وَإِذَا

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ قَالُوا۟ بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَنَآ ۚ أَوَلَوْ كَانَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ عَذَابِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ

⦿

And if it be said unto them: Follow that which Allah hath revealed, they say: Nay, but we follow that wherein we found our fathers. What! Even though the devil were inviting them unto the doom of flame?

When they are told, [Follow what Allah has sent down,] they say, [No, we will follow what we found our fathers following.] What! Even if Satan be calling them to the punishment of the Blaze?

When they are told to follow what God has revealed to them, they say, [We shall only follow our father's way of life.] Will they follow it even if it is Satan who is calling them to the burning torment?

And when it is said to them: Follow what Allah has revealed, they say: Nay, we follow that on which we found our fathers. What! though the Shaitan calls them to the chastisement of the burning fire!

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ جو کچھ اللہ نے نازل کیا ہے اس کا اتباع کرو تو کہتے ہیں کہ ہم اس کا اتباع کرتے ہیں جس پر اپنے باپ دادا کو عمل کرتے دیکھا ہے چاہے شیطان ان کو عذاب جہّنم کی طرف دعوت دے رہا ہو

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ پیروی کرو اُس چیز کی جو اللہ نے نازل کی ہے تو کہتے ہیں کہ ہم تو اُس چیز کی پیروی کریں گے جس پر ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو پایا ہے کیا یہ انہی کی پیروی کریں گے خواہ شیطان اُن کو بھڑکتی ہوئی آگ ہی کی طرف کیوں نہ بلاتا رہا ہو؟

اور جب ان سے کہا جائے اس کی پیروی کرو جو اللہ نے اتارا تو کہتے ہیں بلکہ ہم تو اس کی پیروی کریں گے جس پر ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کوپایا کیا اگرچہ شیطان ان کو عذاب دوزخ کی طرف بلاتا ہو

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ اس چیز کی پیروی کرو جو اللہ نے نازل کی ہے تو وہ کہتے ہیں کہ (نہیں) بلکہ ہم تو اس کی پیروی کریں گے جس پر ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو پایا ہے۔ کیا (یہ جب بھی انہی کی پیروی کریں گے) اگرچہ شیطان ان (بڑوں) کو بھڑکتی آگ کے عذاب کی طرف بلا رہا ہو؟

٢٢

وَمَن يُسْلِمْ وَجْهَهُۥٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِنٌۭ فَقَدِ ٱسْتَمْسَكَ بِٱلْعُرْوَةِ ٱلْوُثْقَىٰ ۗ وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْأُمُورِ

⦿

Whosoever surrendereth his purpose to Allah while doing good, he verily hath grasped the firm hand-hold. Unto Allah belongeth the sequel of all things.

Whoever surrenders his heart to Allah and is virtuous, has certainly held fast to the firmest handle, and with Allah lies the outcome of all matters.

Whoever submits himself to the will of God in righteousness has certainly achieved a strong-hold. The end of all things is in the hands of God.

And whoever submits himself wholly to Allah and he is the doer of good (to others), he indeed has taken hold of the firmest thing upon which one can lay hold; and Allah's is the end of affairs.

جو شخص اپنے آپ کو اللہ کے حوالہ کر دے اور عملاً وہ نیک ہو، اس نے فی الواقع ایک بھروسے کے قابل سہارا تھام لیا، اور سارے معاملات کا آخری فیصلہ اللہ ہی کے ہاتھ ہے

تو جو اپنا منہ اللہ کی طرف جھکادے اور ہو نیکوکار تو بیشک اس نے مضبوط گرہ تھامی، اور اللہ ہی کی طرف ہے سب کاموں کی انتہا،

وَمَن كَفَرَ فَلَا يَحْزُنكَ كُفْرُهُۥٓ ۚ إِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُهُمْ فَنُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُوٓا۟ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ

⦿

And whosoever disbelieveth, let not his disbelief afflict thee (O Muhammad). Unto Us is their return, and We shall tell them what they did. Lo! Allah is Aware of what is in the breasts (of men).

⦿

As for those who are faithless, let their faithlessness not grieve you. To Us will be their return, and We will inform them about what they have done. Indeed Allah knows best what is in the breasts.

⦿

(Muhammad), do not let the disbelievers grieve you. To Us they will all return and We shall tell them all about what they have done. God knows best what is in everyone's hearts.

⦿

And whoever disbelieves, let not his disbelief grieve you; to Us is their return, then will We inform them of what they did surely Allah is the Knower of what is in the breasts.

But if any reject the Faith, let not his rejection grieve you: for to Us they shall return, and We shall tell them the truth about their deeds: for God knows well all that is in the human hearts --

اور جو کفر اختیار کرلے اس کے کفر سے تم کو رنجیدہ نہیں ہونا چاہئے کہ سب کی بازگشت ہماری ہی طرف ہے اور اس وقت ہم بتائیں گے کہ انہوں نے کیا کیا ہے بیشک اللہ دلوں کے رازوں کو بھی جانتا ہے

اب جو کفر کرتا ہے اس کا کفر تمہیں غم میں مبتلا نہ کرے، انہیں پلٹ کر آنا تو ہماری ہی طرف ہے، پھر ہم انہیں بتا دیں گے کہ وہ کیا کچھ کر کے آئے ہیں یقیناً اللہ سینوں کے چھپے ہوئے راز تک جانتا ہے

⦿

اور جو کفر کرے تو تم اس کے کفر سے غم نہ کھاؤ، انھیں ہماری ہی طرف پھرنا ہے ہم انہیں بتادیں گے جو کرتے تھے بیشک اللہ دلوں کی بات جانتا ہے،

اور جو کوئی کفر اختیار کرے تو (اے رسول(ص)) اس کا کفر آپ کو غمگین نہ کرے۔ پس (اس وقت) ہم انہیں بتائیں گے کہ جو کچھ وہ کیا کرتے تھے۔ بے شک اللہ سینوں کے اندر کی باتوں کو خوب جاننے والا ہے۔

We give them comfort for a little, and then We drive them to a heavy doom.

وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُ ۚ قُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

If thou shouldst ask them: Who created the heavens and the earth? they would answer: Allah. Say: Praise be to Allah! But most of them know not.

If you ask them, [Who created the heavens and the earth?] they will surely say, [Allah.] Say, [All praise belongs to Allah!] But most of them do not know.

If you ask them, [Who has created the heavens and the earth,] they will certainly say, [God has created them.] Say, [It is only God who deserves all praise, but most of them do not know].

And if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will certainly say: Allah. Say: (All) praise is due to Allah; nay! most of them do not know.

If you should ask them, [Who created the heavens and the earth?] They will surely answer, [God.] Say, [Praise be to God!] But most of them do not understand.

اور اگر آپ ان سے سوال کریں کہ زمین و آسمان کا خالق کون ہے تو کہیں گے کہ اللہ تو پھر کہئے کہ ساری حمد اللہ کے لئے ہے اور ان کی اکثریت بالکل جاہل ہے

اگر تم اِن سے پوچھو کہ زمین اور آسمانوں کو کس نے پیدا کیا ہے، تو یہ ضرور کہیں گے کہ اللہ نے کہو الحمدللہ مگر ان میں سے اکثر لوگ جانتے نہیں ہیں

اور اگر تم ان سے پوچھو کس نے بنائے آسمان اور زمین تو ضرور کہیں گے اللہ نے، تم فرماؤ سب خوبیاں اللہ کو بلکہ ان میں اکثر جانتے نہیں،

(اے رسول(ص)) اگر آپ ان (مشرکین) سے پوچھیں کہ آسمانوں اور زمین کو کس نے پیدا کیا ہے؟ تو وہ (جواب میں) ضرور کہیں گے کہ اللہ نے! آپ کہئے! الحمدﷲ مگر ان میں سے اکثر لوگ جانتے نہیں ہیں۔

Unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth. Lo! Allah, He is the Absolute, the Owner of Praise.

وَلَوْ أَنَّمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِن شَجَرَةٍ أَقْلَٰمٌۭ وَٱلْبَحْرُ يَمُدُّهُۥ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ سَبْعَةُ أَبْحُرٍۢ مَّا نَفِدَتْ كَلِمَٰتُ ٱللَّهِ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌۭ

⦿

And if all the trees in the earth were pens, and the sea, with seven more seas to help it, (were ink), the words of Allah could not be exhausted. Lo! Allah is Mighty, Wise.

If all the trees on the earth were pens, and the sea replenished with seven more seas [were ink], the words of Allah would not be spent. Indeed Allah is all-mighty, all-wise.

If all the trees in the earth were pens and the ocean, with seven more oceans, were ink still these could not suffice to record all the Words of God. God is Majestic and All-wise.

And were every tree that is in the earth (made into) pens and the sea (to supply it with ink), with seven more seas to increase it, the words of Allah would not come to an end; surely Allah is Mighty, Wise.

If all the trees on earth were pens, and the sea [were] ink, with seven [more] seas added to it, the words of God would not be exhausted: for, truly, God is Almighty and Wise.

اور اگر روئے زمین کے تمام درخت قلم بن جائیں اور سمندر کا سہارا دینے کے لئے سات سمندر اور آ جائیں تو بھی کلمات الہٰی تمام ہونے والے نہیں ہیں بیشک اللہ صاحبِ عزت ّبھی ہے اور صاحب حکمت بھی ہے

زمین میں جتنے درخت ہیں اگر وہ سب کے سب قلم بن جائیں اور سمندر (دوات بن جائے) جسے سات مزید سمندر روشنائی مہیا کریں تب بھی اللہ کی باتیں (لکھنے سے) ختم نہ ہوں گی بے شک اللہ زبردست اور حکیم ہے

⦿

اور اگر زمین میں جتنے پیڑ ہیں سب قلمیں ہوجائیں اور سمندر اس کی سیاہی ہو اس کے پیچھے سات سمندر اور تو اللہ کی باتیں ختم نہ ہوں گی بیشک اللہ عزت و حکمت والا ہے،

اور جتنے درخت زمین میں ہیں اگر وہ سب قَلمیں بن جائیں اور سمندر (سیاہی بن جائیں) اور اس کے علاوہ سات سمندر اسے سہارا دیں (سیاہی مہیا کریں) تب بھی اللہ کے کلمات ختم نہیں ہوں گے بے شک اللہ بڑا غالب (اور) بڑا حکمت والا ہے۔

Hast thou not seen how Allah causeth the night to pass into the day and causeth the day to pass into the night, and hath subdued the sun and the moon (to do their work), each running unto an appointed term; and that Allah is Informed of what ye do?

Hast thou not seen how the ships glide on the sea by Allah's grace, that He may show you of His wonders? Lo! therein indeed are portents for every steadfast, grateful (heart).

This website is a work of passion. It exists only for a couple of reasons:

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.
