وَرَحْمَةًۭ

لَّعَلَّهُمْ

يَتَذَكَّرُونَ

وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَٰبَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَآ أَهْلَكْنَا ٱلْقُرُونَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ بَصَآئِرَ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدًۭى وَرَحْمَةًۭ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And We verily gave the Scripture unto Moses after We had destroyed the generations of old: clear testimonies for mankind, and a guidance and a mercy, that haply they might reflect. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Certainly We gave Moses the Book, after We had destroyed the former generations, as [a set of] eye-openers, guidance and mercy for mankind, so that they may take admonition. - Qarai, Ali Quli

اور بیشک ہم نے موسیٰ کو کتاب عطا فرمائی بعد اس کے کہ اگلی سنگتیں (قومیں) ہلاک فرمادیں جس میں لوگوں کے دل کی آنکھیں کھولنے والی باتیں اور ہدایت اور رحمت تاکہ وہ نصیحت مانیں، - Ahmed Raza

وَمَا كُنتَ بِجَانِبِ ٱلْغَرْبِىِّ إِذْ قَضَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَى ٱلْأَمْرَ وَمَا كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And thou (Muhammad) wast not on the western side (of the Mount) when We expounded unto Moses the commandment, and thou wast not among those present; - Pickthall, Marmaduke

You were not on the western side when We revealed the commandments to Moses, nor were you among the witnesses. - Qarai, Ali Quli

(Muhammad), you were not present at the west bank to witness when We gave the commandments to Moses. - Sarwar, Muhammad

اور آپ اس وقت طور کے مغربی رخ پر نہ تھے جب ہم نے موسٰی کی طرف اپنا حکم بھیجا اور آپ اس واقعہ کے حاضرین میں سے بھی نہیں تھے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

(اے محمدؐ) تم اُس وقت مغربی گوشے میں موجود نہ تھے جب ہم نے موسیٰؑ کو یہ فرمان شریعت عطا کیا، اور نہ تم شاہدین میں شامل تھے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور تم طور کی جانت مغرب میں نہ تھے جبکہ ہم نے موسیٰ کو رسالت کا حکم بھیجا اور اس وقت تم حاضر نہ تھے، - Ahmed Raza

وَلَٰكِنَّآ أَنشَأْنَا قُرُونًۭا فَتَطَاوَلَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْعُمُرُ ۚ وَمَا كُنتَ ثَاوِيًۭا فِىٓ أَهْلِ مَدْيَنَ تَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا وَلَٰكِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

But We brought forth generations, and their lives dragged on for them. And thou wast not a dweller in Midian, reciting unto them Our revelations, but We kept sending (messengers to men). - Pickthall, Marmaduke

But We brought forth other generations and time took its toll on them. You did not dwell among the people of Midian reciting to them Our signs, but it is We who are the senders [of the apostles]. - Qarai, Ali Quli

But We raised many generations after Moses and they lived for many years. You did not dwell with the people of Midian reciting Our revelations to them, but We had certainly sent Messengers to them. - Sarwar, Muhammad

But We raised up generations, then life became prolonged to them; and you were not dwelling among the people of Madyan, reciting to them Our communications, but We were the senders. - Shakir, Habib

We brought into being many generations who lived long lives, nor did you live among the people of Midian and recite our revelations to them, it is We who send messengers, - Wahiduddin Khan

لیکن ہم نے بہت سی قوموں کو پیدا کیا پھر ان پر ایک طویل زمانہ گزر گیا اور آپ تو اہل مدین میں بھی مقیم نہیں تھے کہ انہیں ہماری آیتیں پڑھ کر سناتے لیکن ہم رسول بنانے والے توتھے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

بلکہ اس کے بعد (تمہارے زمانے تک) ہم بہت سی نسلیں اٹھا چکے ہیں اور ان پر بہت زمانہ گزر چکا ہے تم اہلِ مَدیَن کے درمیان بھی موجود نہ تھے کہ اُن کو ہماری آیات سُنا رہے ہوتے، مگر (اُس وقت کی یہ خبریں) بھیجنے والے ہم ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

مگر ہوا یہ کہ ہم نے سنگتیں پیدا کیں کہ ان پر زمانہ دراز گزرا اور نہ تم اہلِ مدین میں مقیم تھے ان پر ہماری آیتیں پڑھتے ہوئے، ہاں ہم رسول بنانے والے ہوئے - Ahmed Raza

لیکن ہم نے (اس اثناء میں) کئی نسلیں پیدا کیں اور ان پر زمانہ دراز گزر گیا ہے (اور ہمارے عہد و پیمان کو بھلا دیا) اور نہ ہی آپ مدین والوں میں مقیم تھے کہ ان کو ہماری آیتیں پڑھ کر سناتے لیکن ہم (آپ کو) رسول بنا کر بھیجنے والے تھے (اس لئے ان کے حالات سے آپ کو آگاہ کیا)۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

وَمَا كُنتَ بِجَانِبِ ٱلطُّورِ إِذْ نَادَيْنَا وَلَٰكِن رَّحْمَةًۭ مِّن رَّبِّكَ لِتُنذِرَ قَوْمًۭا مَّآ أَتَىٰهُم مِّن نَّذِيرٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And thou was not beside the Mount when We did call; but (the knowledge of it is) a mercy from thy Lord that thou mayst warn a folk unto whom no warner came before thee, that haply they may give heed. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And you were not on the side of the Mount when We called out [to Moses], but [We have sent you as] a mercy from your Lord that you may warn a people to whom there did not come any warner before you, so that they may take admonition. - Qarai, Ali Quli

You had not been present at the side of the Mount (Sinai) when We called Moses (from the tree), but through Our mercy we told you his story so that you might warn the people - Sarwar, Muhammad

اور آپ طِور کے کسی جانب اس وقت نہیں تھے جب ہم نے موسٰی کو آواز دی لیکن آپ کے پروردگار کی رحمت ہے کہ آپ اس قوم کو ڈرائیں جس کی طرف آپ سے پہلے کوئی پیغمبر نہیں آیا ہے کہ شاید وہ اس طرح عبرت اور نصیحت حاصل کرلیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور تم طور کے دامن میں بھی اُس وقت موجود نہ تھے جب ہم نے (موسیٰؑ کو پہلی مرتبہ) پکارا تھا، مگر یہ تمہارے رب کی رحمت ہے (کہ تم کو یہ معلومات دی جار ہی ہیں) تاکہ تم اُن لوگوں کو متنبّہ کر دو جن کے پاس تم سے پہلے کوئی متنبّہ کرنے والا نہیں آیا، شاید کہ وہ ہوش میں آئیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور نہ تم طور کے کنارے تھے جب ہم نے ندا فرمائی ہاں تمہارے رب کی مہر ہے (کہ تمہیں غیب کے علم دیے) کہ تم ایسی قوم کو ڈر سناؤ جس کے پاس تم سے پہلے کوئی ڈر سنانے والا نہ آیا یہ امید کرتے ہوئے کہ ان کو نصیحت ہو، - Ahmed Raza

اور نہ آپ کوہ طور کے دامن میں موجود تھے جب ہم نے (موسیٰ کو) ندا دی تھی لیکن یہ (آپ کا مبعوث برسالت ہونا) آپ کے پروردگار کی رحمت ہے تاکہ آپ اس قوم کو ڈرائیں جس کے پاس آپ سے پہلے کوئی ڈرانے والا نہیں آیا تاکہ وہ نصیحت حاصل کریں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

وَلَوْلَآ أَن تُصِيبَهُم مُّصِيبَةٌۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ فَيَقُولُوا۟ رَبَّنَا لَوْلَآ أَرْسَلْتَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولًۭا فَنَتَّبِعَ ءَايَٰتِكَ وَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

Otherwise, if disaster should afflict them because of that which their own hands have sent before (them), they might say: Our Lord! Why sentest Thou no messenger unto us, that we might have followed Thy revelations and been of the believers? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And lest—if an affliction were to befall them because of what their hands have sent ahead —they should say, [Our Lord! Why did You not send us an apostle so that we might have followed Your signs and been among the faithful?] - Qarai, Ali Quli

to whom no warner had been sent that perhaps they might take heed, and that, on experiencing afflictions because of their own deeds, they may not say, [Lord, would that You had sent to us a Messenger so that we could follow Your revelations and become believers]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And were it not that there should befall them a disaster for what their hands have sent before, then they should say: Our Lord! why didst Thou not send to us an apostle so that we should have followed Thy communications and been of the believers! - Shakir, Habib

and may not say, if an affliction should befall them on account of their misdeeds: [Lord, if only You had sent us a messenger, we might have followed Your message and become believers.] - Wahiduddin Khan

اور اگر ایسا نہ ہوتا کہ جب ان پر گذشتہ اعمال کی بنا پر کوئی مصیبت نازل ہوتی تو یہی کہتے کہ پروردگار تو نے ہماری طرف کوئی رسول کیوں نہیں بھیجا ہے کہ ہم تیری نشانیوں کی پیروی کرتے اور صاحبان ایمان میں شامل ہوجاتے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

(اور یہ ہم نے اس لیے کیا کہ) کہیں ایسا نہ ہو کہ اُن کے اپنے کیے کرتوتوں کی بدولت کوئی مصیبت جب اُن پر آئے تو وہ کہیں ——اے پروردگار، تُو نے کیوں نہ ہماری طرف کوئی رسول بھیجا کہ ہم تیری آیات کی پیروی کرتے اور اہلِ ایمان میں سے ہوتے—— - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور اگر نہ ہوتا کہ کبھی پہنچتی انہیں کوئی مصیبت اس کے سبب جو ان کے ہاتھوں نے آگے بھیجا تو کہتے، اے ہمارے رب! تو نے کیوں نہ بھیجا ہماری طرف کوئی رسول کہ ہم تیری آیتوں کی پیروی کرتے اور ایمان لاتے - Ahmed Raza

(اور شاید ہم رسول نہ بھیجتے) اگر یہ بات نہ ہوتی کہ اگر ان کے کرتوتوں کی پاداش میں انہیں کوئی مصیبت پہنچے تو وہ یہ نہ کہنے لگ جائیں کہ اے ہمارے پروردگار تو نے ہماری طرف کوئی رسول کیوں نہ بھیجا تاکہ ہم تیری آیتوں کی پیروی کرتے اور ہم ایمان لانے والوں میں سے ہوتے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْحَقُّ مِنْ عِندِنَا قَالُوا۟ لَوْلَآ أُوتِىَ مِثْلَ مَآ أُوتِىَ مُوسَىٰٓ ۚ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفُرُوا۟ بِمَآ أُوتِىَ مُوسَىٰ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ قَالُوا۟ سِحْرَانِ تَظَٰهَرَا وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا بِكُلٍّۢ كَٰفِرُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

But when there came unto them the Truth from Our presence, they said: Why is he not given the like of what was given unto Moses? Did they not disbelieve in that which was given unto Moses of old? They say: Two magics that support each other; and they say: Lo! in both we are disbelievers. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

But when there came to them the truth from Us, they said, [Why has he not been given the like of what Moses was given?] Did they not disbelieve what Moses was given before, and said, [Two magicians abetting each other,] and said, [Indeed we disbelieve both of them]? - Qarai, Ali Quli

When the Truth from Us came to them they said, [Would that he, (Muhammad), had received what was given to Moses (by his Lord).] Did not they reject what Moses had brought to them saying, [These two, Moses and Aaron, are two magicians who support each other. We do not have any faith in them.] - Sarwar, Muhammad

But (now) when the truth has come to them from Us, they say: Why is he not given the like of what was given to Musa? What! did they not disbelieve in what Musa was given before? They say: Two magicians backing up each other; and they say: Surely we are unbelievers in all. - Shakir, Habib

But when the truth came to them from Us, they said, [Why has he not been given the like of what Moses was given?] But did they not reject what Moses was given before? They said, [Both [Moses and Muhammad] are kinds of sorcery, each assisting the other.] And they add, [We reject both of them.] - Wahiduddin Khan

پھر اس کے بعد جب ہماری طرف سے حق آگیا تو کہنے لگے کہ انہیں وہ سب کیوں نہیں دیا گیا ہے جو موسٰی کو دیا گیا تھا تو کیا ان لوگوں نے اس سے پہلے موسٰی کا انکار نہیں کیا اور اب تو کہتے ہیں کہ توریت اور قرآن جادو ہے جو ایک دوسرے کی تائید کرتے ہیں اور ہم دونوں ہی کا انکار کرنے والے ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

مگر جب ہمارے ہاں سے حق ان کے پاس آ گیا تو وہ کہنے لگے ——کیوں نہ دیا گیا اِس کو وہی کچھ جو موسیٰؑ کو دیا گیا تھا؟—— کیا یہ لوگ اُس کا انکار نہیں کر چکے ہیں جو اس سے پہلے موسیٰؑ کو دیا گیا تھا؟ انہوں نے کہا ——دونوں جادوگر ہیں جو ایک دُوسرے کی مدد کرتے ہیں—— اور کہا ——ہم کسی کو نہیں مانتے—— - Maududi, Abul A'ala

پھر جب ان کے پاس حق آیا ہماری طرف سے بولے انہیں کیوں نہ دیا گیا جو موسیٰ کو دیا گیا کیا اس کے منکر نہ ہوئے تھے جو پہلے موسیٰ کو دیا گیا بولے دو جادو ہیں ایک دوسرے کی پشتی (امداد) پر، اور بولے ہم ان دونوں کے منکر ہیں - Ahmed Raza

جب ہماری طرف سے ان کے پاس حق آگیا (آخری برحق رسول آگیا) تو کہنے لگے اس (رسول) کو وہ کچھ کیوں نہ دیا گیا جو موسیٰ کو دیا گیا تھا کیا انہوں نے اس کا انکار نہیں کیا تھا؟ وہ کہتے ہیں کہ یہ دونوں جادوگر ہیں جو ایک دوسرے کی مدد کرتے ہیں اور کہتے تھے کہ ہم ہر ایک کے منکر ہیں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Then bring a scripture from the presence of Allah that giveth clearer guidance than these two (that) I may follow it, if ye are truthful. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Say, [If you are truthful, bring some Book from Allah better in guidance than the two on them so that I may follow it.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

(Muhammad), tell them, [Bring a Book if you are able to, from God better in its guidance than the Torah and the Quran; I shall follow it]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Say: Then bring some (other) book from Allah which is a better guide than both of them, (that) I may follow it, if you are truthful. - Shakir, Habib

فَإِن لَّمْ يَسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لَكَ فَٱعْلَمْ أَنَّمَا يَتَّبِعُونَ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۚ وَمَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّنِ ٱتَّبَعَ هَوَىٰهُ بِغَيْرِ هُدًۭى مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And if they answer thee not, then know that what they follow is their lusts. And who goeth farther astray than he who followeth his lust without guidance from Allah. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Then if they do not respond to you[r] [summons], know that they only follow their desires, and who is more astray than him who follows his desires without any guidance from Allah? Indeed Allah does not guide the wrongdoing lot. - Qarai, Ali Quli

If they cannot meet such a challenge, know that they are only following their (evil) desires. Who strays more than one who follows his desires without guidance from God? God does not guide the unjust people. - Sarwar, Muhammad

But if they do not answer you, then know that they only follow their low desires; and who is more erring than he who follows his low desires without any guidance from Allah? Surely Allah does not guide the unjust people. - Shakir, Habib

If they do not respond to you, then know that they follow only their own desires. Who could be more astray than he who follows his own likes and dislikes with no guidance from God? God does not guide the evil-doers. - Wahiduddin Khan

پھر اگر قبول نہ کریں تو سمجھ لیجئے کہ یہ صرف اپنی خواہشات کا اتباع کرنے والے ہیں اور اس سے زیادہ گمراہ کون ہے جو خدائی ہدایت کے بغیر اپنی خواہشات کا اتباع کرلے جب کہ اللہ ظالم قوم کی ہدایت کرنے والا نہیں ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اب اگر وہ تمہارا یہ مطالبہ پورا نہیں کرتے تو سمجھ لو کہ دراصل یہ اپنی خواہشات کے پیرو ہیں، اور اُس شخص سے بڑھ کر کون گمراہ ہو گا جو خدائی ہدایت کے بغیر بس اپنی خواہشات کی پیروی کرے؟ اللہ ایسے ظالموں کو ہرگز ہدایت نہیں بخشتا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور اگر وہ آپ کی یہ بات قبول نہ کریں تو پھر سمجھ لیں کہ وہ صرف اپنی نفسانی خواہشوں کی پیروی کرتے ہیں اور اس شخص سے بڑھ کر گمراہ کون ہوگا جو خدائی ہدایت کے بغیر اپنی خواہش نفس کی پیروی کرے؟ بےشک خدا ظالم لوگوں کو ہدایت نہیں کرتا۔ - Najafi, Muhammad
