهْتَدَيْتُمْ
you are guided;
ۚ
إِلَى
towards
ٱللَّهِ
the One
مَرْجِعُكُمْ
you will return
جَمِيعًۭا
collectively
فَيُنَبِّئُكُم
then He will inform you all
بِمَا
with what
كُنتُمْ
you were
تَعْمَلُونَ
doing.
٥
١٠٥
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۖ لَا يَضُرُّكُم مَّن ضَلَّ إِذَا ٱهْتَدَيْتُمْ ۚ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيعًۭا فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ O you of the ones of trust! Upon yourself is your ownself (you are responsible for yourself); not can harm you who has astrayed when you are guided; towards the One you will return collectively then He will inform you all with what you were doing.

O ye who believe! Ye have charge of your own souls. He who erreth cannot injure you if ye are rightly guided. Unto Allah ye will all return; and then He will inform you of what ye used to do. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

O you who have faith! Take care of your own souls. He who strays cannot hurt you if you are guided. To Allah will be the return of you all, whereat He will inform you concerning what you used to do. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Believers, save your own souls, for if you have the right guidance, no one who strays can harm you. You will all return to God who will tell you about what you have done. - Sarwar, Muhammad

O you who believe! take care of your souls; he who errs cannot hurt you when you are on the right way; to Allah is your return, of all (of you), so He will inform you of what you did. - Shakir, Habib

Believers, take care of your own souls. The misguided cannot harm you as long as you are guided. All of you will return to God. Then He will make you realize that which you used to do. - Wahiduddin Khan

اے لوگو جو ایمان لائے ہو، اپنی فکر کرو، کسی دوسرے کی گمراہی سے تمہارا کچھ نہیں بگڑتا اگر تم خود راہ راست پر ہو، اللہ کی طرف تم سب کو پلٹ کر جانا ہے، پھر وہ تمہیں بتا دے گا کہ تم کیا کرتے رہے ہو - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اے ایمان والو! تم اپنی فکر رکھو تمہارا کچھ نہ بگاڑے گا جو گمراہ ہوا جب کہ تم راہ پر ہو تم سب کی رجوع اللہ ہی کی طرف ہے پھر وہ تمہیں بتا دے گا جو تم کرتے تھے، - Ahmed Raza

اے ایمان والو! تم پر لازم ہے کہ اپنی جانوں کی فکر کرو۔ جو گمراہ ہے وہ تمہارا کچھ بھی نہیں بگاڑ سکتا جب کہ تم ہدایت یافتہ ہو (راہِ راست پر ہو) تم سب کی بازگشت اللہ ہی کی طرف ہے پھر وہ تمہیں بتائے گا کہ تم دنیا میں کیا کرتے تھے؟ ۔ - Najafi, Muhammad
