قَٰلَ
Say,
أَوَلَوْ
[Even if
جِئْتُكُم
I come to you
بِأَهْدَىٰ
with better guidance
مِمَّا
then that
وَجَدتُّمْ
you found
عَلَيْهِ
upon which
ءَابَآءَكُمْ
your forefathers?]
ۖ
قَالُوٓا۟
They say,
إِنَّا
[Certainly we
بِمَآ
with what
أُرْسِلْتُم
you have been sent with
بِهِۦ
regarding it
كَٰفِرُونَ
are deniers.]
٤٣
٢٤
قَٰلَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكُم بِأَهْدَىٰ مِمَّا وَجَدتُّمْ عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَكُمْ ۖ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا بِمَآ أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِۦ كَٰفِرُونَ Say, [Even if I come to you with better guidance then that you found upon which your forefathers?] They say, [Certainly we with what you have been sent with regarding it are deniers.]

(And the warner) said: What! Even though I bring you better guidance than that ye found your fathers following? They answered: Lo! in what ye bring we are disbelievers. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

He would say, [What! Even if I bring you a better guidance than what you found your fathers following?!] They would say, [We indeed disbelieve in what you are sent with.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

The Messengers would say, [Would you still follow in the footsteps of your fathers even if I was to bring you better guidance?] They would say, [We have no faith in your message]. - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
(The warner) said: What! even if I bring to you a better guide than that on which you found your fathers? They said: Surely we are unbelievers in that with which you are sent. - Shakir, Habib
⦿
Each messenger said, [What if I should bring you better guidance than what you found your forefathers had?] They replied, [We reject any message you have been sent with!] - Wahiduddin Khan

تو پیغمبر نے کہا کہ چاہے میں اس سے بہتر پیغام لے آؤں جس پر تم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو پایا ہے تو انہوں نے جواب دیا کہ ہم تمہارے پیغام کے ماننے والے نہیں ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

ہر نبی نے ان سے پوچھا، کیا تم اُسی ڈگر پر چلے جاؤ گے خواہ میں اُس راستے سے زیادہ صحیح راستہ تمہیں بتاؤں جس پر تم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو پایا ہے؟ انہوں نے سارے رسولوں کو یہی جواب دیا کہ جس دین کی طرف بلانے کے لیے تم بھیجے گئے ہو ہم اُس کے کافر ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

نبی نے فرمایا اور کیا جب بھی کہ میں تمہارے پاس وہ لاؤں جو سیدھی راہ ہو اس سے جس پر تمہارے باپ دادا تھے بولے جو کچھ تم لے کر بھیجے گئے ہم اسے نہیں مانتے - Ahmed Raza

اس (نذیر) نے کہا گرچہ میں تمہارے پاس اس سے زیادہ ہدایت بخش طریقہلے کرایا ہوں جس پر تم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو پایا ہے؟ ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ تم جس(دین) کے ساتھ بھیجے گئے ہو ہم اس کے منکر ہیں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

فَٱنتَقَمْنَا
Thus We take revenge
مِنْهُمْ
from them;
ۖ
فَٱنظُرْ
thus see
كَيْفَ
how
كَانَ
was
عَٰقِبَةُ
the end of
ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
the liars.
Thus We take revenge from them; thus see how was the end of the liars.
⦿
So We requited them. Then see the nature of the consequence for the rejecters! - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Thereupon We took vengeance on them; so observe how was the fate of the deniers. - Qarai, Ali Quli

We took revenge on them. See how terrible the end of those who rejected (Or revelations) was! - Sarwar, Muhammad

So We inflicted retribution on them, then see how was the end of the rejecters. - Shakir, Habib
⦿
So We wreaked Our vengeance on them: now see what was the end of those who rejected [the Truth]! - Wahiduddin Khan
⦿
پھر ہم نے ان سے بدلہ لے لیا تو اب دیکھو کہ تکذیب کرنے والوں کا کیا انجام ہوا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

آخر کار ہم نے اُن کی خبر لے ڈالی اور دیکھ لو کہ جھٹلانے والوں کا کیا انجام ہوا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

تو ہم نے ان سے بدلہ لیا تو دیکھو جھٹلانے والوں کا کیسا انجام ہوا، - Ahmed Raza

سو ہم نے ان سے انتقام لیا تو دیکھو کہ جھٹلا نے والوں کا کیا انجام ہوا؟ - Najafi, Muhammad

وَإِذْ
And (recall) when
قَالَ
said
إِبْرَٰهِيمُ
Ibrahim
لِأَبِيهِ
for his father
وَقَوْمِهِۦٓ
and his nation,
إِنَّنِى
[Surely I am
بَرَآءٌۭ
free
مِّمَّا
from what
تَعْبُدُونَ
you obey.]
And (recall) when said Ibrahim for his father and his nation, [Surely I am free from what you obey.]
⦿
And when Abraham said unto his father and his folk: Lo! I am innocent of what ye worship - Pickthall, Marmaduke
⦿
When Abraham said to his father and his people, [I repudiate what you worship, - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
When Abraham said to his father and his people, [I boldly renounce what you worship - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
And when Ibrahim said to his father and his people: Surely I am clear of what you worship, - Shakir, Habib
⦿
Call to mind when Abraham said to his father and his people, [I disown utterly that which you worship. - Wahiduddin Khan
⦿
اور جب ابراہیم نے اپنے (مربی) باپ اور اپنی قوم سے کہا کہ میں تمہارے تمام معبودوں سے بری اور بیزار ہوں - Jawadi, Zeeshan
⦿
یاد کرو وہ وقت جب ابراہیمؑ نے اپنے باپ اور اپنی قوم سے کہا تھا کہ ——تم جن کی بندگی کرتے ہو میرا اُن سے کوئی تعق نہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جب ابراہیم نے اپنے باپ اور اپنی قوم سے فرمایا میں بیزار ہوں تمہارے معبودو ں سے، - Ahmed Raza
⦿
اور وہ وقت یاد کرو جب ابراہیم(ع) نے اپنے باپ (تایا) اور اپنی قوم سے کہا میں ان سے بیزار ہوں جن کی تم عبادت کرتے ہو۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

إِلَّا
[Except
ٱلَّذِى
the Entity
فَطَرَنِى
who engineered me,
فَإِنَّهُۥ
thus He is who
سَيَهْدِينِ
will guide.]
[Except the Entity who engineered me, thus He is who will guide.]

Save Him Who did create me, for He will surely guide me. - Pickthall, Marmaduke
⦿
excepting Him who originated me; indeed He will guide me.] - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
except for the One who has created me and will guide me]. - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
Save Him Who created me, for surely He will guide me. - Shakir, Habib

[I worship] only Him who created me, and He will certainly guide me,] - Wahiduddin Khan

علاوہ اس معبود کے کہ جس نے مجھے پیدا کیا ہے کہ وہی عنقریب مجھے ہدایت دینے والا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

میرا تعلق صرف اُس سے ہے جس نے مجھے پیدا کیا، وہی میری رہنمائی کرے گا—— - Maududi, Abul A'ala
⦿
سوا اس کے جس نے مجھے پیدا کیا کہ ضرور وہ بہت جلد مجھے راہ دے گا، - Ahmed Raza
⦿
مگر وہ جس نے مجھے پیدا کیا اور وہی میری راہنمائی کرے گا (میں صرف اسی کی عبادت کرتا ہوں)۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

وَجَعَلَهَا
And He made it
كَلِمَةًۢ
a declaration
بَاقِيَةًۭ
that is lasting
فِى
in
عَقِبِهِۦ
his succession
لَعَلَّهُمْ
so that they may
يَرْجِعُونَ
they return.
And He made it a declaration that is lasting in his succession so that they may they return.
⦿
And he made it a word enduring among his seed, that haply they might return. - Pickthall, Marmaduke
⦿
He made it a lasting word among his posterity so that they may come back [to the right path]. - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
God made (belief in one God) an everlasting task for his successors, so that perhaps they would return (to Him). - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
And he made it a word to continue in his posterity that they may return. - Shakir, Habib
⦿
and he left these words to endure among his descendants, so that they might return [to God]. - Wahiduddin Khan
⦿
اور انہوں نے اس پیغام کو اپنی نسل میں ایک کلمہ باقیہ قرار دے دیا کہ شاید وہ لوگ خدا کی طرف پلٹ آئیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan
⦿
اور ابراہیمؑ یہی کلمہ اپنے پیچھے اپنی اولاد میں چھوڑ گیا تاکہ وہ اِس کی طرف رجوع کریں - Maududi, Abul A'ala
⦿
اور اسے اپنی نسل میں باقی کلام رکھا کہ کہیں وہ باز آئیں - Ahmed Raza
⦿
اور وہ (ابراہیم(ع)) اسی (عقیدۂ توحید) کو اپنی اولاد میں باقی رہنے والا کلمہ قرار دے گئے تاکہ وہ اس کی طرف رجوع کریں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

بَلْ
On the contrary,
مَتَّعْتُ
provided amenities to
هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
these
وَءَابَآءَهُمْ
and their forefathers
حَتَّىٰ
until
جَآءَهُمُ
came to them
ٱلْحَقُّ
the fact
وَرَسُولٌۭ
and a messenger
مُّبِينٌۭ
who has clarity.
On the contrary, provided amenities to these and their forefathers until came to them the fact and a messenger who has clarity.
⦿
Nay, but I let these and their fathers enjoy life (only) till there should come unto them the Truth and a messenger making plain. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Indeed, I provided for these and their fathers until the truth and a manifest apostle came to them. - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
In fact, We allowed them and their fathers to enjoy themselves until the truth and a strong Messenger came to them. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Nay! I gave them and their fathers to enjoy until there came to them the truth and an Apostle making manifest (the truth). - Shakir, Habib
⦿
Yes, I gave the good things of this life to these [men] and their fathers, until the truth came to them, and a messenger expounding things clearly, - Wahiduddin Khan

بلکہ ہم نے ان لوگوں کو اور ان کے بزرگوں کو برابر آرام دیا یہاں تک کہ ان کے پاس حق اور واضح رسول آگیا - Jawadi, Zeeshan
⦿
(اس کے باوجود جب یہ لوگ دوسروں کی بندگی کرنے لگے تو میں نے ان کو مٹا نہیں دیا) بلکہ میں اِنہیں اور اِن کے باپ دادا کو متاع حیات دیتا رہا یہاں تک کہ اِن کے پاس حق، اور کھول کھول کر بیان کرنے والا رسول آگیا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

بلکہ میں نے انہیں اور ان کے باپ دادا کو دنیا کے فائدے دیے یہاں تک کہ ان کے پاس حق اور صاف بتانے والا رسول تشریف لایا - Ahmed Raza

اور (باوجود ان کی خلاف ورزی کرنے کے) میں ان کو اور ان کے باپ دادا کو دنیا کے ساز و سامان سے بہرہ مندہ کرتا رہا یہاں تک کہ انکے پاس حق اور کھول کر بیان کرنے والا رسول آگیا۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

بل | no | rather | contrary | notify | but
وَلَمَّا
And whenever
جَآءَهُمُ
came to them
ٱلْحَقُّ
the fact
قَالُوا۟
they said,
هَٰذَا
[This is
سِحْرٌۭ
an illusion,
وَإِنَّا
and we
بِهِۦ
about it
كَٰفِرُونَ
are deniers.]
And whenever came to them the fact they said, [This is an illusion, and we about it are deniers.]
⦿
And now that the Truth hath come unto them they say: This is mere magic, and lo! we are disbelievers therein. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

But when the truth came to them, they said, [This is magic, and we indeed disbelieve in it.] - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
When the truth came to them, they said, [This is magic and we have no faith in it]. - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
And when there came to them the truth they said: This is magic, and surely we are disbelievers in it. - Shakir, Habib
⦿
but when the truth came to them, they said, [This is sorcery, and we reject it.] - Wahiduddin Khan
⦿
اور جب حق آگیا تو کہنے لگے کہ یہ تو جادو ہے اور ہم اس کے منکر ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan
⦿
مگر جب وہ حق اِن کے پاس آیا تو اِنہوں نے کہہ دیا کہ یہ تو جادو ہے اور ہم اس کو ماننے سے انکار کرتے ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala
⦿
اور جب ان کے پاس حق آیا بولے یہ جادو ہے اور ہم اس کے منکر ہیں، - Ahmed Raza
⦿
اور جب ان کے پاس حق آگیا تو انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ تو جادو ہے اور ہم اس کے منکر ہیں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

وَقَالُوا۟
And they said,
لَوْلَا
[Howcome not
نُزِّلَ
decended
هَٰذَا
this
ٱلْقُرْءَانُ
Proclamation
عَلَىٰ
upon
رَجُلٍۢ
men
مِّنَ
from
ٱلْقَرْيَتَيْنِ
the two cities of
عَظِيمٍ
grandeur?]
And they said, [Howcome not decended this Proclamation upon men from the two cities of grandeur?]
⦿
And they say: If only this Qur'an had been revealed to some great man of the two towns? - Pickthall, Marmaduke
⦿
And they said, [Why was not this Quran sent down to some great man from the two cities?] - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
Then they said, [Why this Quran had not been revealed to a man from either of the two great towns]. - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
And they say: Why was not this Quran revealed to a man of importance in the two towns? - Shakir, Habib
⦿
They said, [Why was this Quran not sent down to one of the great men of the two cities?] - Wahiduddin Khan
⦿
اور یہ کہنے لگے کہ آخر یہ قرآن دونوں بستیوں (مکہ و طائف) کے کسی بڑے آدمی پر کیوں نہیں نازل کیا گیا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan
⦿
کہتے ہیں، یہ قرآن دونوں شہروں کے بڑے آدمیوں میں سے کسی پر کیوں نہ نازل کیا گیا؟ - Maududi, Abul A'ala
⦿
اور بولے کیوں نہ اتارا گیا یہ قرآن ان دو شہروں کے کسی بڑے آدمی پر - Ahmed Raza
⦿
اور وہ کہتے ہیں کہ یہ قرآن دو (مشہور) بستیوں (مکہ و طائف) کے کسی بڑے آدمی پر کیوں نہیں نازل کیا گیا؟ - Najafi, Muhammad

أَهُمْ
Are they
يَقْسِمُونَ
sharing
رَحْمَتَ
blessings of
رَبِّكَ
your Nourisher?
ۚ
نَحْنُ
We are who
قَسَمْنَا
make shares
بَيْنَهُم
between them of
مَّعِيشَتَهُمْ
their economies
فِى
in
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
the life of
ٱلدُّنْيَا
the World;
ۚ
وَرَفَعْنَا
and We raised
بَعْضَهُمْ
some of them
فَوْقَ
above
بَعْضٍۢ
some of
دَرَجَٰتٍۢ
degrees,
لِّيَتَّخِذَ
to make adopt
بَعْضُهُم
some of them
بَعْضًۭا
some others
سُخْرِيًّۭا
for service;
ۗ
وَرَحْمَتُ
and blessing of
رَبِّكَ
your Rabb
خَيْرٌۭ
is better
مِّمَّا
from what
يَجْمَعُونَ
they collect altogether.
٤٣
٣٢
أَهُمْ يَقْسِمُونَ رَحْمَتَ رَبِّكَ ۚ نَحْنُ قَسَمْنَا بَيْنَهُم مَّعِيشَتَهُمْ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ وَرَفَعْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ فَوْقَ بَعْضٍۢ دَرَجَٰتٍۢ لِّيَتَّخِذَ بَعْضُهُم بَعْضًۭا سُخْرِيًّۭا ۗ وَرَحْمَتُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌۭ مِّمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ Are they sharing blessings of your Nourisher? We are who make shares between them of their economies in the life of the World; and We raised some of them above some of degrees, to make adopt some of them some others for service; and blessing of your Rabb is better from what they collect altogether.

Is it they who apportion thy Lord's mercy? We have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of the world, and raised some of them above others in rank that some of them may take labour from others; and the mercy of thy Lord is better than (the wealth) that they amass. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Is it they who dispense the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have dispensed among them their livelihood in the present life, and raised some of them above others in rank, so that some may take others into service, and your Lord]s mercy is better than what they amass. - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
Do they distribute the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have distributed their sustenance in this world and raised the positions of some of them above the others so that they would mock each other. The mercy of your Lord is better than what they can amass. - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
Will they distribute the mercy of your Lord? We distribute among them their livelihood in the life of this world, and We j have exalted some of them above others in degrees, that some of them may take others in subjection; and the mercy of your Lord is better than what they amass. - Shakir, Habib
⦿
Is it they who apportion the mercy of your Lord? It is We who distribute among them their livelihood in the life of this world, and raise some of them above others in rank, so that they may take one another into service; and the mercy of your Lord is better than [the wealth] which they amass. - Wahiduddin Khan

تو کیا یہی لوگ رحمت پروردگار کو تقسیم کررہے ہیں حالانکہ ہم نے ہی ان کے درمیان معیشت کو زندگانی دنیا میں تقسیم کیا ہے اور بعض کو بعض سے اونچا بنایا ہے تاکہ ایک دوسرے سے کام لے سکیں اور رحمت پروردگار ان کے جمع کئے ہوئے مال و متاع سے کہیں زیادہ بہتر ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

کیا تیرے رب کی رحمت یہ لوگ تقسیم کرتے ہیں؟ دنیا کی زندگی میں اِن کی گزر بسر کے ذرائع تو ہم نے اِن کے درمیان تقسیم کیے ہیں، اور اِن میں سے کچھ لوگوں کو کچھ دوسرے لوگوں پر ہم نے بدرجہا فوقیت دی ہے تاکہ یہ ایک دوسرے سے خدمت لیں اور تیرے رب کی رحمت اُس دولت سے زیادہ قیمتی ہے جو (اِن کے رئیس) سمیٹ رہے ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

And were it not that mankind would have become one community, We might well have appointed, for those who disbelieve in the Beneficent, roofs of silver for their houses and stairs (of silver) whereby to mount, - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Were it not [for the danger] that mankind would be one community, We would have made for those who defy the All-beneficent, silver roofs for their houses and [silver] stairways by which they ascend, - Qarai, Ali Quli

Were it not for the fear that all people would become one in disbelief, We would have made for the disbelievers in the Beneficent God ceilings out of silver and ladders by which they would climb up, - Sarwar, Muhammad
