ثُمَّ
Then,
إِنَّ
surely
رَبَّكَ
your Rabb
لِلَّذِينَ
for the ones who
عَمِلُوا۟
did
ٱلسُّوٓءَ
bad
بِجَهَٰلَةٍۢ
through ignorance,
ثُمَّ
but then
تَابُوا۟
repent
مِنۢ
from
بَعْدِ
after
ذَٰلِكَ
that
وَأَصْلَحُوٓا۟
and take corrective measures,
إِنَّ
it is that
رَبَّكَ
your Rabb
مِنۢ
of
بَعْدِهَا
after that is
لَغَفُورٌۭ
forgiving,
رَّحِيمٌ
merciful.
١٦
١١٩
ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لِلَّذِينَ عَمِلُوا۟ ٱلسُّوٓءَ بِجَهَٰلَةٍۢ ثُمَّ تَابُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ وَأَصْلَحُوٓا۟ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهَا لَغَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌ
Then, surely your Rabb for the ones who did bad through ignorance, but then repent from after that and take corrective measures, it is that your Rabb of after that is forgiving, merciful.

⦿
Then lo! thy Lord - for those who do evil in ignorance and afterward repent and amend - lo! (for them) thy Lord is afterward indeed Forgiving, Merciful.

Moreover, your Lord will indeed be forgiving and merciful to those who repent after they having committed evil out of ignorance and reform themselves.

Surely,
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
Ibrahim

as secular (obedient to only One authority),
وَلَمْ
and not
يَكُ
was he like
مِنَ
from
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
the ones who add partners.
١٦
١٢٠
إِنَّ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ كَانَ أُمَّةًۭ قَانِتًۭا لِّلَّهِ حَنِيفًۭا وَلَمْ يَكُ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
Surely, Ibrahim was a nation obedient for the One as secular (obedient to only One authority), and not was he like from the ones who add partners.

Lo! Abraham was a nation obedient to Allah, by nature upright, and he was not of the idolaters;

(He was) thankful
لِّأَنْعُمِهِ

ٱجْتَبَىٰهُ

وَهَدَىٰهُ

إِلَىٰ
towards
صِرَٰطٍۢ
the path
مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ
that is stable.
١٦
١٢١
شَاكِرًۭا لِّأَنْعُمِهِ ۚ ٱجْتَبَىٰهُ وَهَدَىٰهُ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍۢ مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ
(He was) thankful for being blessed; selected him and guided him towards the path that is stable.

Thankful for His bounties; He chose him and He guided him unto a straight path.

And We gave him
فِى

ٱلدُّنْيَا

حَسَنَةًۭ

وَإِنَّهُۥ
and indeed he
فِى

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
the forth-coming
لَمِنَ
is from those
ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
who are the constructive workers.
١٦
١٢٢
وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةًۭ ۖ وَإِنَّهُۥ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
And We gave him in the World goodness; and indeed he in the forth-coming is from those who are the constructive workers.

And We gave him good in the world, and in the Hereafter he is among the righteous.

Then
أَوْحَيْنَآ
We inspired
إِلَيْكَ
to you

that,
ٱتَّبِعْ

إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
Ibrahim
حَنِيفًۭا
as secular (obedient to only One authority),
ۖ
وَمَا
and not
كَانَ
he was
مِنَ
from
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
the ones who add partners.]
١٦
١٢٣
ثُمَّ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ أَنِ ٱتَّبِعْ مِلَّةَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ حَنِيفًۭا ۖ وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
Then We inspired to you that, [Adhere to creed of Ibrahim as secular (obedient to only One authority), and not he was from the ones who add partners.]

⦿
And afterward We inspired thee (Muhammad, saying): Follow the religion of Abraham, as one by nature upright. He was not of the idolaters.

Thereafter We revealed to you [saying], [Follow the creed of Abraham, a Hanif, who was not a polytheist.]

We sent you, (Muhammad), a revelation that you should follow the tradition of Abraham, the upright one, who was not a pagan.

Then We revealed to you: Follow the faith of Ibrahim, the upright one, and he was not of the polytheists.

اس کے بعد ہم نے آپ کی طرف وحی کی کہ ابراہیم علیھ السّلام حنیف کے طریقہ کا اتباع کریں کہ وہ مشرکین میں سے نہیں تھے

Indeed
جُعِلَ

ٱلسَّبْتُ
the Sabbath (an exclusive day for not doing anything)
عَلَى
upon
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟
disputed
فِيهِ
in it (Ibrahim's Creed);
ۚ
وَإِنَّ
and indeed
رَبَّكَ
your Rabb
لَيَحْكُمُ
is to judge
بَيْنَهُمْ
between them
يَوْمَ
on day of
ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ
the establishment
فِيمَا
in what
كَانُوا۟
they were
فِيهِ
in it
يَخْتَلِفُونَ
disputing.
١٦
١٢٤
إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ ٱلسَّبْتُ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ ۚ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَيَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ
Indeed was put up the Sabbath (an exclusive day for not doing anything) upon the ones who disputed in it (Ibrahim's Creed); and indeed your Rabb is to judge between them on day of the establishment in what they were in it disputing.

The Sabbath was appointed only for those who differed concerning it, and lo! thy Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that wherein they used to differ.

Call
إِلَىٰ
towards
سَبِيلِ

رَبِّكَ

بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ
with the Wisdom,
وَٱلْمَوْعِظَةِ
and the Advice
ٱلْحَسَنَةِ
that is good,
ۖ
وَجَٰدِلْهُم
and have argument with them
بِٱلَّتِى
with that
هِىَ
which is
أَحْسَنُ
appealing;
ۚ
إِنَّ
indeed
رَبَّكَ
your Rabb
هُوَ
is
أَعْلَمُ
knowing
بِمَن
about who
ضَلَّ
strayed
عَن
against
سَبِيلِهِۦ
His way;
ۖ
وَهُوَ
and He is
أَعْلَمُ
knowing
بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ
about the ones who are guided.
١٦
١٢٥
ٱدْعُ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ وَٱلْمَوْعِظَةِ ٱلْحَسَنَةِ ۖ وَجَٰدِلْهُم بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ ۖ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ
Call towards way of your Master with the Wisdom, and the Advice that is good, and have argument with them with that which is appealing; indeed your Rabb is knowing about who strayed against His way; and He is knowing about the ones who are guided.

Call unto the way of thy Lord with wisdom and fair exhortation, and reason with them in the better way. Lo! thy Lord is Best Aware of him who strayeth from His way, and He is Best Aware of those who go aright.

Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good advice and dispute with them in a manner that is best. Indeed your Lord knows best those who stray from His way, and He knows best those who are guided.

This website is a work of passion. It exists only for a couple of reasons:

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.
