Allah loveth not the utterance of harsh speech save by one who hath been wronged. Allah is ever Hearer, Knower. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Allah does not like the disclosure of [anyone]s] evil [conduct] in speech except by someone who has been wronged, and Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Surely
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
يَكْفُرُونَ
have been denying
بِٱللَّهِ
about the One
وَرُسُلِهِۦ
and His messengers
وَيُرِيدُونَ
and look for
أَن
that
يُفَرِّقُوا۟
they may distinguish
بَيْنَ
between
ٱللَّهِ
the One
وَرُسُلِهِۦ
and His messengers,
وَيَقُولُونَ
and they say,
نُؤْمِنُ
[We believe
بِبَعْضٍۢ
about somethings,
وَنَكْفُرُ
and we deny
بِبَعْضٍۢ
about somethings.]
وَيُرِيدُونَ
and they look for
أَن
that
يَتَّخِذُوا۟
they may take
بَيْنَ
between
ذَٰلِكَ
that
سَبِيلًا
a way.
٤
١٥٠
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكْفُرُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَيُرِيدُونَ أَن يُفَرِّقُوا۟ بَيْنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَيَقُولُونَ نُؤْمِنُ بِبَعْضٍۢ وَنَكْفُرُ بِبَعْضٍۢ وَيُرِيدُونَ أَن يَتَّخِذُوا۟ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ سَبِيلًا Surely the ones who have been denying about the One and His messengers and look for that they may distinguish between the One and His messengers, and they say, [We believe about somethings, and we deny about somethings.] and they look for that they may take between that a way.

Lo! those who disbelieve in Allah and His messengers, and seek to make distinction between Allah and His messengers, and say: We believe in some and disbelieve in others, and seek to choose a way in between; - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Those who disbelieve in Allah and His apostles and seek to separate Allah from His apostles, and say, [We believe in some and disbelieve in some] and seek to take a way in between - Qarai, Ali Quli

Those who disbelieve in God and His Messengers try to create differences between God and His Messengers (by rejecting their message). They say, [We believe in some but not in others.] Thus, they try to find a middle way - Sarwar, Muhammad

Surely those who disbelieve in Allah and His apostles and (those who) desire to make a distinction between Allah and His apostles and say: We believe in some and disbelieve in others, and desire to take a course between (this and) that. - Shakir, Habib

Those who deny God and His messengers and seek to make a distinction between God and His messengers and say, [We believe in some messengers and disbelieve in others], and desire to adopt a position in between. - Wahiduddin Khan

Those
هُمُ
are
ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ
the ones who are in denial
حَقًّۭا
factually;
ۚ
وَأَعْتَدْنَا
and We are preparing
لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ
for the deniers
عَذَابًۭا
a pain of
مُّهِينًۭا
humiliation.
Those are the ones who are in denial factually; and We are preparing for the deniers a pain of humiliation.

Such are disbelievers in truth; and for disbelievers We prepare a shameful doom. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

—it is they who are truly faithless, and We have prepared for the faithless a humiliating punishment. - Qarai, Ali Quli

وَٱلَّذِينَ
And the ones
ءَامَنُوا۟
who have peace of mind
بِٱللَّهِ
regarding the One
وَرُسُلِهِۦ
and His messengers,
وَلَمْ
and not
يُفَرِّقُوا۟
they distinguish (or form sects)
بَيْنَ
between
أَحَدٍۢ
any
مِّنْهُمْ
of them
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
they
سَوْفَ
will be
يُؤْتِيهِمْ
given by Him
أُجُورَهُمْ
their reward,
ۗ
وَكَانَ
and has been
ٱللَّهُ
the One
غَفُورًۭا
forgiving,
رَّحِيمًۭا
merciful.
٤
١٥٢
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَلَمْ يُفَرِّقُوا۟ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍۢ مِّنْهُمْ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ سَوْفَ يُؤْتِيهِمْ أُجُورَهُمْ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًۭا And the ones who have peace of mind regarding the One and His messengers, and not they distinguish (or form sects) between any of them they will be given by Him their reward, and has been the One forgiving, merciful.

But those who believe in Allah and His messengers and make no distinction between any of them, unto them Allah will give their wages; and Allah was ever Forgiving, Merciful. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

But those who have faith in Allah and His apostles and make no distinction between any of them—them He will soon give their rewards, and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful. - Qarai, Ali Quli

As for those who believe in God and make no distinction between His Messengers, they will receive His reward. God is All-forgiving and All-merciful. - Sarwar, Muhammad

بخلاف اس کے جو لوگ اللہ اور ا س کے تمام رسولوں کو مانیں، اور اُن کے درمیان تفریق نہ کریں، اُن کو ہم ضرور اُن کے اجر عطا کریں گے، اور اللہ بڑا درگزر فرمانے والا اور رحم کرنے والا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور وہ جو اللہ اور اس کے سب رسولوں پر ایمان لائے اور ان میں سے کسی پر ایمان میں فرق نہ کیا انہیں عنقریب اللہ ان کے ثواب دے گا اور اللہ بخشنے والا مہربان ہے - Ahmed Raza

ٱلْعِجْلَ

جَآءَتْهُمُ

ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتُ

فَعَفَوْنَا

عَن

ذَٰلِكَ

وَءَاتَيْنَا

مُوسَىٰ

سُلْطَٰنًۭا

مُّبِينًۭا

١٥٣
يَسْـَٔلُكَ أَهْلُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ أَن تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ كِتَٰبًۭا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ۚ فَقَدْ سَأَلُوا۟ مُوسَىٰٓ أَكْبَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَرِنَا ٱللَّهَ جَهْرَةًۭ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّٰعِقَةُ بِظُلْمِهِمْ ۚ ثُمَّ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ ٱلْعِجْلَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتُ فَعَفَوْنَا عَن ذَٰلِكَ ۚ وَءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ سُلْطَٰنًۭا مُّبِينًۭا [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

The people of the Scripture ask of thee that thou shouldst cause an (actual) Book to descend upon them from heaven. They asked a greater thing of Moses aforetime, for they said: Show us Allah plainly. The storm of lightning seized them for their wickedness. Then (even) after that) they chose the calf (for worship) after clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty) had come unto them. And We forgave them that! And We bestowed on Moses evident authority. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

The People of the Book ask you to bring down for them a Book from the sky. Certainly they asked Moses for [something] greater than that, for they said, [Show us Allah visibly,] whereat a thunderbolt seized them for their wrongdoing. Then they took up the Calf [for worship], after all the manifest proofs that had come to them. Yet We excused that, and We gave Moses a manifest authority. - Qarai, Ali Quli

(Muhammad), the People of the Book ask you to make a Book descend to them from the heavens. However, they had asked Moses for things much harder to do than this, by saying, [Show us God in person.] Thunder and lightning struck them because of their unjust demands. Despite all the evidence that had come to them, they started to worship the calf, but We forgave them for their sins and gave Moses clear authority. - Sarwar, Muhammad

The followers of the Book ask you to bring down to them a book from heaven; so indeed they demanded of Musa a greater thing than that, for they said: Show us Allah manifestly; so the lightning overtook them on account of their injustice. پیغمبر یہ اہل هکتاب آپ سے مطالبہ کرتے ہیں کہ ان پر آسمان سے کوئی کتاب نازل کردیجئے تو انہوں نے موسٰی سے اس سے زیادہ سنگین سوال کیا تھا جب ان سے یہ کہا کہ ہمیں اللہ کو علی الاعلان دکھلا دیجئے تو ان کے ظلم کی بنا پر انہیں ایک بجلی نے اپنی گرفت میں لے لیا پھر انہوں نے ہماری نشانیوں کے آجانے کے باوجود گوسالہ بنالیا تو ہم نے اس سے بھی درگزر کیا اور موسٰی علیھ السّلام کو کھلی ہوئی دلیل عطا کردی - Jawadi, Zeeshan

یہ اہل کتاب اگر آج تم سے مطالبہ کر رہے ہیں کہ تم آسمان سے کوئی تحریر اُن پر نازل کراؤ تو اِس سے بڑھ چڑھ کر مجرمانہ مطالبے یہ پہلے موسیٰؑ سے کر چکے ہیں اُس سے تو اِنہوں نے کہا تھا کہ ہمیں خدا کو علانیہ دکھا دو اور اِسی سرکشی کی وجہ سے یکایک اِن پر بجلی ٹوٹ پڑی تھی پھر انہوں نے بچھڑے کو اپنا معبود بنا لیا، حالانکہ یہ کھلی کھلی نشانیاں دیکھ چکے تھے اس پر بھی ہم نے اِن سے درگزر کیا ہم نے موسیٰؑ کو صریح فرمان عطا کیا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اے محبوب! اہل کتاب تم سے سوال کرتے ہیں کہ ان پر آسمان سے ایک کتاب اتاردو تو وہ تو موسیٰ سے اس سے بھی بڑا سوال کرچکے کہ بولے ہمیں ا لله کو اعلانیہ دکھادو تو انہیں کڑک نے آ لیا ان کے گناہوں پر پھر بچھڑا لے بیٹھے بعداس کے لئے روشن آیتیں ان کے پاس آچکیں تو ہم نے یہ معاف فرمادیا اور ہم نے موسیٰ کو روشن غلبہ دیا - Ahmed Raza

آپ سے اہل کتاب مطالبہ کرتے ہیں کہ آپ ان پر آسمان سے کوئی (لکھی ہوئی) کتاب اتروا دیں سو یہ تو جناب موسیٰ سے اس سے بھی بڑا مطالبہ کر چکے ہیں یعنی کہا تھا کہ ہمیں کھلم کھلا اللہ دکھا دو تو ان کے (اسی) ظلم کی وجہ سے ان کو بجلی نے پکڑ لیا۔ اور پھر ان لوگوں نے آیات و معجزات آجانے کے بعد گوسالے کو (خدا) بنا لیا۔ مگر ہم نے انہیں معاف کر دیا اور موسیٰ کو کھلا ہوا غلبہ عطا کیا۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

And We raised
فَوْقَهُمُ
above them
ٱلطُّورَ
the endeavour
بِمِيثَٰقِهِمْ
through their covenant
وَقُلْنَا
and We said
لَهُمُ
to them,
ٱدْخُلُوا۟
[Enter
ٱلْبَابَ
the doors
سُجَّدًۭا
as executioners of command.]
وَقُلْنَا
and We said
لَهُمْ
to them,
لَا
[Do not
تَعْدُوا۟
transgress
فِى
in
ٱلسَّبْتِ
the laziness.]
وَأَخَذْنَا
and We took
مِنْهُم
from them
مِّيثَٰقًا
a ratification
غَلِيظًۭا
that was strong.
٤
١٥٤
وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَهُمُ ٱلطُّورَ بِمِيثَٰقِهِمْ وَقُلْنَا لَهُمُ ٱدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْبَابَ سُجَّدًۭا وَقُلْنَا لَهُمْ لَا تَعْدُوا۟ فِى ٱلسَّبْتِ وَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُم مِّيثَٰقًا غَلِيظًۭا And We raised above them the endeavour through their covenant and We said to them, [Enter the doors as executioners of command.] and We said to them, [Do not transgress in the laziness.] and We took from them a ratification that was strong.

And We caused the Mount to tower above them at (the taking of) their covenant: and We bade them: Enter the gate, prostrate! and We bode them: Transgress not the Sabbath! and We took from them a firm covenant. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And We raised the Mount above them for the sake of their covenant, and We said to them, [Enter the gate prostrating] and We said to them, [Do not violate the Sabbath,] and We took from them a solemn covenant. - Qarai, Ali Quli

We raised Mount (Sinai) above them because of Our solemn promise to them. Also, We told them to prostrate themselves when entering the gate (of the holy house) and not to commit transgression on the Sabbath. We made a solemn covenant with them. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And We lifted the mountain (Sainai) over them at (the taking of the covenant) and We said to them: Enter the door making obeisance; and We said to them: Do not exceed the limits of the Sabbath, and We made with them a firm covenant. - Shakir, Habib

And We raised above them the Mount, while making a covenant with them, and We said to them. [Enter the gate humbly,] and We also commanded them, [Transgress not in the matter of the Sabbath.] We took from them a firm covenant. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور ہم نے ان کے عہد کی خلاف ورزی کی بنا پر ان کے سروں پر کوئہ طور کو بلند کردیا اور ان سے کہا کہ دروازہ سے سجدہ کرتے ہوئے داخل ہو اور ان سے کہا کہ خبردار شنبہ کے معاملہ میں زیادتی نہ کرنا اور ان سے بڑا سخت عہد لے لیا - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور اِن لوگوں پر طور کو اٹھا کر اِن سے (اُس فرمان کی اطاعت کا) عہد لیا ہم نے اِن کو حکم دیا کہ دروازے میں سجدہ ریز ہوتے ہوئے داخل ہوں ہم نے اِن سے کہا کہ سبت کا قانون نہ توڑو اوراس پر اِن سے پختہ عہد لیا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

Thus so due to
نَقْضِهِم
their breaking of
مِّيثَٰقَهُمْ
their ratification
وَكُفْرِهِم
and their denial
بِـَٔايَٰتِ
about the verses of
ٱللَّهِ
the One,
وَقَتْلِهِمُ
and their murdering of
ٱلْأَنۢبِيَآءَ
the revolutionary leaders
بِغَيْرِ
without
حَقٍّۢ
right,
وَقَوْلِهِمْ
while they asserted,
قُلُوبُنَا
[Our hearts are
غُلْفٌۢ
protected],
ۚ
بَلْ
when in fact
طَبَعَ
has impressed
ٱللَّهُ
the One
عَلَيْهَا
upon their hearts
بِكُفْرِهِمْ
due to their denial,
فَلَا
hence not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
they will be convinced
إِلَّا
except
قَلِيلًۭا
a few.
٤
١٥٥
فَبِمَا نَقْضِهِم مِّيثَٰقَهُمْ وَكُفْرِهِم بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَقَتْلِهِمُ ٱلْأَنۢبِيَآءَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّۢ وَقَوْلِهِمْ قُلُوبُنَا غُلْفٌۢ ۚ بَلْ طَبَعَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهَا بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا Thus so due to their breaking of their ratification and their denial about the verses of the One, and their murdering of the revolutionary leaders without right, while they asserted, [Our hearts are protected], when in fact has impressed the One upon their hearts due to their denial, hence not they will be convinced except a few.

Then because of their breaking of their covenant, and their disbelieving in the revelations of Allah, and their slaying of the prophets wrongfully, and their saying: Our hearts are hardened - Nay, but Allah set a seal upon them for their disbelief, so that they believe not save a few - - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Then because of their breaking their covenant, their defiance of Allah]s signs, their killing of the prophets unjustly and for their saying, [Our hearts are uncircumcised]… Indeed, Allah has set a seal on them for their unfaith, so they do not have faith except a few. - Qarai, Ali Quli

However, because of their disbelief, disregard of their covenant, denial of God's revelations, murdering the Prophets without reason, and their saying that their hearts were covered, We sealed up their hearts. Only a few of them believe. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Therefore, for their breaking their covenant and their disbelief in the communications of Allah and their killing the prophets wrongfully and their saying: Our hearts are covered; nay! Allah set a seal upon them owing to their unbelief, so they shall not believe except a few. - Shakir, Habib

But they broke their covenant; and they rejected the signs of God; and put the prophets to death without justification, and said, [Our hearts are sealed.] It is God who has sealed their hearts, on account of their denial of the truth. Except for a few of them, they have no faith. - Wahiduddin Khan

پس ان کے عہد کو توڑ دینے ,آیات هخدا کے انکار کرنے اور انبیائ کو ناحق قتل کر دینے اور یہ کہنے کی بنا پر کہ ہمارے دلوں پر فطرتا غلاف چڑھے ہوئے ہیں حالانکہ ایسا نہیں ہے بلکہ خدا نے ان کے کفر کی بنا پر ان کے دلوں پر مہر لگادی ہے اور اب چند ایک کے علاوہ کوئی ایمان نہ لائے گا - Jawadi, Zeeshan

آخر کا ر اِن کی عہد شکنی کی وجہ سے، اور اس وجہ سے کہ انہوں نے اللہ کی آیات کو جھٹلایا، اور متعدد پیغمبروں کو نا حق قتل کیا، اور یہاں تک کہا کہ ہمارے دل غلافوں میں محفوظ ہیں حالانکہ در حقیقت اِن کی باطل پرستی کے سبب سے اللہ نے اِن کے دلوں پر ٹھپہ لگا دیا ہے اور اسی وجہ سے یہ بہت کم ایمان لاتے ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

تو ان کی کیسی بدعہدیوں کے سبب ہم نے ان پر لعنت کی اور اس لئے کہ وہ آیات الٰہی کے منکر ہوئے اور انبیاء کو ناحق شہید کرتے اور ان کے اس کہنے پر کہ ہمارے دلوں پر غلاف ہیں بلکہ اللہ نے ان کے کفر کے سبب ان کے دلوں پر مہر لگادی ہے تو ایمان نہیں لاتے مگر تھوڑے، - Ahmed Raza

سو (ان کو جو سزا ملی وہ) ان کے عہد شکنی کرنے، آیاتِ الٰہیہ کا انکار کرنے، نبیوں کو ناحق قتل کرنے اور ان کے اس کہنے کی وجہ سے کہ ہمارے دلوں پر غلاف چڑھے ہوئے ہیں۔ بلکہ ان کے کفر کی وجہ سے اللہ نے ان کے (دلوں) پر مہر لگا دی ہے۔ اس لیے وہ بہت کم ایمان لائیں گے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

a slander
عَظِيمًۭا
of great magnitude.
And due to their denial and them asserting upon Maryam a slander of great magnitude.

And because of their disbelief and of their speaking against Mary a tremendous calumny; - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And for their faithlessness, and their uttering a monstrous calumny against Mary, - Qarai, Ali Quli

Their hearts were also sealed because of their lack of faith, their gravely slanderous accusation against Mary, - Sarwar, Muhammad

And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, Allah's messenger - they slew him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so unto them; and lo! those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture; they slew him not for certain. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

and for their saying, [We killed the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, the apostle of Allah]—though they did not kill him nor did they crucify him, but so it was made to appear to them. Indeed those who differ concerning him are surely in doubt about him: they do not have any knowledge of that beyond following conjectures, and certainly, they did not kill him. - Qarai, Ali Quli

and their statement that they murdered Jesus, son of Mary, the Messenger of God, when, in fact, they could not have murdered him or crucified him. They, in fact, murdered someone else by mistake. Even those who disputed (the question of whether or not Jesus was murdered) did not have a shred of evidence. All that they knew about it was mere conjecture. They certainly could not have murdered Jesus. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And their saying: Surely we have killed the Messiah, Isa son of Marium, the apostle of Allah; and they did not kill him nor did they crucify him, but it appeared to them so (like Isa) and most surely those who differ therein are only in a doubt about it; they have no knowledge respecting it, but only follow a conjecture, and they killed him not for sure. - Shakir, Habib

They declared, [We have put to death the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, the Messenger of God.] They did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but it only seemed to them [as if it had been so]. And those who differ in this matter are in doubt concerning it. They have no definite knowledge about it, but only follow mere conjecture. But they certainly did not kill him. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور یہ کہنے کی بنا پر کہ ہم نے مسیح عیسٰی علیھ السّلام بن مریم رسول اللہ کو قتل کردیا ہے حالانکہ انہوں نے نہ انہیں قتل کیا ہے اور نہ سولی دی ہے بلکہ دوسرے کو ان کی شبہیہ بنا دیا گیا تھا اور جن لوگوں نے عیسٰی علیھ السّلام کے بارے میں اختلاف کیا ہے وہ سب منزل ه شک میں ہیں اور کسی کو گمان کی پیروی کے علاوہ کوئی علم نہیں ہے اور انہوں نے یقینا انہیں قتل نہیں کیا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور خود کہا کہ ہم نے مسیح، عیسیٰ ابن مریم، رسول اللہ کو قتل کر دیا ہے حالانکہ فی الواقع انہوں نے نہ اس کو قتل کیا نہ صلیب پر چڑھایا بلکہ معاملہ ان کے لیے مشتبہ کر دیا گیا اور جن لوگوں نے اس کے بارے میں اختلاف کیا ہے وہ بھی دراصل شک میں مبتلا ہیں، ان کے پاس اس معاملہ میں کوئی علم نہیں ہے، محض گمان ہی کی پیروی ہے انہوں نے مسیح کو یقین کے ساتھ قتل نہیں کیا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور ان کے اس کہنے پر کہ ہم نے مسیح عیسیٰ بن مریم اللہ کے رسول کو شہید کیا اور ہے یہ کہ انہوں نے نہ اسے قتل کیا اور نہ اسے سولی دی بلکہ ان کے لئے ان کی شبیہ کا ایک بنادیا گیا اور وہ جو اس کے بارہ میں اختلاف کررہے ہیں ضرور اس کی طرف سے شبہ میں پڑے ہوئے ہیں انہیں اس کی کچھ بھی خبر نہیں مگر یہی گمان کی پیروی اور بیشک انہوں نے اس کو قتل نہیں کیا - Ahmed Raza

اور ان کے اس کہنے کی وجہ سے کہ ہم نے خدا کے رسول مسیح عیسیٰ بن مریم کو قتل کر دیا ہے۔ حالانکہ انہوں نے نہ انہیں قتل کیا اور نہ سولی پر چڑھایا، بلکہ ان پر اصل معاملہ مشتبہ کر دیا گیا۔ اور جن لوگوں نے اس بارے میں اختلاف کیا ہے وہ یقینا اس کے متعلق شک میں ہیں اور انہیں گمان کی پیروی کرنے کے سوا کوئی علم نہیں ہے۔ اور انہوں نے یقینا ان کو قتل نہیں کیا۔ - Najafi, Muhammad
