وَلَوْ

وَلَوْ يُؤَاخِذُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلنَّاسَ بِظُلْمِهِم مَّا تَرَكَ عَلَيْهَا مِن دَآبَّةٍۢ وَلَٰكِن يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّۭى ۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمْ لَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ سَاعَةًۭ ۖ وَلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ

⦿

If Allah were to take mankind to task for their wrong-doing, he would not leave hereon a living creature, but He reprieveth them to an appointed term, and when their term cometh they cannot put (it) off an hour nor (yet) advance (it).

⦿

Were Allah to take mankind to task for their wrongdoing, He would not leave any living being upon it. But He respites them until a specified time; so when their time comes they shall not defer it by a single hour nor shall they advance it.

Was God to seize people immediately for their injustice, no living creature would be left on earth. He gives them respite for an appointed time. When their term is over, they will not be able to change the inevitable.

And if Allah had destroyed men for their iniquity, He would not leave on the earth a single creature, but He respites them till an appointed time; so when their doom will come they shall not be able to delay (it) an hour nor can they bring (it) on (before its time).

If God were to take people to task for their wrongdoing, He would not leave even one living creature on earth, but He gives them respite till an appointed time: when their time comes they cannot delay it for an hour, nor can they bring it forward.

اگر خدا لوگوں سے ان کے ظلم کا مواخذہ کرنے لگتا تو روئے زمین پر ایک رینگنے والے کو بھی نہ چھوڑتا لیکن وہ سب کو ایک معین مدّت تک کے لئے ڈھیل دیتا ہے اس کے بعد جب وقت آجائے گا تو پھر نہ ایک ساعت کی تاخیر ہوگی اور نہ تقدیم

اگر کہیں اللہ لوگوں کو اُن کی زیادتی پر فوراً ہی پکڑ لیا کر تا تو روئے زمین پر کسی متنفس کو نہ چھوڑتا لیکن وہ سب کو ایک وقت مقرر تک مہلت دیتا ہے، پھر جب وہ وقت آ جاتا ہے تو اس سے کوئی ایک گھڑی بھر بھی آگے پیچھے نہیں ہو سکتا

اور اگر اللہ لوگوں کو ان کے ظلم پر گرفت کرتا تو زمین پر کوئی چلنے والا نہیں چھوڑتا لیکن انہیں ایک ٹھہرائے وعدے تک مہلت دیتا ہے پھر جب ان کا وعدہ آئے گا نہ ایک گھڑی پیچھے ہٹیں نہ آگے بڑھیں،

اگر اللہ لوگوں کو ان کی زیادتی پر (فوراً) پکڑ لیا کرتا تو پھر روئے زمین پر کسی جاندار کو نہ چھوڑتا مگر وہ انہیں ایک مقررہ مدت تک مہلت دیتا ہے پھر جب وہ مقررہ وقت آجاتا ہے تو اس سے وہ ایک گھڑی پیچھے آگے نہیں ہو سکتے۔

وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِلَّهِ مَا يَكْرَهُونَ وَتَصِفُ أَلْسِنَتُهُمُ ٱلْكَذِبَ أَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۖ لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلنَّارَ وَأَنَّهُم مُّفْرَطُونَ

⦿

And they assign unto Allah that which they (themselves) dislike, and their tongues expound the lie that the better portion will be theirs. Assuredly theirs will be the Fire, and they will be abandoned.

They attribute to Allah what they dislike [for themselves], and their tongues assert the lie that the best of rewards [in the Hereafter] will be theirs. Undoubtedly, the Fire shall be their lot and they will be foremost [in entering it].

They ascribe to God that which even they themselves do not like and their lying tongues say that their end will be virtuous. Their share will certainly be hell fire to which they are earnestly heading.

And they ascribe to Allah what they (themselves) hate and their tongues relate the lie that they shall have the good; there is no avoiding it that for them is the fire and that they shall be sent before.

آج یہ لوگ وہ چیزیں اللہ کے لیے تجویز کر رہے ہیں جو خود اپنے لیے اِنہیں ناپسند ہیں، اور جھوٹ کہتی ہیں اِن کی زبانیں کہ اِن کے لیے بھلا ہی بھلا ہے اِن کے لیے تو ایک ہی چیز ہے، اور وہ ہے دوزخ کی آگ ضرور یہ سب سے پہلے اُس میں پہنچائے جائیں گے

اور اللہ کے لیے وہ ٹھہراتے ہیں جو اپنے لیے ناگوار ہے اور ان کی زبانیں جھوٹ کہتی ہیں کہ ان کے لیے بھلائی ہے تو آپ ہی ہوا کہ ان کے لیے آگ ہے اور وہ حد سے گزارے ہوئے ہیں،

اور وہ اللہ کے لئے وہ چیزیں (بیٹیاں) قرار دیتے ہیں جن کو اپنے لئے ناپسند کرتے ہیں اور ان کی زبانیں غلط بیانی کرتی ہیں کہ ان کے لئے (بہرحال) بھلائی ہی بھلائی ہے (نہیں) ہاں البتہ ان کے لئے دوزخ کی آگ ہے اور بے شک یہ سب سے پہلے اس میں پہنچائے (جھونکے) جائیں گے۔

تَٱللَّهِ لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ فَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ

⦿

By Allah, We verily sent messengers unto the nations before thee, but the devil made their deeds fairseeming unto them. So he is their patron this day, and theirs will be a painful doom.

By Allah, We have certainly sent [apostles] to nations before you. But Satan made their deeds seem decorous to them. So he is their master today and there is a painful punishment for them.

By God, We sent (Messengers) to nations who lived before you. Satan made their deeds seem attractive to them and, on the Day of Judgment, satan will be their guardian. For them there will be a painful punishment.

خدا کی قسم، اے محمدؐ، تم سے پہلے بھی بہت سی قوموں میں ہم رسول بھیج چکے ہیں (اور پہلے بھی یہی ہوتا رہا ہے کہ) شیطان نے اُن کے برے کرتوت اُنہیں خوشنما بنا کر دکھائے (اور رسولوں کی بات انہوں نے مان کر نہ دی) وہی شیطان آج اِن لوگوں کا بھی سرپرست بنا ہوا ہے اور یہ دردناک سزا کے مستحق بن رہے ہیں

خدا کی قسم ہم نے تم سے پہلے کتنی امتوں کی طرف رسول بھیجے تو شیطان نے ان کے کوتک (برُے اعمال) ان کی آنکھوں میں بھلے کر دکھائے تو آج وہی ان کا رفیق ہے اور ان کے لیے دردناک عذاب ہے،

And We have revealed the Scripture unto thee only that thou mayst explain unto them that wherein they differ, and (as) a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe.

We did not send down the Book to you except [for the purpose] that you may clarify for them what they differ about, and as a guidance and mercy for a people who have faith.

وَٱللَّهُ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ فَأَحْيَا بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَآ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةًۭ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَسْمَعُونَ

⦿

Allah sendeth down water from the sky and therewith reviveth the earth after her death. Lo! herein is indeed a portent for a folk who hear.

Allah sends down water from the sky with which He revives the earth after its death. There is indeed a sign in that for a people who listen.

God has sent down water from the sky and has brought the dead earth to life. In this there is evidence (of the truth) for those who listen (carefully).

And Allah has sent down water from the cloud and therewith given life to the earth after its death; most surely there is a sign in this for a people who would listen.

(تم ہر برسات میں دیکھتے ہو کہ) اللہ نے آسمان سے پانی برسایا اور یکا یک مردہ پڑی ہوئی زمین میں اُس کی بدولت جان ڈال دی یقیناً اس میں ایک نشانی ہے سننے والوں کے لیے

اور اللہ نے آسمان سے پانی اتارا تو اس سے زمین کو زندہ کردیا اس کے مرے پیچھے بیشک اس میں نشانی ہے ان کو جو کان رکھتے ہیں،

اور اللہ نے آسمان سے پانی اتارا ہے اور اس کے ذریعہ سے زمین کو اس کے مردہ (بنجر) ہو جانے کے بعد زندہ کر دیتا ہے۔ بے شک اس میں آوازِ حق سننے والوں کے لئے بڑی نشانی ہے۔

وَإِنَّ لَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ لَعِبْرَةًۭ ۖ نُّسْقِيكُم مِّمَّا فِى بُطُونِهِۦ مِنۢ بَيْنِ فَرْثٍۢ وَدَمٍۢ لَّبَنًا خَالِصًۭا سَآئِغًۭا لِّلشَّٰرِبِينَ

And lo! in the cattle there is a lesson for you. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, from betwixt the refuse and the blood, pure milk palatable to the drinkers.

There is indeed a lesson for you in the cattle: We give you a drink pleasant to those who drink, pure milk, which is in their bellies, between [intestinal] waste and blood.

There is a lesson for you to learn concerning cattle. We provide pleasant milk for you to drink within the delicate system of their veins and arteries.

And most surely there is a lesson for you in the cattle; We give you to drink of what is in their bellies-- from betwixt the feces and the blood-- pure milk, easy and agreeable to swallow for those who drink.

اور تمہارے لیے مویشیوں میں بھی ایک سبق موجود ہے اُن کے پیٹ سے گوبر اور خون کے درمیان ہم ایک چیز تمہیں پلاتے ہیں، یعنی خالص دودھ، جو پینے والوں کے لیے نہایت خو ش گوار ہے

وَمِن ثَمَرَٰتِ ٱلنَّخِيلِ وَٱلْأَعْنَٰبِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِنْهُ سَكَرًۭا وَرِزْقًا حَسَنًا ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةًۭ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَعْقِلُونَ

And of the fruits of the date-palm, and grapes, whence ye derive strong drink and (also) good nourishment. Lo! therein is indeed a portent for people who have sense.

ثُمَّ كُلِى مِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ فَٱسْلُكِى سُبُلَ رَبِّكِ ذُلُلًۭا ۚ يَخْرُجُ مِنۢ بُطُونِهَا شَرَابٌۭ مُّخْتَلِفٌ أَلْوَٰنُهُۥ فِيهِ شِفَآءٌۭ لِّلنَّاسِ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةًۭ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

Then eat of all fruits, and follow the ways of thy Lord, made smooth (for thee). There cometh forth from their bellies a drink divers of hues, wherein is healing for mankind. Lo! herein is indeed a portent for people who reflect.

And Allah createth you, then causeth you to die, and among you is he who is brought back to the most abject stage of life, so that he knoweth nothing after (having had) knowledge. Lo! Allah is Knower, Powerful.

وَٱللَّهُ فَضَّلَ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ فِى ٱلرِّزْقِ ۚ فَمَا ٱلَّذِينَ فُضِّلُوا۟ بِرَآدِّى رِزْقِهِمْ عَلَىٰ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُهُمْ فَهُمْ فِيهِ سَوَآءٌ ۚ أَفَبِنِعْمَةِ ٱللَّهِ يَجْحَدُونَ

And Allah hath favoured some of you above others in provision. Now those who are more favoured will by no means hand over their provision to those (slaves) whom their right hands possess, so that they may be equal with them in respect thereof. Is it then the grace of Allah that they deny?

Allah has granted some of you an advantage over others in [respect of] provision. Those who have been granted an advantage do not give over their provision to their slaves so that they become equal in its respect. What, do they deny the blessing of Allah?

اور دیکھو، اللہ نے تم میں سے بعض کو بعض پر رزق میں فضیلت عطا کی ہے پھر جن لوگوں کو یہ فضیلت دی گئی ہے وہ ایسے نہیں ہیں کہ اپنا رزق اپنے غلاموں کی طرف پھیر دیا کرتے ہوں تاکہ دونوں اس رزق میں برابر کے حصہ دار بن جائیں تو کیا اللہ ہی کا احسان ماننے سے اِن لوگوں کو انکار ہے؟

This website is a work of passion. It exists only for a couple of reasons:

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.
