He said: I will not send him with you till ye give me an undertaking in the name of Allah that ye will bring him back to me, unless ye are surrounded. And when they gave him their undertaking he said: Allah is the Warden over what we say. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

He said, [I will not let him go with you until you give me a [solemn] pledge by Allah that you will surely bring him back to me, unless you are made to perish.] When they had given him their [solemn] pledge, he said, [Allah is witness over what we say.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

(Jacob) said, [I shall not send him with you until you solemnly promise me before God to return him to me unless you are prevented from doing so.] When they gave their promise, he said, [God is the Witness of what we have said]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

He said: I will by no means send him with you until you give me a firm covenant in Allah's name that you will most certainly bring him back to me, unless you are completely surrounded. And when they gave him their covenant, he said: Allah is the One in Whom trust is placed as regards what we say. - Shakir, Habib

یعقوب نے کہا کہ میں اسے ہرگز تمہارے ساتھ نہ بھیجوں گا جب تک کہ خدا کی طرف سے عہد نہ کرو گے کہ اسے واپس ضرور لاؤ گے مگر یہ کہ تم ہی کو گھیر لیا جائے -اس کے بعد جب ان لوگوں نے عہد کرلیا تو یعقوب نے کہا کہ اللہ ہم لوگوں کے قول و قرار کا نگراں اور ضامن ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

ان کے باپ نے کہا ——میں اس کو ہرگز تمہارے ساتھ نہ بھیجوں گا جب تک کہ تم اللہ کے نام سے مجھ کو پیمان نہ دے دو کہ اِسے میرے پا س ضرور واپس لے کر آؤ گے الا یہ کہ کہیں تم گھیر ہی لیے جاؤ—— جب انہوں نے اس کو اپنے اپنے پیمان دے دیے تو اس نے کہا ——دیکھو، ہمارے اس قول پر اللہ نگہبان ہے—— - Maududi, Abul A'ala

And he said: O my sons! Go not in by one gate; go in by different gates. I can naught avail you as against Allah. Lo! the decision rests with Allah only. In Him do I put my trust, and in Him let all the trusting put their trust. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And he said, [My sons, do not enter by one gate, but enter by separate gates, though I cannot avail you anything against Allah. Sovereignty belongs only to Allah. In Him I have put my trust; and in Him let all the trusting put their trust.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

Jacob then told his sons, [Do not enter the town all together by a single gate, but each of you enter separately. I cannot help you against (the decree of) God. Everyone's destiny is in His hands. I put my trust in Him. Whoever needs a trustee must put his trust in God.] - Sarwar, Muhammad

And he said: O my sons! do not (all) enter by one gate and enter by different gates and I cannot avail you aught against Allah; judgment is only Allah's; on Him do I rely, and on Him let those who are reliant rely. - Shakir, Habib

اور پھر کہا کہ میرے فرزندو د یکھو سب ایک دروازے سے داخل نہ ہونا اور متفرق دروازوں سے داخل ہونا کہ میں خدا کی طرف سے آنے والی بلاؤں میں تمہارے کام نہیں آسکتا حکم صرف اللہ کے ہاتھ میں ہے اور اسی پر میرا اعتماد ہے اور اسی پر سارے توکل کرنے والوں کو بھروسہ کرنا چاہئے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

پھر اس نے کہا ——میرے بچو، مصر کے دارالسطنت میں ایک دروازے سے داخل نہ ہونا بلکہ مختلف دروازوں سے جانا مگر میں اللہ کی مشیت سے تم کو نہیں بچا سکتا، حکم اُس کے سوا کسی کا بھی نہیں چلتا، اسی پر میں نے بھروسہ کیا، اور جس کو بھی بھروسہ کرنا ہو اسی پر کرے—— - Maududi, Abul A'ala

And when they entered in the manner which their father had enjoined, it would have naught availed them as against Allah; it was but a need of Jacob's soul which he thus satisfied; and lo! he was a lord of knowledge because We had taught him; but most of mankind know not. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

When they entered whence their father had bidden them, it did not avail them anything against Allah, but only fulfilled a wish in Jacob]s heart. Indeed, he had the knowledge of what We had taught him, but most people do not know. - Qarai, Ali Quli

اور جب وہ لوگ اسی طرح داخل ہوئے جس طرح ان کے والد نے کہا تھا اگرچہ وہ خدائی بلا کو ٹال نہیں سکتے تھے لیکن یہ ایک خواہش تھی جو یعقوب کے دل میں پیدا ہوئی جسے انہوں نے پورا کرلیا اور وہ ہمارے دئیے ہوئے علم کی بنا پر صاحبِ علم بھی تھے اگرچہ اکثر لوگ اس حقیقت سے بھی ناواقف ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور واقعہ بھی یہی ہوا کہ جب وہ اپنے باپ کی ہدایت کے مطابق شہر میں (متفرق دروازوں سے) داخل ہوئے تو اس کی یہ احتیاطی تدبیر اللہ کی مشیت کے مقابلے میں کچھ بھی کام نہ آسکی ہاں بس یعقوبؑ کے دل میں جو ایک کھٹک تھی اسے دور کرنے کے لیے اس نے اپنی سی کوشش کر لی بے شک وہ ہماری دی ہوئی تعلیم سے صاحب علم تھا مگر اکثر لوگ معاملہ کی حقیقت کو جانتے نہیں ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جب وہ داخل ہوئے جہاں سے ان کے باپ نے حکم دیا تھا وہ کچھ انہیں کچھ انہیں اللہ سے بچا نہ سکتا ہاں یعقوب کے جی کی ایک خواہش تھی جو اس نے پوری کرلی، اور بیشک وہ صاحب علم ہے ہمارے سکھائے سے مگر اکثر لوگ نہیں جانتے - Ahmed Raza

اور جب وہ لوگ (مصر میں) اسی طرح داخل ہوئے جس طرح ان کے باپ نے انہیں حکم دیا تھا ان کا اس طرح داخل ہونا انہیں خدا (کی مشیت اور اس کی تقدیر) سے بچا تو نہیں سکتا تھا مگر یہ (احتیاطی تدبیر) یعقوب کے دل میں ایک تمنا تھی جسے انہوں نے پورا کر لیا بے شک وہ ہماری دی ہوئی تعلیم سے صاحبِ علم تھا لیکن اکثر لوگ (اس حقیقت کو) نہیں جانتے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

یہ لوگ یوسفؑ کے حضور پہنچے تو اس نے اپنے بھائی کو اپنے پاس الگ بلا لیا اور اسے بتا دیا کہ ——میں تیرا وہی بھائی ہوں (جو کھویا گیا تھا) اب تو اُن باتوں کا غم نہ کر جو یہ لوگ کرتے رہے ہیں—— - Maududi, Abul A'ala

They said: The penalty for it! He in whose bag (the cup) is found, he is the penalty for it. Thus we requite wrong-doers. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

They said, [The requital for it shall be that he in whose saddlebag it is found shall give himself over as its requital. Thus do we requite the wrongdoers.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

Joseph's brothers replied, [In whosoever baggage it is found, that person will be your bondsman. Thus is the punishment of the unjust.] - Sarwar, Muhammad

They said: The requital of this is that the person in whose bag it is found shall himself be (held for) the satisfaction thereof; thus do we punish the wrongdoers. - Shakir, Habib

فَبَدَأَ بِأَوْعِيَتِهِمْ قَبْلَ وِعَآءِ أَخِيهِ ثُمَّ ٱسْتَخْرَجَهَا مِن وِعَآءِ أَخِيهِ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ كِدْنَا لِيُوسُفَ ۖ مَا كَانَ لِيَأْخُذَ أَخَاهُ فِى دِينِ ٱلْمَلِكِ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ نَرْفَعُ دَرَجَٰتٍۢ مَّن نَّشَآءُ ۗ وَفَوْقَ كُلِّ ذِى عِلْمٍ عَلِيمٌۭ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

Then he (Joseph) began the search with their bags before his brother's bag, then he produced it from his brother's bag. Thus did We contrive for Joseph. He could not have taken his brother according to the king's law unless Allah willed. We raise by grades (of mercy) whom We will, and over every lord of knowledge there is one more knowing. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Then he began with their sacks, before [opening] his brother]s sack. Then he took it out from his brother]s sack. Thus did We devise for Joseph]s sake. He could not have held his brother under the king]s law unless Allah willed [otherwise]. We raise in rank whomever We please, and above every man of knowledge is One who knows best. - Qarai, Ali Quli

They searched their baggage before that of Joseph's real brother where at last they found it. Thus, We showed Joseph how to plan this; he would not have been able to take his brother under the King's law unless God had wanted it to be so. We give a high rank to whomever We want. Over every knowledgeable person is one more knowing. - Sarwar, Muhammad

So he began with their sacks before the sack of his brother, then he brought it out from his brother's sack. Thus did We plan for the sake of Yusuf; it was not (lawful) that he should take his brother under the king's law unless Allah pleased; We raise the degrees of whomsoever We please, and above every one possessed of knowledge is the All-knowing one. - Shakir, Habib

He [the herald] searched their bags before his brother's and then took out the cup from his brother's bag. In this way, We devised a plan on behalf of Joseph. He could not have detained his brother under the King's law, unless God so willed. We exalt whoever We please: but above those who have knowledge there is One all knowing. - Wahiduddin Khan

اس کے بعد بھائی کے سامان سے پہلے دوسرے بھائیوں کے سامان کی تلاشی لی اور آخر میں بھائی کے سامان میں سے پیالہ نکال لیا .... اور اس طرح ہم نے یوسف کے حق میں تدبیر کی کہ وہ بادشاہ کے قانون سے اپنے بھائی کو نہیں لے سکتے تھے مگر یہ کہ خدا خود چاہے ہم جس کو چاہتے ہیں اس کے درجات کو بلند کردیتے ہیں اور ہر صاحب هعلم سے برتر ایک صاحب هعلم ہوتا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

تب یوسفؑ نے اپنے بھائی سے پہلے اُن کی خرجیوں کی تلاشی لینی شروع کی، پھر اپنے بھائی کی خرجی سے گم شدہ چیز برآمد کر لی اِس طرح ہم نے یوسفؑ کی تائید اپنی تدبیر سے کی اُس کا یہ کام نہ تھا کہ بادشاہ کے دین (یعنی مصر کے شاہی قانون) میں اپنے بھائی کو پکڑتا الا یہ کہ اللہ ہی ایسا چاہے ہم جس کے درجے چاہتے ہیں بلند کر دیتے ہیں، اور ایک علم رکھنے والا ایسا ہے جو ہر صاحب علم سے بالا تر ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

تو اول ان کی خرُجیوں سے تلاشی شروع کی اپنے بھائی کی خرُجی سے پہلے پھر اسے اپنے بھائی کی خرُجی سے نکال لیا ہم نے یوسف کو یہی تدبیر بتائی بادشاہی قانون میں اسے نہیں پہنچتا تھا کہ اپنے بھائی کو لے لے مگر یہ کہ خدا چاہے ہم جسے چاہیں درجوں بلند کریں اور ہر علم والے اوپر ایک علم والا ہے - Ahmed Raza

تب یوسف (ع) نے اپنے (سگے) بھائی کی خرجین سے پہلے دوسروں کی خرجینوں کی تلاشی لینا شروع کی پھر اپنے بھائی کی خرجین سے وہ گم شدہ کٹورا نکال لیا ہم نے اس طرح (بنیامین کو اپنے پاس رکھنے) کیلئے یوسف کے لیے تدبیر کی کیونکہ وہ (مصر کے) بادشاہ کے قانون میں اپنے بھائی کو نہیں لے سکتے تھے مگر یہ کہ خدا چاہتا ہم جس کے چاہتے ہیں مرتبے بلند کر دیتے ہیں اور ہر صاحبِ علم سے بڑھ کر ایک عالم ہوتا ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad
