قُلِ

ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ

وَٱلْأَرْضِ

عَٰلِمَ

ٱلْغَيْبِ

وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ

أَنتَ

تَحْكُمُ

بَيْنَ

عِبَادِكَ

فِى

مَا

كَانُوا۟

قُلِ ٱللَّهُمَّ فَاطِرَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ عَٰلِمَ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ أَنتَ تَحْكُمُ بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ فِى مَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ

Say: O Allah! Creator of the heavens and the earth! Knower of the Invisible and the Visible! Thou wilt judge between Thy slaves concerning that wherein they used to differ.

Say, [O Allah! Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the sensible and the Unseen, You will judge between Your servants concerning that about which they used to differ.]

تم عرض کرو اے اللہ! آسمانوں اور زمین کے پیدا کرنے والے نہاں اور عیاں کے جاننے والے تو اپنے بندوں میں فیصلہ فرمائے گا جس میں وہ اختلاف رکھتے تھے

وَلَوْ أَنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًۭا وَمِثْلَهُۥ مَعَهُۥ لَٱفْتَدَوْا۟ بِهِۦ مِن سُوٓءِ ٱلْعَذَابِ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ ۚ وَبَدَا لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يَكُونُوا۟ يَحْتَسِبُونَ

⦿

And though those who do wrong possess all that is in the earth, and therewith as much again, they verily will seek to ransom themselves therewith on the Day of Resurrection from the awful doom; and there will appear unto them, from their Lord, that wherewith they never reckoned.

Even if the wrongdoers possessed all that is on the earth, and as much of it besides, they would offer it on the Day of Resurrection to redeem themselves with it from a terrible punishment, and there will appear to them from Allah what they had never reckoned.

Had the unjust possessed double the amount of the wealth of the whole earth, they would certainly have liked to offer it on the Day of Resurrection as redemption from the torment of Our scourge when God would make public what they had never expected.

And had those who are unjust all that is in the earth and the like of it with it, they would certainly offer it as ransom (to be saved) from the evil of the punishment on the day of resurrection; and what they never thought of shall become plain to them from Allah.

If the wrongdoers possessed all that is on earth, and twice as much, they would offer it to redeem themselves from the awful suffering on the Day of Resurrection. For God will show them what they had never anticipated,

اور اگر ظلم کرنے والوں کو زمین کی تمام کائنات مل جائے اور اتنا ہی اور بھی مل جائے تو بھی یہ روزِ قیامت کے بدترین عذاب کے بدلہ میں سب دے دیں گے لیکن ان کے لئے خدا کی طرف سے وہ سب بہرحال ظاہر ہوگا جس کا یہ وہم و گمان بھی نہیں رکھتے تھے

اگر اِن ظالموں کے پاس زمین کی ساری دولت بھی ہو، اور اتنی ہی اور بھی، تو یہ روز قیامت کے برے عذاب سے بچنے کے لیے سب کچھ فدیے میں دینے کے لیے تیار ہو جائیں گے وہاں اللہ کی طرف سے ان کے سامنے وہ کچھ آئے گا جس کا انہوں نے کبھی اندازہ ہی نہیں کیا ہے

اور اگر ظالموں کے لیے ہوتا جو کچھ زمین میں ہے سب اور اس کے ساتھ اس جیسا تو یہ سب چھڑائی (چھڑانے) میں دیتے روز ِ قیامت کے بڑے عذاب سے اور انہیں اللہ کی طرف سے وہ بات ظاہر ہوئی جو ان کے خیال میں نہ تھی

اور جن لوگوں نے (کفر و شرک کرکے) ظلم کیا اگر ان کے پاس وہ سب کچھ ہو جو زمین میں ہے اور اتنی اور بھی تو وہ یہ سب کچھ قیامت کے دن برے عذاب سے بچنے کیلئے فدیہ دے دیں اور (اس دن) اللہ کی طرف سے وہ کچھ ظاہر ہوگا جس کا انہیں گمان بھی نہیں تھا۔

⦿

And the evils that they earned will appear unto them, and that whereat they used to scoff will surround them.

The evils of what they had earned will appear to them, and they will be besieged by what they used to deride.

اور ان پر اپنی کمائی ہوئی برائیاں کھل گئیں اور ان پر آپڑا وہ جس کی ہنسی بناتے تھے

فَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ ضُرٌّۭ دَعَانَا ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلْنَٰهُ نِعْمَةًۭ مِّنَّا قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أُوتِيتُهُۥ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍۭ ۚ بَلْ هِىَ فِتْنَةٌۭ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

Now when hurt toucheth a man he crieth unto Us, and afterward when We have granted him a boon from Us, he saith: Only by force of knowledge I obtained it. Nay, but it is a test. But most of them know not.

When distress befalls man, he supplicates Us. Then, when We grant him a blessing from Us, he says, [I was given it by virtue of [my] knowledge.] Indeed, it is a test, but most of them do not know.

⦿

When the human being is afflicted with hardship, he cries out to us for help. When We grant him a favor, he says, [I knew that I deserved it.] In fact, it is only a test for him, but most people do not know this.

So when harm afflicts a man he calls upon Us; then, when We give him a favor from Us, he says: I have been given it only by means of knowledge. Nay, it is a trial, but most of them do not know.

When affliction befalls man, he appeals to Us; but when We bestow a favour upon him he says, [All this has been given to me because of my own knowledge.] By no means! It is a trial: yet most of them do not realize it.

پھر جب انسان کو کوئی تکلیف پہنچتی ہے تو ہمیں پکارتا ہے اور اس کے بعد جب ہم کوئی نعمت دیدیتے ہیں تو کہتا ہے کہ یہ تو مجھے میرے علم کے زور پر دی گئی ہے حالانکہ یہ ایک آزمائش ہے اور اکثر لوگ اس کا علم نہیں رکھتے ہیں

یہی انسان جب ذرا سی مصیبت اِسے چھو جاتی ہے تو ہمیں پکارتا ہے، اور جب ہم اسے اپنی طرف سے نعمت دے کر اپھار دیتے ہیں تو کہتا ہے کہ یہ تو مجھے علم کی بنا پر دیا گیا ہے! نہیں، بلکہ یہ آزمائش ہے، مگر ان میں سے اکثر لوگ جانتے نہیں ہیں

پھر جب آدمی کو کوئی تکلیف پہنچتی ہے تو ہمیں بلاتا ہے پھر جب اسے ہم اپنے پاس سے کوئی نعمت عطا فرمائیں کہتا ہے یہ تو مجھے ایک علم کی بدولت ملی ہے بلکہ وہ تو آزمائش ہے مگر ان میں بہتوں کو علم نہیں

Those before them said it, yet (all) that they had earned availed them not;

ان سے اگلے بھی ایسے ہی کہہ چکے تو ان کا کمایا ان کے کچھ کام نہ آیا،

فَأَصَابَهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا كَسَبُوا۟ ۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مِنْ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ سَيُصِيبُهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا كَسَبُوا۟ وَمَا هُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ

⦿

But the evils that they earned smote them; and such of these as do wrong, the evils that they earn will smite them; they cannot escape.

So the evils of what they had earned visited them, and as for the wrongdoers among these, the evils of what they earn shall be visited on them and they will not frustrate [Allah].

They were afflicted by the terrible result of whatever they gained. Besides this affliction, the unjust among them will also suffer the consequence of their deeds. They will not be able to challenge God.

So there befell them the evil (consequences) of what they earned; and (as for) those who are unjust from among these, there shall befall them the evil (consequences) of what they earn, and they shall not escape.

the very evil of their deeds recoiled upon them; today's wrongdoers shall also have the evil of their deeds recoil upon them: they will never be able to frustrate [Our plan].

بلکہ ان کے اعمال کے برے اثرات ان تک پہنچ گئے اور ان کفاّر میں سے بھی جو لوگ ظلم کرنے والے ہیں ان تک ان کے اعمال کے اِرے اثرت پہنچیں گے اور وہ خدا کو عاجز نہیں کرسکتے ہیں

پھر اپنی کمائی کے برے نتائج انہوں نے بھگتے، اور اِن لوگوں میں سے بھی جو ظالم ہیں وہ عنقریب اپنی کمائی کے برے نتائج بھگتیں گے، یہ ہمیں عاجز کر دینے والے نہیں ہیں

تو ان پر پڑ گئیں ان کی کمائیوں کی برائیاں اور وہ جو ان میں ظالم عنقریب ان پر پڑیں گی ان کی کمائیوں کی برائیاں اور وہ قابو سے نہیں نکل سکتے

تو انہوں نے جو کچھ کمایا تھا اس کے برے نتائج ان تک پہنچے اور جو ان لوگوں میں سے ظالم ہیں ان تک بھی۔ ان کی برائی کے برے نتائج پہنچیں گے اور وہ (اللہ کو) عاجز نہیں کر سکتے۔

أَوَلَمْ يَعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَبْسُطُ ٱلرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَقْدِرُ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَٰتٍۢ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يُؤْمِنُونَ

⦿

Know they not that Allah enlargeth providence for whom He will, and straiteneth it (for whom He will). Lo! herein verily are portents for people who believe.

Do they not know that Allah expands the provision for whomever He wishes and tightens it [for whomever He wishes]? There are indeed signs in that for a people who have faith.

Did they not know that God determines and increases the sustenance of whomever He wants. In this there is evidence (of the truth) for the believing people.

Do they not know that Allah makes ample the means of subsistence to whom He pleases, and He straitens; most surely there are signs in this for a people who believe.

Do they not know that God grants abundant sustenance to anyone He wishes and gives sparingly to anyone He pleases? Surely there are signs in this for those who believe.

کیا انہیں یہ نہیں معلوم ہے کہ اللہ ہی جس کے رزق کو چاہتا ہے وسیع کردیتا ہے اور جس کے رزق کو چاہتا ہے تنگ کردیتا ہے. ان معاملات میں صاحبان ه ایمان کے لئے بہت سی نشانیاں پائی جاتی ہیں

اور کیا انہیں معلوم نہیں ہے کہ اللہ جس کا چاہتا ہے رزق کشادہ کر دیتا ہے اور جس کا چاہتا ہے تنگ کر دیتا ہے؟ اس میں نشانیاں ہیں اُن لوگوں کے لیے جو ایمان لاتے ہیں

کیا انہیں معلوم نہیں کہ اللہ روزی کشادہ کرتا ہے جس کے لیے چاہے اور تنگ فرماتا ہے، بیشک اس میں ضرور نشانیاں ہیں ایمان والوں کے لیے،

قُلْ يَٰعِبَادِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا۟ مِن رَّحْمَةِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Say: O My slaves who have been prodigal to their own hurt! Despair not of the mercy of Allah, Who forgiveth all sins. Lo! He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.

Lest any soul should say: Alas, my grief that I was unmindful of Allah, and I was indeed among the scoffers!

(But now the answer will be): Nay, for My revelations came unto thee, but thou didst deny them and wast scornful and wast among the disbelievers.

And on the Day of Resurrection thou (Muhammad) seest those who lied concerning Allah with their faces blackened. Is not the home of the scorners in hell?

And Allah delivereth those who ward off (evil) because of their deserts. Evil toucheth them not, nor do they grieve.

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.
