وَٱلَّذِينَ
And the ones who
يُنفِقُونَ
distribute
أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ
their possessions
رِئَآءَ
to show off to
ٱلنَّاسِ
the people,
وَلَا
and not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
they have conviction
بِٱللَّهِ
regarding the One
وَلَا
and not
بِٱلْيَوْمِ
regarding the day of
ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ
the forth coming;
ۗ
وَمَن
and whoever
يَكُنِ
has
ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ
the mindless one
لَهُۥ
to him
قَرِينًۭا
as a companion,
فَسَآءَ
thus has evil
قَرِينًۭا
as a companion.
٤
٣٨
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ رِئَآءَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَلَا بِٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ ۗ وَمَن يَكُنِ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ لَهُۥ قَرِينًۭا فَسَآءَ قَرِينًۭا And the ones who distribute their possessions to show off to the people, and not they have conviction regarding the One and not regarding the day of the forth coming; and whoever has the mindless one to him as a companion, thus has evil as a companion.
⦿
And (also) those who spend their wealth in order to be seen of men, and believe not in Allah nor the Last Day. Whoso taketh Satan for a comrade, a bad comrade hath he. - Pickthall, Marmaduke
⦿
And those who spend their wealth to be seen by people, and believe neither in Allah nor in the Last Day. As for him who has Satan for his companion—an evil companion is he! - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
those who spend their property out of a desire to show off and not because of their belief in God and the Day of Judgment, and (lastly) those who choose Satan for a friend; what an evil friend! - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
And those who spend their property (in alms) to be seen of the people and do not believe in Allah nor in the last day; and as for him whose associate is the Shaitan, an evil associate is he! - Shakir, Habib
⦿
And [God does not like] those who spend their wealth for the sake of ostentation, who do not believe in God or the Last Day. Whoever has Satan as his companion has an evil companion. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور جو لوگ اپنے اموال کو لوگوں کو دکھانے کے لئے خرچ کرتے ہیں اور اللہ اور آخرت پر ایمان نہیں رکھتے ہیں انہیں معلوم ہونا چاہئے کہ جس کا شیطان ساتھی ہوجائے وہ بدترین ساتھی ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور وہ لوگ بھی اللہ کو ناپسند ہیں جو اپنے مال محض لوگوں کو دکھانے کیلیے خرچ کرتے ہیں اور در حقیقت نہ اللہ پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں نہ روز آخر پر سچ یہ ہے کہ شیطان جس کا رفیق ہوا اُسے بہت ہی بری رفاقت میسر آئی - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور وہ جو اپنے مال لوگوں کے دکھاوے کو خرچ کرتے ہیں اور ایمان نہیں لاتے اللہ اور نہ قیامت پر، اور جس کا مصاحب شیطان ہوا، تو کتنا برا مصاحب ہے، - Ahmed Raza

اور جو اپنے مال صرف لوگوں کو دکھانے کے لیے خرچ کرتے ہیں دراصل وہ خدا اور روزِ جزا پر ایمان و یقین نہیں رکھتے (اللہ ایسے لوگوں کو دوست نہیں رکھتا)۔ اور جس کا مصاحب شیطان ہو۔ وہ اس کا بہت بُرا مصاحب ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

وَمَاذَا
And what would be
عَلَيْهِمْ
upon them
لَوْ
if
ءَامَنُوا۟
they have conviction
بِٱللَّهِ
regarding the One
وَٱلْيَوْمِ
and the day of
ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ
the forth coming,
وَأَنفَقُوا۟
and channelize
مِمَّا
from what
رَزَقَهُمُ
sustinance is provided to them of
ٱللَّهُ
the One?
ۚ
وَكَانَ
And has been
ٱللَّهُ
the One
بِهِمْ
about them
عَلِيمًا
knowledged.
٤
٣٩
وَمَاذَا عَلَيْهِمْ لَوْ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ وَأَنفَقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِمْ عَلِيمًا And what would be upon them if they have conviction regarding the One and the day of the forth coming, and channelize from what sustinance is provided to them of the One? And has been the One about them knowledged.

What have they (to fear) if they believe in Allah and the Last Day and spend (aright) of that which Allah hath bestowed upon them, when Allah is ever Aware of them (and all they do)? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

What harm would it have done them had they believed in Allah and the Last Day, and spent out of what Allah has provided them? Allah knows them well. - Qarai, Ali Quli

How could it have harmed them if they had believed in God and the Last Day and spent their property for the cause of God? God knows them very well - Sarwar, Muhammad

And what (harm) would it have done them if they had believed in Allah and the last day and spent (benevolently) of what Allah had given them? And Allah knows them. - Shakir, Habib

آخر اِن لوگوں پر کیا آفت آ جاتی اگر یہ اللہ اور روز آخر پر ایمان رکھتے اور جو کچھ اللہ نے دیا ہے اس میں سے خرچ کرتے اگر یہ ایسا کرتے تو اللہ سے ان کی نیکی کا حال چھپا نہ رہ جاتا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور ان کا کیا نقصان تھا اگر ایمان لاتے اللہ اور قیامت پر اور اللہ کے دیے میں سے اس کی راہ میں خرچ کرتے اور اللہ ان کو جانتا ہے، - Ahmed Raza

Surely
ٱللَّهَ
the One
لَا
not is
يَظْلِمُ
unjust
مِثْقَالَ
even as much as
ذَرَّةٍۢ
a speckle;
ۖ
وَإِن
and if
تَكُ
it was
حَسَنَةًۭ
good,
يُضَٰعِفْهَا
will increase it,
وَيُؤْتِ
and will be given
مِن
from
لَّدُنْهُ
His gentleness
أَجْرًا
a reward
عَظِيمًۭا
that is great.
٤
٤٠
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍۢ ۖ وَإِن تَكُ حَسَنَةًۭ يُضَٰعِفْهَا وَيُؤْتِ مِن لَّدُنْهُ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًۭا Surely the One not is unjust even as much as a speckle; and if it was good, will increase it, and will be given from His gentleness a reward that is great.
⦿
Lo! Allah wrongeth not even of the weight of an ant; and if there is a good deed, He will double it and will give (the doer) from His presence an immense reward. - Pickthall, Marmaduke
⦿
Indeed Allah does not wrong [anyone] [even to the extent of] an atom]s weight, and if it be a good deed He doubles it[s reward], and gives from Himself a great reward. - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
God does not do even an atom's weight of injustice. A good deed is multiplied by God and richly rewarded. - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
Surely Allah does not do injustice to the weight of an atom, and if it is a good deed He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward. - Shakir, Habib
⦿
God does not wrong anyone by as much as a grain's weight. If there be a good deed, He will repay twofold, and will bestow out of His own bounty an immense reward. - Wahiduddin Khan

اللہ کسی پر ذرہ برابر ظلم نہیں کرتا- انسان کے پاس نیکی ہوتی ہے تو اسے دوگنا کردیتا ہے اور اپنے پاس سے اجر عظیم عطا کرتا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اللہ کسی پر ذرہ برابر بھی ظلم نہیں کرتا اگر کوئی ایک نیکی کرے تو اللہ اُسے دو چند کرتا ہے اور پھر اپنی طرف سے بڑا اجر عطا فرماتا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اللہ ایک ذرہ بھر ظلم نہیں فرماتا اور اگر کوئی نیکی ہو تو اسے دونی کرتا اور اپنے پاس سے بڑا ثواب دیتا ہے، - Ahmed Raza

فَكَيْفَ
So how will it be
إِذَا
when
جِئْنَا
We bring forth
مِن
from
كُلِّ
all
أُمَّةٍۭ
nations
بِشَهِيدٍۢ
with witnesses,
وَجِئْنَا
and We bring forth
بِكَ
through you
عَلَىٰ
upon
هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
those
شَهِيدًۭا
as a witness?
٤
٤١
فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۭ بِشَهِيدٍۢ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَىٰ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ شَهِيدًۭا So how will it be when We bring forth from all nations with witnesses, and We bring forth through you upon those as a witness?
⦿
But how (will it be with them) when We bring of every people a witness, and We bring thee (O Muhammad) a witness against these? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

So how shall it be, when We bring a witness from every nation and We bring you as a witness to them? - Qarai, Ali Quli

How will it be when We call for a witness from every nation and have you, (Muhammad), testify against them all? - Sarwar, Muhammad

How will it be, then, when We bring from every people a witness and bring you as a witness against these? - Shakir, Habib

What will they do when We bring a witness from each community and bring you as a witness against these people? - Wahiduddin Khan

اس وقت کیا ہوگا جب ہم ہر امت کو اس کے گواہ کے ساتھ بلائیں گے اور پیغمبر آ پ کو ان سب کا گواہ بناکر بلائیں گے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

پھر سوچو کہ اُس وقت یہ کیا کریں گے جب ہم ہر امت میں سے ایک گواہ لائیں گے اور اِن لوگوں پر تمہیں (یعنی محمد ﷺ کو) گواہ کی حیثیت سے کھڑا کریں گے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

تو کیسی ہوگی جب ہم ہر امت سے ایک گواہ لائیں اور اے محبوب! تمہیں ان سب پر گواہ اور نگہبان بناکر لائیں - Ahmed Raza

يَوْمَئِذٍۢ
That would be the day
يَوَدُّ
when will wish
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
كَفَرُوا۟
are in denial,
وَعَصَوُا۟
and rebelled against
ٱلرَّسُولَ
the Messenger,
لَوْ
that
تُسَوَّىٰ
flattens
بِهِمُ
with them
ٱلْأَرْضُ
the land,
وَلَا
and not
يَكْتُمُونَ
they can hide from
ٱللَّهَ
the One
حَدِيثًۭا
any narration.
٤
٤٢
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ يَوَدُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَعَصَوُا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ لَوْ تُسَوَّىٰ بِهِمُ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَلَا يَكْتُمُونَ ٱللَّهَ حَدِيثًۭا That would be the day when will wish the ones who are in denial, and rebelled against the Messenger, that flattens with them the land, and not they can hide from the One any narration.
⦿
On that day those who disbelieved and disobeyed the messenger will wish that they were level with the ground, and they can hide no fact from Allah. - Pickthall, Marmaduke
⦿
On that day those who were faithless and [who] disobeyed the Apostle will wish the earth were levelled with them, and they will not conceal any matter from Allah. - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
At that time the disbelievers who disobeyed the Messenger will wish that they could be turned into dust and they will be able to hide nothing from God. - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
On that day will those who disbelieve and disobey the Apostle desire that the earth were levelled with them, and they shall not hide any word from Allah. - Shakir, Habib
⦿
On that Day, those who were bent on denying the truth and disobeyed the Messenger will wish that the earth were made level above them. They will not be able to hide anything from God. - Wahiduddin Khan

اس دن جن لوگوں نے کفر اختیار کیا ہے اور رسول کی نافرمانی کی ہے یہ خواہش کریں گے کہ اے کاش ان کے اوپر سے زمین برابر کردی جاتی اور وہ خدا سے کسی بات کو نہیں چھپا سکتے ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اُس وقت وہ سب لوگ جنہوں نے رسولؐ کی بات نہ مانی اور اس کی نافرمانی کرتے رہے، تمنا کریں گے کہ کاش زمین پھٹ جائے اور وہ اس میں سما جائیں وہاں یہ اپنی کوئی بات اللہ سے نہ چھپا سکیں گے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اس دن تمنا کریں گے وہ جنہوں نے کفر کیا اور رسول کی نافرمانی کی کاش انہیں مٹی میں دبا کر زمین برابر کردی جائے، اور کوئی بات اللہ سے نہ چھپاسکیں گے - Ahmed Raza

اس دن کافر اور پیغمبر کے نافرمان تمنا کریں گے کہ کاش وہ زمین کے برابر کر دیئے جاتے۔ اور وہ اللہ سے کوئی بات چھپا نہ سکیں گے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you of
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe!
لَا
Do not
تَقْرَبُوا۟
come to
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
the assembly (community meeting)
وَأَنتُمْ
while you are
سُكَٰرَىٰ
mentally incapacitated
حَتَّىٰ
until
تَعْلَمُوا۟
you know
مَا
what
تَقُولُونَ
you are saying,
وَلَا
and do not (come to the assembly)
جُنُبًا
being biased
إِلَّا
except
عَابِرِى
being an expert
سَبِيلٍ
of a way,
حَتَّىٰ
until
تَغْتَسِلُوا۟
you clean yourself (of biasness);
ۚ
وَإِن
and if
كُنتُم
you happened to be
مَّرْضَىٰٓ
ill,
أَوْ
or
عَلَىٰ
upon
سَفَرٍ
a journey,
أَوْ
or
جَآءَ
came
أَحَدٌۭ
one
مِّنكُم
of you
مِّنَ
from
ٱلْغَآئِطِ
the lower level,
أَوْ
or
لَٰمَسْتُمُ
you can sense
ٱلنِّسَآءَ
the weakness,
فَلَمْ
thus if not
تَجِدُوا۟
you find
مَآءًۭ
an essence
فَتَيَمَّمُوا۟
then reach out to
صَعِيدًۭا
a level
طَيِّبًۭا
that is good,
فَٱمْسَحُوا۟
then do analysis
بِوُجُوهِكُمْ
regarding your targets
وَأَيْدِيكُمْ
and your strengths,
ۗ
إِنَّ
assuredly
ٱللَّهَ
the One
كَانَ
is
عَفُوًّا
pardoning,
غَفُورًا
forgiving.
٤
٤٣
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَقْرَبُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَنتُمْ سُكَٰرَىٰ حَتَّىٰ تَعْلَمُوا۟ مَا تَقُولُونَ وَلَا جُنُبًا إِلَّا عَابِرِى سَبِيلٍ حَتَّىٰ تَغْتَسِلُوا۟ ۚ وَإِن كُنتُم مَّرْضَىٰٓ أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ أَوْ جَآءَ أَحَدٌۭ مِّنكُم مِّنَ ٱلْغَآئِطِ أَوْ لَٰمَسْتُمُ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فَلَمْ تَجِدُوا۟ مَآءًۭ فَتَيَمَّمُوا۟ صَعِيدًۭا طَيِّبًۭا فَٱمْسَحُوا۟ بِوُجُوهِكُمْ وَأَيْدِيكُمْ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَفُوًّا غَفُورًا O you of the ones who believe! Do not come to the assembly (community meeting) while you are mentally incapacitated until you know what you are saying, and do not (come to the assembly) being biased except being an expert of a way, until you clean yourself (of biasness); and if you happened to be ill, or upon a journey, or came one of you from the lower level, or you can sense the weakness, thus if not you find an essence then reach out to a level that is good, then do analysis regarding your targets and your strengths, assuredly the One is pardoning, forgiving.
⦿
O ye who believe! Draw not near unto prayer when ye are drunken, till ye know that which ye utter, nor when ye are polluted, save when journeying upon the road, till ye have bathed. And if ye be ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from the closet, or ye have touched women, and ye find not water, then go to high clean soil and rub your faces and your hands (therewith). Lo! Allah is Benign, Forgiving. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

O you who have faith! Do not approach prayer when you are intoxicated, [not] until you know what you are saying, nor [enter mosques] in the state of ritual impurity until you have washed yourselves, except while passing through. But if you are sick or on a journey, or any of you has come from the toilet, or you have touched women, and you cannot find water, then make your ablution on clean ground and wipe a part of your faces and your hands. Indeed Allah is all-excusing, all-forgiving. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Believers, do not pray when you are drunk, but, instead, wait until you can understand what you say. Also, do not pray when you have experienced a seminal discharge until after you have taken a bath, unless you are on a journey. If, while sick or on a journey, you can find no water after having defecated or after having had carnal relations, perform tayammum by touching your palms on the pure earth and wipe the (upper part of) your face and the backs of your hands. O you who believe! do not go near prayer when you are Intoxicated until you know (well) what you say, nor when you are under an obligation to perform a bath-- unless (you are) travelling on the road-- until you have washed yourselves; and if you are sick, or on a journey, or one of you come from the privy or you have touched the women, and you cannot find water, betake yourselves to pure earth, then wipe your faces and your hands; surely Allah is Pardoning, Forgiving. - Shakir, Habib

Believers, do not approach your prayers when you are drunk, until you understand what you say, nor when you are in a state of impurity, -- except when you are on a journey -- till you have bathed. And if you are ill, or on a journey or have relieved yourselves or when you have consorted with women and you cannot find any water, then find some clean sand and wipe your face and your hands with it. ایمان والو خبر دار نشہ کی حالت میں نماز کے قریب بھی نہ جانا جب تک یہ ہوش نہ آجائے کہ تم کیا کہہ رہے ہو اور جنابت کی حالت میں بھی مگر یہ کہ راستہ سے گزر رہے ہو جب تک غسل نہ کرلو اور اگر بیمار ہو یا سفر کی حالت میں ہو اور کسی کے پیخانہ نکل آئے, یا عورتوں سے باہمی جنسی ربط قائم ہوجائے اور پانی نہ ملے تو پاک مٹی سے تمیم کرلو اس طرح کہ اپنے چہروں اور ہاتھوں پر مسح کرلو بیشک خدا بہت معاف کرنے والا اور بخشنے والا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اے لوگو جو ایمان لائے ہو، جب تم نشے کی حالت میں ہو تو نماز کے قریب نہ جاؤ نماز اُس وقت پڑھنی چاہیے، جب تم جانو کہ کیا کہہ رہے ہو اور اسی طرح جنابت کی حالت میں بھی نماز کے قریب نہ جاؤ جب تک کہ غسل نہ کر لو، الا یہ کہ راستہ سے گزرتے ہو اور اگر کبھی ایسا ہو کہ تم بیمار ہو، یا سفر میں ہو، یا تم میں سے کوئی شخص رفع حاجت کر کے آئے، یا تم نے عورتوں سے لمس کیا ہو، اور پھر پانی نہ ملے تو پاک مٹی سے کام لو اور اس سے اپنے چہروں اور ہاتھوں پر مسح کر لو، بے شک اللہ نرمی سے کام لینے والا اور بخشش فرمانے والا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

Do not

you see

ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
أُوتُوا۟
were given
نَصِيبًۭا
a portion
مِّنَ
from
ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
the Book
يَشْتَرُونَ
purchasing
ٱلضَّلَٰلَةَ
the darkness,
وَيُرِيدُونَ
and desiring
أَن
that
تَضِلُّوا۟
they make dark
ٱلسَّبِيلَ
the path?
٤
٤٤
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ نَصِيبًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ يَشْتَرُونَ ٱلضَّلَٰلَةَ وَيُرِيدُونَ أَن تَضِلُّوا۟ ٱلسَّبِيلَ Do not you see at the ones who were given a portion from the Book purchasing the darkness, and desiring that they make dark the path?

Seest thou not those unto whom a portion of the Scripture hath been given, how they purchase error, and seek to make you (Muslims) err from the right way? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Have you not regarded those who were given a share of the Book, who purchase error and desire that you [too] should lose the way? - Qarai, Ali Quli

Have you seen those who had received a portion of the Book trade misguidance and try to make you, too, go astray? - Sarwar, Muhammad

And the One is
أَعْلَمُ
knowledgeful
بِأَعْدَآئِكُمْ
regarding what you are habitual of;
ۚ
وَكَفَىٰ
and suffice
بِٱللَّهِ
with the One
وَلِيًّۭا
as a protector,
وَكَفَىٰ
and suffice
بِٱللَّهِ
with the One
نَصِيرًۭا
as helper.
And the One is knowledgeful regarding what you are habitual of; and suffice with the One as a protector, and suffice with the One as helper.

Allah knoweth best (who are) your enemies. Allah is sufficient as a Guardian, and Allah is sufficient as a Supporter. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

intimidate
يُحَرِّفُونَ
are those who contort
ٱلْكَلِمَ
the communication
عَن

مَّوَاضِعِهِۦ
its subject
وَيَقُولُونَ
and they assert,
سَمِعْنَا
[We hear,
وَعَصَيْنَا
and we defy!]
وَٱسْمَعْ
and, [Listen
غَيْرَ
to that which is not
مُسْمَعٍۢ
being said],
وَرَٰعِنَا
and [Take care of us],
لَيًّۢا
twisting
بِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْ
through their languages
وَطَعْنًۭا
and inserting
فِى
in
ٱلدِّينِ
the governance system;
ۚ
وَلَوْ
and if it
أَنَّهُمْ
had been that
قَالُوا۟
they said,
سَمِعْنَا
[We hear
وَأَطَعْنَا
and we obey]
وَٱسْمَعْ
and, [Listen
وَٱنظُرْنَا
and watch us],
لَكَانَ
for sure had been
خَيْرًۭا
better
لَّهُمْ
for them
وَأَقْوَمَ
and steady,
وَلَٰكِن
but it is that
لَّعَنَهُمُ
they are cursed by
ٱللَّهُ
the One
بِكُفْرِهِمْ
due to their denial,
فَلَا
so not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
they are convinced
إِلَّا
except
قَلِيلًۭا
a few.
٤
٤٦
مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ يُحَرِّفُونَ ٱلْكَلِمَ عَن مَّوَاضِعِهِۦ وَيَقُولُونَ سَمِعْنَا وَعَصَيْنَا وَٱسْمَعْ غَيْرَ مُسْمَعٍۢ وَرَٰعِنَا لَيًّۢا بِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْ وَطَعْنًۭا فِى ٱلدِّينِ ۚ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا وَٱسْمَعْ وَٱنظُرْنَا لَكَانَ خَيْرًۭا لَّهُمْ وَأَقْوَمَ وَلَٰكِن لَّعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا From the ones who intimidate are those who contort the communication from its subject and they assert, [We hear, and we defy!] and, [Listen to that which is not being said], and [Take care of us], twisting through their languages and inserting in the governance system; and if it had been that they said, [We hear and we obey] and, [Listen and watch us], for sure had been better for them and steady, but it is that they are cursed by the One due to their denial, so not they are convinced except a few.

Some of those who are Jews change words from their context and say: [We hear and disobey; hear thou as one who heareth not] and [Listen to us!] distorting with their tongues and slandering religion. If they had said: [We hear and we obey: hear thou, and look at us] it had been better for them, and more upright. But Allah hath cursed them for their disbelief, so they believe not, save a few. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Among the Jews are those who pervert words from their meanings and say, [We hear and disobey] and [Hear without listening!] and [Ra]ina,] twisting their tongues and reviling the faith. But had they said, [We hear and obey] and [Listen] and [Unzurna,] it would have been better for them and more upright. But Allah has cursed them for their faithlessness, so they will not believe except a few. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Some Jews take certain words out of context and by twisting their tongues to make a jest out of the true religion, say, [We heard and (in our hearts) disobeyed. (Muhammad) ra`ina (be kind to us) but they intend thereby (the meaning in their own language): [Listen! May God turn you deaf.] They should have said, [We heard and obeyed. (Muhammad) listen and consider our question.] This would have been better for them and more righteous. God has condemned them for their disbelief, thus, no one, except a few among them, will have faith. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Of those who are Jews (there are those who) alter words from their places and say: We have heard and we disobey and: Hear, may you not be made to hear! and: Raina, distorting (the word) with their tongues and taunting about religion; and if they had said (instead): We have heard and we obey, and hearken, and unzurna it would have been better for them and more upright; but Allah has cursed them on account of their unbelief, so they do not believe but a little. - Shakir, Habib

But if they had said, [We hear and we obey,] and [Listen to us and look at us with favour,] that would have been better and more proper for them. God has rejected them for their defiance so that they shall not believe, except a few of them. - Wahiduddin Khan

یہودیوں میں وہ لوگ بھی ہیں جو کلمات الٰہٰیہ کو ان کی جگہ سے ہٹا دیتے ہیں اور کہتے ہیں کہ ہم نے بات سنی اور نافرمانی کی اور تم بھی سنو مگر تمہاری بات نہ سنی جائے گی یہ سب زبان کے توڑ مروڑ اور دین میں طعنُہ زنی کی بنا پر ہوتا ہے حالانکہ اگر یہ لوگ یہ کہتے کہ ہم نے سنا اور اطاعت کی آپ بھی سنئے اور نظ» کرم کیجئے تو ان کے حق میں بہتر اور مناسب تھا لیکن خدا نے ان کے کفر کی بنا پر ان پر لعنت کی ہے تو یہ ایمان نہ لائیں گے مگر بہت قلیل تعداد میں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

جو لوگ یہودی بن گئے ہیں اُن میں کچھ لوگ ہیں جو الفاظ کو اُن کے محل سے پھیر دیتے ہیں اور دین حق کے خلاف نیش زنی کرنے کے لیے اپنی زبانوں کو توڑ موڑ کر کہتے ہیں سَمِعنَا وَ عَصَینَا اور اِسمَع غَیر مُسمَع اور رَاعِنَا حالانکہ اگر وہ کہتے سَمِعنَا وَ اَطَعنَا، اور اِسمَع اور اُنظُرنَا تو یہ انہی کے لیے بہتر تھا اور زیادہ راستبازی کا طریقہ تھا مگر ان پر تو ان کی باطل پرستی کی بدولت اللہ کی پھٹکار پڑی ہوئی ہے اس لیے وہ کم ہی ایمان لاتے ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

کچھ یہودی کلاموں کو ان کی جگہ سے پھیرتے ہیں اور کہتے ہیں ہم نے سنا اور نہ مانا اور سنیئے آپ سنائے نہ جائیں اور راعنا کہتے ہیں زبانیں پھیر کر اور دین میں طعنہ کے لئے اور اگر وہ کہتے کہ ہم نے سنا اور مانا اور حضور ہماری بات سنیں اور حضور ہم پر نظر فرمائیں تو ان کے لئے بھلائی اور راستی میں زیادہ ہوتا لیکن ان پر تو اللہ نے لعنت کی ان کے کفر کے سبب تو یقین نہیں رکھتے مگر تھوڑا - Ahmed Raza

یہودیوں میں سے کچھ ایسے بھی ہیں جو کلموں کو ان کے موقع و محل سے پھیر دیتے ہیں اور زبانوں کو توڑ موڑ کر اور دین پر اعتراض کرتے ہوئے کہتے ہیں کہ ’’سمعنا و عصینا‘‘ (ہم نے سنا مگر مانا نہیں) اور ’’اسمع غیر مسمع‘‘ (اور سنو تمہاری بات نہ سنی جائے) اور ’’راعنا‘‘ (ہمارا لحاظ کرو)۔ اگر وہ اس کی بجائے یوں کہتے ’’سمعنا و اطعنا‘‘ (ہم نے سنا اور مانا) اور ‘‘اسمع‘‘ (اور سنیئے) ‘‘وانظرنا‘‘ (اور ہماری طرف دیکھئے) تو یہ ان کے لئے بہتر اور زیادہ درست ہوتا۔ مگر اللہ نے کفر کی وجہ سے ان پر لعنت کی ہے (اپنی رحمت سے دور کر دیا ہے) اس لئے وہ بہت کم ایمان لائیں گے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

ءَامِنُوا۟
Have conviction
بِمَا
with what
نَزَّلْنَا
We alighted —
مُصَدِّقًۭا
a confirmation
لِّمَا
for what is
مَعَكُم
with you —
مِّن
from
قَبْلِ
before
أَن
that
نَّطْمِسَ
We blur out
وُجُوهًۭا
reasonings,
فَنَرُدَّهَا
and We discard them
عَلَىٰٓ
upon
أَدْبَارِهَآ
their backs,
أَوْ
or
نَلْعَنَهُمْ
We curse them
كَمَا
as were
لَعَنَّآ
cursed
أَصْحَٰبَ
people of
ٱلسَّبْتِ
the laziness (Sabath);
ۚ
وَكَانَ
and has been
أَمْرُ
command of
ٱللَّهِ
the One
مَفْعُولًا
in effect.
٤
٤٧
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِمَا نَزَّلْنَا مُصَدِّقًۭا لِّمَا مَعَكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن نَّطْمِسَ وُجُوهًۭا فَنَرُدَّهَا عَلَىٰٓ أَدْبَارِهَآ أَوْ نَلْعَنَهُمْ كَمَا لَعَنَّآ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلسَّبْتِ ۚ وَكَانَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ مَفْعُولًا O you of the ones who have been given the Book! Have conviction with what We alighted — a confirmation for what is with you — from before that We blur out reasonings, and We discard them upon their backs, or We curse them as were cursed people of the laziness (Sabath); and has been command of the One in effect.

O ye unto whom the Scripture hath been given! Believe in what We have revealed confirming that which ye possess, before We destroy countenances so as to confound them, or curse them as We cursed the Sabbath-breakers (of old time). The commandment of Allah is always executed. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

O you who were given the Book! Believe in what We have sent down confirming what is with you, before We blot out the faces and turn them backwards, or curse them as We cursed the People of the Sabbath, and Allah]s command is bound to be fulfilled. - Qarai, Ali Quli

People of the Book, have faith in the Quran that We have revealed to confirm your Book, before certain faces are changed and turned back. We shall condemn them as We did the people of the Sabbath about whom God's decree had decisively been ordained. - Sarwar, Muhammad

O you who have been given the Book! believe that which We have revealed, verifying what you have, before We alter faces then turn them on their backs, or curse them as We cursed the violaters of the Sabbath, and the command of Allah shall be executed. - Shakir, Habib

O People of the Book, believe in what We have sent down, fulfilling [the predictions] that is with you, before We destroy [your sense of] direction, so as to confound or reject you, as We rejected those who broke the Sabbath: God's command is always carried out. - Wahiduddin Khan

اے وہ لوگ جنہیں کتاب دی گئی ہے ہمارے نازل کئے ہوئے قرآن پر ایمان لے آؤ جو تمہاری کتابوں کی تصدیق کرنے والا ہے قبل اس کے کہ ہم تمھارے چہروں کو بگاڑ کر پشت کی طرف پھیر دیں یا ان پر اس طرح لعنت کریں جس طرح ہم نے اصحابِ سبت پر لعنت کی ہے اور اللہ کا حکم بہرحال نافذ ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اے وہ لوگو جنہیں کتاب دی گئی تھی! مان لو اُس کتاب کو جو ہم نے اب نازل کی ہے اور جو اُس کتاب کی تصدیق و تائید کرتی ہے جو تمہارے پاس پہلے سے موجود تھی اس پر ایمان لے آؤ قبل اس کے کہ ہم چہر ے بگاڑ کر پیچھے پھیر دیں یا ان کو اسی طرح لعنت زدہ کر دیں جس طرح سبت والوں کے ساتھ ہم نے کیا تھا، اور یاد رکھو کہ اللہ کا حکم نافذ ہو کر رہتا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اے کتاب والو! ایمان لاؤ اس پر جو ہم نے اتارا تمہارے ساتھ والی کتاب کی تصدیق فرماتا قبل اس کے کہ ہم بگاڑ دیں کچھ مونہوں کو تو انہیں پھیر دیں ان کی پیٹھ کی طرف یا انہیں لعنت کریں جیسی لعنت کی ہفتہ والوں پر اور خدا کا حکم ہوکر رہے، - Ahmed Raza

إِنَّ
Surely
ٱللَّهَ
the One
لَا
not
يَغْفِرُ
forgives
أَن
that
يُشْرَكَ
there be addition
بِهِۦ
with Him,
وَيَغْفِرُ
and He forgives
مَا
what is
دُونَ
beneath
ذَٰلِكَ
that
لِمَن
for whoever
يَشَآءُ
He desires;
ۚ
وَمَن
and whoever
يُشْرِكْ
adds
بِٱللَّهِ
with the One,
فَقَدِ
thus certainly
ٱفْتَرَىٰٓ
has invented
إِثْمًا
a crime
عَظِيمًا
that is major.
٤
٤٨
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَن يُشْرَكَ بِهِۦ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدِ ٱفْتَرَىٰٓ إِثْمًا عَظِيمًا Surely the One not forgives that there be addition with Him, and He forgives what is beneath that for whoever He desires; and whoever adds with the One, thus certainly has invented a crime that is major.

Lo! Allah forgiveth not that a partner should be ascribed unto Him. He forgiveth (all) save that to whom He will. Whoso ascribeth partners to Allah, he hath indeed invented a tremendous sin. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Indeed Allah does not forgive that partners should be ascribed to Him, but He forgives anything besides that to whomever He wishes. Whoever ascribes partners to Allah has indeed fabricated [a lie] in great sinfulness. - Qarai, Ali Quli

God does not forgive the sin of considering others equal to Him, but He may choose to forgive other sins. Whoever believes in other gods besides Him has indulged in a great sin. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Surely Allah does not forgive that anything should be associated with Him, and forgives what is besides that to whomsoever He pleases; and whoever associates anything with Allah, he devises indeed a great sin. - Shakir, Habib

God will not forgive anyone for associating something with Him, while He will forgive whoever He wishes for anything besides that. Whoever ascribes partners to God is guilty of a monstrous sin. - Wahiduddin Khan

اللہ اس بات کو معاف نہیں کرسکتا کہ اس کا شریک قرار دیا جائے اور اس کے علاوہ جس کو چاہے بخش سکتا ہے اور جو بھی اس کا شریک بنائے گا اس نے بہت بڑا گناہ کیا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اللہ بس شرک ہی کو معاف نہیں کرتا، اِس کے ماسوا دوسرے جس قدر گناہ ہیں وہ جس کے لیے چاہتا ہے معاف کر دیتا ہے اللہ کے ساتھ جس نے کسی اور کو شریک ٹھیرایا اُس نے تو بہت ہی بڑا جھوٹ تصنیف کیا اور بڑے سخت گناہ کی بات کی - Maududi, Abul A'ala

بیشک اللہ اسے نہیں بخشتا کہ اس کے ساتھ کفر کیا جائے اور کفر سے نیچے جو کچھ ہے جسے چاہے معاف فرمادیتا ہے اور جس نے خدا کا شریک ٹھہرایا اس نے بڑا گناہ کا طوفان باندھا، - Ahmed Raza

Do you not
تَرَ
see
إِلَى
at
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
يُزَكُّونَ
emancipate
أَنفُسَهُم
their psyches?
ۚ
بَلِ
On the contrary,
ٱللَّهُ
the One
يُزَكِّى
emancipates
مَن
who
يَشَآءُ
He desires,
وَلَا
and not
يُظْلَمُونَ
they will be done injustice to
فَتِيلًا
even a little bit.
٤
٤٩
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يُزَكُّونَ أَنفُسَهُم ۚ بَلِ ٱللَّهُ يُزَكِّى مَن يَشَآءُ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ فَتِيلًا Do you not see at the ones who emancipate their psyches? On the contrary, the One emancipates who He desires, and not they will be done injustice to even a little bit.

Hast thou not seen those who praise themselves for purity? Nay, Allah purifieth whom He will, and they will not be wronged even the hair upon a date-stone. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Have you not regarded those who style themselves as pure? Indeed, it is Allah who purifies whomever He wishes, and they will not be wronged [so much as] a single date-thread. - Qarai, Ali Quli

(Muhammad), have you seen those who try to purify themselves? They should know that God only purifies whomever He wants and that the slightest wrong will not be done to such people. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Have you not considered those who attribute purity to themselves? Nay, Allah purifies whom He pleases; and they shall not be wronged the husk of a date stone. - Shakir, Habib

Have you not seen those who consider themselves pure? It is indeed God who purifies whoever He pleases and none shall be wronged by as much as a hair's breadth. - Wahiduddin Khan

تم نے اُن لوگوں کو بھی دیکھا جو بہت اپنی پاکیز گی نفس کا دم بھرتے ہیں؟ حالانکہ پاکیزگی تو اللہ ہی جسے چاہتا ہے عطا کرتا ہے، اور (انہیں جو پاکیزگی نہیں ملتی تو در حقیقت) ان پر ذرہ برابر بھی ظلم نہیں کیا جاتا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

يَفْتَرُونَ
they invent
عَلَى
upon
ٱللَّهِ
the One
ٱلْكَذِبَ
the lie;
ۖ
وَكَفَىٰ
and suffice
بِهِۦٓ
with it
إِثْمًۭا
as a crime
مُّبِينًا
that is clear.
See how they invent upon the One the lie; and suffice with it as a crime that is clear.

See, how they invent lies about Allah! That of itself is flagrant sin. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

أَلَمْ
Do not
تَرَ
you see
إِلَى
at
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
أُوتُوا۟
were given
نَصِيبًۭا
a share
مِّنَ
from
ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
the Book,
يُؤْمِنُونَ
they are convinced
بِٱلْجِبْتِ
about the jibt ones (shamans / future tellers / saadhu / sufi / enchanters)
وَٱلطَّٰغُوتِ
and the taghoot ones (rebellious / peer / murshid)
وَيَقُولُونَ
and they say
لِلَّذِينَ
(favouring) for the ones
كَفَرُوا۟
who deny,
هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
[These are
أَهْدَىٰ
better guided ones
مِنَ
from
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
ءَامَنُوا۟
are convinced of
سَبِيلًا
a path.]

٥١
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ نَصِيبًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْجِبْتِ وَٱلطَّٰغُوتِ وَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ أَهْدَىٰ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ سَبِيلًا Do not you see at the ones who were given a share from the Book, they are convinced about the jibt ones (shamans / future tellers / saadhu / sufi / enchanters) and the taghoot ones (rebellious / peer / murshid) and they say (favouring) for the ones who deny, [These are better guided ones from the ones who are convinced of a path.]

Hast thou not seen those unto whom a portion of the Scripture hath been given, how they believe in idols and false deities, and how they say of those (idolaters) who disbelieve: [These are more rightly guided than those who believe]? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Have you not regarded those who were given a share of the Book, believing in idols and fake deities and saying of the pagans: [These are better guided on the way than the faithful]? - Qarai, Ali Quli

Have you seen how those who had been given a share of the Book believe in idols and Satan and who say, [The disbelievers are better guided than the believers]. - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
Have you not seen those to whom a portion of the Book has been given? They believe in idols and false deities and say of those who disbelieve: These are better guided in the path than those who believe. - Shakir, Habib

Have you not seen those who were in possession of a portion of the Book? They believe in idols and devils. They say of those who deny the truth, [They are more rightly guided than the believers.] - Wahiduddin Khan

کیا تم نے نہیں دیکھا کہ جن لوگوں کو کتاب کا کچھ حصہّ دے دیا گیا وہ شیطان اور بتوں پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں اور کفار کو بھی بتاتے ہیں کہ یہ لوگ ایمان والوں سے زیادہ سیدھے راستے پر ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

کیا تم نے اُن لوگوں کو نہیں دیکھا جنہیں کتاب کے علم میں سے کچھ حصہ دیا گیا ہے اور اُن کا حال یہ ہے کہ جِبت اور طاغوت کو مانتے ہیں اور کافروں کے متعلق کہتے ہیں کہ ایمان لانے والوں سے تو یہی زیادہ صحیح راستے پر ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
Those are
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
لَعَنَهُمُ
carry curse upon themselves of
ٱللَّهُ
the One;
ۖ
وَمَن
and whoever
يَلْعَنِ
is cursed by
ٱللَّهُ
the One
فَلَن
then not
تَجِدَ
you will find
لَهُۥ
for him
نَصِيرًا
any helper.
Those are the ones who carry curse upon themselves of the One; and whoever is cursed by the One then not you will find for him any helper.

the kingdom,
فَإِذًۭا

they would give to
ٱلنَّاسَ
the people
نَقِيرًا
a grain.
If was for them a portion from the kingdom, then even then not they would give to the people a grain.
