If ye are thankless, yet Allah is Independent of you, though He is not pleased with thanklessness for His bondmen; and if ye are thankful He is pleased therewith for you. No laden soul will bear another's load. Then unto your Lord is your return; and He will tell you what ye used to do. Lo! He knoweth what is in the breasts (of men). - Pickthall, Marmaduke

If you are ungrateful, Allah has indeed no need of you, though He does not approve ingratitude for His servants; and if you give thanks, He approves that for you. No bearer shall bear another]s burden; then your return will be to your Lord, whereat He will inform you concerning what you used to do. If you disbelieve, know that God is certainly independent of you. He does not want disbelief for His servants. If you give thanks, He will accept it from you. No one will be responsible for the sins of others. To your Lord you will all return and He will tell you about what you have done. He knows best what the hearts contain. - Sarwar, Muhammad

If you are ungrateful, then surely Allah is Self-sufficient above all need of you; and He does not like ungratefulness in His servants; and if you are grateful, He likes it in you; and no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another; then to your Lord is your return, then will He inform you of what you did; surely He is Cognizant of what is in the breasts. - Shakir, Habib

اگر تم کافر بھی ہوجاؤ گے تو خدا تم سے بے نیاز ہے اور وہ اپنے بندوں کے لئے کفر کو پسند نہیں کرتا ہے اور اگر تم اس کا شکریہ ادا کرو گے تو وہ اس بات کو پسند کرتا ہے اور کوئی شخص دوسرے کے گناہوں کا بوجھ اٹھانے والا نہیں ہے اس کے بعد تم سب کی بازگشت تمہارے پروردگار کی طرف ہے پھر وہ تمہیں بتائے گا کہ تم دنیا میں کیا کررہے تھے وہ دلوں کے حُھپے ہوئے رازوں سے بھی باخبر ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اگر تم کفر کرو تو اللہ تم سے بے نیاز ہے، لیکن وہ اپنے بندوں کے لیے کفر کو پسند نہیں کرتا، اور اگر تم شکر کر و تو اسے وہ تمہارے لیے پسند کرتا ہے کوئی بوجھ اٹھانے والا کسی دوسرے کا بوجھ نہ اٹھائے گا آخرکار تم سب کو اپنے رب کی طرف پلٹنا ہے، پھر وہ تمہیں بتا دے گا کہ تم کیا کرتے رہے ہو، وہ تو دلوں کا حال تک جانتا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اگر تم ناشکری کرو تو بیشک اللہ بے نیاز ہے تم سے اور اپنے بندوں کی ناشکری اسے پسند نہیں، اور اگر شکر کرو تو اسے تمہارے لیے پسند فرماتا ہے اور کوئی بوجھ اٹھانے والی جان دوسرے کا بوجھ نہیں اٹھائے گی پھر تمہیں اپنے رب ہی کی طرف پھرنا ہے تو وہ تمہیں بتادے گا جو تم کرتے تھے بیشک وہ دلوں کی بات جانتا ہے، - Ahmed Raza

اگر تم کفر (انکار و ناشکری کرو) تو بے شک وہ تم سے بے نیاز ہے اور وہ اپنے بندوں کیلئے (ناشکراپن) پسند نہیں کرتا اور اللہ کا تم شکر ادا کرو تو وہ اسے تمہارے لئے پسند کرتا ہے اور کوئی بوجھ اٹھانے والا کسی کا بوجھ نہیں اٹھائے گا اور پھر تم سب کی بازگشت تمہارے پروردگار کی طرف ہے وہ تمہیں بتائے گا جو کچھ تم کرتے رہے ہو بے شک وہ سینوں کے رازوں کو جاننے والا ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

And when some hurt toucheth man, he crieth unto his Lord, turning unto Him (repentant). Then, when He granteth him a boon from Him he forgetteth that for which he cried unto Him before, and setteth up rivals to Allah that he may beguile (men) from his way. Say (O Muhammad, unto such an one): Take pleasure in thy disbelief a while. Lo! thou art of the owners of the Fire. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

When distress befalls man, he supplicates his Lord, turning to Him penitently. Then, when He grants him a blessing from Himself, he forgets that for which he had supplicated Him earlier and sets up equals to Allah, that he may lead [people] astray from His way. Say, [Revel in your ingratitude for a while. Indeed you are among the inmates of the Fire.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

When the human being is afflicted with hardship, he starts to pray to his Lord and turns to Him in repentance. When God grants him a favor, he forgets the hardship about which he had prayed to God and starts to consider equal to God things that lead him astray from His path. (Muhammad), tell him, [You can only enjoy in your disbelief for a short time. You will certainly be a dweller of hell fire]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And when distress afflicts a man he calls upon his Lord turning to Him frequently; then when He makes him possess a favor from Him, he forgets that for which he called upon Him before, and sets up rivals to Allah that he may cause (men) to stray off from His path. Say: Enjoy yourself in your ungratefulness a little, surely you are of the inmates of the fire. - Shakir, Habib

When man suffers some affliction, he prays to his Lord and turns to Him in penitence, but once he has been granted a favour from God, he forgets the One he had been praying to and sets up rivals to God, to make others stray from His path. Say, [Enjoy your unbelief for a little while: you will be one of the inmates of the Fire.] - Wahiduddin Khan

اور جب انسان کو کوئی تکلیف پہنچتی ہے تو پوری توجہ کے ساتھ پروردگار کو آواز دیتا ہے پھر جب وہ اسے کوئی نعمت دے دیتا ہے تو جس بات کے لئے اس کو پکار رہا تھا اسے یکسر نظرانداز کردیتا ہے اور خدا کے لئے مثل قرار دیتا ہے تاکہ اس کے راستے سے بہکا سکے تو آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ تھوڑے دنوں اپنے کفر میں عیش کرلو اس کے بعد تو تم یقینا جہّنم والوں میں ہو - Jawadi, Zeeshan

انسان پر جب کوئی آفت آتی ہے تو وہ اپنے رب کی طرف رجوع کر کے اُسے پکارتا ہے پھر جب اس کا رب اسے اپنی نعمت سے نواز دیتا ہے تو وہ اُس مصیبت کو بھول جاتا ہے جس پر وہ پہلے پکار رہا تھا اور دوسروں کو اللہ کا ہمسر ٹھیراتا ہے تاکہ اُس کی راہ سے گمراہ کرے (اے نبیؐ) اُس سے کہو کہ تھوڑے دن اپنے کفر سے لطف اٹھا لے، یقیناً تو دوزخ میں جانے والا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جب آدمی کو کوئی تکلیف پہنچتی ہے اپنے رب کو پکارتا ہے اسی طرف جھکا ہوا پھر جب اللہ نے اسے اپنے پاس سے کوئی نعمت دی تو بھول جاتا ہے جس لیے پہلے پکارا تھا اور اللہ کے برابر والے ٹھہرانے لگتا ہے تاکہ اس کی راہ سے بہکادے تم فرماؤ تھوڑے دن اپنے کفر کے ساتھ برت لے بیشک تو دوزخیوں میں ہے، - Ahmed Raza

اور جب انسان کو کوئی تکلیف پہنچتی ہے تو وہ دل سے رجوع کرکے اپنے پروردگار کو پکارتا ہے اور پھر جب وہ اپنی طرف سے اسے کوئی نعمت عطا کرتا ہے تو وہ اس (تکلیف) کو بھول جاتا ہے جس کیلئے وہ پہلے اسے پکار رہا تھا اور اللہ کیلئے ہمسر (شریک) ٹھہرانے لگتا ہے تاکہ اس کے راستہ سے (لوگوں کو) گمراہ کرے۔ آپ(ص) کہہ دیجئے! تھوڑے دن اپنے کفر (ناشکرے پن) سے فائدہ اٹھا لے (انجامِ کار) یقیناً تو دوزخ والوں سے ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

Is he who payeth adoration in the watches of the night, prostrate and standing, bewaring of the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord, (to be accounted equal with a disbeliever)? Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Are those who know equal with those who know not? But only men of understanding will pay heed. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Is he who supplicates in the watches of the night, prostrating and standing, apprehensive of the Hereafter and expecting the mercy of his Lord...? Say, [Are those who know equal to those who do not know?] Only those who possess intellect take admonition. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Can this one be considered equal to one who worships God during the night, prostrating and standing, who has fear of the Day of Judgment, and who has hope in the mercy of his Lord? Say, [Are those who know equal to those who do not know? Only the people of reason take heed]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Is he who prays devoutly to God in the hours of the night, prostrating himself and standing in prayer, who is ever mindful of the life to come and hopes for the mercy of his Lord [like one who does not]? کیا وہ شخص جو رات کی گھڑیوں میں سجدہ اور قیام کی حالت میں خدا کی عبادت کرتا ہے اور آخرت کا خوف رکھتا ہے اور اپنے پروردگار کی رحمت کا امیدوار ہے .... کہہ دیجئے کہ کیا وہ لوگ جو جانتے ہیں ان کے برابر ہوجائیں گے جو نہیں جانتے ہیں - اس بات سے نصیحت صرف صاحبانِ عقل حاصل کرتے ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

(کیا اِس شخص کی روش بہتر ہے یا اُس شخص کی) جو مطیع فرمان ہے، رات کی گھڑیوں میں کھڑا رہتا اور سجدے کرتا ہے، آخرت سے ڈرتا اور اپنے رب کی رحمت سے امید لگاتا ہے؟ اِن سے پوچھو، کیا جاننے والے اور نہ جاننے والے دونوں کبھی یکساں ہو سکتے ہیں؟ نصیحت تو عقل رکھنے والے ہی قبول کرتے ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

Say,
يَٰعِبَادِ
[O slaves (of the One)!
ٱلَّذِينَ
The ones who
ءَامَنُوا۟
have conviction!
ٱتَّقُوا۟
Be aware of
رَبَّكُمْ
your Master!
ۚ
لِلَّذِينَ
For the ones who
أَحْسَنُوا۟
do good
فِى
in
هَٰذِهِ
this
ٱلدُّنْيَا
World is
حَسَنَةٌۭ
goodness;
ۗ
وَأَرْضُ
and land of
ٱللَّهِ
the One is
وَٰسِعَةٌ
widespread;
ۗ
إِنَّمَا
indeed
يُوَفَّى
He pays
ٱلصَّٰبِرُونَ
the persevering ones
أَجْرَهُم
their reward
بِغَيْرِ
without
حِسَابٍۢ
counting.]

١٠
قُلْ يَٰعِبَادِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ ۚ لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ فِى هَٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةٌۭ ۗ وَأَرْضُ ٱللَّهِ وَٰسِعَةٌ ۗ إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى ٱلصَّٰبِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍۢ Say, [O slaves (of the One)! The ones who have conviction! Be aware of your Master! For the ones who do good in this World is goodness; and land of the One is widespread; indeed He pays the persevering ones their reward without counting.]

Say: O My bondmen who believe! Observe your duty to your Lord. For those who do good in this world there is good, and Allah's earth is spacious. Verily the steadfast will be paid their wages without stint. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Say, [[Allah declares:] “O My servants who have faith! Be wary of your Lord. For those who do good in this world there will be a good [reward], and Allah]s earth is vast. Indeed the patient will be paid in full their reward without any reckoning.” ] - Qarai, Ali Quli

Say to My believing servants, [Have fear of your Lord. Those who act righteously in this life will receive good reward. The land of God is vast. God will recompense the deeds of those who have exercised patience, without keeping an account]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Say: O my servants who believe! be careful of (your duty to) your Lord; for those who do good in this world is good, and Allah's earth is spacious; only the patient will be paid back their reward in full without measure. - Shakir, Habib

يَوْمَ
on day of
ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ
the establishment.
ۗ
أَلَا
Is it not
ذَٰلِكَ
that
هُوَ
they are
ٱلْخُسْرَانُ
losers
ٱلْمُبِينُ
clearly?]
٣٩
١٥
فَٱعْبُدُوا۟ مَا شِئْتُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ ۗ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ ۗ أَلَا ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْخُسْرَانُ ٱلْمُبِينُ [Whilst you obey what you desire from that which is beneath Him.] Say, [Surely the losers are the ones who loose their own selves and their families on day of the establishment. Is it not that they are losers clearly?]
⦿
Then worship what ye will beside Him. Say: The losers will be those who lose themselves and their housefolk on the Day of Resurrection. Ah, that will be the manifest loss! - Pickthall, Marmaduke

You worship whatever you wish besides Him.] Say, [The losers are those who ruin themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection.] Indeed, that is a manifest loss! - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
Worship besides Him whatever you want. The greatest losers are those whose souls and family members will be lost on the Day of Judgment for this is certainly a great loss]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Serve then what you like besides Him. Say: The losers surely are those who shall have lost themselves and their families on the day of resurrection; now surely that is the clear loss. - Shakir, Habib
⦿
as for yourselves, worship anything you please besides Him!] Say, [The real losers will be those who lose themselves and all their kith and kin on the Day of Resurrection. That is the [most] obvious loss. - Wahiduddin Khan

اب تم جس کی چاہو عبادت کرو کہہ دیجئے کہ حقیقی خسارہ والے وہی ہیں جنہوں نے اپنے نفس اور اپنے اہل کو قیامت کے دن گھاٹے میں رکھا - آگاہ ہوجاؤ یہی کھلا ہوا خسارہ ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

تم اُس کے سوا جس جس کی بندگی کرنا چاہو کرتے رہو کہو، اصل دیوالیے تو وہی ہیں جنہوں نے قیامت کے روز اپنے آپ کو اور اپنے اہل و عیال کو گھاٹے میں ڈال دیا خوب سن رکھو، یہی کھلا دیوالہ ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

They have an awning of fire above them and beneath them a dais (of fire). With this doth Allah appal His bondmen. O My bondmen, therefor fear Me! - Pickthall, Marmaduke

There will be canopies of fire above them, and [similar] canopies beneath them. With that Allah deters His servants. So, My servants, be wary of Me! - Qarai, Ali Quli

Above and below them their will be shadows of fire. This is how God frightens His servants. My servants have fear of Me. - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
They shall have coverings of fire above them and coverings beneath them; with that Allah makes His servants to fear, so be careful of (your duty to) Me, O My servants! - Shakir, Habib

They will have sheets of fire above them and sheets of fire beneath them.] That is how God puts fear into the hearts of His servants. Fear me, then, My servants. - Wahiduddin Khan

اُن پر آگ کی چھتریاں اوپر سے بھی چھائی ہوں گی اور نیچے سے بھی یہ وہ انجام ہے جس سے اللہ اپنے بندوں کو ڈراتا ہے، پس اے میرے بندو، میرے غضب سے بچو - Maududi, Abul A'ala

وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱجْتَنَبُوا۟ ٱلطَّٰغُوتَ أَن يَعْبُدُوهَا وَأَنَابُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ لَهُمُ ٱلْبُشْرَىٰ ۚ فَبَشِّرْ عِبَادِ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And those who put away false gods lest they should worship them and turn to Allah in repentance, for them there are glad tidings. Therefor give good tidings (O Muhammad) to My bondmen - Pickthall, Marmaduke

As for those who stay clear of the worship of fake deities and turn penitently to Allah, there is good news for them. So give good news to My servants - Qarai, Ali Quli

Those who have avoided worshipping idols and have turned in repentance to God will receive the glad news. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And (as for) those who keep off from the worship of the idols and turn to Allah, they shall have good news, therefore give good news to My servants, - Shakir, Habib

There is good news for those who shun the worship of false deities and turn to God, so give good news to My servants, - Wahiduddin Khan

اور جن لوگوں نے ظالموں سے علیحدگی اختیار کی کہ ان کی عبادت کریں اور خدا کی طرف متوجہ ہوگئے ان کے لئے ہماری طرف سے بشارت ہے لہذا پیغمبر آپ میرے بندوں کو بشارت دے دیجئے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

بخلاف اس کے جن لوگوں نے طاغوت کی بندگی سے اجتناب کیا اور اللہ کی طرف رجوع کر لیا اُن کے لیے خوشخبری ہے پس (اے نبیؐ) بشارت دے دو میرے اُن بندوں کو - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور وہ جو بتوں کی پوجا سے بچے اور اللہ کی طرف رجوع ہوئے انہیں کے لیے خوشخبری ہے تو خوشی سناؤ میرے ان بندوں کو، - Ahmed Raza
