Women who are divorced shall wait, keeping themselves apart, three (monthly) courses. And it is not lawful for them that they should conceal that which Allah hath created in their wombs if they are believers in Allah and the Last Day. And their husbands would do better to take them back in that case if they desire a reconciliation. And they (women) have rights similar to those (of men) over them in kindness, and men are a degree above them. Allah is Mighty, Wise. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Divorced women shall wait by themselves for three periods of purity [after menses], and it is not lawful for them to conceal what Allah has created in their wombs if they believe in Allah and the Last Day; and their husbands have a greater right to restore them during this [duration], if they desire reconcilement. The divorced women must wait up to three menstrual cycles before another marriage. If they believe in God and the Day of Judgment, it is not lawful for them to hide what God has created in their wombs. Within their waiting period their husbands have the right to resume marital relations, if they want reconciliation. Women have benefits as well as responsibilities. Men have a status above women. جن عورتوں کو طلاق دی گئی ہو، وہ تین مرتبہ ایام ماہواری آنے تک اپنے آپ کو روکے رکھیں اور اُن کے لیے یہ جائز نہیں ہے کہ اللہ نے اُن کے رحم میں جو کچھ خلق فرمایا ہو، اُسے چھپائیں اُنہیں ہرگز ایسا نہ کرنا چاہیے، اگر وہ اللہ اور روز آخر پر ایمان رکھتی ہیں اُن کے شوہر تعلقات درست کر لینے پر آمادہ ہوں، تو وہ اِس عدت کے دوران اُنہیں پھر اپنی زوجیت میں واپس لے لینے کے حق دار ہیں عورتوں کے لیے بھی معروف طریقے پر ویسے ہی حقوق ہیں، جیسے مردوں کے حقوق اُن پر ہیں البتہ مردوں کو اُن پر ایک درجہ حاصل ہے اور سب پر اللہ غالب اقتدار رکھنے والا اور حکیم و دانا موجود ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور طلاق والیاں اپنی جانوں کو روکے رہیں تین حیض تک اور انہیں حلال نہیں کہ چھپائیں وہ جو اللہ نے ان کے پیٹ میں پیدا کیا اگر اللہ اور قیامت پر ایمان رکھتی ہیں اور ان کے شوہروں کو اس مدت کے اندر ان کے پھیر لینے کا حق پہنچتا ہے اگر ملاپ چاہیں اور عورتوں کا بھی حق ایسا ہی ہے جیسا ان پر ہے شرع کے موافق اور مردوں کو ان پر فضیلت ہے، اور اللہ غالب حکمت والا ہے، - Ahmed Raza

اور جن عورتوں کو طلاق دی جائے تو وہ اپنے آپ کو (عقد ثانی) سے روکیں۔ تین مرتبہ ایام ماہواری سے پاک ہونے تک۔ اور اگر وہ خدا اور روزِ جزاء پر ایمان رکھتی ہیں تو ان کے لئے یہ جائز نہیں ہے کہ اسے چھپائیں۔ جوکہ خدا نے ان کے رحموں (شکموں) میں پیدا کیا ہے۔ اور اس دوران ان کے شوہر اگر تعلقات بحال کرنا چاہیں تو وہ انہیں واپس بلانے (اور اپنی زوجیت میں رکھنے کے) زیادہ حقدار ہیں اور اس دوران دستورِ شریعت کے مطابق عورتوں کے کچھ حقوق ہیں جس طرح کہ مردوں کے حقوق ہیں ہاں البتہ مردوں کو ان پر ایک درجہ فوقیت ہے۔ خدا زبردست (حاکم) اور حکمت والا ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

Divorce must be pronounced twice and then (a woman) must be retained in honour or released in kindness. And it is not lawful for you that ye take from women aught of that which ye have given them; except (in the case) when both fear that they may not be able to keep within the limits (imposed by) Allah. And if ye fear that they may not be able to keep the limits of Allah, in that case it is no sin for either of them if the woman ransom herself. These are the limits (imposed by) Allah. Transgress them not. For whoso transgresseth Allah's limits: such are wrong-doers. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

[Revocable] divorce may be only twice; then [let there be] either an honourable retention, or a kindly release. It is not lawful for you to take back anything from what you have given them, unless the couple fear that they may not maintain Allah]s bounds; so if you fear they would not maintain Allah]s bounds, there is no sin upon them in what she may give to secure her own release. These are Allah]s bounds, so do not transgress them, and whoever transgresses the bounds of Allah—it is they who are the wrongdoers. - Qarai, Ali Quli

A marital relation can only be resumed after the first and second divorce, otherwise it must be continued with fairness or terminated with kindness. It is not lawful for you to take back from women what you have given them unless you are afraid of not being able to observe God's law. In this case, it would be no sin for her to pay a ransom to set herself free from the bond of marriage. These are the laws of God. طلاق دو مرتبہ دی جائے گی. اس کے بعد یا نیکی کے ساتھ روک لیا جائے گا یا حسنِ سلوک کے ساتھ آزاد کردیا جائے گا اور تمہارے لئے جائز نہیں ہے کہ جو کچھ انہیں دے دیا ہے اس میں سے کچھ واپس لو مگر یہ کہ یہ اندیشہ ہو کہ دونوں حدود الٰہی کو قائم نہ رکھ سکیں گے تو جب تمہیں یہ خوف پیدا ہوجائے کہ وہ دونوں حدود الٰہی کو قائم نہ رکھ سکیں گے تو دونوں کے لئے آزادی ہے اس فدیہ کے بارے میں جو عورت مرد کو دے. لیکن یہ حدود الہٰیہ ہیں ان سے تجاوز نہ کرنا اور جو حدود الٰہی سے تجاوز کرے گا وہ ظالمین میں شمار ہوگا - Jawadi, Zeeshan

طلاق دو بار ہے پھر یا تو سیدھی طرح عورت کو روک لیا جائے یا بھلے طریقے سے اس کو رخصت کر دیا جائے اور رخصت کر تے ہوئے ایسا کرنا تمہارے لیے جائز نہیں ہے کہ جو کچھ تم انہیں دے چکے ہو، اُس میں سے کچھ واپس لے لو البتہ یہ صورت مستثنیٰ ہے کہ زوجین کو اللہ کے حدود پر قائم نہ رہ سکنے کا اندیشہ ہو ایسی صورت میں اگر تمہیں یہ خوف ہو کہ وہ دونوں حدود الٰہی پر قائم نہ رہیں گے، تو اُن دونوں کے درمیان یہ معاملہ ہو جانے میں مضائقہ نہیں کہ عورت اپنے شوہر کو کچھ معاوضہ دے کر علیحدگی حاصل کر لے یہ اللہ کے مقرر کردہ حدود ہیں، اِن سے تجاوز نہ کرو اور جو لوگ حدود الٰہی سے تجاوز کریں، وہی ظالم ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

یہ طلاق دو بار تک ہے پھر بھلائی کے ساتھ روک لینا ہے یا نکوئی (اچھے سلوک) کے ساتھ چھوڑ دینا ہے اور تمہیں روا نہیں کہ جو کچھ عورتوں کو دیا اس میں سے کچھ واپس لو مگر جب دونوں کو اندیشہ ہو کہ اللہ کی حدیں قائم نہ کریں گے پھر اگر تمہیں خوف ہو کہ وہ دونوں ٹھیک انہیں حدوں پر نہ رہیں گے تو ان پر کچھ گناہ نہیں اس میں جو بدلہ دے کر عورت چھٹی لے، یہ اللہ کی حدیں ہیں ان سے آگے نہ بڑھو اور جو اللہ کی حدوں سے آگے بڑھے تو وہی لوگ ظالم ہیں، - Ahmed Raza

اور طلاق (رجعی) دو ہی مرتبہ ہے اس کے بعد یا تو اچھے طریقہ سے روک لیا جائے گا یا بھلائی کے ساتھ رخصت کر دیا جائے گا۔ اور تمہارے لئے جائز نہیں ہے کہ جو کچھ انہیں (بطورِ زر مہر اور ہدیہ و تحفہ) دے چکے ہو اس میں سے کچھ واپس لو مگر یہ کہ ان دونوں (میاں بیوی) کو اندیشہ ہو کہ وہ خدا کی قائم کردہ حدود کو قائم نہیں رکھ سکیں گے تو پھر (اے مسلمانو!) تمہیں بھی یہ خوف ہو کہ وہ حدودِ الٰہیہ کو قائم نہیں رکھ سکیں گے تو (اس صورت میں) عورت کو (بطورِ فدیہ خلع) کچھ معاوضہ دینا چاہیے (اور دے کر اپنی جان چھڑانا چاہیے) تو اس میں دونوں پر کوئی گناہ نہیں ہے۔ یہ خدا کی مقرر کردہ حدیں ہیں ان سے آگے نہ بڑھو۔ اور جو لوگ خدا کی مقرر کی ہوئی حدوں سے آگے بڑھتے ہیں وہی لوگ ظالم ہیں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

And if he hath divorced her (the third time), then she is not lawful unto him thereafter until she hath wedded another husband. Then if he (the other husband) divorce her it is no sin for both of them that they come together again if they consider that they are able to observe the limits of Allah. After a divorce for the third time, it is not lawful for the husband to resume marital relations with her or remarry her until she has been married and divorced by another husband. In that case, there is no sin for the former husband to marry her if they (both) think that they can abide by the law. These are the laws of God. پھر اگر تیسری مرتبہ طلاق دے دی تو عورت مرد کے لئے حلال نہ ہوگی یہاں تک کہ دوسرا شوہر کرے پھر اگر وہ طلاق دے دے تو دونوں کے لئے کوئی حرج نہیں ہے کہ آپس میں میل کرلیں اگر یہ خیال ہے کہ حدود الہٰیہ کو قائم رکھ سکیں گے. یہ حدود الہٰیہ ہیں جنہیں خدا صاحبانِ علم واطلاع کے لئے واضح طور سے بیان کررہا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

پھر اگر (دو بارہ طلاق دینے کے بعد شوہر نے عورت کو تیسری بار) طلاق دے دی تو وہ عورت پھر اس کے لیے حلال نہ ہوگی، الّا یہ کہ اس کا نکاح کسی دوسرے شخص سے ہو اور وہ اسے طلاق دیدے تب اگر پہلا شوہر اور یہ عورت دونوں یہ خیال کریں کہ حدود الٰہی پر قائم رہیں گے، تو ان کے لیے ایک دوسرے کی طرف رجو ع کر لینے میں کوئی مضائقہ نہیں یہ اللہ کی مقرر کردہ حدیں ہیں، جنہیں وہ اُن لوگوں کی ہدایت کے لیے واضح کر رہا ہے، جو (اس کی حدود کو توڑنے کا انجام) جانتے ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

When ye have divorced women, and they have reached their term, then retain them in kindness or release them in kindness. Retain them not to their hurt so that ye transgress (the limits). He who doeth that hath wronged his soul. Make not the revelations of Allah a laughing-stock (by your behaviour), but remember Allah's grace upon you and that which He hath revealed unto you of the Scripture and of wisdom, whereby He doth exhort you. When you divorce women and they complete their term [of waiting], then either retain them honourably or release them honourably, and do not retain them maliciously in order that you may transgress; and whoever does that certainly wrongs himself. Do not take the signs of Allah in derision, and remember Allah]s blessing upon you, and what He has sent down to you of the Book and wisdom, to advise you therewith. When you divorce your wives and their waiting period has almost ended, you may resume marital relations with honor or leave them with kindness. Do not force them to live with you in suffering to satisfy your hostility. Whoever commits such transgressions, he has only harmed himself. Do not make jest of God's words. اور جب تم عورتوں کو طلاق دے دو اور ان کی عدت پوری ہونے کو آ جائے، تو یا بھلے طریقے سے انہیں روک لو یا بھلے طریقے سے رخصت کر دو محض ستانے کی خاطر انہیں نہ روکے رکھنا یہ زیادتی ہوگی اور جو ایسا کرے گا، وہ در حقیقت آپ اپنے ہی اوپر ظلم کرے گا اللہ کی آیات کا کھیل نہ بناؤ بھول نہ جاؤ کہ اللہ نے کس نعمت عظمیٰ سے تمہیں سرفراز کیا ہے وہ تمہیں نصیحت کرتا ہے کہ جو کتاب اور حکمت اُس نے تم پر نازل کی ہے، اس کا احترام ملحوظ رکھو اللہ سے ڈرو اور خوب جان لو کہ اللہ کو ہر بات کی خبر ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جب تم عورتوں کو طلاق دو اور ان کی میعاد آلگے تو اس وقت تک یا بھلائی کے ساتھ روک لو یا نکوئی (اچھے سلوک) کے ساتھ چھوڑ دو اور انہیں ضرر دینے کے لئے روکنا نہ ہو کہ حد سے بڑھو اور جو ایسا کرے وہ اپنا ہی نقصان کرتا ہے اور اللہ کی آیتوں کو ٹھٹھا نہ بنالو اور یاد کرو اللہ کا احسان جو تم پر ہے اور و ہ جو تم پر کتاب اور حکمت اتاری تمہیں نصیحت دینے کو اور اللہ سے ڈرتے رہو اور جان رکھو کہ اللہ سب کچھ جانتا ہے - Ahmed Raza

اور جب تم عورتوں کو طلاق دو اور وہ اپنی میعاد (عدت کے خاتمہ) کے قریب پہنچ جائیں تو یا تو انہیں اچھے طریقے سے (اپنے پاس) رکھو۔ یا اچھے طریقے سے انہیں رخصت کر دو اور انہیں ضرر و زیاں پہنچانے اور زیادتی کرنے کیلئے نہ روکو اور جو ایسا کرے گا وہ اپنے نفس پر ظلم کرے گا۔ اور خدا کے آیات و احکام کا ہنسی مذاق نہ بناؤ اور خدا کے اس انعام و احسان کو یاد کرو جو اس نے تم پر کیا ہے اور جو اس نے کتاب و حکمت تم پر نازل کی ہے۔ اس کے ذریعہ سے تمہیں نصیحت کرتا ہے اور اللہ (کی نافرمانی) سے ڈرو اور خوب جان لو کہ خدا ہر شی کا جاننے والا ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

And when ye have divorced women and they reach their term, place not difficulties in the way of their marrying their husbands if it is agreed between them in kindness. This is an admonition for him among you who believeth in Allah and the Last Day. That is more virtuous for you, and cleaner. Allah knoweth; ye know not. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

جب تم اپنی عورتوں کو طلاق دے چکو اور وہ اپنی عدت پوری کر لیں، تو پھر اس میں مانع نہ ہو کہ وہ اپنے زیر تجویز شوہروں سے نکاح کر لیں، جب کہ وہ معروف طریقے سے باہم مناکحت پر راضی ہوں تمہیں نصیحت کی جاتی ہے کہ ایسی حرکت ہرگز نہ کرنا، اگر تم اللہ اور روز آخر پر ایمان لانے والے ہو تمہارے لیے شائستہ اور پاکیزہ طریقہ یہی ہے کہ اس سے باز رہو اللہ جانتا ہے، تم نہیں جانتے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جب تم عورتوں کو طلاق دو اور ان کی میعاد پوری ہوجائے تو اے عورتوں کے والِیو انہیں نہ روکو اس سے کہ اپنے شوہروں سے نکاح کرلیں جب کہ آپس میں موافق شرع رضا مند ہوجائیں یہ نصیحت اسے دی جاتی ہے جو تم میں سے اللہ اور قیامت پر ایمان رکھتا ہو یہ تمہارے لئے زیادہ ستھرا اور پاکیزہ ہے اور اللہ جانتا ہے اور تم نہیں جانتے، - Ahmed Raza

اور جب تم عورتوں کو طلاق دو اور جب وہ اپنی (عدّت کی) مدت پوری کر لیں تو انہیں اپنے شوہروں سے نکاح کرنے سے نہ روکو۔ جب کہ وہ مناسب طریقے پر (شریعت کے مطابق) ایک دوسرے (نئے یا پرانے) سے نکاح کرنے پر راضی ہو جائیں۔ اس (حکم) کے ذریعہ سے اس شخص کو نصیحت کی جاتی ہے (اور وہی اسے قبول کرے گا) جو خدا اور جزاء پر ایمان رکھتا ہے۔ یہ (ان احکام پر عمل کرنا)۔ تمہارے لئے زیادہ تزکیہ و طہارت کا باعث ہے اللہ بہتر جانتا ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

Mothers shall suckle their children for two whole years; (that is) for those who wish to complete the suckling. The duty of feeding and clothing nursing mothers in a seemly manner is upon the father of the child. No-one should be charged beyond his capacity. A mother should not be made to suffer because of her child, nor should he to whom the child is born (be made to suffer) because of his child. And on the (father's) heir is incumbent the like of that (which was incumbent on the father). If they desire to wean the child by mutual consent and (after) consultation, it is no sin for them; and if ye wish to give your children out to nurse, it is no sin for you, provide that ye pay what is due from you in kindness. Observe your duty to Allah, and know that Allah is Seer of what ye do. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Mothers shall suckle their children for two full years—that for such as desire to complete the suckling—and on the father shall be their maintenance and clothing, in accordance with honourable norms. No soul is to be tasked except according to its capacity: neither the mother shall be made to suffer harm on her child]s account, nor the father on account of his child, and on the [father]s] heir devolve [duties and rights] similar to that. And if the couple desire to wean with mutual consent and consultation, there will be no sin upon them. Mothers will breast feed their babies for two years if the fathers want them to complete this term. The father has to pay them reasonable expenses. No soul is responsible for what is beyond its ability. None of the parents should suffer any loss from the other because of the baby. The heirs are responsible to look after the children of a deceased. It is no sin for the parents to have a mutual agreement about weaning the baby. There is no sin in hiring a woman to breast feed your children for a reasonable payment. Have fear of God and know that God is well aware of what you do. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And the mothers should suckle their children for two whole years for him who desires to make complete the time of suckling; and their maintenance and their clothing must be-- borne by the father according to usage; no soul shall have imposed upon it a duty but to the extent of its capacity; neither shall a mother be made to suffer harm on account of her child, nor a father on account of his child, and a similar duty (devolves) on the (father's) heir, but if both desire weaning by mutual consent and counsel, there is no blame on them, and if you wish to engage a wet-nurse for your children, there is no blame on you so long as you pay what you promised for according to usage; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah and know that Allah sees what you do. - Shakir, Habib

And the [divorced] mothers should nurse their children for two whole years, if they wish to complete the period of nursing; and during that period the father of the child shall be responsible for the maintenance of the mother in a reasonable manner. No soul is charged with more than it can bear. No mother should be made to suffer on account of her child, and no father should be made to suffer on account of his child. The same duties devolve upon the father's heir [in case of the death of the father]. But if, after consultation, they choose by mutual agreement to wean the child, there shall be no blame on them. Nor shall it be any offence for you if you desire to engage a wet-nurse for your children, provided you hand over what you have agreed to pay, in a reasonable manner. اور مائیں اپنی اولاد کو دو برس کامل دودھ پلائیں گی جو رضاعت کو پورا کرنا چاہے گا اس درمیان صاحب اولاد کا فرض ہے کہ ماؤں کی روٹی اور کپڑے کا مناسب طریقہ سے انتظام کرے. کسی شخص کو اس کی وسعت سے زیادہ تکلیف نہیں دی جاسکتی. نہ ماں کو اس کی اولاد کے ذریعہ تکلیف دینے کا حق ہے اور نہ باپ کو اس کی اولاد کے ذریعہ. اور وارث کی بھی ذمہ داری ہے کہ وہ اسی طرح اجرت کا انتظام کرے. پھر اگر دونوں باہمی رضامندی اور مشورہ سے دودھ چھڑانا چاہیں تو کوئی حرج نہیں ہے اور اگر تم اپنی اولاد کے لئے دودھ پلانے والی تلاش کرنا چاہو تو اس میں بھی کوئی حرج نہیں ہے بشرطیکہ متعارف طریقہ کی اجرت ادا کردو اور اللہ سے ڈرو اور یہ سمجھو کہ وہ تمہارے اعمال کو خوب دیکھ رہا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

جو باپ چاہتے ہوں کہ ان کی اولا د پوری مدت رضاعت تک دودھ پیے، تو مائیں اپنے بچوں کو کامل دو سال دودھ پلائیں اِس صورت میں بچے کے باپ کو معروف طریقے سے انہیں کھانا کپڑا دینا ہوگا مگر کسی پر اس کی وسعت سے بڑھ کر بار نہ ڈالنا چاہیے نہ تو ماں کو اِس وجہ سے تکلیف میں ڈالا جائے کہ بچہ اس کا ہے، اور نہ باپ ہی کو اس وجہ سے تنگ کیا جائے کہ بچہ اس کا ہے دودھ پلانے والی کا یہ حق جیسا بچے کے باپ پر ہے ویسا ہی اس کے وارث پر بھی ہے لیکن اگر فریقین باہمی رضامندی اور مشورے سے دودھ چھڑانا چاہیں، تو ایسا کرنے میں کوئی مضائقہ نہیں اور اگر تمہارا خیال اپنی اولاد کو کسی غیر عورت سے دودھ پلوانے کا ہو، تو اس میں بھی کوئی حرج نہیں بشر طیکہ اس کا جو کچھ معاوضہ طے کرو، وہ معروف طریقے پر ادا کر دو اللہ سے ڈرو اور جان رکھو کہ جو کچھ تم کرتے ہو، سب اللہ کی نظر میں ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور مائیں دودھ پلائیں اپنے بچوں کو پورے دو برس اس کے لئے جو دودھ کی مدت پوری کرنی چاہئے اور جس کا بچہ ہے اس پر عورتوں کا کھانا پہننا ہے حسب دستور کسی جان پر بوجھ نہ رکھا جائے گا مگر اس کے مقدور بھر ماں کو ضرر نہ دیا جائے اس کے بچہ سے اور نہ اولاد والے کو اس کی اولاد سے یا ماں ضرر نہ دے اپنے بچہ کو اور نہ اولاد والا اپنی اولاد کو اور جو باپ کا قائم مقام ہے اس پر بھی ایسا ہی واجب ہے پھر اگر ماں باپ دونوں آپس کی رضا اور مشورے سے دودھ چھڑانا چاہیں تو ان پر گناہ نہیں اور اگر تم چاہو کہ دائیوں سے اپنے بچوں کو دودھ پلواؤ تو بھی تم پر مضائقہ نہیں جب کہ جو دینا ٹھہرا تھا بھلائی کے ساتھ انہیں ادا کردو، اور اللہ سے ڈرتے رہو اور جان رکھو کہ اللہ تمہارے کام دیکھ رہا ہے، - Ahmed Raza

اور (طلاق کے بعد) جو شخص (اپنی اولاد کو) پوری مدت تک دودھ پلوانا چاہے تو مائیں اپنی اولاد کو کامل دو برس تک دودھ پلائیں گی۔ اور بچہ کے باپ پر (اس دوران) ان (ماؤں) کا کھانا اور کپڑا مناسب و معروف طریقہ پر لازم ہوگا۔ کسی بھی شخص کو اس کی وسعت و آسائش سے زیادہ تکلیف نہیں دی جا سکتی۔ نہ تو ماں کو نقصان پہنچایا جائے اس کے بچہ کی وجہ سے اور نہ ہی باپ کو زیاں پہنچایا جائے اس کے بچہ کے سبب سے اور (اگر باپ نہ ہو تو پھر) وارث پر (دودھ پلانے اور نان و نفقہ کی) یہی ذمہ داری ہے۔ اور اگر دونوں (ماں باپ اس مدت سے پہلے) باہمی مشورہ و رضامندی سے بچہ کا دودھ چھڑانا چاہیں تو ان پر کوئی گناہ نہیں ہے۔ اور اگر تم اپنی اولاد کو (کسی دایہ سے) دودھ پلوانا چاہو تو اس میں کوئی جرم نہیں ہے بشرطیکہ جو مناسب طریقہ سے دینا ٹھہرایا ہے (ان کے) حوالے کر دو۔ اور خدا (کی نافرمانی سے) ڈرو اور خوب جان لو کہ تم جو کچھ کرتے ہو۔ اللہ اسے خوب دیکھ رہا ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

Such of you as die and leave behind them wives, they (the wives) shall wait, keeping themselves apart, four months and ten days. And when they reach the term (prescribed for them) then there is no sin for you in aught that they may do with themselves in decency. Allah is informed of what ye do. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

There is no sin for you in that which ye proclaim or hide in your minds concerning your troth with women. Allah knoweth that ye will remember them. But plight not your troth with women except by uttering a recognised form of words. And do not consummate the marriage until (the term) prescribed is run. There is no sin upon you in what you may hint in proposing to [recently widowed] women, or what you may secretly cherish within your hearts. Allah knows that you will be thinking of them, but do not make troth with them secretly, unless you say honourable words, and do not resolve on a marriage tie until the prescribed term is complete. It is not a sin if you make an indirect marriage proposal or have such an intention in your hearts. God knows that you will cherish their memories in your hearts. Do not have secret dates unless you behave lawfully. Do not decide for a marriage before the appointed time is over. Know that God knows what is in your hearts. It shall be no offence for you to hint at a proposal of marriage [to divorced or widowed women] or to cherish them in your hearts. God knows that you will bear them in mind. زمانہ عدت میں خواہ تم اُن بیوہ عورتوں کے ساتھ منگنی کا ارادہ اشارے کنایے میں ظاہر کر دو، خواہ دل میں چھپائے رکھو، دونوں صورتوں میں کوئی مضائقہ نہیں اللہ جانتا ہے کہ اُن کا خیال تو تمہارے دل میں آئے گا ہی مگر دیکھو! خفیہ عہد و پیمان نہ کرنا اگر کوئی بات کرنی ہے، تو معرف طریقے سے کرو اور عقد نکاح باندھنے کا فیصلہ اُس وقت تک نہ کرو، جب تک کہ عدت پوری نہ ہو جائے خوب سمجھ لو کہ اللہ تمہارے دلوں کا حال تک جانتا ہے لہٰذا اس سے ڈرو اور یہ بھی جان لو کہ اللہ بردبار ہے، چھوٹی چھوٹی باتوں سے درگزر فرماتا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اگر تم (عدت کے دوران) عورتوں کی اشارہ و کنایہ میں خواستگاری کرو (پیغام نکاح دو) یا اسے اپنے دلوں میں چھپائے رکھو تو اس میں تم پر کچھ گناہ نہیں ہے۔ اللہ کو معلوم ہے کہ تم جلد ان کو یاد کروگے (تو بے شک کرو) مگر ان سے کوئی خفیہ قول و قرار نہ کرو۔ سوا اس کے کہ مناسب طریقہ سے کوئی بات کرو۔ (اشارہ و کنایہ سے) اور جب تک مقررہ مدت پوری نہ ہو جائے۔ اس وقت تک عقد نکاح کا ارادہ بھی نہ کرو۔ اور خوب جان لو کہ خدا تمہارے دلوں کے اندر کی بات کو بھی خوب جانتا ہے۔ لہٰذا اس سے ڈرتے رہو اور خوب جان لو کہ خدا بخشنے والا اور حلیم و بردبار ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

If ye divorce them before ye have touched them and ye have appointed unto them a portion, then (pay the) half of that which ye appointed, unless they (the women) agree to forgo it, or he agreeth to forgo it in whose hand is the marriage tie. If you divorce your wives before the consummation of the marriage and the amount of dowry has been fixed, pay your wives half of the amount of their dowry unless she or her guardians drop their demand for payment. (In the case of) those of you who are about to die and leave behind them wives, they should bequeath unto their wives a provision for the year without turning them out, but if they go out (of their own accord) there is no sin for you in that which they do of themselves within their rights. Those who are about to die and leave widows behind should bequeath for their wives the expenses of one year's maintenance. The widows must not be expelled from the house for up to one year. تم میں سے جو لوگوں وفات پائیں اور پیچھے بیویاں چھوڑ رہے ہوں، اُن کو چاہیے کہ اپنی بیویوں کے حق میں یہ وصیت کر جائیں کہ ایک سال تک ان کو نان و نفقہ دیا جائے اور وہ گھر سے نہ نکالی جائیں پھر اگر وہ خود نکل جائیں، تو اپنی ذات کے معاملے میں معروف طریقے سے وہ جو کچھ بھی کریں، اس کی کوئی ذمہ داری تم پر نہیں ہے اللہ سب پر غالب اقتدار رکھنے والا اور حکیم و دانا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala
