That was because their messengers (from Allah) kept coming unto them with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), but they said: Shall mere mortals guide us? So they disbelieved and turned away, and Allah was independent (of them). Allah is Absolute, Owner of Praise.
- Pickthall, Marmaduke
⦿
That was because their apostles would bring them manifest proofs, but they said, [Will humans be our guides?!] So they disbelieved and turned away, and Allah had no need [of their faith] and Allah is all-sufficient, all-laudable.
- Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
This was because their messengers came to them with clear proof (to support their prophethood) and they said, [Can mere mortals provide us with guidance?] They rejected the Messengers and turned away. God does not need the worship of anyone. He is Self-sufficient and Praiseworthy.
- Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
That is because there came to them their apostles with clear arguments, but they said: Shall mortals guide us? So they disbelieved and turned back, and Allah does not stand in need (of anything), and Allah is Self-sufficient, Praised.
- Shakir, Habib
⦿
That was because their messengers came to them with clear signs, but they replied, [Shall mortals be our guides?] And so they rejected the truth and turned away. God has no need of such people; God is self-sufficient and worthy of all praise.
- Wahiduddin Khan

- Jawadi, Zeeshan

- Maududi, Abul A'ala
⦿
- Ahmed Raza

- Najafi, Muhammad
That is due to it being, that came to them their messengers with clarifications, then they said, [Will a man guide us?], thus denied and turned away; and self-sufficient is the One; and the One is sufficient of power. [ 64 : 6 ]

CONSTITUTION OF THE ONE WHO IS THE NOURISHER, THE SAFE-KEEPER
This website is a work of passion. It exists only for a couple of reasons:
1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc. 2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.
Because the process must be transparent, the entire website is available for you to download. You can go through the code, and if you can make any improvements to this process, you are most welcome to. It is a humble request to update me regarding the improvements so I can also update myself.
Due Credits:
This website was possible by help of many people and forums who helped me to learn Arabic, Philosophy, Law, Psychology, and PHP and other Web scripts. To be honest, I do not even know the names of many but I did learn from them. Some of these people were already dead by the time I read their input.
The entire code of this website is available for the same reason, that what they taught me, I can only pay it forward.
The Arabic text of the Quran was obtained from Tanzil. The additional translations were also obtained from Tanzil from this link.
