وَلُوطًا

وَلُوطًا إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ إِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ ٱلْفَٰحِشَةَ مَا سَبَقَكُم بِهَا مِنْ أَحَدٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

And Lot! (Remember) when he said unto his folk: Lo! ye commit lewdness such as no creature did before you.

أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ ٱلرِّجَالَ وَتَقْطَعُونَ ٱلسَّبِيلَ وَتَأْتُونَ فِى نَادِيكُمُ ٱلْمُنكَرَ ۖ فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوا۟ ٱئْتِنَا بِعَذَابِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ

⦿

For come ye not in unto males, and cut ye not the road (for travellers), and commit ye not abomination in your meetings? But the answer of his folk was only that they said: Bring Allah's doom upon us if thou art a truthteller!

What! Do you come to men, and cut off the way, and commit outrages in your gatherings?] But the only answer of his people was that they said, [Bring down us Allah]s punishment, if you are truthful.]

Do you engage in carnal relations with men, rob the travellers, and commit evil in your gatherings? His people had no answer but to say, [Bring upon us the torment of God if you are truthful].

What! do you come to the males and commit robbery on the highway, and you commit evil deeds in your assemblies? But nothing was the answer of his people except that they said: Bring on us Allah's punishment, if you are one of the truthful.

تم لوگ مذِدوں سے جنسی تعلّقات پیدا کررہے ہو اور راستے قطع کررہے ہو اور اپنی محفلوں میں برائیوں کو انجام دے رہے ہو .... تو ان کی قوم کے پاس اس کے علاوہ کوئی جواب نہ تھا کہ اگر تم صادقین میں سے ہو تو وہ عذاب هالٰہی لے آؤ جس کی خبر دے رہے ہو

کیا تمہارا حال یہ ہے کہ مَردوں کے پاس جاتے ہو، اور رہزنی کرتے ہو اور اپنی مجلسوں میں بُرے کام کرتے ہو؟—— پھر کوئی جواب اس کی قوم کے پاس اس کے سوا نہ تھا کہ انہوں نے کہا ——لے آ اللہ کا عذاب اگر تو سچّا ہے——

وَلَمَّا جَآءَتْ رُسُلُنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ بِٱلْبُشْرَىٰ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا مُهْلِكُوٓا۟ أَهْلِ هَٰذِهِ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ ۖ إِنَّ أَهْلَهَا كَانُوا۟ ظَٰلِمِينَ

And when Our messengers brought Abraham the good news, they said: Lo! we are about to destroy the people of that township, for its people are wrong-doers.

And when Our messengers came to Abraham with the good news, they said, [We are indeed going to destroy the people of this town. Its people are indeed wrongdoers.]

When Our angelic Messengers brought glad news to Abraham, they told him, [We are about to destroy the people of this town for their injustice].

And when Our apostles came to Ibrahim with the good news, they said: Surely we are going to destroy the people of this town, for its people are unjust.

When Our messengers brought Abraham the good news [of the birth of Isaac] they [also] said, [We are indeed going to destroy the people of this city, for the people of this city are truly wrongdoers.]

اور جب ہمارے نمائندہ فرشتے ابراہیم کے پاس بشارت لے کر آئے اور انہوں نے یہ خبر سنائی کہ ہم اس بستی والوں کو ہلاک کرنا چاہتے ہیں کہ اس بستی کے لوگ بڑے ظالم ہیں

اور جب ہمارے فرستادے ابراہیمؑ کے پاس بشارت لے کر پہنچے تو انہوں نے اُس سے کہا ——ہم اِس بستی کے لوگوں کو ہلاک کرنے والے ہیں، اس کے لوگ سخت ظالم ہو چکے ہیں——

اور جب ہمارے فرشتے ابراہیم کے پاس مژدہ لے کر آئے بولے ہم ضرور اس شہر والوں کو ہلاک کریں گے بیشک اس کے بسنے والے ستمگاروں ہیں،

قَالَ إِنَّ فِيهَا لُوطًۭا ۚ قَالُوا۟ نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن فِيهَا ۖ لَنُنَجِّيَنَّهُۥ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ كَانَتْ مِنَ ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ

He said: Lo! Lot is there. They said: We are best aware of who is there. We are to deliver him and his household, all save his wife, who is of those who stay behind.

He said, [Lot is in it.] They said, [We know better those who are in it. We will surely deliver him and his family, except his wife: she shall be one of those who remain behind.]

وَلَمَّآ أَن جَآءَتْ رُسُلُنَا لُوطًۭا سِىٓءَ بِهِمْ وَضَاقَ بِهِمْ ذَرْعًۭا وَقَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ ۖ إِنَّا مُنَجُّوكَ وَأَهْلَكَ إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَكَ كَانَتْ مِنَ ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ

And when Our messengers came unto Lot, he was troubled upon their account, for he could not protect them; but they said: Fear not, nor grieve! Lo! we are to deliver thee and thy household, (all) save thy wife, who is of those who stay behind.

And when Our messengers came to Lot, he was distressed on their account and in a predicament for their sake. But they said, [Do not be afraid, nor grieve! We shall deliver you and your family, except your wife: she will be one of those who remain behind.

پھر جب ہمارے فرشتے لوط کے پاس آئے تو وہ پریشان ہوگئے اور ان کی مہمانی کی طرف سے دل تنگ ہونے لگے ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ آپ ڈریں نہیں اور پریشان نہ ہوں ہم آپ کو اور آپ کے گھر والوں کو بچالیں گے صرف آپ کی زوجہ کو نہیں کہ وہ پیچھے رہ جانے والوں میں ہوگئی ہے

پھر جب ہمارے فرستادے لوطؑ کے پاس پہنچے تو ان کی آمد پر وہ سخت پریشان اور دل تنگ ہوا اُنہوں نے کہا ——نہ ڈرو اور نہ رنج کرو ہم تمہیں اور تمہارے گھر والوں کو بچا لیں گے، سوائے تمہاری بیوی کے جو پیچھے رہ جانے والوں میں سے ہے

اور جب ہمارے فرشتے لوط کے پاس آئے ان کا آنا اسے ناگوار ہوا اور ان کے سبب دل تنگ ہوا اور انہوں نے کہا نہ ڈریے اور نہ غم کیجئے بیشک ہم آپ کو اور آپ کے گھر والوں کو نجات دیں گے مگر آپ کی عورت وہ رہ جانے والوں میں ہے،

And verily of that We have left a clear sign for people who have sense.

And unto Midian We sent Shu'eyb, their brother. He said: O my people! Serve Allah, and look forward to the Last Day, and do not evil, making mischief, in the earth.

And to Midian We sent Shu[ayb, their brother. He said, [O my people! Worship Allah, and expect [to encounter] the Last Day, and do not act wickedly on the earth causing corruption.]

But they denied him, and the dreadful earthquake took them, and morning found them prostrate in their dwelling place.

And (the tribes of) A'ad and Thamud! (Their fate) is manifest unto you from their (ruined and deserted) dwellings. Satan made their deeds seem fair unto them and so debarred them from the Way, though they were keen observers.

And Korah, Pharaoh and Haman! Moses came unto them with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), but they were boastful in the land. And they were not winners (in the race).

And Korah, Pharaoh, and Haman. Certainly, Moses brought them manifest proofs, but they acted arrogantly in the land; though they could not outmaneuver [Allah].

Korah, the Pharaoh, and Haman were also destroyed. Moses had brought them illustrious miracles, but they were puffed-up with pride in the land and they could not defeat Us.

And (We destroyed) Qaroun and Firon and Haman; and certainly Musa came to them with clear arguments, but they behaved haughtily in the land; yet they could not outstrip (Us).

فَكُلًّا أَخَذْنَا بِذَنۢبِهِۦ ۖ فَمِنْهُم مَّنْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ حَاصِبًۭا وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ أَخَذَتْهُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ خَسَفْنَا بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ أَغْرَقْنَا ۚ وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ

So We took each one in his sin; of them was he on whom We sent a hurricane, and of them was he who was overtaken by the (Awful) Cry, and of them was he whom We caused the earth to swallow, and of them was he whom We drowned. It was not for Allah to wrong them, but they wronged themselves.

So We seized each [of them] for his sin: among them were those upon whom We unleashed a rain of stones, and among them were those who were seized by the Cry, and among them were those whom We caused the earth to swallow, and among them were those whom We drowned. We punished all of these people because of their sin. Some of them were struck by a violent sand-storm, some by a blast of sound, others were swallowed up by the earth, and some were drowned (in the sea). God did not do injustice to them, but they had wronged themselves.

آخر کار ہر ایک کو ہم نے اس کے گناہ میں پکڑا، پھر ان میں سے کسی پر ہم نے پتھراؤ کرنے والی ہوا بھیجی، اور کسی کو ایک زبردست دھماکے نے آ لیا، اور کسی کو ہم نے زمین میں دھسا دیا، اور کسی کو غرق کر دیا اللہ اُن پر ظلم کرنے والا نہ تھا، مگر وہ خود ہی اپنے اوپر ظلم کر رہے تھے

تو ان میں ہر ایک کو ہم نے اس کے گناہ پر پکڑا تو ان میں کسی پر ہم نے پتھراؤ بھیجا اور ان میں کسی کو چنگھاڑ نے آلیا اور ان میں کسی کو زمین میں دھنسادیا اور ان میں کسی کو ڈبو دیا اور اللہ کی شان نہ تھی کہ ان پر ظلم کرے ہاں وہ خود ہی اپنی جانوں پر ظلم کرتے تھے،

The likeness of those who choose other patrons than Allah is as the likeness of the spider when she taketh unto herself a house, and lo! the frailest of all houses is the spider's house, if they but knew.

The parable of those who take guardians instead of Allah is that of the spider that takes a home, and indeed the frailest of homes is the home of a spider, had they known!

The belief of considering other things as one's guardians besides God is as feeble as a spider's web. The spider's web is the frailest of all dwellings, if only they knew it.

The parable of those who take guardians besides Allah is as the parable of the spider that makes for itself a house; and most surely the frailest of the houses is the spider's house did they but know.

This website is a work of passion. It exists only for a couple of reasons:

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.

Because the process must be transparent, the entire website is available for you to download. You can go through the code, and if you can make any improvements to this process, you are most welcome to. It is a humble request to update me regarding the improvements so I can also update myself.
