إِنَّهُمْ إِن يَظْهَرُوا۟ عَلَيْكُمْ يَرْجُمُوكُمْ أَوْ يُعِيدُوكُمْ فِى مِلَّتِهِمْ وَلَن تُفْلِحُوٓا۟ إِذًا أَبَدًۭا

For they, if they should come to know of you, will stone you or turn you back to their religion; then ye will never prosper.

Indeed should they prevail over you, they will [either] stone you [to death], or force you back into their creed, and then you will never be saved. ]

اگر کہیں اُن لوگوں کا ہاتھ ہم پر پڑ گیا تو بس سنگسار ہی کر ڈالیں گے، یا پھر زبردستی ہمیں اپنی ملت میں واپس لے جائیں گے، اور ایسا ہوا توہم کبھی فلاح نہ پا سکیں گے——

بیشک اگر وہ تمہیں جان لیں گے تو تمہیں پتھراؤ کریں گے یا اپنے دین میں پھیر لیں گے اور ایسا ہوا تو تمہارا کبھی بھلا نہ ہوگا،

وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَعْثَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ لِيَعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّۭ وَأَنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهَآ إِذْ يَتَنَٰزَعُونَ بَيْنَهُمْ أَمْرَهُمْ ۖ فَقَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ عَلَيْهِم بُنْيَٰنًۭا ۖ رَّبُّهُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِهِمْ ۚ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ غَلَبُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرِهِمْ لَنَتَّخِذَنَّ عَلَيْهِم مَّسْجِدًۭا

And in like manner We disclosed them (to the people of the city) that they might know that the promise of Allah is true, and that, as for the Hour, there is no doubt concerning it. When (the people of the city) disputed of their case among themselves, they said: Build over them a building; their Lord knoweth best concerning them. Those who won their point said: We verily shall build a place of worship over them.

So it was that We let them come upon them, that they might know that Allah]s promise is true, and that there is no doubt in the Hour. As they disputed among themselves about their matter, they said, [Build a building over them. Their Lord knows them best.] Those who had the say in their matter said, [We will set up a place of worship over them.]

We caused their story to become public so that people would know that God's promise was true and that there is no doubt about the coming of the Day of Judgment. They started to argue with each other about the matter (Resurrection) and some of them said, [Let us establish a building at the youths' sleeping place (to hide them). Their Lord knew best their intentions about them. The majority prevailed in their suggestion of the establishment of a mosque in that place.

And thus did We make (men) to get knowledge of them that they might know that Allah's promise is true and that as for the hour there is no doubt about it. When they disputed among themselves about their affair and said: Erect an edifice over them-- their Lord best knows them. Those who prevailed in their affair said: We will certainly raise a masjid over them.

Thus We disclosed things to them so that they might know that God's promise was true and there was no doubt about the Hour [Judgement Day]. The people argued about them among themselves. They said, [Build a monument over them. Their Lord knows best concerning them.] Those who prevailed in their affair said, [Let us surely build a place of worship over them.]

اور اس طرح ہم نے قوم کو ان کے حالات پر مطلع کردیا تاکہ انہیں معلوم ہوجائے کہ اللہ کا وعدہ سچاّ ہے اور قیامت میں کسی طرح کا شبہ نہیں ہے جب یہ لوگ آپس میں ان کے بارے میں جھگڑا کررہے تھے اور یہ طے کررہے تھے کہ ان کے غار پر ایک عمارت بنادی جائے-خدا ان کے بارے میں بہتر جانتا ہے اور جو لوگ دوسروں کی رائے پر غالب آئے انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم ان پر مسجد بنائیں گے

اِس طرح ہم نے اہل شہر کو ان کے حال پر مطلع کیا تاکہ لوگ جان لیں کہ اللہ کا وعدہ سچا ہے اور یہ کہ قیامت کی گھڑی بے شک آ کر رہے گی (مگر ذرا خیال کرو کہ جب سوچنے کی اصل بات یہ تھی) اُس وقت وہ آپس میں اِس بات پر جھگڑ رہے تھے کہ اِن (اصحاب کہف) کے ساتھ کیا کیا جائے کچھ لوگوں نے کہا ——اِن پر ایک دیوار چن دو، ان کا رب ہی اِن کے معاملہ کو بہتر جانتا ہے—— مگر جو لوگ اُن کے معاملات پر غالب تھے انہوں نے کہا —— ہم تو ان پر ایک عبادت گاہ بنائیں گے——

اور اسی طرح ہم نے ان کی اطلاع کردی کہ لوگ جان لیں کہ اللہ کا وعدہ سچا ہے اور قیامت میں کچھ شبہ نہیں، جب وہ لوگ ان کے معاملہ میں باہم جھگڑنے لگے تو بولے ان کے غار پر کوئی عمارت بناؤ، ان کا رب انہیں خوب جانتا ہے، وہ بولے جو اس کام میں غالب رہے تھے قسم ہے کہ ہم تو ان پر مسجد بنائیں گے

اور اسی طرح ہم نے لوگوں کو ان پر مطلع کیا تاکہ وہ لوگ جان لیں کہ اللہ کا وعدہ سچھا ہے اور یہ کہ قیامت میں کوئی شک نہیں ہے۔ یہ اس وقت کی بات ہے جب وہ (بستی والے) لوگ ان (اصحافِ کہف) کے معاملہ میں آپس میں جھگڑ رہے تھے (کہ کیا کیا جائے؟) تو (کچھ) لوگوں نے کہا کہ ان پر (یعنی غار پر) ایک (یادگاری) عمارت بنا دو۔ ان کا پروردگار ہی ان کو بہتر جانتا ہے۔ (آخرکار) جو لوگ ان کے معاملات پر غالب آئے تھے وہ بولے کہ ہم ان پر ایک مسجد (عبادت گاہ) بنائیں گے۔

سَيَقُولُونَ ثَلَٰثَةٌۭ رَّابِعُهُمْ كَلْبُهُمْ وَيَقُولُونَ خَمْسَةٌۭ سَادِسُهُمْ كَلْبُهُمْ رَجْمًۢا بِٱلْغَيْبِ ۖ وَيَقُولُونَ سَبْعَةٌۭ وَثَامِنُهُمْ كَلْبُهُمْ ۚ قُل رَّبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ بِعِدَّتِهِم مَّا يَعْلَمُهُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌۭ ۗ فَلَا تُمَارِ فِيهِمْ إِلَّا مِرَآءًۭ ظَٰهِرًۭا وَلَا تَسْتَفْتِ فِيهِم مِّنْهُمْ أَحَدًۭا

(Some) will say: They were three, their dog the fourth, and (some) say: Five, their dog the sixth, guessing at random; and (some) say: Seven, and their dog the eighth. Say (O Muhammad): My Lord is Best Aware of their number. None knoweth them save a few. So contend not concerning them except with an outward contending, and ask not any of them to pronounce concerning them.

They will say, [[They are] three; their dog is the fourth of them,] and say, [[They are] five, their dog is the sixth of them,] taking a shot at the invisible. They will say, [[They are] seven, their dog is the eighth of them.] Say, [My Lord knows best their number, and none knows them except a few.] So do not dispute concerning them, except for a seeming dispute, and do not question about them any of them.

(With regard to the number of the youths) some say, [There were three and the dog was the fourth one,] Others say, [There were five and the dog was the sixth one.] In reality, they are just feeling around in the dark. Still some of them say, [There were seven and the dog was the eighth one.] (Muhammad), say, [My Lord has the best knowledge of their number. You know very little about it.] Do not insist on arguing with them, but merely tell them the story as it has been revealed to you and do not ask anyone about them.

(Some) say: (They are) three, the fourth of them being their dog; and (others) say: Five, the sixth of them being their dog, making conjectures at what is unknown; and (others yet) say: Seven, and the eighth of them is their dog. Say: My Lord best knows their number, none knows them but a few; therefore contend not in the matter of them but with an outward contention, and do not question concerning them any of them.

عنقریب یہ لوگ کہیں گے کہ وہ تین تھے اور چوتھا ان کا کتاّ تھا اور بعض کہیں گے کہ پانچ تھے اور چھٹا ان کا کتا تھا اور یہ سب صرف غیبی اندازے ہوں گے اور بعض تو یہ بھی کہیں گے کہ وہ سات تھے اور آٹھواں ان کا کتا تھا-آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ خدا ان کی تعداد کو بہتر جانتا ہے اورچند افراد کے علاوہ کوئی نہیں جانتا ہے لہذا آپ ان سے ظاہری گفتگو کے علاوہ واقعا کوئی بحث نہ کریں اور ان کے بارے میں کسی سے دریافت بھی نہ کریں

کچھ لوگ کہیں گے کہ وہ تین تھے اور چوتھا ان کا کتا تھا اور کچھ دوسرے کہہ دیں گے کہ پانچ تھے اور چھٹا اُن کا کتا تھا یہ سب بے تکی ہانکتے ہیں کچھ اور لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ سات تھے اور آٹھواں اُن کا کتا تھا کہو، میرا رب ہی بہتر جانتا ہے کہ وہ کتنے تھے کم ہی لوگ ان کی صحیح تعداد جانتے ہیں پس تم سرسری بات سے بڑھ کر ان کی تعداد کے معاملے میں لوگوں سے بحث نہ کرو، اور نہ ان کے متعلق کسی سے کچھ پوچھو

اب کہیں گے کہ وہ تین ہیں چوتھا ان کا کتا اور کچھ کہیں گے پانچ ہیں، چھٹا ان کا کتا بے دیکھے الاؤتکا (تیر تکا) بات اور کچھ کہیں گے سات ہیں اور آٹھواں ان کا کتا تم فرماؤ میرا رب ان کی گنتی خوب جانتا ہے انہیں نہیں جانتے مگر تھوڑے تو ان کے بارے میں بحث نہ کرو مگر اتنی ہی بحث جو ظاہر ہوچکی

عنقریب کچھ لوگ کہہ دیں گے کہ وہ تین تھے اور چوتھا ان کا کتا تھا۔ اور کچھ کہہ دیں گے کہ وہ پانچ تھے اور چھٹا ان کا کتا تھا۔ (اے رسول(ص)) کہہ دیجیئے کہ میرا پروردگار ہی ان کی تعداد کو بہتر جانتا ہے۔ اور بہت کم لوگوں کو ان کا علم ہے۔ سو ان کے بارے میں سوائے سرسری گفتگو کے لوگوں سے زیادہ بحث نہ کریں اور نہ ہی ان کے بارے میں ان میں سے کسی سے کچھ پوچھیں۔

إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ وَٱذْكُر رَّبَّكَ إِذَا نَسِيتَ وَقُلْ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَهْدِيَنِ رَبِّى لِأَقْرَبَ مِنْ هَٰذَا رَشَدًۭا

Except if Allah will. And remember thy Lord when thou forgettest, and say: It may be that my Lord guideth me unto a nearer way of truth than this.

without [adding], [God willing.] And when you forget, remember your Lord, and say, [Maybe my Lord will guide me to [something] more akin to rectitude than this.]

without adding, [if God wills.] Recall your Lord if you forget to do something. Say, [I hope that my Lord will provide me better guidance.]

Unless Allah pleases; and remember your Lord when you forget and say: Maybe my Lord will guide me to a nearer course to the right than this.

مگر جب تک خدا نہ چاہے اور بھول جائیں تو خدا کو یاد کریں اور یہ کہیں کہ عنقریب میرا خدا مجھے واقعیت سے قریب تر امر کی ہدایت کردے گا

(تم کچھ نہیں کر سکتے) اِلّا یہ کہ اللہ چاہے اگر بھولے سے ایسی بات زبان سے نکل جائے تو فوراً اپنے رب کو یاد کرو اور کہو ——امید ہے کہ میرا رب اِس معاملے میں رشد سے قریب تر بات کی طرف میری رہنمائی فرما دے گا——

مگر یہ کہ اللہ چاہے اور اپنے رب کی یاد کر جب تو بھول جائے اور یوں کہو کہ قریب ہے میرا رب مجھے اس سے نزدیک تو راستی کی راہ دکھائے،

مگر یہ کہ خدا چاہے (یعنی اس کے ساتھ انشاء اللہ کہا کرو) اور جب بھی بھول جائیں تو اپنے پروردگار کو یاد کریں۔ اور آپ کہہ دیجئے! کہ امید ہے کہ میرا پروردگار ایسی بات کی مجھے راہنمائی کرے جو رشد و ہدایت میں اس سے بھی زیادہ قریب ہو۔

And (it is said) they tarried in their Cave three hundred years and add nine.

قُلِ ٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا لَبِثُوا۟ ۖ لَهُۥ غَيْبُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ أَبْصِرْ بِهِۦ وَأَسْمِعْ ۚ مَا لَهُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ مِن وَلِىٍّۢ وَلَا يُشْرِكُ فِى حُكْمِهِۦٓ أَحَدًۭا

Say: Allah is Best Aware how long they tarried. His is the Invisible of the heavens and the earth. How clear of sight is He and keen of hearing! They have no protecting friend beside Him, and He maketh none to share in His government.

Say, [Allah knows best how long they remained. To Him belongs the Unseen of the heavens and the earth. How well does He see! How well does He hear! They have no guardian besides Him, and none shares with Him in His judgement.]

وَٱصْبِرْ نَفْسَكَ مَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَدَوٰةِ وَٱلْعَشِىِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُۥ ۖ وَلَا تَعْدُ عَيْنَاكَ عَنْهُمْ تُرِيدُ زِينَةَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَا تُطِعْ مَنْ أَغْفَلْنَا قَلْبَهُۥ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَٱتَّبَعَ هَوَىٰهُ وَكَانَ أَمْرُهُۥ فُرُطًۭا

Restrain thyself along with those who cry unto their Lord at morn and evening, seeking His Countenance; and let not thine eyes overlook them, desiring the pomp of the life of the world; and obey not him whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance, who followeth his own lust and whose case hath been abandoned.

Content yourself with the company of those who supplicate their Lord morning and evening, desiring His Face, and do not lose sight of them, desiring the glitter of the life of this world. And do not obey him whose heart We have made oblivious to Our remembrance, and who follows his own desires, and whose conduct is [mere] profligacy.

Be patient with those who worship their Lord in the mornings and evenings to seek His pleasure. Do not overlook them to seek the worldly pleasures. Do not obey those whom We have caused to neglect Us and instead follow their own desires beyond all limits.

And withhold yourself with those who call on their Lord morning and evening desiring His goodwill, and let not your eyes pass from them, desiring the beauties of this world's life; and do not follow him whose heart We have made unmindful to Our remembrance, and he follows his low desires and his case is one in which due bounds are exceeded.

اور اپنے نفس کو ان لوگوں کے ساتھ صبر پر آمادہ کرو جو صبح و شام اپنے پروردگار کو پکارتے ہیں اور اسی کی مرضی کے طلب گار ہیں اور خبردار تمہاری نگاہیں ان کی طرف سے پھر نہ جائیں کہ زندگانی دنیا کی زینت کے طلب گار بن جاؤ اور ہرگز اس کی اطاعت نہ کرنا جس کے قلب کو ہم نے اپنی یاد سے محروم کردیا ہے اور وہ اپنی خواہشات کا پیروکار ہے اور اس کا کام سراسر زیادتی کرنا ہے

اور اپنے دل کو اُن لوگوں کی معیت پر مطمئن کرو جو اپنے رب کی رضا کے طلب گار بن کر صبح و شام اُسے پکارتے ہیں، اور اُن سے ہرگز نگاہ نہ پھیرو کیا تم دنیا کی زینت پسند کرتے ہو؟ کسی ایسے شخص کی اطاعت نہ کرو جس کے دل کو ہم نے اپنی یاد سے غافل کر دیا ہے اور جس نے اپنی خواہش نفس کی پیروی اختیار کر لی ہے اور جس کا طریق کار افراط و تفریط پر مبنی ہے

اور اپنی جان ان سے مانوس رکھو جو صبح و شام اپنے رب کو پکارتے ہیں اس کی رضا چاہتے ہیں اور تمہاری آنکھیں انہیں چھوڑ کر اور پر نہ پڑیں کیا تم دنیا کی زندگانی کا سنگھار چاہو گے، اور اس کا کہا نہ مانو جس کا دل ہم نے اپنی یاد سے غافل کردیا اور وہ اپنی خواہش کے پیچھے چلا اور اس کا کام حد سے گزر گیا،

وَقُلِ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ فَلْيُؤْمِن وَمَن شَآءَ فَلْيَكْفُرْ ۚ إِنَّآ أَعْتَدْنَا لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ نَارًا أَحَاطَ بِهِمْ سُرَادِقُهَا ۚ وَإِن يَسْتَغِيثُوا۟ يُغَاثُوا۟ بِمَآءٍۢ كَٱلْمُهْلِ يَشْوِى ٱلْوُجُوهَ ۚ بِئْسَ ٱلشَّرَابُ وَسَآءَتْ مُرْتَفَقًا

Say: (It is) the truth from the Lord of you (all). Then whosoever will, let him believe, and whosoever will, let him disbelieve. Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers Fire. Its tent encloseth them. If they ask for showers, they will be showered with water like to molten lead which burneth the faces. Calamitous the drink and ill the resting-place!

And say, [[This is] the truth from your Lord: let anyone who wishes believe it, and let anyone who wishes disbelieve it.] Indeed, We have prepared for the wrongdoers a Fire whose curtains will surround them [on all sides]. If they cry out for help, they will be helped with a water like molten copper, which will scald their faces. What an evil drink, and how ill a resting place!

Say,] Truth comes from your Lord. Let people have faith or disbelieve as they chose.] For the unjust We have prepared a fire which will engulf them with its (flames). Whenever they cry for help they will be answered with water as hot as molted brass which will scald their faces. How terrible is such a drink and such a resting place!

And say: The truth is from your Lord, so let him who please believe, and let him who please disbelieve; surely We have prepared for the iniquitous a fire, the curtains of which shall encompass them about; and if they cry for water, they shall be given water like molten brass which will scald their faces; evil the drink and ill the resting-place.

Let him who will, believe in it, and him who will, deny it.] For the wrongdoers We have prepared a Fire which will cover them like a canopy, and if they beg for water, they will be given water as hot as molten lead, which will scald their faces: how dreadful a drink, and how evil a resting place!

اور کہہ دو کہ حق تمہارے پروردگار کی طرف سے ہے اب جس کا جی چاہے ایمان لے آئے اورجس کا جی چاہے کافر ہوجائے ہم نے یقینا کافرین کے لئے اس آگ کا انتظام کردیا ہے جس کے پردے چاروں طرف سے گھیرے ہوں گے اور وہ فریاد بھی کریں گے تو پگھلے ہوئے تانبے کی طرح کے کھولتے ہوئے پانی سے ان کی فریاد رسی کی جائے گی جو چہروں کو بھون ڈالے گا یہ بدترین مشروب ہے اور جہنم ّبدترین ٹھکانا ہے

صاف کہہ دو کہ یہ حق ہے تمہارے رب کی طرف سے، اب جس کا جی چاہے مان لے اور جس کا جی چاہے انکار کر دے ہم نے (انکار کرنے والے) ظالموں کے لیے ایک آگ تیار کر رکھی ہے جس کی لپٹیں انہیں گھیرے میں لے چکی ہیں وہاں اگر وہ پانی مانگیں گے توایسے پانی سے ان کی تواضع کی جائے گی جو تیل کی تلچھٹ جیسا ہوگا اور ان کا منہ بھون ڈالے گا، بدترین پینے کی چیز اور بہت بری آرامگاہ!

اور فرما دو کہ حق تمہارے رب کی طرف سے ہے تو جو چاہے ایمان لائے اور جو چاہے کفر کرے بیشک ہم نے ظالموں کے لیے وہ آگ تیار کر رکھی ہے جس کی دیواریں انہیں گھیر لیں گی، اور اگر پانی کے لیے فریاد کریں تو ان کی فریاد رسی ہوگی اس پانی سے کہ چرخ دے (کھولتے ہوئے) دھات کی طرح ہے کہ ان کے منہ بھون دے گا کیا ہی برا پینا ہے اور دوزخ کیا ہی بری ٹھہرنے کی جگہ،

اور آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ حق تمہارے پروردگار کی طرف سے ہے تو جو چاہے ایمان لائے اور جو چاہے کفر اختیار کرے۔ بے شک ہم نے ظالموں کیلئے ایسی آگ تیار کر رکھی ہے جس کی قناطیں انہیں گھیر لیں گی اور اگر وہ فریاد کریں گے تو ان کی فریاد رسی ایسے پانی سے کی جائے گی جو پگھلے ہوئے تانبے کی طرح ہوگا۔ جو چہروں کو بھون ڈالے گا کیا بری چیز ہے پینے کی۔ اور کیا بری آرام گاہ ہے۔

Lo! as for those who believe and do good works - Lo! We suffer not the reward of one whose work is goodly to be lost.

This website is a work of passion. It exists only for a couple of reasons:

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.

Because the process must be transparent, the entire website is available for you to download. You can go through the code, and if you can make any improvements to this process, you are most welcome to. It is a humble request to update me regarding the improvements so I can also update myself.
