(Many) benefits ye have from them - and that ye may satisfy by their means a need that is in your breasts, and may be borne upon them as upon the ship. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Have they not travelled in the land to see the nature of the consequence for those before them? They were more numerous than these, and mightier in power and (in the) traces (which they left behind them) in the earth. But all that they used to earn availed them not. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And when their messengers brought them clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty) they exulted in the knowledge they (themselves) possessed. And that which they were wont to mock befell them. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

When their apostles brought them manifest proofs, they boasted about the knowledge they possessed, but they were besieged by what they used to deride. - Qarai, Ali Quli

They were far too content with their own knowledge (to pay attention to the Messengers) when Our Messengers came to them with illustrious evidence. They were encompassed by the torment for mocking Our guidance. - Sarwar, Muhammad

فَلَمْ يَكُ يَنفَعُهُمْ إِيمَٰنُهُمْ لَمَّا رَأَوْا۟ بَأْسَنَا ۖ سُنَّتَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّتِى قَدْ خَلَتْ فِى عِبَادِهِۦ ۖ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

But their faith could not avail them when they saw Our doom. This is Allah's law which hath ever taken course for His bondmen. And then the disbelievers will be ruined. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

But their faith was of no benefit to them when they sighted Our punishment—Allah]s precedent, which has passed among His servants, and it is thence that the faithless will be losers. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Their faith proved to be of no benefit to them when they became subject to Our torment. Such was God's prevailing tradition among His servants in the past. Thus were the unbelievers destroyed. - Sarwar, Muhammad

But their belief was not going to profit them when they had seen Our punishment; (this is) Allah's law, which has indeed obtained in the matter of His servants, and there the unbelievers are lost. - Shakir, Habib

but believing after seeing Our punishment did not benefit them at all: this is the law of God to deal with His creatures, and thus the disbelievers were the losers. - Wahiduddin Khan

مگر ہمارا عذاب دیکھ لینے کے بعد ان کا ایمان اُن کے لیے کچھ بھی نافع نہ ہو سکتا تھا، کیونکہ یہی اللہ کا مقرر ضابطہ ہے جو ہمیشہ اس کے بندوں میں جاری رہا ہے، اور اس وقت کافر لوگ خسارے میں پڑ گئے - Maududi, Abul A'ala
