قَالُوا۟

قَالُوا۟ سَنُرَٰوِدُ عَنْهُ أَبَاهُ وَإِنَّا لَفَٰعِلُونَ

They said: We will try to win him from his father: that we will surely do.

Joseph's brothers said, [We shall try to influence his father to send him with us and we shall be successful].

وَقَالَ لِفِتْيَٰنِهِ ٱجْعَلُوا۟ بِضَٰعَتَهُمْ فِى رِحَالِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَعْرِفُونَهَآ إِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

He said unto his young men: Place their merchandise in their saddlebags, so that they may know it when they go back to their folk, and so will come again.

He said to his servants, [Put their money [back] into their saddlebags. Maybe they will recognize it when they return to their folks, and maybe they will come back [again].]

Then Joseph told his people to put his brothers' money back into their bags so that perhaps they would recognize it, when at home, and come back to Egypt once again.

یوسفؑ نے اپنے غلاموں کو اشارہ کیا کہ ——اِن لوگوں نے غلے کے عوض جو مال دیا ہے وہ چپکے سے ان کے سامان ہی میں رکھ دو—— یہ یوسفؑ نے اِس امید پر کیا کہ گھر پہنچ کر وہ اپنا واپس پایا ہوا مال پہچان جائیں گے (یا اِس فیاضی پر احسان مند ہوں گے) اور عجب نہیں کہ پھر پلٹیں

اور یوسف نے اپنے غلاموں سے کہا ان کی پونجی ان کی خورجیوں میں رکھ دو شاید وہ اسے پہچانیں جب اپنے گھر کی طرف لوٹ کر جائیں شاید وہ واپس آئیں،

فَلَمَّا رَجَعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَبِيهِمْ قَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَبَانَا مُنِعَ مِنَّا ٱلْكَيْلُ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَآ أَخَانَا نَكْتَلْ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَٰفِظُونَ

So when they went back to their father they said: O our father! The measure is denied us, so send with us our brother that we may obtain the measure, surely we will guard him well.

So when they returned to their father, they said, [Father, the measure has been withheld from us, so let our brother go with us so that we may obtain the measure, and we will indeed take [good] care of him.]

When they returned to their father, they told him, [Father, (unless we take our brother) they will refuse us one further measure of grain. Send our brother with us so that we can obtain that measure. We shall watch over him carefully].

So when they returned to their father, they said: O our father, the measure is withheld from us, therefore send with us our brother, (so that) we may get the measure, and we will most surely guard him.

When they returned to their father, they said, [Our father, any [further] measure of grain has been denied us, so send our brother [Benjamin] along with us, so that we may obtain our measure [of grain]; and, we shall guard him well.]

اب جو پلٹ کر باپ کی خدمت میں آئے اور کہا کہ بابا جان آئندہ ہمیں غلہ سے روک دیا گیا ہے لہذا ہمارے ساتھ ہمارے بھائی کو بھی بھیج دیجئے تاکہ ہم غلہ حاصل کرلیں اور اب ہم اس کی حفاظت کے ذمہ دار ہیں

جب وہ اپنے باپ کے پاس گئے تو کہا ——ابا جان، آئندہ ہم کو غلہ دینے سے انکار کر دیا گیا ہے، لہٰذا آپ ہمارے بھائی کو ہمارے ساتھ بھیج دیجیے تاکہ ہم غلہ لے کر آئیں اور اس کی حفاظت کے ہم ذمہ دار ہیں——

پھر جب وہ اپنے باپ کی طرف لوٹ کر گئے بولے اے ہمارے باپ ہم سے غلہ روک دیا گیا ہے تو ہمارے بھائی کو ہمارے پاس بھیج دیجئے کہ غلہ لائیں اور ہم ضرور اس کی حفاظت کریں گے،

اور جب وہ لوگ لوٹ کر اپنے والد کے پاس گئے تو کہا اے ہمارے باپ! ہمارے لئے (ناپ تول کر) غلہ دیا جانا بند کر دیا گیا ہے (جب تک بھائی کو ہمراہ نہ لے جائیں) اس لئے ہمارے بھائی (بنیامین) کو ہمارے ساتھ بھیجئے تاکہ ہم غلہ لا سکیں اور ہم یقیناً اس کی (پوری) حفاظت کریں گے۔

قَالَ هَلْ ءَامَنُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا كَمَآ أَمِنتُكُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَخِيهِ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ فَٱللَّهُ خَيْرٌ حَٰفِظًۭا ۖ وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ

⦿

He said: Can I entrust him to you save as I entrusted his brother to you aforetime? Allah is better at guarding, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.

He said, [Should I not trust you with him just as I trusted you with his brother before? Yet Allah is the best of protectors, and He is the most merciful of merciful ones.]

Jacob replied, [How can I trust you after what happened to his brother before? Only God is the best Protector. His mercy is far greater than that of others.]

He said: I cannot trust in you with respect to him, except as I trusted in you with respect to his brother before; but Allah is the best Keeper, and He is the most Merciful of the merciful ones.

یعقوب نے کہا کہ ہم اس کے بارے میں تمہارے اوپر اسی طرح بھروسہ کریں جس طرح پہلے اس کے بھائی یوسف کے بارے میں کیا تھا -خیر خدا بہترین حفاظت کرنے والا ہے اور وہی سب سے زیادہ رحم کرنے والا ہے

باپ نے جواب دیا ——کیا میں اُس کے معاملہ میں تم پر ویسا ہی بھروسہ کروں جیسا اِس سے پہلے اُس کے بھائی کے معاملہ میں کر چکا ہوں؟ اللہ ہی بہتر محافظ ہے اور وہ سب سے بڑھ کر رحم فرمانے والا ہے——

کہا کیا اس کے بارے میں تم پر ویسا ہی اعتبار کرلوں جیسا پہلے اس کے بھائی کے بارے میں کیا تھا تو اللہ سب سے بہتر نگہبان اور وہ ہر مہربان سے بڑھ کر مہربان،

آپ (ع) نے کہا کیا میں اس کے بارے میں تم پر اسی طرح اعتماد کروں جس طرح اس سے پہلے اس کے بھائی کے بارے میں کیا تھا؟ بہرحال اللہ سب سے بہتر حفاظت کرنے والا ہے اور وہی سب سے بڑھ کر رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

وَلَمَّا فَتَحُوا۟ مَتَٰعَهُمْ وَجَدُوا۟ بِضَٰعَتَهُمْ رُدَّتْ إِلَيْهِمْ ۖ قَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَبَانَا مَا نَبْغِى ۖ هَٰذِهِۦ بِضَٰعَتُنَا رُدَّتْ إِلَيْنَا ۖ وَنَمِيرُ أَهْلَنَا وَنَحْفَظُ أَخَانَا وَنَزْدَادُ كَيْلَ بَعِيرٍۢ ۖ ذَٰلِكَ كَيْلٌۭ يَسِيرٌۭ

⦿

And when they opened their belongings they discovered that their merchandise had been returned to them. They said: O our father! What (more) can we ask? Here is our merchandise returned to us. We shall get provision for our folk and guard our brother, and we shall have the extra measure of a camel (load). This (that we bring now) is a light measure.

And when they opened their baggage, they found their money restored to them. They said, [Father, what [more] do we want?! This is our money, restored to us! We will get provisions for our family and take care of our brother, and add another camel-load of rations. These are meagre rations.]

When they opened their baggage, they found that their money had been returned to them. They said, [Father, what more do we want? Our money has been given back to us. We can buy more provisions with this for our family. We shall protect our brother and have one more camel load of grain which is easy to get].

And when they opened their goods, they found their money returned to them. They said: O our father! what (more) can we desire? This is our property returned to us, and we will bring corn for our family and guard our brother, and will have in addition the measure of a camel (load); this is an easy measure.

When they opened their packs, they discovered that their money had been returned to them. They said, [Our father, what more do we desire than this? This money of ours has been returned to us, so we shall [again] buy food for our family and we shall guard our brother, and we shall obtain an additional camel-load of grain. This [that we bring now] is a small quantity.]

پھر جب ان لوگوں نے اپنا سامان کھولا تو دیکھا کہ ان کی بضاعت (قیمت)واپس کردی گئی ہے تو کہنے لگا بابا جان اب ہم کیا چاہتے ہیں یہ ہماری پونجی بھی واپس کردی گئی ہے اب ہم اپنے گھر والوں کے لئے غلّہ ضرور لائیں گے اور اپنے بھائی کی حفاظت بھی کریں گے اور ایک اونٹ کا بار اور بڑھوالیں گے کہ یہ بات اس کی موجودگی میں آسان ہے

پھر جب انہوں نے اپنا سامان کھولا تو دیکھا کہ ان کا مال بھی انہیں واپس کر دیا گیا ہے یہ دیکھ کر وہ پکار اٹھے ——ابا جان، اور ہمیں کیا چاہیے، دیکھیے یہ ہمارا مال بھی ہمیں واپس دے دیا گیا ہے بس اب ہم جائیں گے اور اپنے اہل و عیال کے لیے رسد لے آئیں گے، اپنے بھائی کی حفاظت بھی کریں گے اور ایک بارشتر اور زیادہ بھی لے آئیں گے، اتنے غلہ کا اضافہ آسانی کے ساتھ ہو جائے گا——

اور جب انہوں نے اپنا اسباب کھولا اپنی پونجی پائی کہ ان کو پھیر دی گئی ہے، بولے اے ہمارے باپ اب اور کیا چاہیں، یہ ہے ہماری پونجی ہمیں واپس کردی گئی اور ہم اپنے گھر کے لیے غلہ لائیں اور اپنے بھائی کی حفاظت کریں اور ایک اونٹ کا بوجھ اور زیادہ پائیں، یہ دنیا بادشاہ کے سامنے کچھ نہیں

اور جب انہوں نے اپنا سامان کھولا تو دیکھا کہ ان کی پونجی انہیں واپس کر دی گئی ہے تو کہنے لگے ابا جان! ہمیں اور کیا چاہیئے؟ (دیکھے) یہ ہماری پونجی ہے جو ہمیں واپس کر دی گئی ہے (اب کی بار جو بھائی کو اپنے ساتھ لے جائیں گے) تو جہاں اپنے گھر والوں کے لیے رسد لائیں گے اپنے بھائی کی حفاظت کریں گے (وہاں) ایک اونٹ کا بار اور زیادہ بھی لائیں گے اور یہ غلہ (جو اب کی بار ہم لائے ہیں) بہت تھوڑا ہے۔

قَالَ لَنْ أُرْسِلَهُۥ مَعَكُمْ حَتَّىٰ تُؤْتُونِ مَوْثِقًۭا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ لَتَأْتُنَّنِى بِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن يُحَاطَ بِكُمْ ۖ فَلَمَّآ ءَاتَوْهُ مَوْثِقَهُمْ قَالَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ مَا نَقُولُ وَكِيلٌۭ

He said: I will not send him with you till ye give me an undertaking in the name of Allah that ye will bring him back to me, unless ye are surrounded. And when they gave him their undertaking he said: Allah is the Warden over what we say.

He said, [I will not let him go with you until you give me a [solemn] pledge by Allah that you will surely bring him back to me, unless you are made to perish.] When they had given him their [solemn] pledge, he said, [Allah is witness over what we say.]

(Jacob) said, [I shall not send him with you until you solemnly promise me before God to return him to me unless you are prevented from doing so.] When they gave their promise, he said, [God is the Witness of what we have said].

He said: I will by no means send him with you until you give me a firm covenant in Allah's name that you will most certainly bring him back to me, unless you are completely surrounded. And when they gave him their covenant, he said: Allah is the One in Whom trust is placed as regards what we say.

He [Jacob] said, [I will never send him with you until you give me a solemn pledge, before God, that you will indeed bring him back to me, unless you yourselves are trapped [in a compulsive situation].] And when they had given him their solemn pledge, [Jacob] said, [God shall be witness to all that we say.]

یعقوب نے کہا کہ میں اسے ہرگز تمہارے ساتھ نہ بھیجوں گا جب تک کہ خدا کی طرف سے عہد نہ کرو گے کہ اسے واپس ضرور لاؤ گے مگر یہ کہ تم ہی کو گھیر لیا جائے -اس کے بعد جب ان لوگوں نے عہد کرلیا تو یعقوب نے کہا کہ اللہ ہم لوگوں کے قول و قرار کا نگراں اور ضامن ہے

ان کے باپ نے کہا ——میں اس کو ہرگز تمہارے ساتھ نہ بھیجوں گا جب تک کہ تم اللہ کے نام سے مجھ کو پیمان نہ دے دو کہ اِسے میرے پا س ضرور واپس لے کر آؤ گے الا یہ کہ کہیں تم گھیر ہی لیے جاؤ—— جب انہوں نے اس کو اپنے اپنے پیمان دے دیے تو اس نے کہا ——دیکھو، ہمارے اس قول پر اللہ نگہبان ہے——

کہا میں ہرگز اسے تمہارے ساتھ نہ بھیجوں گا جب تک تم مجھے کا اللہ کا یہ عہد نہ دے دو کہ ضرور اسے لے کر آ ؤ گے مگر یہ کہ تم گھِر جاؤ پھر انہوں نے یعقوب کو عہد دے دیا کہا اللہ کا ذمہ ہے ان باتوں پر جو کہہ رہے ہیں،

آپ (ع) نے کہا میں اسے کبھی تمہارے ساتھ نہیں بھیجوں گا جب تک اللہ کی قسم کھا کر مجھ سے عہد و پیمان نہ کرو کہ تم اسے ضرور اپنے ساتھ لاؤگے سوا اس کے کہ تم سب ہی گھیر لئے جاؤ (اور بے بس ہو جاؤ) پھر جب انہوں نے قسم کھا کر اپنا قول و قرار دے دیا تو آپ نے کہا اللہ ہمارے قول قرار پر نگہبان ہے۔

وَقَالَ

وَقَالَ يَٰبَنِىَّ لَا تَدْخُلُوا۟ مِنۢ بَابٍۢ وَٰحِدٍۢ وَٱدْخُلُوا۟ مِنْ أَبْوَٰبٍۢ مُّتَفَرِّقَةٍۢ ۖ وَمَآ أُغْنِى عَنكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن شَىْءٍ ۖ إِنِ ٱلْحُكْمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ ۖ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ ۖ وَعَلَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُتَوَكِّلُونَ

And he said: O my sons! Go not in by one gate; go in by different gates. I can naught avail you as against Allah. Lo! the decision rests with Allah only. In Him do I put my trust, and in Him let all the trusting put their trust.

پھر اس نے کہا ——میرے بچو، مصر کے دارالسطنت میں ایک دروازے سے داخل نہ ہونا بلکہ مختلف دروازوں سے جانا مگر میں اللہ کی مشیت سے تم کو نہیں بچا سکتا، حکم اُس کے سوا کسی کا بھی نہیں چلتا، اسی پر میں نے بھروسہ کیا، اور جس کو بھی بھروسہ کرنا ہو اسی پر کرے——

وَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا۟ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَمَرَهُمْ أَبُوهُم مَّا كَانَ يُغْنِى عَنْهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن شَىْءٍ إِلَّا حَاجَةًۭ فِى نَفْسِ يَعْقُوبَ قَضَىٰهَا ۚ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَذُو عِلْمٍۢ لِّمَا عَلَّمْنَٰهُ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

And when they entered in the manner which their father had enjoined, it would have naught availed them as against Allah; it was but a need of Jacob's soul which he thus satisfied; and lo! he was a lord of knowledge because We had taught him; but most of mankind know not.

When they entered whence their father had bidden them, it did not avail them anything against Allah, but only fulfilled a wish in Jacob]s heart. Indeed, he had the knowledge of what We had taught him, but most people do not know.

اور واقعہ بھی یہی ہوا کہ جب وہ اپنے باپ کی ہدایت کے مطابق شہر میں (متفرق دروازوں سے) داخل ہوئے تو اس کی یہ احتیاطی تدبیر اللہ کی مشیت کے مقابلے میں کچھ بھی کام نہ آسکی ہاں بس یعقوبؑ کے دل میں جو ایک کھٹک تھی اسے دور کرنے کے لیے اس نے اپنی سی کوشش کر لی بے شک وہ ہماری دی ہوئی تعلیم سے صاحب علم تھا مگر اکثر لوگ معاملہ کی حقیقت کو جانتے نہیں ہیں

And when they went in before Joseph, he took his brother unto him, saying: Lo! I, even I, am thy brother, therefore sorrow not for what they did.

And when he provided them with their provision, he put the drinking-cup in his brother's saddlebag, and then a crier cried: O camel-riders! Lo! ye are surely thieves!
