And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and be modest, and to display of their adornment only that which is apparent, and to draw their veils over their bosoms, and not to reveal their adornment save to their own husbands or fathers or husbands' fathers, or their sons or their husbands' sons, or their brothers or their brothers' sons or sisters' sons, or their women, or their slaves, or male attendants who lack vigour, or children who know naught of women's nakedness. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And turn unto Allah together, O believers, in order that ye may succeed. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And tell the faithful women to cast down their looks and to guard their private parts, and not to display their charms, beyond what is [acceptably] visible, and let them draw their scarfs over their bosoms, and not display their charms except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband]s fathers, or their sons, or their husband]s sons, or their brothers, or their brothers] sons, or their sisters] sons, or their women, or their slave girls, or male dependants lacking [sexual] desire, or children who are not yet conscious of female sexuality. And let them not thump their feet to make known their hidden ornaments. Rally to Allah in repentance, O faithful, so that you may be felicitous. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Tell the believing woman to cast down their eyes, guard their chastity, and not to show off their beauty except what is permitted by the law. Let them cover their breasts with their veils. They must not show off their beauty to anyone other than their husbands, father, father-in-laws, sons, step-sons, brothers, sons of brothers and sisters, women of their kind, their slaves, immature male servants, or immature boys. They must not stamp their feet to show off their hidden ornaments. All of you believers, turn to God in repentance so that perhaps you will have everlasting happiness. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And say to the believing women that they cast down their looks and guard their private parts and do not display their ornaments except what appears thereof, and let them wear their head-coverings over their bosoms, and not display their ornaments except to their husbands or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or those whom their right hands possess, or the male servants not having need (of women), or the children who have not attained knowledge of what is hidden of women; and let them not strike their feet so that what they hide of their ornaments may be known; and turn to Allah all of you, O believers! so that you may be successful. - Shakir, Habib

Say to believing women that they should lower their gaze and remain chaste and not to reveal their adornments -- save what is normally apparent thereof, and they should fold their shawls over their bosoms. They can only reveal their adornments to their husbands or their fathers or their husbands' fathers, or their sons or their husbands' sons or their brothers or their brothers' sons or their sisters' sons or maidservants or those whom their right hands possess or their male attendants who have no sexual desire or children who still have no carnal knowledge of women. Nor should they swing their legs to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. Believers, turn to God, every one of you, so that you may prosper. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور مومنات سے کہہ دیجئے کہ وہ بھی اپنی نگاہوں کو نیچا رکھیں اور اپنی عفت کی حفاظت کریں اور اپنی زینت کا اظہار نہ کریں علاوہ اس کے جو ازخود ظاہر ہے اور اپنے دوپٹہ کو اپنے گریبان پر رکھیں اور اپنی زینت کو اپنے باپ دادا.شوہر. شوہر کے باپ دادا .اپنی اولاد ,اور اپنے شوہر کی اولاد اپنے بھائی اور بھائیوں کی اولاد اور بہنوں کی اولاد اور اپنی عورتوں اور اپنے غلام اور کنیزوں اور ایسے تابع افراد جن میں عورت کی طرف سے کوئی خواہش نہیں رہ گئی ہے اور وہ بچےّ جو عورتوں کے پردہ کی بات سے کوئی سروکار نہیں رکھتے ہیں ان سب کے علاوہ کسی پر ظاہر نہ کریں اور خبردار اپنے پاؤں پٹک کر نہ چلیں کہ جس زینت کو چھپائے ہوئے ہیں اس کا اظہار ہوجائے اور صاحبانِ ایمان تم سب اللہ کی بارگاہ میں توبہ کرتے رہو کہ شاید اسی طرح تمہیں فلاح اور نجات حاصل ہوجائے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور اے نبیؐ، مومن عورتوں سے کہہ دو کہ اپنی نظریں بچا کر رکھیں، اور اپنی شرمگاہوں کی حفاظت کریں، اور اپنا بناؤ سنگھار نہ دکھائیں بجز اُس کے جو خود ظاہر ہو جائے، اور اپنے سینوں پر اپنی اوڑھنیوں کے آنچل ڈالے رہیں وہ اپنا بناؤ سنگھار نہ ظاہر کریں مگر اِن لوگوں کے سامنے: شوہر، باپ، شوہروں کے باپ، اپنے بیٹے، شوہروں کے بیٹے، بھائی، بھائیوں کے بیٹے، بہنوں کے بیٹے، اپنے میل جول کی عورتیں، ا پنے مملوک، وہ زیردست مرد جو کسی اور قسم کی غرض نہ رکھتے ہوں، اور وہ بچے جو عورتوں کی پوشیدہ باتوں سے ابھی واقف نہ ہوئے ہوں وہ ا پنے پاؤں زمین پر مارتی ہوئی نہ چلا کریں کہ اپنی جو زینت انہوں نے چھپا رکھی ہو اس کا لوگوں کو علم ہو جائے اے مومنو، تم سب مل کر اللہ سے توبہ کرو، توقع ہے کہ فلاح پاؤ گے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور مسلمان عورتوں کو حکم دو اپنی نگاہیں کچھ نیچی رکھیں اور اپنی پارسائی کی حفاظت کریں اور اپنا بناؤ نہ دکھائیں مگر جتنا خود ہی ظاہر ہے اور وہ دوپٹے اپنے گریبانوں پر ڈالے رہیں، اور اپنا سنگھار ظاہر نہ کریں مگر اپنے شوہروں پر یا اپنے باپ یا شوہروں کے باپ یا اپنے بیٹوں یا شوہروں کے بیٹے یا اپنے بھائی یا اپنے بھتیجے یا اپنے بھانجے یا اپنے دین کی عورتیں یا اپنی کنیزیں جو اپنے ہاتھ کی ملک ہوں یا نوکر بشرطیکہ شہوت والے مرد نہ ہوں یا وہ بچے جنہیں عورتوں کی شرم کی چیزوں کی خبر نہیں اور زمین پر پاؤں زور سے نہ رکھیں کہ جانا جائے ان کا چھپا ہوا سنگھار اور اللہ کی طرف توبہ کرو اے مسلمانو! سب کے سب اس امید پر کہ تم فلاح پاؤ، - Ahmed Raza

اور (اے رسول(ص)) آپ مؤمن عورتوں سے کہہ دیجئے! کہ وہ اپنی نگاہیں نیچی رکھیں اور اپنی شرمگاہوں کی حفاطت کریں اور اپنی زینت و آرائش کو ظاہر نہ کریں سوائے اس کے جو خود ظاہر ہو اور چاہیے کہ وہ اپنی اوڑھنیاں اپنے گریبانوں پر ڈالے رہیں اور اپنی زیبائش و آرائش ظاہر نہ کریں سوائے اپنے شوہروں کے، یا اپنے باپ داداؤں کے، یا اپنے شوہروں کے باپ داداؤں کے، یا اپنے بیٹوں کے یا اپنے شوہروں کے بیٹوں کے، یا اپنے بھائیوں کے یا اپنے بھتیجوں کے یا اپنے بھانجوں کے یا اپنے (ہم مذہب) عورتوں کے یا اپنے غلاموں یا لونڈیوں کے یا اپنے نوکروں چاکروں کے جو جنسی خواہش نہ رکھتے ہوں۔ یا ان بچوں کے جو ابھی عورتوں کی پردہ والی باتوں سے واقف نہیں ہیں اور وہ اپنے پاؤں (زمین پر) اس طرح نہ ماریں کہ جس سے ان کی وہ زیبائش و آرائش معلوم ہو جائے جسے وہ چھپائے ہوئے ہیں۔ اے اہل ایمان! تم سب مل کر اللہ کی بارگاہ میں توبہ کرو۔ تاکہ تم فلاح پاؤ۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

And marry such of you as are solitary and the pious of your slaves and maid-servants. If they be poor, Allah will enrich them of His bounty. Allah is of ample means, Aware. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

تم میں سے جو لوگ مجرد ہوں، اور تمہارے لونڈی غلاموں میں سے جو صالح ہوں، ان کے نکاح کر دو اگر وہ غریب ہوں تو اللہ اپنے فضل سے اُن کو غنی کر دے گا، اللہ بڑی وسعت والا اور علیم ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور نکاح کردو اپنوں میں ان کا جو بے نکاح ہوں اور اپنے لائق بندوں اور کنیزوں کا اگر وہ فقیر ہوں تو اللہ انہیں غنی کردے گا اپنے فضل کے سبب اور اللہ وسعت والا علم والا ہے، - Ahmed Raza

وَلْيَسْتَعْفِفِ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ نِكَاحًا حَتَّىٰ يُغْنِيَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ ۗ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَبْتَغُونَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ مِمَّا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ فَكَاتِبُوهُمْ إِنْ عَلِمْتُمْ فِيهِمْ خَيْرًۭا ۖ وَءَاتُوهُم مِّن مَّالِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِىٓ ءَاتَىٰكُمْ ۚ وَلَا تُكْرِهُوا۟ فَتَيَٰتِكُمْ عَلَى ٱلْبِغَآءِ إِنْ أَرَدْنَ تَحَصُّنًۭا لِّتَبْتَغُوا۟ عَرَضَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ وَمَن يُكْرِههُّنَّ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ إِكْرَٰهِهِنَّ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And let those who cannot find a match keep chaste till Allah give them independence by His grace. And such of your slaves as seek a writing (of emancipation), write it for them if ye are aware of aught of good in them, and bestow upon them of the wealth of Allah which He hath bestowed upon you. Force not your slave-girls to whoredom that ye may seek enjoyment of the life of the world, if they would preserve their chastity. And if one force them, then (unto them), after their compulsion, lo! Allah will be Forgiving, Merciful. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Those who cannot afford marriage should be continent until Allah enriches them out of His grace. As for those who seek an emancipation deal from among your slaves, make such a deal with them if you know any good in them, and give them out of the wealth of Allah which He has given you. Do not compel your female slaves to prostitution when they desire to be chaste, seeking the transitory wares of the life of this world. Should anyone compel them, Allah will be forgiving and merciful to them following their compulsion. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Let those who cannot find someone to marry maintain chastity until God makes them rich through His favors. Let the slaves who want to buy their freedom have an agreement with you in writing if you find them to be virtuous. Give them money out of God's property which He has given to you. Do not force your girls into prostitution to make money if they want to be chaste. If they have been compelled to do so, God will be All-merciful and All-forgiving to them. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Those who do not have the means to marry should keep themselves chaste until God grants them enough out of His bounty. If any of your slaves desire a deed of freedom, write it out for them, if you find any promise in them, and give them some of the wealth God has given you. Do not force your [slave] maids into prostitution, in order to enrich yourself, when they wish to preserve their chastity. Yet if anyone forces them, once they have been forced, God will be forgiving and merciful to them. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور جو لوگ نکاح کی وسعت نہیں رکھتے ہیں وہ بھی اپنی عفت کا تحفظ کریں یہاں تک کہ خدا اپنے فضل سے انہیں غنی بنا دے اور جو غلام و کنیز مکاتبت کے طلبگار ہیں ان میں خیر دیکھو تو ان سے مکاتبت کرلو بلکہ جو مال خدا نے تمہیں دے رکھا ہے اس میں سے کچھ انہیں بھی دے دو اور خبردار اپنی کنیزوں کو اگر وہ پاکدامنی کی خواہشمند ہیں تو زنا پر مجبور نہ کرنا کہ ان سے زندگانی دنیا کا فائدہ حاصل کرنا چاہو کہ جو بھی انہیں مجبور کرے گا خدا مجبوری کے بعد ان عورتوں کے حق میں بہت زیادہ بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور جو نکاح کا موقع نہ پائیں انہیں چاہیے کہ عفت مآبی اختیار کریں، یہاں تک کہ اللہ اپنے فضل سے اُن کو غنی کر دے اور تمہارے مملوکوں میں سے جو مکاتبت کی درخواست کریں ان سے مکاتبت کر لو اگر تمہیں معلوم ہو کہ ان کے اندر بھلائی ہے، اور ان کو اُس مال میں سے دو جو اللہ نے تمہیں دیا ہے اور اپنی لونڈیوں کو ا پنے دنیوی فائدوں کی خاطر قحبہ گری پر مجبور نہ کرو جبکہ وہ خود پاکدامن رہنا چاہتی ہوں، اور جو کوئی اُن کو مجبور کرے تو اِس جبر کے بعد اللہ اُن کے لیے غفور و رحیم ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور چاہیے کہ بچے رہیں وہ جو نکاح کا مقدور نہیں رکھتے یہاں تک کہ اللہ مقدور والا کردے اپنے فضل سے اور تمہارے ہاتھ کی مِلک باندی غلاموں میں سے جو یہ چاہیں کہ کچھ مال کمانے کی شرط پر انہیں آزادی لکھ دو تو لکھ دو اگر ان میں کچھ بھلائی جانو اور اس پر ان کی مدد کرو اللہ کے مال سے جو تم کو دیا اور مجبور نہ کرو اپنی کنیزوں کو بدکاری پر جب کہ وہ بچنا چاہیں تاکہ تم دنیوی زندگی کا کچھ مال چاہو اور جو انہیں مجبور کرے گا تو بیشک اللہ بعد اس کے کہ وہ مجبوری ہی کی حالت پر رہیں بخشنے والا مہربان ہے - Ahmed Raza

اور جو لوگ نکاح کرنے کی قدرت نہیں رکھتے انہیں چاہیے کہ عفت اور ضبط نفس سے کام لیں۔ یہاں تک کہ اللہ انہیں اپنے فضل سے غنی کر دے اور تمہارے مملوکہ غلاموں اور کنیزوں میں سے جو مکاتب بننے کے خواہشمند ہوں۔ تو اگر تمہیں ان میں کوئی بھلائی معلوم ہو تو ان سے مکاتبہ کرلو۔ اور تم اللہ کے مال میں سے انہیں عطا کرو اور اپنی جوان کنیزوں کو محض دنیوی رنگ کا کچھ سامان حاصل کرنے کیلئے بدکاری پر مجبور نہ کرو جبکہ وہ پاکدامن رہنا چاہتی ہوں اگر کوئی انہیں مجبور کرے تو بیشک ان کو مجبور کرنے کے بعد بھی اللہ بڑا بخشنے والا، بڑا رحم کرنے والا ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

And verily We have sent down for you revelations that make plain, and the example of those who passed away before you. An admonition unto those who ward off (evil). - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Certainly We have sent down to you manifest signs and a description of those who passed before you, and an advice for the Godwary. - Qarai, Ali Quli

We have revealed to you illustrious revelations, stories of the past generations, and good advice for the pious people. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And certainly We have sent to you clear communications and a description of those who have passed away before you, and an admonition to those who guard (against evil). - Shakir, Habib

Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The similitude of His light is as a niche wherein is a lamp. The lamp is in a glass. The glass is as it were a shining star. (This lamp is) kindled from a blessed tree, an olive neither of the East nor of the West, whose oil would almost glow forth (of itself) though no fire touched it. Light upon light. Allah guideth unto His light whom He will. And Allah speaketh to mankind in allegories, for Allah is Knower of all things. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Men whom neither merchandise nor sale beguileth from remembrance of Allah and constancy in prayer and paying to the poor their due; who fear a day when hearts and eyeballs will be overturned; - Pickthall, Marmaduke

by men whom neither trade nor bargaining distracts from the remembrance of Allah and the maintenance of prayer and the giving of zakat. They are fearful of a day wherein the hearts and the sights will be transformed, - Qarai, Ali Quli

As for those who disbelieve, their deeds are as a mirage in a desert. The thirsty one supposeth it to be water till he cometh unto it and findeth it naught, and findeth, in the place thereof, Allah Who payeth him his due; and Allah is swift at reckoning. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

اور جن لوگوں نے کفر اختیار کرلیا ان کے اعمال اس ریت کے مانند ہیں جو چٹیل میدان میں ہو اور پیاسا اسے دیکھ کر پانی تصور کرے اور جب اس کے قریب پہنچے تو کچھ نہ پائے بلکہ اس خدا کو پائے جو اس کا پورا پورا حساب کردے کہ اللہ بہت جلد حساب کرنے والا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

(اس کے برعکس) جنہوں نے کفر کیا ان کے اعمال کی مثال ایسی ہے جیسے دشت بے آب میں سراب کہ پیاسا اُس کو پانی سمجھے ہوئے تھا، مگر جب وہاں پہنچا تو کچھ نہ پایا، بلکہ وہاں اس نے اللہ کو موجود پایا، جس نے اس کا پورا پورا حساب چکا دیا، اور اللہ کو حساب لیتے دیر نہیں لگتی - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جو کافر ہوئے ان کے کام ایسے ہیں جیسے دھوپ میں چمکتا ریتا کسی جنگل میں کہ پیاسا اسے پانی سمجھے، یہاں تک جب اس کے پاس آیا تو اسے کچھ نہ پایا اور اللہ کو اپنے قریب پایا تو اس نے اس کا حساب پورا بھردیا، اور اللہ جلد حساب کرلیتا ہے - Ahmed Raza

Or as darkness on a vast, abysmal sea. There covereth him a wave, above which is a wave, above which is a cloud. Layer upon layer of darkness. When he holdeth out his hand he scarce can see it. And he for whom Allah hath not appointed light, for him there is no light. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Or like the manifold darkness in a deep sea, covered by billow upon billow, overcast by clouds; manifold [layers of] darkness, one on top of another: when he brings out his hand, he can hardly see it. One whom Allah has not granted any light has no light. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Or it (the deeds of the unbelievers) are like the darkness of a deep, stormy sea with layers of giant waves, covered by dark clouds. It is darkness upon darkness whereby even if one stretches out his hands he can not see them. One can have no light unless God gives him light. - Sarwar, Muhammad

یا ان اعمال کی مثال اس گہرے دریا کی تاریکیوں کی ہے جسے ایک کے اوپر ایک لہر ڈھانک لے اور اس کے اوپر تہ بہ تہ بادل بھی ہوں کہ جب وہ اپنے ہاتھ کو نکالے تو تاریکی کی بنا پر کچھ نظر نہ آئے اور جس کے لئے خدا نور نہ قرار دے اس کے لئے کوئی نور نہیں ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

یا جیسے اندھیریاں کسی کنڈے کے (گہرائی والے) دریا میں اس کے اوپر موج مو ج کے اوپر اور موج اس کے اوپر بادل، اندھیرے ہیں ایک پر ایک جب اپنا ہاتھ نکالے تو سوجھائی دیتا معلوم نہ ہو اور جسے اللہ نور نہ دے اس کے لیے کہیں نور نہیں - Ahmed Raza

Hast thou not seen that Allah, He it is Whom all who are in the heavens and the earth praise, and the birds in their flight? Of each He knoweth verily the worship and the praise; and Allah is Aware of what they do. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Have you not regarded that Allah is glorified by everyone in the heavens and the earth, and the birds spreading their wings. Each knows his prayer and glorification, and Allah knows best what they do. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Have you not considered that all that is between the heavens and the earth glorifies God and that the birds spread their wings in the air to glorify God? He knows everyone's prayers and praising; God has absolute knowledge of what they do. - Sarwar, Muhammad
