لِيَحْمِلُوٓا۟

٢٥

لِيَحْمِلُوٓا۟ أَوْزَارَهُمْ كَامِلَةًۭ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ ۙ وَمِنْ أَوْزَارِ ٱلَّذِينَ يُضِلُّونَهُم بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۗ أَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَزِرُونَ

That they may bear their burdens undiminished on the Day of Resurrection, with somewhat of the burdens of those whom they mislead without knowledge. Ah! evil is that which they bear!

[with the result] that they will bear the full weight of their own burden on the Day of Resurrection, along with part of the burden of those whom they mislead without any knowledge. Behold! Evil is what they bear!

Besides their own burdens, on the Day of Judgment, they will have to carry on the burdens of those whom they have misled without knowledge. How evil that burden will be!

یہ باتیں وہ اس لیے کرتے ہیں کہ قیامت کے روز اپنے بوجھ بھی پورے اٹھائیں، اور ساتھ ساتھ کچھ اُن لوگوں کے بوجھ بھی سمیٹیں جنہیں یہ بر بنائے جہالت گمراہ کر رہے ہیں دیکھو! کیسی سخت ذمہ داری ہے جو یہ اپنے سر لے رہے ہیں

کہ قیامت کے دن اپنے بوجھ پورے اٹھائیں اور کچھ بوجھ ان کے جنہیں اپنی جہالت سے گمراہ کرتے ہیں، سن لو کیا ہی برا بوجھ اٹھاتے ہیں،

قَدْ مَكَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَأَتَى ٱللَّهُ بُنْيَٰنَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْقَوَاعِدِ فَخَرَّ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّقْفُ مِن فَوْقِهِمْ وَأَتَىٰهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

Those before them plotted, so Allah struck at the foundations of their building, and then the roof fell down upon them from above them, and the doom came on them whence they knew not;

Those who were before them [had also] schemed. Then Allah came at their edifice from the foundations and the roof fell down upon them from above and the punishment overtook them whence they were not aware.

Those who went before them had also devised evil plans. God demolished their houses, destroying their very foundations. Their ceilings toppled on their heads and torment struck them from a direction which they had never expected.

Those before them did indeed devise plans, but Allah demolished their building from the foundations, so the roof fell down on them from above them, and the punishment came to them from whence they did not perceive.

اِن سے پہلے بھی بہت سے لوگ (حق کو نیچا دکھانے کے لیے) ایسی ہی مکاریاں کر چکے ہیں، تو دیکھ لو کہ اللہ نے اُن کے مکر کی عمارت جڑ سے اکھاڑ پھینکی اور اس کی چھت اوپر سے ان کے سر پر آ رہی اور ایسے رخ سے ان پر عذاب آیا جدھر سے اس کے آنے کا اُن کو گمان تک نہ تھا

بیشک ان سے اگلوں نے فریب کیا تھا تو اللہ نے ان کی چنائی کو نیو سے (تعمیر کو بنیاد) سے لیا تو اوپر سے ان پر چھت گر پڑی اور عذاب ان پر وہاں سے آیا جہاں کی انہیں خبر نہ تھی

جو لوگ ان سے پہلے گزر چکے ہیں انہوں نے بھی (دعوتِ حق کے خلاف) مکاریاں کی تھیں تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان کی (مکاریوں والی) عمارت بنیاد سے اکھیڑ دی اور اس کی چھت اوپر سے ان پر آپڑی اور ان پر اس طرف سے عذاب آیا جدھر سے ان کو وہم و گمان بھی نہ تھا۔

ثُمَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ يُخْزِيهِمْ وَيَقُولُ أَيْنَ شُرَكَآءِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ كُنتُمْ تُشَٰٓقُّونَ فِيهِمْ ۚ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ إِنَّ ٱلْخِزْىَ ٱلْيَوْمَ وَٱلسُّوٓءَ عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ

Then on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them and will say: Where are My partners, for whose sake ye opposed (My guidance)? Those who have been given knowledge will say: Disgrace this day and evil are upon the disbelievers,

Then, on the Day of Resurrection, He will disgrace them, and say, [Where are My “partners” for whose sake you used to defy [Allah]?] Those who were given knowledge will say, [Indeed today disgrace and distress pursue the faithless.]

God will humiliate them on the Day of Judgment and ask them, [Where are the idols which you had considered equal to Me and which were the cause of hostility and animosity among you?] The people who were given knowledge will say, [It is the unbelievers who face disgrace and trouble on this day.]

Then on the resurrection day He will bring them to disgrace and say: Where are the associates you gave Me, for whose sake you became hostile? Those who are given the knowledge will say: Surely the disgrace and the evil are this day upon the unbelievers:

Then on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them, and say, [Where are My partners for whose sake you opposed [My guidance]?] Those given knowledge will say, [This Day humiliation and affliction will surely befall those who have been denying the truth.]

اس کے بعد وہ روزِ قیامت انہیں رسوا کرے گا اور پوچھے گا کہاں ہیں وہ میرے شریک جن کے بارے میں تم جھگڑا کیا کرتے تھے - اس وقت صاحبان هعلم کہیں گے کہ آج رسوائی اور برائی ان کافروں کے لئے ثابت ہوگئی ہے

پھر قیامت کے روز اللہ اُنہیں ذلیل و خوار کرے گا اور اُن سے کہے گا ——بتاؤ اب کہاں ہیں میرے وہ شریک جن کے لیے تم (اہل حق سے) جھگڑے کیا کرتے تھے؟—— جن لوگوں کو دنیا میں علم حاصل تھا وہ کہیں گے ——آج رسوائی اور بدبختی ہے کافروں کے لیے——

پھر قیامت کے دن انہیں رسوا کرے گا اور فرمائے گا کہاں ہیں میرے وہ شریک جن میں تم جھگڑتے تھے علم والے کہیں گے آج ساری رسوائی اور برائی کافروں پر ہے

پھر قیامت کے دن وہ (اللہ) انہیں ذلیل و خوار کرے گا اور کہے گا کہ (بتاؤ) کہاں ہیں وہ میرے شریک جن کے بارے میں تم (اہلِ حق سے) لڑا جھگڑا کرتے تھے (اس وقت) وہ لوگ کہیں گے جن کو (حقیقت کا) علم دیا گیا تھا کہ آج کے دن رسوائی اور برائی ان کافروں کے لئے ہے۔

ٱلَّذِينَ تَتَوَفَّىٰهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ ظَالِمِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ ۖ فَأَلْقَوُا۟ ٱلسَّلَمَ مَا كُنَّا نَعْمَلُ مِن سُوٓءٍۭ ۚ بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

⦿

Whom the angels cause to die while they are wronging themselves. Then will they make full submission (saying): We used not to do any wrong. Nay! Surely Allah is Knower of what ye used to do.

⦿

—Those whom the angels take away while they were wronging themselves. Thereat they submit: [We were not doing any evil!] [Yes, [the angels say to them,] indeed Allah knows best what you used to do!

⦿

The unjust, who will be seized by the angels, will submit themselves, obey, and say, [We were not evil-doers.] But God certainly knows what they had been doing.

Those whom the angels cause to die while they are unjust to themselves. Then would they offer submission: We used not to do any evil. Aye! surely Allah knows what you did.

Those whose lives the angels take while they are wronging their own souls will offer submission saying, [We were not doing anything evil!] [Indeed!] the angels will reply, [God is aware of what you have been doing,

جنہیں ملائکہ اس عالم میں اٹھاتے ہیں کہ وہ اپنے نفس کے ظالم ہوتے ہیں تو اس وقت اطاعت کی پیشکش کرتے ہیں کہ ہم تو کوئی برائی نہیں کرتے تھے. بیشک خدا خوب جانتا ہے کہ تم کیا کیا کرتے تھے

ہاں، اُنہی کافروں کے لیے جو اپنے نفس پر ظلم کرتے ہوئے جب ملائکہ کے ہاتھوں گرفتار ہوتے ہیں تو (سرکشی چھوڑ کر) فوراً ڈگیں ڈال دیتے ہیں اور کہتے ہیں ——ہم تو کوئی قصور نہیں کر رہے تھے—— ملائکہ جواب دیتے ہیں ——کر کیسے نہیں رہے تھے! اللہ تمہارے کرتوتوں سے خوب واقف ہے

وہ کہ فرشتے ان کی جان نکالتے ہیں اس حال پر کیا وہ اپنا برا کررہے تھے اب صلح ڈالیں گے کہ ہم تو کچھ برائی نہ کرتے تھے ہاں کیوں نہیں، بیشک اللہ خوب جانتا ہے جو تمہارے کوتک (برے اعمال) تھے

کہ جن کی روحیں فرشتوں نے اس حال میں قبض کی تھیں کہ وہ اپنے اوپر ظلم کر رہے تھے اس وقت انہوں نے (سپر ڈال دی تھی اور) صلح کی پیشکش کرتے ہوئے کہا تھا کہ ہم تو کوئی برائی نہیں کرتے تھے (ان سے کہا گیا) ہاں (تم نے ضرور برائی کی تھی) تم لوگ جو کچھ کرتے رہے ہو اللہ اس سے بخوبی واقف ہے۔

فَٱدْخُلُوٓا۟ أَبْوَٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۖ فَلَبِئْسَ مَثْوَى ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ

⦿

So enter the gates of hell, to dwell therein for ever. Woeful indeed will be the lodging of the arrogant.

They will be commanded to enter hell to live therein forever. How terrible will be the place of the proud ones!

وَقِيلَ لِلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ مَاذَآ أَنزَلَ رَبُّكُمْ ۚ قَالُوا۟ خَيْرًۭا ۗ لِّلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ فِى هَٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةٌۭ ۚ وَلَدَارُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ خَيْرٌۭ ۚ وَلَنِعْمَ دَارُ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

And it is said unto those who ward off (evil): What hath your Lord revealed? They say: Good. For those who do good in this world there is a good (reward) and the home of the Hereafter will be better. Pleasant indeed will be the home of those who ward off (evil) -

But those who were Godwary will be asked, [What is it that your Lord has sent down?] They will say, [Good.] For those who do good in this world there will be a good [reward], and the abode of the Hereafter is better, and the abode of the Godwary is surely excellent:

The pious ones will be asked, [What did your Lord reveal to you?] They will reply, [He revealed only good.] The share of the righteous ones is virtue in this world and greater virtue in the life to come. How blessed will be the dwelling of the pious ones!

⦿

And it is said to those who guard (against evil): What is it that your Lord has revealed? They say, Good. For those who do good in this world is good, and certainly the abode of the hereafter is better; and certainly most excellent is the abode of those who guard (against evil);

When those who fear God are asked, [What has your Lord sent down?] Their reply is, [Goodness!] The reward of those who do good works in this world is good, but the abode of the Hereafter is even better. The home of the righteous is indeed excellent.

اور جب صاحبان هتقوٰی سے کہا گیا کہ تمہارے پروردگار نے کیا نازل کیا ہے تو انہوں نے کہا کہ سب خیر ہے - بیشک جن لوگوں نے اس دنیا میں نیک اعمال کئے ہیں ان کے لئے نیکی ہے اور آخرت کا گھر تو بہرحال بہتر ہے اور وہ لَتقّین کا بہترین مکان ہے

دوسری طرف جب خدا ترس لوگوں سے پوچھا جاتا ہے کہ یہ کیا چیز ہے جو تمہارے رب کی طرف سے نازل ہوئی ہے، تو وہ جواب دیتے ہیں کہ ——بہترین چیز اتری ہے—— اِس طرح کے نیکوکار لوگوں کے لیے اِس دنیا میں بھی بھلائی ہے اور آخرت کا گھر تو ضرور ہی ان کے حق میں بہتر ہے بڑا اچھا گھر ہے متقیوں کا

اور ڈر والوں سے کہا گیا تمہارے رب رب نے کیا اتارا، بولے خوبی جنہوں نے اس دنیا میں بھلائی کی ان کے لیے بھلائی ہے اور بیشک پچھلا گھر سب سے بہتر، اور ضرور کیا ہی اچھا گھر پرہیزگاروں کا

اور جب صاحبانِ تقویٰ سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ تمہارے پروردگار نے کیا نازل کیا ہے؟ تو وہ کہتے ہیں کہ سراسر خیر و خوبی نازل کی ہے جن لوگوں نے اس دنیا میں نیکی اور بھلائی کی ان کے لئے یہاں بھی بھلائی ہے اور آخرت کا گھر تو یقیناً اور بھی بہتر ہے اور متقیوں کا گھر کیا ہی خوب ہے؟

ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

٣١

جَنَّٰتُ عَدْنٍۢ يَدْخُلُونَهَا تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ ۖ لَهُمْ فِيهَا مَا يَشَآءُونَ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَجْزِى ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

⦿

Gardens of Eden which they enter, underneath which rivers flow, wherein they have what they will. Thus Allah repayeth those who ward off (evil),

the Gardens of Eden, which they will enter, with streams running in them. There they will have whatever they wish, and thus does Allah reward the Godwary

They will be admitted into the gardens of Eden wherein steams flow and they will have therein whatever they want. This is how God will reward the pious ones.

دائمی قیام کی جنتیں، جن میں وہ داخل ہوں گے، نیچے نہریں بہہ رہی ہونگی، اور سب کچھ وہاں عین اُن کی خواہش کے مطابق ہوگا یہ جزا دیتا ہے اللہ متقیوں کو

بسنے کے باغ جن میں جائیں گے ان کے نیچے نہریں رواں انہیں وہاں ملے گا جو چاہیں اللہ ایسا ہی صلہ دیتا ہے پرہیزگاروں کو

Those whom the angels cause to die (when they are) good. They say: Peace be unto you! Enter the Garden because of what ye used to do.

—those whom the angels take away while they are pure. They say [to them], [Peace be to you! Enter paradise because of what you used to do.]

هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ فَعَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ وَمَا ظَلَمَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ

Await they aught say that the angels should come unto them or thy Lord's command should come to pass? Even so did those before them. Allah wronged them not, but they did wrong themselves,

Do they not consider that the angels may come to them, or your Lord]s edict may come? Those who were before them had acted likewise; Allah did not wrong them, but they used to wrong themselves.

Are they (the disbelievers) waiting for the angels and the decree of your Lord to be fulfilled before they believe? The people who lived before them had also done the same thing. God did not do injustice to them, but they wronged themselves.

They do not wait aught but that the angels should come to them or that the commandment of your Lord should come to pass. Thus did those before them; and Allah was not unjust to them, but they were unjust to themselves.

اے محمدؐ، اب جو یہ لوگ انتظار کر رہے ہیں تو اِس کے سوا اب اور کیا باقی رہ گیا ہے کہ ملائکہ ہی آ پہنچیں، یا تیرے رب کا فیصلہ صادر ہو جائے؟ اِس طرح کی ڈھٹائی اِن سے پہلے بہت سے لوگ کر چکے ہیں پھر جو کچھ اُن کے ساتھ ہوا وہ اُن پر اللہ کا ظلم نہ تھا بلکہ اُن کا اپنا ظلم تھا جو اُنہوں نے خود اپنے اوپر کیا

کاہے کے انتظار میں ہیں مگر اس کے کہ فرشتے ان پر آئیں یا تمہارے رب کا عذاب آئے ان سے اگلوں نے ایسا ہی کیا اور اللہ نے ان پر کچھ ظلم نہ کیا، ہاں وہ خود ہی اپنی جانوں پر ظلم کرتے تھے،

So that the evils of what they did smote them, and that which they used to mock surrounded them.

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ لَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا عَبَدْنَا مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَىْءٍۢ نَّحْنُ وَلَآ ءَابَآؤُنَا وَلَا حَرَّمْنَا مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَىْءٍۢ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ فَعَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ فَهَلْ عَلَى ٱلرُّسُلِ إِلَّا ٱلْبَلَٰغُ ٱلْمُبِينُ

And the idolaters say: Had Allah willed, we had not worshipped aught beside Him, we and our fathers, nor had we forbidden aught without (command from) Him. Even so did those before them. Are the messengers charged with aught save plain conveyance (of the message)?

The polytheists say, [Had Allah wished, we would not have worshiped anything besides Him—neither we, nor our fathers—nor we would have forbidden anything without His sanction.] Those who were before them had acted likewise. Is the apostles] duty anything but to communicate in clear terms?

The pagans had said, [Had God wanted we would not have worshipped anything other than Him, nor would our fathers. We would not have forbidden anything without (a command from) Him.] The same thing was said by the people who lived before them. Are the Messengers expected to do more than just preach?

And they who give associates (to Allah) say: If Allah had pleased, we would not have served anything besides Allah, (neither) we nor our fathers, nor would we have prohibited anything without (order from) Him. Thus did those before them; is then aught incumbent upon the apostles except a plain delivery (of the message)?

Those who associate [others with God] say, [If God had so willed we would not have worshipped anything besides Him, neither we nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything without His sanction.] So did those who went before them. The duty of the messengers is only to convey the message clearly.

اور مشرکین کہتے ہیں کہ اگر خدا چاہتا تو ہم یا ہمارے بزرگ اس کے علاوہ کسی کی عبادت نہ کرتے اور نہ اس کے حکم کے بغیر کسی شے کو حرام قرار دیتے - اسی طرح ان کے پہلے والوں نے بھی کیا تھا تو کیا رسولوں کی ذمہ دری واضح اعلان کے علاوہ کچھ اور بھی ہے

یہ مشرکین کہتے ہیں ——اگر اللہ چاہتا تو نہ ہم اور نہ ہمارے باپ دادا اُس کے سوا کسی اور کی عبادت کرتے اور نہ اُس کے حکم کے بغیر کسی چیز کو حرام ٹھیراتے—— ایسے ہی بہانے اِن سے پہلے کے لوگ بھی بناتے رہے ہیں تو کیا رسولوں پر صاف صاف بات پہنچا دینے کے سوا اور بھی کوئی ذمہ داری ہے؟

اور مشرک بولے اللہ چاہتا تو اس کے سوا کچھ نہ پوجنے نہ ہم اور نہ ہمارے باپ دادا اور نہ اس سے جدا ہو کر ہم کوئی چیز حرام ٹھہراتے جیسا ہی ان سے اگلوں نے کیا تو رسولوں پر کیا ہے مگر صاف پہنچا دینا،

وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِى كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ رَّسُولًا أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟ ٱلطَّٰغُوتَ ۖ فَمِنْهُم مَّنْ هَدَى ٱللَّهُ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ حَقَّتْ عَلَيْهِ ٱلضَّلَٰلَةُ ۚ فَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

⦿

And verily We have raised in every nation a messenger, (proclaiming): Serve Allah and shun false gods. Then some of them (there were) whom Allah guided, and some of them (there were) upon whom error had just hold. Do but travel in the land and see the nature of the consequence for the deniers!

Certainly We raised an apostle in every nation [to preach:] [Worship Allah, and shun fake deities.] Among them were some whom Allah guided, and among them were some who deserved to be in error. So travel over the land and observe how was the fate of the deniers.

To every nation We sent a Messenger who told its people, [Worship God and stay away from satan.] Some of them were guided by God and others were doomed to go astray. Travel through the land and see how terrible was the end for those who rejected the truth!

And certainly We raised in every nation an apostle saying: Serve Allah and shun the Shaitan. So there were some of them whom Allah guided and there were others against whom error was due; therefore travel in the land, then see what was the end of the rejecters.

We raised among every people a messenger who enjoined, [Worship God alone and shun the evil one.] Then among them were some whom God guided and among them were others who became deserving of ruin. So travel across the earth and observe what was the end of those who rejected the messengers.

اوریقینا ہم نے ہر امّت میں ایک رسول بھیجا ہے کہ تم لوگ اللہ کی عبادت کرو اور طاغوت سے اجتناب کرو پھر ان میں بعض کو خدا نے ہدایت دے دی اور بعض پر گمراہی ثابت ہوگئی تو اب تم لوگ روئے زمین میں سیر کرو اور دیکھو کہ تکذیب کرنے والوں کا انجام کیا ہوتا ہے

ہم نے ہر امت میں ایک رسول بھیج دیا، اور اُس کے ذریعہ سے سب کو خبردار کر دیا کہ ——اللہ کی بندگی کرو اور طاغوت کی بندگی سے بچو—— اس کے بعد ان میں سے کسی کو اللہ نے ہدایت بخشی اور کسی پر ضلالت مسلط ہو گئی پھر ذرا زمین میں چل پھر کر دیکھ لو کہ جھٹلانے والوں کا کیا انجام ہو چکا ہے

اور بیشک ہر امت میں ہم نے ایک رسول بھیجا کہ اللہ کو پوجو اور شیطان سے بچو تو ان میں کسی کو اللہ نے راہ دکھائی اور کسی پر گمراہی ٹھیک اتری تو زمین میں چل پھر کر دیکھو کیسا انجام ہوا جھٹلانے والوں کا

اور یقیناً ہم نے ہر ایک امت میں کوئی نہ کوئی رسول (یہ پیغام دے کر) ضرور بھیجا ہے کہ اللہ کی عبادت کرو اور طاغوت (کی بندگی) سے بچو پس ان (امتوں) میں سے بعض کو اللہ نے ہدایت دی اور بعض پر گمراہی مستقر اور ثابت ہوگئی پس تم زمین پر چلو پھرو اور دیکھو کہ جھٹلانے والوں کا کیا انجام ہوا؟

Even if thou (O Muhammad) desirest their right guidance, still Allah assuredly will not guide him who misleadeth. Such have no helpers.

And they swear by Allah their most binding oaths (that) Allah will not raise up him who dieth. Nay, but it is a promise (binding) upon Him in truth, but most of mankind know not,

And those who became fugitives for the cause of Allah after they had been oppressed, We verily shall give them goodly lodging in the world, and surely the reward of the Hereafter is greater, if they but knew;

This website is a work of passion. It exists only for a couple of reasons:

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.
