يُدَبِّرُ ٱلْأَمْرَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ يَعْرُجُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍۢ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥٓ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍۢ مِّمَّا تَعُدُّونَ

He directeth the ordinance from the heaven unto the earth; then it ascendeth unto Him in a Day, whereof the measure is a thousand years of that ye reckon.

ذَٰلِكَ عَٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Such is the Knower of the Invisible and the Visible, the Mighty, the Merciful,

Who made all things good which He created, and He began the creation of man from clay;

Then He made his seed from a draught of despised fluid;

ثُمَّ سَوَّىٰهُ وَنَفَخَ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِهِۦ ۖ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَٰرَ وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ ۚ قَلِيلًۭا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ

Then He fashioned him and breathed into him of His Spirit; and appointed for you hearing and sight and hearts. Small thanks give ye!

وَقَالُوٓا۟ أَءِذَا ضَلَلْنَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَءِنَّا لَفِى خَلْقٍۢ جَدِيدٍۭ ۚ بَلْ هُم بِلِقَآءِ رَبِّهِمْ كَٰفِرُونَ

⦿

And they say: When we are lost in the earth, how can we then be re-created? Nay but they are disbelievers in the meeting with their Lord.

They say, [When we have been lost in the dust, shall we be indeed created anew?] Indeed, they disbelieve in the encounter with their Lord.

They have said, [How can we be brought to life again after we have been lost in the earth?] In fact, they have no faith in the Day of Judgment

And they say: What! when we have become lost in the earth, shall we then certainly be in a new creation? Nay! they are disbelievers in the meeting of their Lord.

They say, [When we are lost in the earth, how can we then be recreated?] Indeed, they deny they will ever meet their Lord.

اور یہ کہتے ہیں کہ اگر ہم زمین میں گم ہوگئے تو کیا نئی خلقت میں پھر ظاہر کئے جائیں گے - بات یہ ہے کہ یہ اپنے پروردگار کی ملاقات کے منکر ہیں

اور یہ لوگ کہتے ہیں: ——جب ہم مٹی میں رَل مِل چکے ہوں گے تو کیا ہم پھر نئے سرے سے پیدا کیے جائیں گے؟—— اصل بات یہ ہے کہ یہ اپنے رب کی ملاقات کے منکر ہیں

اور بولے کیا جب ہم مٹی میں مل جائیں گے کیا پھر نئے بنیں گے، بلکہ وہ اپنے رب کے حضور حاضری سے منکر ہیں

اور وہ (کفار) کہتے ہیں کہ جب ہم زمین میں گم (ناپید) ہو جائیں گے تو کیا ہم از سرِ نو پیدا کئے جائیں گے بلکہ (اصل بات یہ ہے کہ) یہ لوگ اپنے پروردگار کی بارگاہ میں حاضری کے منکر ہیں۔

قُلْ يَتَوَفَّىٰكُم مَّلَكُ ٱلْمَوْتِ ٱلَّذِى وُكِّلَ بِكُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُونَ

Say: The angel of death, who hath charge concerning you, will gather you, and afterward unto your Lord ye will be returned.

Say, [You will be taken away by the angel of death, who has been charged with you. Then you will be brought back to your Lord.]

(Muhammad), say, [The angel of death, who is appointed over everyone of you, will cause you to die and to your Lord you will all return.]

Say: The angel of death who is given charge of you shall cause you to die, then to your Lord you shall be brought back.

Say, [The Angel of Death who has been given charge of you will gather in your souls. Then you will [all] be returned to your Lord.]

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ تم کو وہ ملک الموت زندگی کی آخری منزل تک پہنچائے گا جو تم پر تعینات کیا گیا ہے اس کے بعد تم سب پروردگار کی بارگاہ میں پیش کئے جاؤ گے

اِن سے کہو ——موت کا وہ فرشتہ جو تم پر مقرر کیا گیا ہے تم کو پورا کا پورا اپنے قبضے میں لے لے گا اور پھر تم اپنے رب کی طرف پلٹا لائے جاؤ گے——

تم فرماؤ تمہیں وفات دیتا ہے موت کا فرشتہ جو تم پر مقرر ہے پھر اپنے رب کی طرف واپس جاؤ گے

أَبْصَرْنَا

وَسَمِعْنَا

فَٱرْجِعْنَا

نَعْمَلْ

صَٰلِحًا

إِنَّا

مُوقِنُونَ

٣٢

١٢

وَلَوْ تَرَىٰٓ إِذِ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ نَاكِسُوا۟ رُءُوسِهِمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ رَبَّنَآ أَبْصَرْنَا وَسَمِعْنَا فَٱرْجِعْنَا نَعْمَلْ صَٰلِحًا إِنَّا مُوقِنُونَ

⦿

Couldst thou but see when the guilty hang their heads before their Lord, (and say): Our Lord! We have now seen and heard, so send us back; we will do right, now we are sure.

Were you to see when the guilty hang their heads before their Lord [confessing], [Our Lord! We have seen and heard. Send us back so that we may act righteously. Indeed we are [now] convinced.]

⦿

Would that you could see (on the Day of Judgment) that criminals, with their heads hanging down before their Lord, saying, [Our Lord, we have seen and heard. Send us back to act righteously. Now we have strong faith].

⦿

And could you but see when the guilty shall hang down their heads before their Lord: Our Lord! we have seen and we have heard, therefore send us back, we will do good; surely (now) we are certain.

If only you could see the evil-doers hanging their heads in shame before their Lord, [Our Lord, we have seen and we have heard, so send us back again and we will act rightly. For we do indeed now believe.]

اور کاش آپ دیکھتے جب مجرمین پروردگار کی بارگاہ میں سر جھکائے کھڑے ہوں گے - پروردگار ہم نے سب دیکھ لیا اور سن لیا اب ہمیں دوبارہ واپس کردے کہ ہم نیک عمل کریں بیشک ہم یقین کرنے والوں میں ہیں

کاش تم دیکھو وہ وقت جب یہ مجرم سر جھکائے اپنے رب کے حضور کھڑے ہوں گے (اُس وقت یہ کہہ رہے ہوں گے) ——اے ہمارے رب، ہم نے خوب دیکھ لیا اور سُن لیا اب ہمیں واپس بھیج دے تاکہ ہم نیک عمل کریں، ہمیں اب یقین آگیا ہے——

اور کہیں تم دیکھو جب مجرم اپنے رب کے پاس سر نیچے ڈالے ہوں گے اے ہمارے رب اب ہم نے دیکھا اور سنا ہمیں پھر بھیج کہ نیک کام کریں ہم کو یقین آگیا

اور کاش! تم دیکھتے جب مجرم اپنے سر جھکائے اپنے پروردگار کی بارگاہ میں (کھڑے) ہوں گے اور (عرض کریں گے) اے ہمارے پروردگار! ہم نے دیکھ لیا اور سن لیا تو (ایک بار دنیا میں) ہمیں واپس بھیج دے۔ (اب) ہم نیک کام کریں گے اب ہمیں یقین آگیا ہے۔

١٣

وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَـَٔاتَيْنَا كُلَّ نَفْسٍ هُدَىٰهَا وَلَٰكِنْ حَقَّ ٱلْقَوْلُ مِنِّى لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ

⦿

And if We had so willed, We could have given every soul its guidance, but the word from Me concerning evildoers took effect: that I will fill hell with the jinn and mankind together.

Had We wished We would have given every soul its guidance, but My word became due [against the faithless]: [Surely I will fill hell with all the [guilty] jinn and humans.]

Had We wanted, We could have given guidance to every soul, but My decree, that hell will be filled-up with jinn and people, has already been executed.

And if We had pleased We would certainly have given to every soul its guidance, but the word (which had gone forth) from Me was just: I will certainly fill hell with the jinn and men together.

Yet had We so willed, We could indeed have imposed Our guidance upon every human being: but My word shall come true: [I will fill Hell with jinns and men all together.]

اور ہم چاہتے تو جبرا ہرنفس کو اس کی ہدایت دے دیتے لیکن ہماری طرف سے یہ بات طے ہوچکی ہے کہ ہم جہّنم کو جنات اور تمام گمراہ انسانوں سے بھردیں گے

So taste (the evil of your deeds). Forasmuch as ye forgot the meeting of this your day, lo! We forget you. Taste the doom of immortality because of what ye used to do.

Only those believe in Our revelations who, when they are reminded of them, fall down prostrate and hymn the praise of their Lord, and they are not scornful,

This website is a work of passion. It exists only for a couple of reasons:

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.
