وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ مِن فَوْقِهَا وَبَٰرَكَ فِيهَا وَقَدَّرَ فِيهَآ أَقْوَٰتَهَا فِىٓ أَرْبَعَةِ أَيَّامٍۢ سَوَآءًۭ لِّلسَّآئِلِينَ

He placed therein firm hills rising above it, and blessed it and measured therein its sustenance in four Days, alike for (all) who ask;

He set in it firm mountains, [rising] above it, blessed it, and ordained in it, in four days, [various] means of sustenance, equally for all seekers.

In four days He placed the mountains on it, blessed it, and equally measured out sustenance for those who seek sustenance.

And He made in it mountains above its surface, and He blessed therein and made therein its foods, in four periods: alike for the seekers.

He placed firm mountains on the earth, and blessed it. He measured out its means of sustenance all in four Days; this is for those who ask for it.

اور اس نے اس زمین میں اوپر سے پہاڑ قرار دے دیئے ہیںاور برکت رکھ دی ہے اور چار دن کے اندر تمام سامان معیشت کو مقرر کردیا ہے جو تمام طلبگاروں کے لئے مساوی حیثیت رکھتا ہے

اُس نے (زمین کو وجود میں لانے کے بعد) اوپر سے اس پر پہاڑ جما دیے اور اس میں برکتیں رکھ دیں اور اس کے اندر سب مانگنے والوں کے لیے ہر ایک کی طلب و حاجت کے مطابق ٹھیک اندازے سے خوراک کا سامان مہیا کر دیا یہ سب کام چار دن میں ہو گئے

ثُمَّ ٱسْتَوَىٰٓ إِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَهِىَ دُخَانٌۭ فَقَالَ لَهَا وَلِلْأَرْضِ ٱئْتِيَا طَوْعًا أَوْ كَرْهًۭا قَالَتَآ أَتَيْنَا طَآئِعِينَ

Then turned He to the heaven when it was smoke, and said unto it and unto the earth: Come both of you, willingly or loth. They said: We come, obedient.

Then He turned to the heaven, and it was smoke, and He said to it and to the earth, [Come, willingly or unwillingly!] They said, [We come obediently.]

He established His dominance over the sky, which (for that time) was like smoke. Then He told the heavens and the earth, [Take your shape either willingly or by force] They said, [We willingly obey].

Then He directed Himself to the heaven and it is a vapor, so He said to it and to the earth: Come both, willingly or unwillingly. They both said: We come willingly.

اس کے بعد اس نے آسمان کا رخ کیا جو بالکل دھواں تھا اور اسے اور زمین کو حکم دیا کہ بخوشی یا بہ کراہت ہماری طرف آؤ تو دونوں نے عرض کی کہ ہم اطاعت گزار بن کر حاضر ہیں

پھر وہ آسمان کی طرف متوجہ ہوا جو اُس وقت محض دھواں تھا اُس نے آسمان اور زمین سے کہا ——وجود میں آ جاؤ، خواہ تم چاہو یا نہ چاہو—— دونوں نے کہا ——ہم آ گئے فرمانبرداروں کی طرح——

پھر آسمان کی طرف قصد فرمایا اور وہ دھواں تھا تو اس سے اور زمین سے فرمایا کہ دونوں حاضر ہو خوشی سے چاہے ناخوشی سے، دونوں نے عرض کی کہ ہم رغبت کے ساتھ حاضر ہوئے،

فَقَضَىٰهُنَّ سَبْعَ سَمَٰوَاتٍۢ فِى يَوْمَيْنِ وَأَوْحَىٰ فِى كُلِّ سَمَآءٍ أَمْرَهَا ۚ وَزَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِمَصَٰبِيحَ وَحِفْظًۭا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْعَلِيمِ

Then He ordained them seven heavens in two Days and inspired in each heaven its mandate; and We decked the nether heaven with lamps, and rendered it inviolable. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Knower.

Then He set them up as seven heavens in two days, and revealed [to the angels] in each heaven its ordinance. We have adorned the lowest heaven with lamps, and guarded them. That is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing.

He formed the seven heavens in two days and revealed to each one its task. He decked the sky above the earth with torches and protected it from (intruders).. Such is the design of the Majestic and All-knowing God].

تو انہیں پورے سات آسمان کردیا دو دن میں اور ہر آسمان میں اسی کے کام کے احکام بھیجے اور ہم نے نیچے کے آسمان کو چراغوں سے آراستہ کیا اور نگہبانی کے لیے یہ اس عزت والے علم والے کا ٹھہرایا ہوا ہے،

But if they turn away, then say: I warn you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt (which fell of old upon the tribes) of A'ad and Thamud;

But if they turn away, say, [I warn you of a thunderbolt, like the thunderbolt of [Ad and Thamud.]

If they ignore (your message), tell them, [I have warned you against a destructive blast of sound like that which struck the people of `Ad and Thamud.

But if they turn aside, then say: I have warned you of a scourge like the scourge of Ad and Samood.

پھر اگر یہ اعراض کریں تو کہہ دیجئے کہ ہم نے تم کو ویسی ہی بجلی کے عذاب سے ڈرایا ہے جیسی قوم عاد و ثمود پر نازل ہوئی تھی

اب اگر یہ لوگ منہ موڑتے ہیں تو اِن سے کہہ دو کہ میں تم کو اُسی طرح کے ایک اچانک ٹوٹ پڑنے والے عذاب سے ڈراتا ہوں جیسا عاد اور ثمود پر نازل ہوا تھا

When their messengers came unto them from before them and behind them, saying: Worship none but Allah! they said: If our Lord had willed, He surely would have sent down angels (unto us), so lo! we are disbelievers in that wherewith ye have been sent.

When their apostles came to them from before them and from behind them, saying, Serve nothing but Allah, they said: If our Lord had pleased He would certainly have sent down angels, so we are surely unbelievers in that with which you are sent.

جب خدا کے رسول اُن کے پاس آگے اور پیچھے، ہر طرف سے آئے اور انہیں سمجھایا کہ اللہ کے سوا کسی کی بندگی نہ کرو تو انہوں نے کہا ——ہمارا رب چاہتا تو فرشتے بھیجتا، لہٰذا ہم اُس بات کو نہیں مانتے جس کے لیے تم بھیجے گئے ہو——

جب رسول ان کے آگے پیچھے پھرتے تھے کہ اللہ کے سوا کسی کو نہ پوجو، بولے ہمارا رب چاہتا تو فرشتے اتارتا تو جو کچھ تم لے کر بھیجے گئے ہم اسے نہیں مانتے

جبکہ ان کے پاس (اللہ کے) رسول(ع) ان کے آگے اور ان کے پیچھے سے آئے (اس پیغام کے ساتھ) کہ اللہ کے سوا کسی کی عبادت نہ کرو۔ مگر انہوں نے (جواب میں) کہا کہ اگر ہمارا پروردگار چاہتا تو (ہماری طرف) فرشتے نازل کرتا۔ لہٰذا جس (پیغام) کے ساتھ تم بھیجے گئے ہو ہم اس کا انکار کرتے ہیں۔

فَأَمَّا عَادٌۭ فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ وَقَالُوا۟ مَنْ أَشَدُّ مِنَّا قُوَّةً ۖ أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَهُمْ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةًۭ ۖ وَكَانُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ

As for A'ad, they were arrogant in the land without right, and they said: Who is mightier than us in power? Could they not see that Allah Who created them, He was mightier than them in power? And they denied Our revelations.

As for [the people of] [Ad, they acted arrogantly in the earth unduly, and they said, [Who is more powerful than us?] Did they not see that Allah, who created them, is more powerful than them? They used to impugn Our signs;

The people of Ad unjustly sought dominance on earth saying, [Who is more powerful than us?] Did they not consider that God created them and that He is more powerful than they were?] They rejected Our revelations.

Then as to Ad, they were unjustly proud in the land, and they said: Who is mightier in strength than we? Did they not see that Allah Who created them was mightier than they in strength, and they denied Our communications?

As for the tribe of 'Ad, they behaved arrogantly in the land without any justification and said, [Who is mightier than we in power?] Did they not see that God, who created them, was mightier than they in power? Still they continued to deny Our signs,

پھر قوم عاد نے زمین میں ناحق بلندی اور برتری سے کام لیا اور یہ کہنا شروع کردیا کہ ہم سے زیادہ طاقت والا کون ہے .... تو کیا ان لوگوں نے یہ نہیں دیکھا کہ جس نے ان سب کو پیدا کیا ہے وہ بہرحال ان سے زیادہ طاقت رکھنے والا ہے لیکن یہ لوگ ہماری نشانیوں کا انکار کرنے والے تھے

عاد کا حال یہ تھا کہ وہ زمین میں کسی حق کے بغیر بڑے بن بیٹھے اور کہنے لگے ——کون ہے ہم سے زیادہ زور آور—— اُن کو یہ نہ سوجھا کہ جس خدا نے ان کو پیدا کیا ہے وہ ان سے زیادہ زور آور ہے؟ وہ ہماری آیات کا انکار ہی کرتے رہے

فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًۭا صَرْصَرًۭا فِىٓ أَيَّامٍۢ نَّحِسَاتٍۢ لِّنُذِيقَهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْخِزْىِ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ أَخْزَىٰ ۖ وَهُمْ لَا يُنصَرُونَ

Therefor We let loose on them a raging wind in evil days, that We might make them taste the torment of disgrace in the life of the world. And verily the doom of the Hereafter will be more shameful, and they will not be helped.

And as for Thamud, We gave them guidance, but they preferred blindness to the guidance, so the bolt of the doom of humiliation overtook them because of what they used to earn.

And they say unto their skins: Why testify ye against us? They say: Allah hath given us speech Who giveth speech to all things, and Who created you at the first, and unto Whom ye are returned.

They will say to their skins, [Why did you bear witness against us?] They will say, [We were given speech by Allah, who gave speech to all things. He created you the first time, and you are being brought back to Him.

They will ask their own skin, [Why did you testify against us?] They will reply, [God, who has made everything speak, made us also speak. It was He Who created you in the first place and to Him you have returned.

وہ اپنے جسم کی کھالوں سے کہیں گے ——تم نے ہمارے خلاف کیوں گواہی دی؟——وہ جواب دیں گی ——ہمیں اُسی خدا نے گویائی دی ہے جس نے ہر چیز کو گویا کر دیا ہے اُسی نے تم کو پہلی مرتبہ پیدا کیا تھا اور اب اُسی کی طرف تم واپس لائے جا رہے ہو

Ye did not hide yourselves lest your ears and your eyes and your skins should testify against you, but ye deemed that Allah knew not much of what ye did.

That, your thought which ye did think about your Lord, hath ruined you; and ye find yourselves (this day) among the lost.

تمہارے اسی گمان نے جو تم نے اپنے پروردگار کی نسبت کیا تھا تمہیں تباہ کر دیا اور تم خسارہ اٹھانے والوں میں سے ہوگئے۔

And though they are resigned, yet the Fire is still their home; and if they ask for favour, yet they are not of those unto whom favour can be shown.

Even if they were to exercise patience, their dwelling would still be hell fire. Even if they were to seek favors, they would receive none.

وَقَيَّضْنَا لَهُمْ قُرَنَآءَ فَزَيَّنُوا۟ لَهُم مَّا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَحَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَوْلُ فِىٓ أُمَمٍۢ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ خَٰسِرِينَ

And We assigned them comrades (in the world), who made their present and their past fairseeming unto them. And the Word concerning nations of the jinn and humankind who passed away before them hath effect for them. Lo! they were ever losers.

We have assigned them companions who make their present [conduct] and future [state] seem decorous to them, and the word became due against them along with the nations of jinn and humans that passed away before them. They were indeed losers.

We assigned for them companions who would make their past and present (deeds) seem attractive to them. Thus, they became subject to what the jinn and human beings before were destined to suffer. They were certainly lost.

And We have appointed for them comrades so they have made fair-seeming to them what is before them and what is behind them, and the word proved true against them-- among the nations of the jinn and the men that have passed away before them-- that they shall surely be losers.

ہم نے ان پر ایسے ساتھی مسلط کر دیے تھے جو انہیں آگے اور پیچھے ہر چیز خوشنما بنا کر دکھاتے تھے، آخر کار اُن پر بھی وہی فیصلہ عذاب چسپاں ہو کر رہا جو ان سے پہلے گزرے ہوئے جنوں اور انسانوں کے گروہوں پر چسپاں ہو چکا تھا، یقیناً وہ خسارے میں رہ جانے والے تھے

But verily We shall cause those who disbelieve to taste an awful doom, and verily We shall requite them the worst of what they used to do.

That is the reward of Allah's enemies: the Fire. Therein is their immortal home, payment forasmuch as they denied Our revelations.

That is the requital of the enemies of Allah—the Fire! In it, they will have an everlasting abode, as a requital for their impugning Our signs.

And those who disbelieve will say: Our Lord! Show us those who beguiled us of the jinn and humankind. We will place them underneath our feet that they may be among the nethermost.

The faithless will say, [Our Lord! Show us those who led us astray from among jinn and humans so that we may trample them under our feet, so that they may be among the lowermost!]

The disbelievers will say, [Lord, show us the human beings and jinn who caused us to go astray. We shall put them under our feet to lower them].

And those who disbelieve will say: Our Lord! show us those who led us astray from among the jinn and the men that we may trample them under our feet so that they may be of the lowest.

Those who deny the truth will say, [Our Lord, show us those jinn and men who misled us and we shall trample them underfoot, so that they may be among the lowest of the low.]

اور کفاّر یہ فریاد کریں گے کہ پروردگار ہمیں جنّات و انسان کے ان لوگوں کو دکھلادے جنہوں نے ہم کو گمراہ کیا تھا تاکہ ہم انہیں اپنے قدموں کے نیچے قرار دیدیں اور اس طرح وہ پست لوگوں میں شامل ہوجائیں

وہاں یہ کافر کہیں گے کہ ——اے ہمارے رب، ذرا ہمیں دکھا دے اُن جنوں اور انسانوں کو جنہوں نے ہمیں گمراہ کیا تھا، ہم انہیں پاؤں تلے روند ڈالیں گے تاکہ وہ خوب ذلیل و خوار ہوں——

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوا۟ رَبُّنَا ٱللَّهُ ثُمَّ ٱسْتَقَٰمُوا۟ تَتَنَزَّلُ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ أَلَّا تَخَافُوا۟ وَلَا تَحْزَنُوا۟ وَأَبْشِرُوا۟ بِٱلْجَنَّةِ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ

Lo! those who say: Our Lord is Allah, and afterward are upright, the angels descend upon them, saying: Fear not nor grieve, but hear good tidings of the paradise which ye are promised.

Indeed those who say, [Our Lord is Allah!] and then remain steadfast, the angels descend upon them, [saying,] [Do not fear, nor be grieved! Receive the good news of the paradise, which you have been promised.

To those who have said, [God is our Lord, [ and who have remained steadfast to their belief, the angels will descend saying, [Do not be afraid or grieved. Receive the glad news of the Paradise which was promised to you.

(As for) those who say: Our Lord is Allah, then continue in the right way, the angels descend upon them, saying: Fear not, nor be grieved, and receive good news of the garden which you were promised.

As for those who affirm, [Our Lord is God,] and then remain steadfast, the angels will descend on them, saying, [Have no fear and do not grieve. Rejoice in the [good news of the] Garden that you have been promised.

بیشک جن لوگوں نے یہ کہا کہ اللہ ہمارا رب ہے اور اسی پر جمے رہے ان پر ملائکہ یہ پیغام لے کر نازل ہوتے ہیں کہ ڈرو نہیں اور رنجیدہ بھی نہ ہو اور اس جنّت سے مسرور ہوجاؤ جس کا تم سے وعدہ کیا جارہا ہے

The good deed and the evil deed are not alike. Repel the evil deed with one which is better, then lo! he, between whom and thee there was enmity (will become) as though he was a bosom friend.

وَمِنْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦٓ أَنَّكَ تَرَى ٱلْأَرْضَ خَٰشِعَةًۭ فَإِذَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْهَا ٱلْمَآءَ ٱهْتَزَّتْ وَرَبَتْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَحْيَاهَا لَمُحْىِ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرٌ

And of His portents (is this): that thou seest the earth lowly, but when We send down water thereon it thrilleth and groweth. Lo! He Who quickeneth it is verily the Quickener of the Dead. Lo! He is Able to do all things.

Among His signs, is that you see the earth desolate; but when We send down water upon it, it stirs and swells. Indeed, He who revives it will also revive the dead. Indeed, He has power over all things.

Further evidence is that (at times) you find the earth to be barren. When it is watered it moves and swells (to let the plants grow). The One who brings it back to life will also bring the dead back to life. He has power over all things.

اور اللہ کی نشانیوں میں سے ایک یہ ہے کہ تم دیکھتے ہو زمین سونی پڑی ہوئی ہے، پھر جونہی کہ ہم نے اس پر پانی برسایا، یکایک وہ پھبک اٹھتی ہے اور پھول جاتی ہے یقیناً جو خدا اس مری ہوئی زمین کو جلا اٹھاتا ہے وہ مُردوں کو بھی زندگی بخشنے والا ہے یقیناً وہ ہر چیز پر قدرت رکھتا ہے

اور اس کی نشانیوں سے ہے کہ تو زمین کو دیکھے بے قدر پڑی پھر جب ہم نے اس پر پانی اتارا تر و تازہ ہوئی اور بڑھ چلی، بیشک جس نے اسے جِلایا ضرور مردے جِلائے گا، بیشک وہ سب کچھ کرسکتا ہے،

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُلْحِدُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَٰتِنَا لَا يَخْفَوْنَ عَلَيْنَآ ۗ أَفَمَن يُلْقَىٰ فِى ٱلنَّارِ خَيْرٌ أَم مَّن يَأْتِىٓ ءَامِنًۭا يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ ۚ ٱعْمَلُوا۟ مَا شِئْتُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ

Lo! those who distort Our revelations are not hid from Us. Is he who is hurled into the Fire better, or he who cometh secure on the Day of Resurrection? Do what ye will. Lo! He is Seer of what ye do.

Those who abuse Our signs are not hidden from Us. Is someone who is cast in the Fire better off, or someone who arrives safely on the Day of Resurrection? Act as you wish; indeed He watches what you do.

Those who deviate from Our revelations are not hidden from Us. Is the one who will be thrown into hell fire better than the one who will be brought safely into the presence of God on the Day of Judgment? Act as you wish; God is Well-Aware of whatever you do.

Surely they who deviate from the right way concerning Our communications are not hidden from Us. What! is he then who is cast into the fire better, or he who comes safe on the day of resurrection? Do what you like, surely He sees what you do.

Falsehood cannot come at it from before it or from behind it. (It is) a revelation from the Wise, the Owner of Praise.

Naught is said unto thee (Muhammad) save what was said unto the messengers before thee. Lo! thy Lord is owner of forgiveness, and owner (also) of dire punishment.

وَلَوْ

And if

جَعَلْنَٰهُ

We had made it

قُرْءَانًا

a proclamation

أَعْجَمِيًّۭا

of non-Arabic,

لَّقَالُوا۟

they would have said,

لَوْلَا

[How come not

فُصِّلَتْ

are detailed

ءَايَٰتُهُۥٓ

His ayaat?]

ءَا۬عْجَمِىٌّۭ

What non-Arabic

وَعَرَبِىٌّۭ

and Arabic?

قُلْ

Say,

هُوَ

[It is

لِلَّذِينَ

for the ones who

ءَامَنُوا۟

have conviction

هُدًۭى

a guidance

وَشِفَآءٌۭ

and a healing;

وَٱلَّذِينَ

and the ones who

لَا

do not

يُؤْمِنُونَ

have conviction,

فِىٓ

ءَاذَانِهِمْ

their ears is

وَقْرٌۭ

deafness,

وَهُوَ

and it is

عَلَيْهِمْ

upon them

عَمًى

as blindness;

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ

they are

يُنَادَوْنَ

being called

مِن

from

مَّكَانٍۭ

a place

بَعِيدٍۢ

that is far away.]

وَلَوْ جَعَلْنَٰهُ قُرْءَانًا أَعْجَمِيًّۭا لَّقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَا فُصِّلَتْ ءَايَٰتُهُۥٓ ۖ ءَا۬عْجَمِىٌّۭ وَعَرَبِىٌّۭ ۗ قُلْ هُوَ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ هُدًۭى وَشِفَآءٌۭ ۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ فِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَقْرٌۭ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَمًى ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يُنَادَوْنَ مِن مَّكَانٍۭ بَعِيدٍۢ

And if We had made it a proclamation of non-Arabic, they would have said, [How come not are detailed His ayaat?] What non-Arabic and Arabic? Say, [It is for the ones who have conviction a guidance and a healing; and the ones who do not have conviction, in their ears is deafness, and it is upon them as blindness; they are being called from a place that is far away.]

And if We had appointed it a Lecture in a foreign tongue they would assuredly have said: If only its verses were expounded (so that we might understand)? What! A foreign tongue and an Arab? - Say unto them (O Muhammad): For those who believe it is a guidance and a healing; and as for those who disbelieve, there is a deafness in their ears, and it is blindness for them. Such are called to from afar.

Had We made it a non-Arabic Quran, they would have said, [Why have not its signs been articulated?] [What! A non-Arabian [scripture] and an Arabian [prophet]!?] Say, [It is guidance and healing for those who have faith. As for those who are faithless, there is a deafness in their ears and it is lost to their sight: [to them it is as if] they were called from a distant place.]

Had We sent down this Quran in a non-Arabic language, they would have said, [Why have its verses not been well expounded?] Could a non-Arabic Book be revealed to an Arabic speaking person? (Muhammad), say, [It is a guide and a cure for the believers. As for those who do not believe, they are deaf and blind. It is as though they had been called from a distant place].

And if We had made it a Quran in a foreign tongue, they would certainly have said: Why have not its communications been made clear? What! a foreign (tongue) and an Arabian! Say: It is to those who believe a guidance and a healing; and (as for) those who do not believe, there is a heaviness in their ears and it is obscure to them; these shall be called to from a far-off place.

Had We sent this as a Quran [in a language] other than Arabic, they would have said, [Why are its verses not clearly explained? What! An Arab Prophet, and a scripture in a foreign tongue?] Say, [It is a guide and a healing to those who believe; but for those who do not believe, there is a deafness in their ears, and a covering over their eyes: they are [as it were] being called from a very distant place.]

اور اگر ہم اس قرآن کو عجمی زبان میں نازل کردیتے تو یہ کہتے کہ اس کی آیتیں واضح کیوں نہیں ہیں اور یہ عجمی کتاب اور عربی انسان کا ربط کیا ہے. تو آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ یہ کتاب صاحبان ه ایمان کے لئے شفا اور ہدایت ہے اور جو لوگ ایمان نہیں رکھتے ہیں ان کے کانوں میں بہرا پن ہے اور وہ ان کو نظر بھی نہیں آرہا ہے اور ان لوگوں کو بہت دور سے پکارا جائے گا

اگر ہم اِس کو عجمی قرآن بنا کر بھیجتے تو یہ لوگ کہتے ——کیوں نہ اس کی آیات کھول کر بیان کی گئیں؟ کیا عجیب بات ہے کہ کلام عجمی ہے اور مخاطب عربی—— اِن سے کہو یہ قرآن ایمان لانے والوں کے لیے تو ہدایت اور شفا ہے، مگر جو لوگ ایمان نہیں لاتے اُن کے لیے یہ کانوں کی ڈاٹ اور آنکھوں کی پٹی ہے اُن کا حال تو ایسا ہے جیسے اُن کو دور سے پکارا جا رہا ہو

اور اگر ہم اسے عجمی زبان کا قرآن کرتے تو ضرور کہتے کہ اس کی آیتیں کیوں نہ کھولی گئیں کیا کتاب عجمی اور نبی عربی تم فرماؤ وہ ایمان والوں کے لیے ہدایت اور شفا ہے اور وہ جو ایمان نہیں لاتے ان کے کانوں میں ٹینٹ (روئی) ہے اور وہ ان پر اندھا پن ہے گویا وہ دور جگہ سے پکارے جاتے ہیں

اگر ہم اس (قرآن) کو عجمی زبان میں بنا کر نازل کرتے تو یہ لوگ کہتے کہ اس کی آیتیں صاف صاف (کھول کر) کیوں بیان نہیں کی گئیں؟ آپ(ص) کہہ دیجئے کہ یہ ایمان لانے والوں کیلئے ہدایت اور شفا ہے اور جو ایمان نہیں لاتے ان کے کانوں میں گرانی (بہرہ پن) ہے اور وہ ان کے حق میں نابینائی ہے اور یہ لوگ (بہرہ پن کی وجہ سے گویا) بہت دور راستہ کی جگہ سے پکارے جا رہے ہیں۔

وَلَقَدْ

And for sure

ءَاتَيْنَا

We gave to

مُوسَى

Moosa

ٱلْكِتَٰبَ

the Book,

فَٱخْتُلِفَ

then there was disagreement

فِيهِ

in it,

وَلَوْلَا

and if not for

كَلِمَةٌۭ

a word

سَبَقَتْ

that preceeds

مِن

رَّبِّكَ

your Rabb

لَقُضِىَ

He would have decided

بَيْنَهُمْ

between them;

وَإِنَّهُمْ

and they certainly

لَفِى

are in

وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَٰبَ فَٱخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ ۗ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌۭ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَقُضِىَ بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَفِى شَكٍّۢ مِّنْهُ مُرِيبٍۢ

And for sure We gave to Moosa the Book, then there was disagreement in it, and if not for a word that preceeds of your Rabb He would have decided between them; and they certainly are in suspicion of it being doubtful.

⦿

And We verily gave Moses the Scripture, but there hath been dispute concerning it; and but for a Word that had already gone forth from thy Lord, it would ere now have been judged between them; but lo! they are in hopeless doubt concerning it.

Certainly We gave Moses the Book, but differences arose about it; and were it not for a prior decree of your Lord, judgement would have been made between them, for they are in grave doubt concerning it.

We had given the Book to Moses about which people greatly disagreed. Had the word of your Lord not been decreed, He would have certainly settled their differences (there and then). They were greatly suspicious and doubtful about the Book of Moses.

اِس سے پہلے ہم نے موسیٰؑ کو کتاب دی تھی اور اس کے معاملے میں بھی یہی اختلاف ہوا تھا اگر تیرے رب نے پہلے ہی ایک بات طے نہ کر دی ہوتی تو ان اختلاف کرنے والوں کے درمیان فیصلہ چکا دیا جاتا اور حقیقت یہ ہے کہ یہ لوگ اُس کی طرف سے سخت اضطراب انگیز شک میں پڑے ہوئے ہیں

اور بیشک ہم نے موسیٰ کو کتاب عطا فرمائی تو اس میں اختلاف کیا گیا اور اگر ایک بات تمہارے رب کی طرف سے گزر نہ چکی ہوتی تو جبھی ان کا فیصلہ ہوجاتا اور بیشک وہ ضرور اس کی طرف سے ایک دھوکا ڈالنے والے شک میں ہیں،

مَّنْ

Whoever

عَمِلَ

صَٰلِحًۭا

فَلِنَفْسِهِۦ

thus for himself;

وَمَنْ

and whoever (does)

أَسَآءَ

offense

فَعَلَيْهَا

thus upon them;

وَمَا

and not

رَبُّكَ

your Rabb

بِظَلَّٰمٍۢ

is with darkness

لِّلْعَبِيدِ

for the ones who serve Him.

٤٦

مَّنْ عَمِلَ صَٰلِحًۭا فَلِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ وَمَنْ أَسَآءَ فَعَلَيْهَا ۗ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِظَلَّٰمٍۢ لِّلْعَبِيدِ

Whoever worked constructively thus for himself; and whoever (does) offense thus upon them; and not your Rabb is with darkness for the ones who serve Him.

⦿

Whoso doeth right it is for his soul, and whoso doeth wrong it is against it. And thy Lord is not at all a tyrant to His slaves.

Whoever acts righteously, it is for [the benefit of] his own soul, and whoever does evil, it is to its detriment, and your Lord is not tyrannical to His servants.

إِلَيْهِ يُرَدُّ عِلْمُ ٱلسَّاعَةِ ۚ وَمَا تَخْرُجُ مِن ثَمَرَٰتٍۢ مِّنْ أَكْمَامِهَا وَمَا تَحْمِلُ مِنْ أُنثَىٰ وَلَا تَضَعُ إِلَّا بِعِلْمِهِۦ ۚ وَيَوْمَ يُنَادِيهِمْ أَيْنَ شُرَكَآءِى قَالُوٓا۟ ءَاذَنَّٰكَ مَا مِنَّا مِن شَهِيدٍۢ

Unto Him is referred (all) knowledge of the Hour. And no fruits burst forth from their sheaths, and no female carrieth or bringeth forth but with His knowledge. And on the day when He calleth unto them: Where are now My partners? they will say: We confess unto Thee, not one of us is a witness (for them).

On Him devolves the knowledge of the Hour, and no fruit emerges from its covering and no female conceives or delivers except with His knowledge. On the day when He will call out to them, [Where are My [partners]?] They will say, [We informed You that there is no witness amongst us.]

It is He who has the knowledge of the Hour of Doom and the fruits that will come out of their covering. He knows what the females conceive and deliver. On the day when the unbelievers will be asked, [Where are the idols which you considered equal to God?,] they will reply, [We declare that none of us have seen them].

اُس ساعت کا علم اللہ ہی کی طرف راجع ہوتا ہے، وہی اُن سارے پھلوں کو جانتا ہے جو اپنے شگوفوں میں سے نکلتے ہیں، اسی کو معلوم ہے کہ کونسی مادہ حاملہ ہوئی ہے اور کس نے بچہ جنا ہے پھر جس روز وہ اِن لوگوں کو پکارے گا کہ کہاں ہیں میرے وہ شریک؟ یہ کہیں گے، ——ہم عرض کر چکے ہیں، آج ہم میں سے کوئی اِس کی گواہی دینے والا نہیں ہے——

And those to whom they used to cry of old have failed them, and they perceive they have no place of refuge.

Man tireth not of praying for good, and if ill toucheth him, then he is disheartened, desperate.

وَلَئِنْ أَذَقْنَٰهُ رَحْمَةًۭ مِّنَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ ضَرَّآءَ مَسَّتْهُ لَيَقُولَنَّ هَٰذَا لِى وَمَآ أَظُنُّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ قَآئِمَةًۭ وَلَئِن رُّجِعْتُ إِلَىٰ رَبِّىٓ إِنَّ لِى عِندَهُۥ لَلْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ فَلَنُنَبِّئَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِمَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُم مِّنْ عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٍۢ

And verily, if We cause him to taste mercy after some hurt that hath touched him, he will say: This is my own; and I deem not that the Hour will ever rise, and if I am brought back to my Lord, I surely shall be better off with Him - But We verily shall tell those who disbelieve (all) that they did, and We verily shall make them taste hard punishment.

If, after distress has befallen him, We let him have a taste of Our mercy, he says, [This is my due! I do not think the Hour will ever come, and in case I am returned to my Lord, I will indeed have the best [reward] with Him.] So We will surely inform the faithless about what they have done, and will surely make them taste a harsh punishment.

When We grant him mercy after his suffering, he (boldly) says, [This is what I deserved. I do not think that there will ever be a Day of Judgment. Even if I will be returned to my Lord, I shall still deserve to receive better rewards from Him.] We shall certainly tell the unbelievers about their deeds and cause them to suffer a severe punishment.

And if We make him taste mercy from Us after distress that has touched him, he would most certainly say: This is of me, and I do not think the hour will come to pass, and if I am sent back to my Lord, I shall have with Him sure good; but We will most certainly inform those who disbelieved of what they did, and We will most certainly make them taste of hard chastisement.

When We give him a taste of some of Our mercy, after some adversity has touched him, he is sure to say, [This is my due. I do not think that the Hour is going to come. And even if I return to my Lord, He will surely reward me well.] But truly We shall tell those who deny the truth [all] that they did, and shall make them suffer a hard punishment.

اور اگر ہم اس تکلیف کے بعد پھر اسے رحمت کا مزہ چکھادیں تو فورا یہ کہہ دے گا کہ یہ تو میرا حق ہے اور مجھے تو خیال بھی نہیں ہے کہ قیامت قائم ہونے والی ہے اور اگر میں پروردگار کی طرف پلٹایا بھی گیا تو میرے لئے وہاں بھی نیکیاں ہی ہیں تو پھر ہم بھی کفار کو ضرور بتائیں گے کہ انہوں نے کیا کیا, کیا ہے اور انہیں سخت عذاب کا مزہ چکھائیں گے

مگر جو ں ہی کہ سخت وقت گزر جانے کے بعد ہم اِسے اپنی رحمت کا مزا چکھاتے ہیں، یہ کہتا ہے کہ ——میں اِسی کا مستحق ہوں، اور میں نہیں سمجھتا کہ قیامت کبھی آئے گی، لیکن اگر واقعی میں اپنے رب کی طرف پلٹایا گیا تو وہاں بھی مزے کروں گا—— حالانکہ کفر کرنے والوں کو لازماً ہم بتا کر رہیں گے کہ وہ کیا کر کے آئے ہیں اور انہیں ہم بڑے گندے عذاب کا مزا چکھائیں گے

اور اگر ہم اسے کچھ اپنی رحمت کا مزہ دیں اس تکلیف کے بعد جو اسے پہنچی تھی تو کہے گا یہ تو میری ہے اور میرے گمان میں قیامت قائم نہ ہوگی اور اگر میں رب کی طرف لوٹایا بھی گیا تو ضرور میرے لیے اس کے پاس بھی خوبی ہی ہے تو ضرور ہم بتادیں گے کافروں کو جو انہوں نے کیا اور ضرور انہیں گاڑھا عذاب چکھائیں گے

اور اگر ہم اسے اس تکلیف کے بعد جو اسے پہنچتی تھی اپنی رحمت کامزہ چکھا دیتے ہیں تو وہ کہتا ہے یہ تو میرے ہی لئے ہے (میں اس کامستحق ہوں) نیز کہتا ہے کہ میں خیال نہیں کرتا کہ قیامت قائم ہوگی اور اگر میں اپنے پروردگار کی طرف کبھی لوٹایا بھی گیا تو یقیناً میرے لئے اس کے ہاں بھی بہتری ہوگی ہم کافروں کو ضرور ان کے ان اعمال سے آگاہ کریں گے جو وہ کرتے رہے اور انہیں سخت عذاب کامزہ چکھائیں گے۔

When We show favour unto man, he withdraweth and turneth aside, but when ill toucheth him then he aboundeth in prayer.

سَنُرِيهِمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا فِى ٱلْـَٔافَاقِ وَفِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۗ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِ بِرَبِّكَ أَنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ شَهِيدٌ

We shall show them Our portents on the horizons and within themselves until it will be manifest unto them that it is the Truth. Doth not thy Lord suffice, since He is Witness over all things?

This website is a work of passion. It exists only for a couple of reasons:

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.
