وَجَعَلُوا۟
And they determine
ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ
the malaikati,
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
هُمْ
are
عِبَٰدُ
slaves of
ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ
the Nourisher,
إِنَٰثًا
as feminine.
ۚ
أَشَهِدُوا۟
Did they witness
خَلْقَهُمْ
their creation?
ۚ
سَتُكْتَبُ
Shall be written,
شَهَٰدَتُهُمْ
their witnessing,
وَيُسْـَٔلُونَ
and (about it) they will be questioned.
٤٣
١٩
وَجَعَلُوا۟ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عِبَٰدُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ إِنَٰثًا ۚ أَشَهِدُوا۟ خَلْقَهُمْ ۚ سَتُكْتَبُ شَهَٰدَتُهُمْ وَيُسْـَٔلُونَ And they determine the malaikati, the ones who are slaves of the Nourisher, as feminine. Did they witness their creation? Shall be written, their witnessing, and (about it) they will be questioned.

And they make the angels, who are the slaves of the Beneficent, females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded and they will be questioned. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

They have made the angels—who are servants of the All-beneficent—females. Were they witness to their creation? Their testimony will be written down and they shall be questioned. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Do they say that the angels, who are the servants of the Beneficent God, are females? Have they witnessed their creation? Their words as such will be recorded and they will be questioned for it. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And they make the angels-- them who are the servants of the Beneficent Allah-- female (divinities). What! did they witness their creation? Their evidence shall be written down and they shall be questioned. - Shakir, Habib

اوران لوگوں نے ان ملائکہ کوجو رحمان کے بندے ہیںلڑکی قرار دیدیا ہے کیا یہ ان کی خلقت کے گواہ ہیں تو عنقریب ان کی گواہی لکھ لی جائے گی اور پھر اس کے بارے میں سوال کیا جائے گا - Jawadi, Zeeshan

انہوں نے فرشتوں کو، جو خدائے رحمان کے خاص بندے ہیں، عورتیں قرار دے لیا کیا اُن کے جسم کی ساخت اِنہوں نے دیکھی ہے؟ اِن کی گواہی لکھ لی جائے گی اور انہیں اس کی جوابدہی کرنی ہو گی - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور انہوں نے فرشتوں کو، کہ رحمٰن کے بندے ہیں عورتیں ٹھہرایا کیا ان کے بناتے وقت یہ حاضر تھے اب لکھ لی جائے گی ان کی گواہی اور ان سے جواب طلب ہوگا - Ahmed Raza

اور انہوں نے فرشتوں کو جو خدائے رحمٰن کے خاص بندے ہیں عورتیں قرار دے رکھا ہے کیا وہ ان کی پیدائش (اور جسمانی ساخت) کے وقت موجود تھے ان کی گواہی لکھ لی جائے گی اور ان سے بازپرس کی جائے گی۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

وَقَالُوا۟
And they say,
لَوْ
[If it was that
شَآءَ
willed
ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ
the Rahman,
مَا
not
عَبَدْنَٰهُم
we would serve them.]
ۗ
مَّا
Not
لَهُم
for them
بِذَٰلِكَ
regarding that is
مِنْ
of
عِلْمٍ
knowledge;
ۖ
إِنْ
indeed they
هُمْ
are
إِلَّا
not except
يَخْرُصُونَ
forming conjectures.
٤٣
٢٠
وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْ شَآءَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ مَا عَبَدْنَٰهُم ۗ مَّا لَهُم بِذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَخْرُصُونَ And they say, [If it was that willed the Rahman, not we would serve them.] Not for them regarding that is of knowledge; indeed they are not except forming conjectures.
⦿
And they say: If the Beneficent One had (so) willed, we should not have worshipped them. They have no knowledge whatsoever of that. They do but guess. - Pickthall, Marmaduke
⦿
They say, [Had the All-beneficent wished, we would not have worshipped them.] They do not have any knowledge of that, and they do nothing but surmise. - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
The pagans say, [Had the Beneficent God wanted, we would not have worshipped them (idols).] Whatever they say is not based on knowledge. It is only a false conjecture. - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
And they say: If the Beneficent Allah had pleased, we should never have worshipped them. They have no knowledge of this; they only lie. - Shakir, Habib
⦿
They say, [If the All Merciful had so willed, we would not have worshipped them.] They have no knowledge of that. They are only conjecturing. - Wahiduddin Khan

اوریہ کہتے ہیں کہ خدا چاہتا توہم ان کی پرستش نہ کرتے انہیں اس بات کا کوئی علم نہیں ہے - یہ صرف اندازوں سے بات کرتے ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

یہ کہتے ہیں ——اگر خدائے رحمٰن چاہتا (کہ ہم اُن کی عبادت نہ کریں) تو ہم کبھی اُن کو نہ پوجتے—— یہ اس معاملے کی حقیقت کو قطعی نہیں جانتے، محض تیر تکے لڑاتے ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور بولے اگر رحمٰن چاہتا ہم انہیں نہ پوجتے انہیں اس کی حقیقت کچھ معلوم نہیں یونہی اٹکلیں دوڑاتے ہیں - Ahmed Raza

اور وہ کہتے ہیں کہ اگر اللہ چاہتا تو ہم ان (بتوں) کی عبادت نہ کرتے انہیں اس بارے میں کوئی علم نہیں ہے۔ وہ محض اٹکل پچو باتیں کرتے ہیں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

Or
ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْ
did We give to them
كِتَٰبًۭا
a book
مِّن
from
قَبْلِهِۦ
before it,
فَهُم
thus they
بِهِۦ
with it
مُسْتَمْسِكُونَ
are attached?
Or did We give to them a book from before it, thus they with it are attached?
⦿
Or have We given them any scripture before (this Qur'an) so that they are holding fast thereto? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

کیا ہم نے اس سے پہلے انہیں کوئی کتاب دی ہے جس سے یہ تمسّک کئے ہوئے ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

کیا ہم نے اِس سے پہلے کوئی کتاب اِن کو دی تھی جس کی سند (اپنی اِس ملائکہ پرستی کے لیے) یہ اپنے پاس رکھتے ہوں؟ - Maududi, Abul A'ala

بَلْ
On the contrary
قَالُوٓا۟
they say,
إِنَّا
[Certainly
وَجَدْنَآ
we found
ءَابَآءَنَا
our forefathers
عَلَىٰٓ
upon
أُمَّةٍۢ
a creed,
وَإِنَّا
and certainly we are
عَلَىٰٓ
on
ءَاثَٰرِهِم
their footsteps
مُّهْتَدُونَ
being guided.]
٤٣
٢٢
بَلْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٍۢ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم مُّهْتَدُونَ On the contrary they say, [Certainly we found our forefathers upon a creed, and certainly we are on their footsteps being guided.]
⦿
Nay, for they say only: Lo! we found our fathers following a religion, and we are guided by their footprints. - Pickthall, Marmaduke
⦿
No, they said, [We found our fathers following a creed, and we are indeed guided in their footsteps.] - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
In fact, they say, [We found our fathers following a certain belief and we now follow in their footsteps for our guidance]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Nay! they say: We found our fathers on a course, and surely we are guided by their footsteps. - Shakir, Habib
⦿
No indeed! They say, [We have found our fathers following a certain course, and we are guided by their footsteps.] - Wahiduddin Khan

نہیں بلکہ ان کا کہنا صرف یہ ہے کہ ہم نے اپنے باپ داداکو ایک طریقہ پر پایا ہے اورہم ان ہی کے نقش قدم پر ہدایت پانے والے ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

نہیں، بلکہ یہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو ایک طریقے پر پایا ہے اور ہم اُنہی کے نقش قدم پر چل رہے ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

بلکہ بولے ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو ایک دین پر پایا اور ہم ان کی لکیر پر چل رہے ہیں - Ahmed Raza

بلکہ وہ تو کہتے ہیں کہ ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو ایک طریقہ پر دیکھا ہے اور ہم انہی کے نقشِ قدم پر راہ یاب ہیں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

And likewise
مَآ
what
أَرْسَلْنَا
We sent
مِن
from
قَبْلِكَ
before you
فِى
in
قَرْيَةٍۢ
settlements
مِّن
of
نَّذِيرٍ
a warner
إِلَّا
except
قَالَ
said
مُتْرَفُوهَآ
those of luxuries,
إِنَّا
[Certainly
وَجَدْنَآ
we found
ءَابَآءَنَا
our elders
عَلَىٰٓ
upon it
أُمَّةٍۢ
a nation
وَإِنَّا
and we
عَلَىٰٓ
over
ءَاثَٰرِهِم
their decisions
مُّقْتَدُونَ
are imitating.]
٤٣
٢٣
وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِى قَرْيَةٍۢ مِّن نَّذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوهَآ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٍۢ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم مُّقْتَدُونَ And likewise what We sent from before you in settlements of a warner except said those of luxuries, [Certainly we found our elders upon it a nation and we over their decisions are imitating.]
⦿
And even so We sent not a warner before thee (Muhammad) into any township but its luxurious ones said: Lo! we found our fathers following a religion, and we are following their footprints. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

So it has been that We did not send any warner to a town before you, without its affluent ones saying, [We found our fathers following a creed and we are indeed following in their footsteps.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

In the same way, whenever We had sent a Messenger before you to warn a town, the rich ones therein said, [We found our fathers following a certain belief and we follow in their footsteps. - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
And thus, We did not send before you any warner in a town, but those who led easy lives in it said: Surely we found our fathers on a course, and surely we are followers of their footsteps. - Shakir, Habib
⦿
Whenever We sent a messenger before you to warn a township, the affluent among them said, in the same way, [We saw our fathers following this tradition; we are only following in their footsteps.] - Wahiduddin Khan

اور اسی طرح ہم نے آپ سے پہلے کی بستی میں کوئی پیغمبر نہیں بھیجا مگر یہ کہ اس بستی کے خوشحال لوگوں نے یہ کہہ دیا کہ ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو ایک طریقہ پر پایا ہے اور ہم ان ہی کے نقش قدم کی پیروی کرنے والے ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اِسی طرح تم سے پہلے جس بستی میں بھی ہم نے کوئی نذیر بھیجا، اُس کے کھاتے پیتے لوگوں نے یہی کہا کہ ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو ایک طریقے پر پایا ہے اور ہم اُنہی کے نقش قدم کی پیروی کر رہے ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور ایسے ہی ہم نے تم سے پہلے جب کسی شہر میں ڈر سنانے والا بھیجا وہاں کے آسُودوں (امیروں) نے یہی کہا کہ ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو ایک دین پر پایا اور ہم ان کی لکیر کے پیچھے ہیں - Ahmed Raza

اور اسی طرح ہم نے آپ(ص) سے پہلے کسی بستی میں کوئی ڈرا نے والا (پیغمبر(ع)) نہیں بھیجا مگر یہ کہ وہاں آسودہ حال لوگوں نے کہا کہ ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو ایک طریقہ پر پایا اور ہم تو انہی کے نقوشِ پاکی پیروی کر رہے ہیں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

Say,
أَوَلَوْ
[Even if
جِئْتُكُم
I come to you
بِأَهْدَىٰ
with better guidance
مِمَّا
then that
وَجَدتُّمْ
you found
عَلَيْهِ
upon which
ءَابَآءَكُمْ
your forefathers?]
ۖ
قَالُوٓا۟
They say,
إِنَّا
[Certainly we
بِمَآ
with what
أُرْسِلْتُم
you have been sent with
بِهِۦ
regarding it
كَٰفِرُونَ
are deniers.]
٤٣
٢٤
قَٰلَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكُم بِأَهْدَىٰ مِمَّا وَجَدتُّمْ عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَكُمْ ۖ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا بِمَآ أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِۦ كَٰفِرُونَ Say, [Even if I come to you with better guidance then that you found upon which your forefathers?] They say, [Certainly we with what you have been sent with regarding it are deniers.]
⦿
(And the warner) said: What! Even though I bring you better guidance than that ye found your fathers following? They answered: Lo! in what ye bring we are disbelievers. - Pickthall, Marmaduke
⦿
He would say, [What! Even if I bring you a better guidance than what you found your fathers following?!] They would say, [We indeed disbelieve in what you are sent with.] - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
The Messengers would say, [Would you still follow in the footsteps of your fathers even if I was to bring you better guidance?] They would say, [We have no faith in your message]. - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
(The warner) said: What! even if I bring to you a better guide than that on which you found your fathers? They said: Surely we are unbelievers in that with which you are sent. - Shakir, Habib
⦿
Each messenger said, [What if I should bring you better guidance than what you found your forefathers had?] They replied, [We reject any message you have been sent with!] - Wahiduddin Khan
⦿
تو پیغمبر نے کہا کہ چاہے میں اس سے بہتر پیغام لے آؤں جس پر تم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو پایا ہے تو انہوں نے جواب دیا کہ ہم تمہارے پیغام کے ماننے والے نہیں ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

ہر نبی نے ان سے پوچھا، کیا تم اُسی ڈگر پر چلے جاؤ گے خواہ میں اُس راستے سے زیادہ صحیح راستہ تمہیں بتاؤں جس پر تم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو پایا ہے؟ انہوں نے سارے رسولوں کو یہی جواب دیا کہ جس دین کی طرف بلانے کے لیے تم بھیجے گئے ہو ہم اُس کے کافر ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

نبی نے فرمایا اور کیا جب بھی کہ میں تمہارے پاس وہ لاؤں جو سیدھی راہ ہو اس سے جس پر تمہارے باپ دادا تھے بولے جو کچھ تم لے کر بھیجے گئے ہم اسے نہیں مانتے - Ahmed Raza

اس (نذیر) نے کہا گرچہ میں تمہارے پاس اس سے زیادہ ہدایت بخش طریقہلے کرایا ہوں جس پر تم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو پایا ہے؟ ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ تم جس(دین) کے ساتھ بھیجے گئے ہو ہم اس کے منکر ہیں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

Thus We take revenge
مِنْهُمْ
from them;
ۖ
فَٱنظُرْ
thus see
كَيْفَ
how
كَانَ
was
عَٰقِبَةُ
the end of
ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
the liars.
Thus We take revenge from them; thus see how was the end of the liars.
⦿
So We requited them. Then see the nature of the consequence for the rejecters! - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Thereupon We took vengeance on them; so observe how was the fate of the deniers. - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
We took revenge on them. See how terrible the end of those who rejected (Or revelations) was! - Sarwar, Muhammad

So We inflicted retribution on them, then see how was the end of the rejecters. - Shakir, Habib
⦿
So We wreaked Our vengeance on them: now see what was the end of those who rejected [the Truth]! - Wahiduddin Khan

پھر ہم نے ان سے بدلہ لے لیا تو اب دیکھو کہ تکذیب کرنے والوں کا کیا انجام ہوا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

آخر کار ہم نے اُن کی خبر لے ڈالی اور دیکھ لو کہ جھٹلانے والوں کا کیا انجام ہوا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

تو ہم نے ان سے بدلہ لیا تو دیکھو جھٹلانے والوں کا کیسا انجام ہوا، - Ahmed Raza

وَإِذْ
And (recall) when
قَالَ
said
إِبْرَٰهِيمُ
Ibrahim
لِأَبِيهِ
for his father
وَقَوْمِهِۦٓ
and his nation,
إِنَّنِى
[Surely I am
بَرَآءٌۭ
free
مِّمَّا
from what
تَعْبُدُونَ
you obey.]
And (recall) when said Ibrahim for his father and his nation, [Surely I am free from what you obey.]

And when Abraham said unto his father and his folk: Lo! I am innocent of what ye worship - Pickthall, Marmaduke

When Abraham said to his father and his people, [I repudiate what you worship, - Qarai, Ali Quli

اور جب ابراہیم نے اپنے (مربی) باپ اور اپنی قوم سے کہا کہ میں تمہارے تمام معبودوں سے بری اور بیزار ہوں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

they return.
And He made it a declaration that is lasting in his succession so that they may they return.

And he made it a word enduring among his seed, that haply they might return. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

On the contrary,
مَتَّعْتُ
provided amenities to
هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ

وَءَابَآءَهُمْ
and their forefathers
حَتَّىٰ
until
جَآءَهُمُ
came to them
ٱلْحَقُّ
the fact
وَرَسُولٌۭ
and a messenger
مُّبِينٌۭ
who has clarity.
On the contrary, provided amenities to these and their forefathers until came to them the fact and a messenger who has clarity.

Nay, but I let these and their fathers enjoy life (only) till there should come unto them the Truth and a messenger making plain. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Indeed, I provided for these and their fathers until the truth and a manifest apostle came to them. - Qarai, Ali Quli

In fact, We allowed them and their fathers to enjoy themselves until the truth and a strong Messenger came to them. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Yes, I gave the good things of this life to these [men] and their fathers, until the truth came to them, and a messenger expounding things clearly, - Wahiduddin Khan

بلکہ ہم نے ان لوگوں کو اور ان کے بزرگوں کو برابر آرام دیا یہاں تک کہ ان کے پاس حق اور واضح رسول آگیا - Jawadi, Zeeshan

(اس کے باوجود جب یہ لوگ دوسروں کی بندگی کرنے لگے تو میں نے ان کو مٹا نہیں دیا) بلکہ میں اِنہیں اور اِن کے باپ دادا کو متاع حیات دیتا رہا یہاں تک کہ اِن کے پاس حق، اور کھول کھول کر بیان کرنے والا رسول آگیا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

وَلَمَّا
And whenever
جَآءَهُمُ
came to them
ٱلْحَقُّ
the fact
قَالُوا۟
they said,
هَٰذَا
[This is
سِحْرٌۭ
an illusion,
وَإِنَّا
and we
بِهِۦ
about it
كَٰفِرُونَ
are deniers.]
And whenever came to them the fact they said, [This is an illusion, and we about it are deniers.]

And now that the Truth hath come unto them they say: This is mere magic, and lo! we are disbelievers therein. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

But when the truth came to them, they said, [This is magic, and we indeed disbelieve in it.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

When the truth came to them, they said, [This is magic and we have no faith in it]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And when there came to them the truth they said: This is magic, and surely we are disbelievers in it. - Shakir, Habib

but when the truth came to them, they said, [This is sorcery, and we reject it.] - Wahiduddin Khan

اور جب حق آگیا تو کہنے لگے کہ یہ تو جادو ہے اور ہم اس کے منکر ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

مگر جب وہ حق اِن کے پاس آیا تو اِنہوں نے کہہ دیا کہ یہ تو جادو ہے اور ہم اس کو ماننے سے انکار کرتے ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

And they said,
لَوْلَا
[Howcome not
نُزِّلَ
decended
هَٰذَا
this
ٱلْقُرْءَانُ
Proclamation
عَلَىٰ
upon
رَجُلٍۢ
men
مِّنَ
from
ٱلْقَرْيَتَيْنِ
the two cities of
عَظِيمٍ
grandeur?]
And they said, [Howcome not decended this Proclamation upon men from the two cities of grandeur?]
⦿
And they say: If only this Qur'an had been revealed to some great man of the two towns? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And they said, [Why was not this Quran sent down to some great man from the two cities?] - Qarai, Ali Quli

Then they said, [Why this Quran had not been revealed to a man from either of the two great towns]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And they say: Why was not this Quran revealed to a man of importance in the two towns? - Shakir, Habib
⦿
They said, [Why was this Quran not sent down to one of the great men of the two cities?] - Wahiduddin Khan

اور یہ کہنے لگے کہ آخر یہ قرآن دونوں بستیوں (مکہ و طائف) کے کسی بڑے آدمی پر کیوں نہیں نازل کیا گیا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

کہتے ہیں، یہ قرآن دونوں شہروں کے بڑے آدمیوں میں سے کسی پر کیوں نہ نازل کیا گیا؟ - Maududi, Abul A'ala

نَحْنُ
We are who
قَسَمْنَا
make shares
بَيْنَهُم
between them of
مَّعِيشَتَهُمْ
their economies
فِى
in
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
the life of
ٱلدُّنْيَا
the World;
ۚ
وَرَفَعْنَا
and We raised
بَعْضَهُمْ
some of them
فَوْقَ
above
بَعْضٍۢ
some of
دَرَجَٰتٍۢ
degrees,
لِّيَتَّخِذَ
to make adopt
بَعْضُهُم
some of them
بَعْضًۭا
some others
سُخْرِيًّۭا
for service;
ۗ
وَرَحْمَتُ
and blessing of
رَبِّكَ
your Rabb
خَيْرٌۭ
is better
مِّمَّا
from what
يَجْمَعُونَ
they collect altogether.

٣٢
أَهُمْ يَقْسِمُونَ رَحْمَتَ رَبِّكَ ۚ نَحْنُ قَسَمْنَا بَيْنَهُم مَّعِيشَتَهُمْ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ وَرَفَعْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ فَوْقَ بَعْضٍۢ دَرَجَٰتٍۢ لِّيَتَّخِذَ بَعْضُهُم بَعْضًۭا سُخْرِيًّۭا ۗ وَرَحْمَتُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌۭ مِّمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ Are they sharing blessings of your Nourisher? We are who make shares between them of their economies in the life of the World; and We raised some of them above some of degrees, to make adopt some of them some others for service; and blessing of your Rabb is better from what they collect altogether.

Is it they who apportion thy Lord's mercy? We have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of the world, and raised some of them above others in rank that some of them may take labour from others; and the mercy of thy Lord is better than (the wealth) that they amass. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Is it they who dispense the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have dispensed among them their livelihood in the present life, and raised some of them above others in rank, so that some may take others into service, and your Lord]s mercy is better than what they amass. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Do they distribute the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have distributed their sustenance in this world and raised the positions of some of them above the others so that they would mock each other. The mercy of your Lord is better than what they can amass. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Will they distribute the mercy of your Lord? We distribute among them their livelihood in the life of this world, and We j have exalted some of them above others in degrees, that some of them may take others in subjection; and the mercy of your Lord is better than what they amass. - Shakir, Habib

کیا تیرے رب کی رحمت یہ لوگ تقسیم کرتے ہیں؟ دنیا کی زندگی میں اِن کی گزر بسر کے ذرائع تو ہم نے اِن کے درمیان تقسیم کیے ہیں، اور اِن میں سے کچھ لوگوں کو کچھ دوسرے لوگوں پر ہم نے بدرجہا فوقیت دی ہے تاکہ یہ ایک دوسرے سے خدمت لیں اور تیرے رب کی رحمت اُس دولت سے زیادہ قیمتی ہے جو (اِن کے رئیس) سمیٹ رہے ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala
