Beside Allah? They say: They have failed us; but we used not to pray to anything before. Thus doth Allah send astray the disbelievers (in His guidance). - Pickthall, Marmaduke

besides Allah?] They will say, [They have forsaken us. No, we did not invoke anything before.] That is how Allah leads the faithless astray. - Qarai, Ali Quli

So be patient! Allah]s promise is indeed true. Whether We show you a part of what We promise them, or take you away [before that], [in any case] they will be brought back to Us. - Qarai, Ali Quli

(Muhammad), exercise patience. The promise of God is true. Whether We let you witness the suffering with which they were threatened or because of your death (you do not see them suffering,), We shall still punish them when they return to Us (on the Day of Judgment). - Sarwar, Muhammad

Verily We sent messengers before thee, among them those of whom We have told thee, and some of whom We have not told thee; and it was not given to any messenger that he should bring a portent save by Allah's leave, but when Allah's commandment cometh (the cause) is judged aright, and the followers of vanity will then be lost. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Certainly We have sent apostles before you. Of them are those We have recounted to you, and of them are those We have not recounted to you. An apostle may not bring any sign except by Allah]s permission. Hence, when Allah]s edict comes, judgment is made with justice, and it is thence that the falsifiers become losers. - Qarai, Ali Quli

We have told you the stories of some of Our Messengers whom We had sent before you and We have not told you the stories of some others. A Messenger is not supposed to show a miracle without the permission of God. When God's decree of punishment comes to pass, He will judge truthfully and the supporters of the falsehood will perish when God's decree of punishemnt comes to pass. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And certainly We sent apostles before you: there are some of them that We have mentioned to you and there are others whom We have not mentioned to you, and it was not meet for an apostle that he should bring a sign except with Allah's permission, but when the command of Allah came, judgment was given with truth, and those who treated (it) as a lie were lost. - Shakir, Habib

Before your time We sent other messengers: of them there are some whose story We have related to you, and some whose story We have not related to you. It was not [possible] for any messenger to bring a sign except by the leave of God: but when the command of God was issued, the matter was decided in truth and justice. اے نبیؐ، تم سے پہلے ہم بہت سے رسول بھیج چکے ہیں جن میں سے بعض کے حالات ہم نے تم کو بتائے ہیں اور بعض کے نہیں بتائے کسی رسول کی بھی یہ طاقت نہ تھی کہ اللہ کے اذن کے بغیر خود کوئی نشانی لے آتا پھر جب اللہ کا حکم آگیا تو حق کے مطابق فیصلہ کر دیا گیا اور اُس وقت غلط کار لوگ خسارے میں پڑ گئے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

Have they not travelled in the land to see the nature of the consequence for those before them? They were more numerous than these, and mightier in power and (in the) traces (which they left behind them) in the earth. But all that they used to earn availed them not. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And when their messengers brought them clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty) they exulted in the knowledge they (themselves) possessed. And that which they were wont to mock befell them. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

When their apostles brought them manifest proofs, they boasted about the knowledge they possessed, but they were besieged by what they used to deride. - Qarai, Ali Quli

But their faith could not avail them when they saw Our doom. This is Allah's law which hath ever taken course for His bondmen. And then the disbelievers will be ruined. - Pickthall, Marmaduke
