And We helped them,
فَكَانُوا۟
thus they became

وَنَصَرْنَٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبِينَ And We helped them, thus they became who were the overpowerers.

And We gave them the clear Scripture

And showed them the right path.

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And We left for them among the later folk
(the salutation) :

Peace be unto Moses and Aaron!

ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
the good-doers.

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ Certainly We, just like that, reward the good-doers.

Lo! thus do We reward the good.

Indeed they both were
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
the ones of trust.

إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Indeed they both were from Our slaves, the ones of trust.

Lo! they are two of Our believing slaves.

وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ And certainly was Ilyaas from the Messengers.

And lo! Elias was of those sent
(to warn) ,

Indeed Ilyas was one of the apostles.

Elias was certainly a Messenger.

And Ilyas was most surely of the apostles.

إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ When said to his nation, [Why not you take heed?]

When he said unto his folk: Will ye not ward off
(evil) ?

Will ye cry unto Baal and forsake the Best of creators,

ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ [The One is your Rabb, and Rabb of your elders of the previous people.]
