زُيِّنَ
Appears beautiful
لِلنَّاسِ
for the people
حُبُّ
attractiveness of
ٱلشَّهَوَٰتِ
the desires
مِنَ
of
ٱلنِّسَآءِ
the women,
وَٱلْبَنِينَ
and the sons,
وَٱلْقَنَٰطِيرِ
and the arches
ٱلْمُقَنطَرَةِ
the ones held up
مِنَ
from
ٱلذَّهَبِ
the gold,
وَٱلْفِضَّةِ
and the wide open spaces
وَٱلْخَيْلِ
and the noble horses
ٱلْمُسَوَّمَةِ
that are tagged,
وَٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ
and the cattle
وَٱلْحَرْثِ
and the cultivation;
ۗ
ذَٰلِكَ
that is
مَتَٰعُ
enjoyment in
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
the life of
ٱلدُّنْيَا
this life;
ۖ
وَٱللَّهُ
and the One,
عِندَهُۥ
towards Him is
حُسْنُ
a beautiful
ٱلْمَـَٔابِ
returning.
٣
١٤
زُيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ حُبُّ ٱلشَّهَوَٰتِ مِنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ وَٱلْبَنِينَ وَٱلْقَنَٰطِيرِ ٱلْمُقَنطَرَةِ مِنَ ٱلذَّهَبِ وَٱلْفِضَّةِ وَٱلْخَيْلِ ٱلْمُسَوَّمَةِ وَٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ وَٱلْحَرْثِ ۗ ذَٰلِكَ مَتَٰعُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَٱللَّهُ عِندَهُۥ حُسْنُ ٱلْمَـَٔابِ
Appears beautiful for the people attractiveness of the desires of the women, and the sons, and the arches the ones held up from the gold, and the wide open spaces and the noble horses that are tagged, and the cattle and the cultivation; that is enjoyment in the life of this life; and the One, towards Him is a beautiful returning.

Beautified for mankind is love of the joys (that come) from women and offspring; and stored-up heaps of gold and silver, and horses branded (with their mark), and cattle and land. That is comfort of the life of the world. Allah! With Him is a more excellent abode.

The love of [worldly] allures, including women and children, accumulated piles of gold and silver, horses of mark, livestock, and farms has been made to seem decorous to mankind. Those are the wares of the life of this world, but the goodness of one]s ultimate destination lies near Allah.

Worldly desires, wives, children, accumulated treasures of gold and silver, horses of noble breed, cattle, and farms are all made to seem attractive to men. All these are the bounties of the worldly life but in the life to come God has the best place for people to dwell.

قُلْ
Say,
أَؤُنَبِّئُكُم
[Should I inform you
بِخَيْرٍۢ
about better
مِّن
from
ذَٰلِكُمْ
that for you?
ۚ
لِلَّذِينَ
For the ones
ٱتَّقَوْا۟
who become aware,
عِندَ
from
رَبِّهِمْ
their Rabb
جَنَّٰتٌۭ
are gardens —
تَجْرِى
flowing
مِن
from
تَحْتِهَا
under them are
ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ
rivers —
خَٰلِدِينَ
eternalized
فِيهَا
therein,
وَأَزْوَٰجٌۭ
and partners
مُّطَهَّرَةٌۭ
who are progressive,
وَرِضْوَٰنٌۭ
and contentedness
مِّنَ
from
ٱللَّهِ
the One;
ۗ
وَٱللَّهُ
and the One is
بَصِيرٌۢ
observant
بِٱلْعِبَادِ
regarding His servants.]
٣
١٥
قُلْ أَؤُنَبِّئُكُم بِخَيْرٍۢ مِّن ذَٰلِكُمْ ۚ لِلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّٰتٌۭ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا وَأَزْوَٰجٌۭ مُّطَهَّرَةٌۭ وَرِضْوَٰنٌۭ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ بَصِيرٌۢ بِٱلْعِبَادِ
Say, [Should I inform you about better from that for you? For the ones who become aware, from their Rabb are gardens — flowing from under them are rivers — eternalized therein, and partners who are progressive, and contentedness from the One; and the One is observant regarding His servants.]

Say: Shall I inform you of something better than that? For those who keep from evil, with their Lord, are Gardens underneath which rivers flow wherein they will abide, and pure companions, and contentment from Allah. Allah is Seer of His bondmen,

Say, [Shall I inform you of something better than that? For those who are Godwary there will be gardens near their Lord, with streams running in them, to remain in them [forever], and chaste mates, and Allah]s pleasure.] And Allah watches His servants.

(Muhammad), ask them, [Shall I tell you what is far superior to worldly pleasures? Those who have fear of God will have (as their reward) gardens wherein streams flow and wherein they will live forever with their purified spouses and with the consent of God. God knows all about His servants.]

Say: Shall I tell you what is better than these? For those who guard (against evil) are gardens with their Lord, beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them, and pure mates and Allah's pleasure; and Allah sees the servants.

پیغمبر آپ کہہ دیں کہ کیا میں ان سب سے بہتر چیز کی خبر دوں- جو لوگ تقوٰی اختیار کرنے والے ہیں ان کے لئے پروردگار کے یہاں وہ باغات ہیں جن کے نیچے نہریں جاری ہیں اور وہ ان میں ہمیشہ رہنے والے ہیں . ان کے لئے پاکیزہ بیویاں ہیں اور اللہ کی خوشنودی ہے اور اللہ اپنے بندوں کے حالات سے خوب باخبر ہے

کہو: میں تمہیں بتاؤں کہ ان سے زیادہ اچھی چیز کیا ہے؟ جو لوگ تقویٰ کی روش اختیار کریں، اُن کے لیے ان کے رب کے پا س باغ ہیں، جن کے نیچے نہریں بہتی ہوں گی، وہاں انہیں ہمیشگی کی زندگی حاصل ہوگی، پاکیزہ بیویاں ان کی رفیق ہوں گی اور اللہ کی رضا سے وہ سرفراز ہوں گے اللہ اپنے بندوں کے رویے پر گہری نظر رکھتا ہے

تم فرماؤ کیا میں تمہیں اس سے بہتر چیز بتادوں پرہیزگاروں کے لئے ان کے رب کے پاس جنتیں ہیں جن کے نیچے نہریں رواں ہمیشہ ان میں رہیں گے اور ستھری بیبیاں اور اللہ کی خوشنودی اور اللہ بندوں کو دیکھتا ہے

(اے رسول(ص)) کہو۔ کیا میں تمہیں ان سب سے بہتر چیز بتاؤں؟ جن لوگوں نے پرہیزگاری اختیار کی ان کے لئے ان کے پروردگار کے یہاں ایسے بہشت ہیں جن کے نیچے نہریں جاری ہیں اور وہ ان میں ہمیشہ رہیں گے (ان کے علاوہ) پاک و پاکیزہ بیویاں ہیں اور (سب سے بڑی نعمت) خدا کی خوشنودی ہے۔ اور خدا (اپنے) بندوں کو خوب دیکھ رہا ہے۔

ٱلَّذِينَ
[The ones who
يَقُولُونَ
say,
رَبَّنَآ
— [Our Rabb!
إِنَّنَآ
Certainly we
ءَامَنَّا
have trust,
فَٱغْفِرْ
thus have forgiveness
لَنَا
for us for
ذُنُوبَنَا
our offenses
وَقِنَا
and keep us from
عَذَابَ
anguish of
ٱلنَّارِ
the fire.] — ]
٣
١٦
ٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا فَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ
[The ones who say, — [Our Rabb! Certainly we have trust, thus have forgiveness for us for our offenses and keep us from anguish of the fire.] — ]

⦿
Those who say: Our Lord! Lo! we believe. So forgive us our sins and guard us from the punishment of Fire;

Those who say, [Our Lord! Indeed, we have faith. So forgive us our sins, and save us from the punishment of the Fire.]

(Such will be the reward of) those who say, [Lord, we have believed in you. Forgive us our sins and save us from the torment of fire,]

ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
[And the persevering,
وَٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
and the truthful,
وَٱلْقَٰنِتِينَ
and the dutiful,
وَٱلْمُنفِقِينَ
and the distributers (of rizq),
وَٱلْمُسْتَغْفِرِينَ
and the ones who shield themselves
بِٱلْأَسْحَارِ
from the illusions.]
٣
١٧
ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ وَٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ وَٱلْقَٰنِتِينَ وَٱلْمُنفِقِينَ وَٱلْمُسْتَغْفِرِينَ بِٱلْأَسْحَارِ
[And the persevering, and the truthful, and the dutiful, and the distributers (of rizq), and the ones who shield themselves from the illusions.]

The steadfast, and the truthful, and the obedient, those who spend (and hoard not), those who pray for pardon in the watches of the night.

[They are] patient and truthful, obedient and charitable, and they plead for [Allah]s] forgiveness at dawns.

who exercise patience, speak the truth, who are devoted in prayer, spend their property for the cause of God and seek forgiveness from God during the last part of the night.

وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ
and the malaikati,
وَأُو۟لُوا۟
and foremost of
ٱلْعِلْمِ
the knowledge,
قَآئِمًۢا
standing together
بِٱلْقِسْطِ
with the Justice;
ۚ
لَآ
no
إِلَٰهَ
unchallenged master
إِلَّا
except
هُوَ
He who is
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
the Fortified,
ٱلْحَكِيمُ
the Most Wise.
٣
١٨
شَهِدَ ٱللَّهُ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَأُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمِ قَآئِمًۢا بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۚ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
Witnessed the One, indeed He is — no unchallenged master except Him — and the malaikati, and foremost of the knowledge, standing together with the Justice; no unchallenged master except He who is the Fortified, the Most Wise.

Allah (Himself) is Witness that there is no Allah save Him. And the angels and the men of learning (too are witness). Maintaining His creation in justice, there is no Allah save Him the Almighty, the Wise.

Allah, maintainer of justice, the Almighty and the All-wise, besides whom there is no god, bears witness that there is no god except Him, and [so do] the angels and those who possess knowledge.

اللہ خود گواہ ہے کہ اس کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے ملائکہ اور صاحبانِ علم گواہ ہیں کہ وہ عدل کے ساتھ قائم ہے- اس کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے اور وہ صاحبِ عزّت و حکمت ہے

Surely
ٱلدِّينَ
the governance system
عِندَ
from
ٱللَّهِ
the One is
ٱلْإِسْلَٰمُ
the complete commitment,
ۗ
وَمَا
and not
ٱخْتَلَفَ
disputed
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
أُوتُوا۟
were given
ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
the Book
إِلَّا
except
مِنۢ
from
بَعْدِ
after
مَا
what
جَآءَهُمُ
came to them of
ٱلْعِلْمُ
the knowledge
بَغْيًۢا
out of revulsion
بَيْنَهُمْ
between themselves;
ۗ
وَمَن
and whoever
يَكْفُرْ
denies
بِـَٔايَٰتِ
about signs of
ٱللَّهِ
the One
فَإِنَّ
then certainly
ٱللَّهَ
the One is
سَرِيعُ
swift of
ٱلْحِسَابِ
the reckoning.
٣
١٩
إِنَّ ٱلدِّينَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْإِسْلَٰمُ ۗ وَمَا ٱخْتَلَفَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْعِلْمُ بَغْيًۢا بَيْنَهُمْ ۗ وَمَن يَكْفُرْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْحِسَابِ
Surely the governance system from the One is the complete commitment, and not disputed the ones who were given the Book except from after what came to them of the knowledge out of revulsion between themselves; and whoever denies about signs of the One then certainly the One is swift of the reckoning.

Lo! religion with Allah (is) the Surrender (to His Will and Guidance). Those who (formerly) received the Scripture differed only after knowledge came unto them, through transgression among themselves. Whoso disbelieveth the revelations of Allah (will find that) lo! Allah is swift at reckoning.

Then if
حَآجُّوكَ
they argue with you
فَقُلْ
so say,
أَسْلَمْتُ
[I have submitted
وَجْهِىَ
my aim
لِلَّهِ
for the One
وَمَنِ
and who
ٱتَّبَعَنِ
followed.]
ۗ
وَقُل
And say
لِّلَّذِينَ
to the ones who
أُوتُوا۟
have been given
ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
the Book
وَٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَ
and those who have not read,
ءَأَسْلَمْتُمْ
[Do you submit?]
ۚ
فَإِنْ
Then if
أَسْلَمُوا۟
they submit
فَقَدِ
then surely
ٱهْتَدَوا۟
they are guided.
ۖ
وَّإِن
And if
تَوَلَّوْا۟
they turn back
فَإِنَّمَا
then it is only that
عَلَيْكَ
upon you is
ٱلْبَلَٰغُ
the notification;
ۗ
وَٱللَّهُ
and the One is
بَصِيرٌۢ
watchful
بِٱلْعِبَادِ
about (His) slaves.
٣
٢٠
فَإِنْ حَآجُّوكَ فَقُلْ أَسْلَمْتُ وَجْهِىَ لِلَّهِ وَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَنِ ۗ وَقُل لِّلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَ ءَأَسْلَمْتُمْ ۚ فَإِنْ أَسْلَمُوا۟ فَقَدِ ٱهْتَدَوا۟ ۖ وَّإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْبَلَٰغُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ بَصِيرٌۢ بِٱلْعِبَادِ
Then if they argue with you so say, [I have submitted my aim for the One and who followed.] And say to the ones who have been given the Book and those who have not read, [Do you submit?] Then if they submit then surely they are guided. And if they turn back then it is only that upon you is the notification; and the One is watchful about (His) slaves.

And if they argue with thee, (O Muhammad), say: I have surrendered my purpose to Allah and (so have) those who follow me. And say unto those who have received the Scripture and those who read not: Have ye (too) surrendered? If they surrender, then truly they are rightly guided, and if they turn away, then it is thy duty only to convey the message (unto them). Allah is Seer of (His) bondmen.

If they argue with you, say, [I have submitted my will to Allah, and [so has] he who follows me.] And say to those who were given the Book and the uninstructed ones, [Do you submit?] If they submit, they will certainly be guided; but if they turn away, then your duty is only to communicate, and Allah watches His servants.

(Muhammad), if the People of the Book argue against you, say, [I and those who follow me have submitted ourselves to God.] Ask the People of the Book and the illiterate ones, [Have you embraced Islam?] If they embrace Islam, they will find guidance but if they turn away, your task is just to preach. God knows all about His servants.

اب اگر یہ لوگ تم سے جھگڑا کریں، توا ن سے کہو: ——میں نے اور میرے پیروؤں نے تو اللہ کے آگے سر تسلیم خم کر دیا ہے—— پھر اہل کتاب اور غیر اہل کتاب دونوں سے پوچھو: ——کیا تم نے بھی اس کی اطاعت و بندگی قبول کی؟—— اگر کی تو وہ راہ راست پا گئے، اور اگر اس سے منہ موڑا تو تم پر صرف پیغام پہنچا دینے کی ذمہ داری تھی آگے اللہ خود اپنے بندوں کے معاملات دیکھنے والا ہے

پھر اے محبوب! اگر وہ تم سے حجت کریں تو فرمادو میں اپنا منہ اللہ کے حضور جھکائے ہوں اور جومیرے پیرو ہوئے اور کتابیوں اور اَن پڑھوں سے فرماؤ کیا تم نے گردن رکھی پس اگر وہ گردن رکھیں جب تو راہ پاگئے اور اگر منہ پھیریں تو تم پر تو یہی حکم پہنچادینا ہے اور اللہ بندوں کو کو دیکھ رہا ہے،

پس اگر یہ لوگ آپ سے خواہ مخواہ حجت بازی کریں۔ تو کہہ دو کہ میں نے اور میری پیروی کرنے والوں نے تو اپنا سر خدا کے سامنے جھکا دیا ہے (اپنے کو اس کے سپرد کر دیا ہے) اور اہل کتاب اور جو کسی کتاب کے پڑھنے والے نہیں ہیں سے کہو: کیا تم بھی اسلام لائے ہو؟ پس اگر انہوں نے اسلام کا اقرار کر لیا تو گویا ہدایت پا گئے اور اگر (اس سے) منہ موڑا تو آپ کا فرض تو صرف پہنچا دینا ہے (منوانا نہیں ہے)۔ اور اللہ (اپنے) بندوں کو خوب دیکھنے (اور پہچاننے والا ہے)۔

the revolutionary leaders
بِغَيْرِ
without
حَقٍّۢ
right,
وَيَقْتُلُونَ
and they kill (or corner)
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
يَأْمُرُونَ
set affairs
بِٱلْقِسْطِ
with justice
مِنَ
of
ٱلنَّاسِ
the people,
فَبَشِّرْهُم
thus give them good news
بِعَذَابٍ
about a punishment
أَلِيمٍ
of suffering.

٢١
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكْفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّۢ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
Surely the ones who lie about signs of the One and they kill (or corner) the revolutionary leaders without right, and they kill (or corner) the ones who set affairs with justice of the people, thus give them good news about a punishment of suffering.

Lo! those who disbelieve the revelations of Allah, and slay the prophets wrongfully, and slay those of mankind who enjoin equity: promise them a painful doom.

the World
وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
and the forth-coming,
وَمَا
and not
لَهُم
for them is
مِّن
of
نَّٰصِرِينَ
saviours.

٢٢
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَٰلُهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّٰصِرِينَ
Those are the ones who ruined their deeds in the World and the forth-coming, and not for them is of saviours.

Those are they whose works have failed in the world and the Hereafter; and they have no helpers.

ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
the Book,
يُدْعَوْنَ
them being invited
إِلَىٰ
towards
كِتَٰبِ
book of
ٱللَّهِ
the One
لِيَحْكُمَ
so they can judge
بَيْنَهُمْ
amongst themselves,
ثُمَّ
but then
يَتَوَلَّىٰ
about turn
فَرِيقٌۭ
sectarians
مِّنْهُمْ
from them
وَهُم
and they are
مُّعْرِضُونَ
apologetic?
٣
٢٣
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ نَصِيبًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَىٰ كِتَٰبِ ٱللَّهِ لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَهُمْ ثُمَّ يَتَوَلَّىٰ فَرِيقٌۭ مِّنْهُمْ وَهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ
Do not you see at the ones who are given an instalment of the Book, them being invited towards book of the One so they can judge amongst themselves, but then about turn sectarians from them and they are apologetic?

Hast thou not seen how those who have received a portion of the Scripture invoke the Scripture of Allah (in their disputes) that it may judge between them; then a faction of them turn away, being opposed (to it)?

That is
بِأَنَّهُمْ
due to their
قَالُوا۟
saying,
لَن
[Never shall
تَمَسَّنَا
touch us
ٱلنَّارُ
the fire
إِلَّآ
except
أَيَّامًۭا
for a days
مَّعْدُودَٰتٍۢ
limited in numbers],
ۖ
وَغَرَّهُمْ
and deluded them
فِى
in
دِينِهِم
their governance system
مَّا
what
كَانُوا۟
they were
يَفْتَرُونَ
inventing.
٣
٢٤
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا۟ لَن تَمَسَّنَا ٱلنَّارُ إِلَّآ أَيَّامًۭا مَّعْدُودَٰتٍۢ ۖ وَغَرَّهُمْ فِى دِينِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ
That is due to their saying, [Never shall touch us the fire except for a days limited in numbers], and deluded them in their governance system what they were inventing.

That is because they say: The Fire will not touch us save for a certain number of days. That which they used to invent hath deceived them regarding their religion.

This website is a work of passion. It exists only for a couple of reasons:

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.

Because the process must be transparent, the entire website is available for you to download. You can go through the code, and if you can make any improvements to this process, you are most welcome to. It is a humble request to update me regarding the improvements so I can also update myself.
